I have seen on newer models (Dell 6350) that it is possible to replace the screen and upgrade to HD resolution. The only screens I have found on Parts-people.com are WXGAHD. Have anyone upgraded to a screen with Full HD?

Pressing Num Lock displays Thunderbolt message
I have a new Alienware 17. Whenever I press the Num Lock key, a window pops up that says "A Dell Thunderbolt Dock has been connected, some features are not supported by this system, please refer to the user manual for additional information".
I then have to hit the "Okay" button under the message for the Num Lock button to take effect.
Does anyone know who I can get rid of this message, so Num Lock works normally?

Ran diagnostics one of the fans are bad. One spins at sub 3000 and the other about 6000+
Left side fan is ok right side is loud ( with keyboard faceing up not upside down and closed)
Other fans spin at 3 to 4k so for this particular fan to be "bad" doesnt make sense.
I dont want to buy a new fan if it doesnt address the issue.
Will one bad fan make the other work harder?
Right now the fan is always on and stays on. Iv tried passive cooling and trying to disable speed step and underclock the pc. Still no luck. Fan is loud and always stays on.

Inspiron 17R SE 7720: 8-in-1 Memory Card Reader: not working

Windows 10 Home v1607 OS build 14393.953
Is there some trick to getting this memory card reader to work?
I find that neither a Sony Memory Stick nor a Buffalo SD Memory Card are recognized when inserted into this slot along the front edge of the laptop. The laptop specs describe the card reader as:
379-10308 : 8-in-1 Memory Card Reader: SD, SDXC, SDHC, MS, MS-Pro, MSXC, MMC, MMC+
I have explored the Device Manager and the most likely device listed there is:
Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader
Assuming that I have selected the correct device the Properties > General > Device status reports: "This device is working properly."
Dell Update has been running regularly and most recently ran just two days ago.
Is this card reader working for other 7720 owners running Windows 10?
Was any special tweaking required to get it to work?

Latitude E6520 pointing stick on keyboard doesn't work
The pointing stick on my E6520 keyboard just stopped working, doesn't respond to any pressure and the option for Pointing stick under: control panel/dell touchpad is gone...? Is the hardware at fault? Any ideas please?

xps 15 9560 - the 2 screws that hold the backplate under the small name plate came out without trouble, but I can't get them back in. It appears that there are screws underneath that prevent thse (long) screws to get reinserted.

Hi everyone.
I want to know the maximum capacity of this laptop.
Scanning it on crucial webpage, the results of ram memory is 32 GB at max. But in Dell manual and some other webpages is 16 GB.
And I want to know if I can put a crucial m.2 SSD, 500 gb or 1TB...but I'm not pretty sure about that.

XPS 9560 with TB16 - Screen flicker
I have the XPS 15 9560 with the i7-7700HQ and the 1080p screen. The laptop works fine by itself and it works fine with a WD15 dock at my home with 1 montior. At work I used the TB16 dock with the 240W adapter and I have 3 Dell U2414H monitors connected (DisplayPort, HDMI and Mini DisplayPort). The Monitor connected via DisplayPort flickers at least a few times every minute. The Monitor connected via Mini DisplayPort has flickered just a few times and the one connected via HDMI has never once flickered. I have updated the bios to 1.1.3 and I have updated the Intel and the NVidia drivers. I apologize in advance if this question has already been answered.

Help Needed!!
I have a E7250 which was working fine. Shut it down and went to bed. Today when i try to power on, the power light and caps lock light come on for about 5secs and i get nothing else. Have tried a different AC adapter but problem remains.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated..

Inspiron 15 (3531, Mid 2014)
My laptop won't boot up. Yesterday I updated real player, and then installed chrome. Real player was not working so I uninstalled it, and also uninstalled chrome. From that point on, my laptop has not booted up. Have been on the phone with Microsoft for two days nothing they have tried to do has made a difference. I get the message about "Automatic Repair" that my pc did not start correctly. My options are "restart" or Advanced Options". I had tried both with and without the assistance of Microsoft tech support. I am at my wits end. Is there any way for me to extract filed from my lap top?

XPS 15 9560 - Positive
Yesterday I received an XPS 15 9560 (32GB/1TB/UHD configuration) and I'm very pleased.
Ordered 13 March & Delivered 22 March - to Western Australia.
I've taken note of all the issues from this and other forums and run a comprehensive set of checks and tests. The unit exhibits none of the problems others have noted.
In case you're wondering, the pre-installed 1TB SSD is a Samsung 961. I've also updated bios and all recommended drivers (those that weren't already up to date).
A positive story is nice to read too :)

vostro 15 5568 new 2016, M.2 SSD height allowed?

i had a vostro 15 5568, want to install a M.2 SSD
the module with out heat sink is 2.3mm (i guess it's standard, for sure can fit it to the case)
but module with heat sink (they say more stable on read/write speed) is 4.79mm

question is module with heat sink can fit in the case?

Always same pattern, infrequent to very frequent:
Computer shuts down or goes into sleep mode without touch press while regular app use (no usage pattern),
critical error: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. Event ID 41 Kernel-Power.
Then different errors without pattern, except one exactly after the critical one:

Installed all recent drivers three times over, did and did a fresh w10 reset.
Noteworthy: device was shipped with probably defect bluetooth, bluetooth device does not show up in BIOS or Device Manager.

E7440 strange new fan noise

network problem
i have a dell latitude e5440 laptop however, the airplan mode is on and cannot be turned off at all, i have tried installing wifi drivers from dell but aint working, though when i use a cable it works well, the airplane mode thing is making me aaaaagrgrg! please help me guys

Inspiron 15Z 5523 Not Turning on - 3 BEEPS & BLACK SCREEN
Hey Guys,
Recently a week ago, I watched a movie and put my dell ultrabook to sleep, the next day, when i started it up, The laptop started giving out three beeps, Then i took it to my local service center who said that the motherboard was faulty, I didn't seem to believe them, so i disassembled the laptop and replaced the cmos battery, after an overnight capacitor drain.
The laptop finally started, and i was met with the dell logo, I tried tapping F2/F12 to no avail, then a black screen appeared mentioning "PXE-ROM : Exiting PXE ROM", This screen comes very rarely, Only after 12 hours of cmos drain. I can't seem to access windows, My hard drive is well working.
Any help would be appreciated

Do not buy dell laptop
This is my first laptop and dell product
But i'll naver buy a dell laptop
Dell has the worst warranty system I've ever seen
I bought the Inspiron i5 7559 for $1000
After purchasing a notebook, I had a problem before a month.
So called them andthen I have received technician service 3time a month because of the battery problem but techicain could not fix it.
Then i discovered that the reason for not charing the battery is that the line of the notebook case is prossed and does not work.
I adjusted the line and it worked well.
At that time, I had to move soon, So i did not know it was a problem again.
And two months later, while i was working on my laptop I had a hinch problem.
So i asked Dell about warranty and i received no answer.
And they send to price about part.
$430 for part and $170 installation costs.
It was about half the price of a laptop.
But i had no choice so i bought and wait 2weeks to order
I had to replace parts myself because i was not much money left.
After the operation, it worked well to the window, so I thought there was no problem.
Before discovering batteries are not charging,
I sent a letter to Dell and noticed that I forgot what I missed.
So the explosion occurred when I turned on the laptop and saw the window running and the battery charger plugged in.
So I contacted them and they returned the only explanation that they could not make warranty..
I was able to use this laptop for only two months for 6 months.
I do not know why the warranty exists.
Even if there is no problem, the warranty does not apply.
If you choose to buy a notebook, I recommend buying another brand.
If you don't want to stress stress just like me.
