Latitude E7470 Freezes after applying Windows 7 Image

0

We are using MDT 2013, applying a customized windows 7 Enterprise Image on these laptops.  Our most recent batch of laptops came with TPM 2.0.  We added in a task in our task sequence to downgrade TPM to 1.2 and everything deploys correctly.  However, after the system sits idle overnight, it freezes.  I am scratching my head on this and unable to find the answer.  The previous versions of this laptop series that we have received do not have this issue.

We are using DDPE to manage bitlocker and it seems if I disable non-microsoft services it seems to remain functional without freezing.  I am wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue?

Beep Code Indicates Motherboard Issue - What to do?

My Dell XPS 13 (9343) has been non-operational for the better part of 4 months now. This is mostly my fault, as I was scared to bring it in for repairs, fearing a sky-high bill (my warranty expired in early 2016). I will describe the issue and I hope someone may have had my problem before or could offer some advice:

When the laptop is powered on, a yellow light facing the user (usually white to signal start-up) comes on and flashes intermittently. I don't know how to describe the noise that begins to sound other than 'an alarm'. Dell says it is a beep, I say a tornado is about to hit town. Whilst plugging my precious ear drums against this maelstrom, I count 5 beeps (months ago, when the problem had begun there were only 3 beeps *System board failure, says Dell online guide*). The guide I found online shows that this means a CMOS battery failure.

Does this mean that I need to replace the motherboard? Or simply the CMOS battery? And since my warranty has expired, am I free to safely open the device and replace these myself?

Thanks for the help!

Problem trying to reinstall Windows 8 - Inspiron 15

Yesterday, after I turned my Inspiron 15 laptop off and back on, I got a message saying internal hard drive not found and to try reseating. Well, I tried reseating a few times and no luck. I was thinking maybe my hard drive had failed (I've had to replace the hard drive in this laptop twice already when it was under warranty) but this difference this time is that the computer recognizes the hard drive under BIOS.

I was thinking I could try reinstalling Windows 8. I downloaded it onto a USB from the Microsoft website, and managed to change the boot order to bring up the Windows installation, but it gave me an error when trying to install to this drive.

Now, I can't even get back to the installation screen. The furthest I can get is the blue Windows logo and after it tries to load it goes to a black screen and nothing else. I really don't know what I'm doing or what the BIOS setting should be on to bring up Windows install.

Please excuse the cracked screen, this laptop has been through the ringer (and probably needs to be thrown away).

Dell Precision 7510 BIOS Version 1.10.7 Issues

The newest BIOS update released has major issues with a Windows 7 OS. Issues related to docking stations where, after closing the lid on a 7510 (once in the OS) and putting the system to sleep, the system hangs and you cannot re-awaken it in or out of the dock. When logged into windows, if the power cord or charger is unplugged, the PC freezes and has to be force shutdown.

Anyone else see these issues?

Cannot open files off of USB

I have a brand new latitude e7470, and I attempted to move several files over to my new laptop this morning via USB (Windows 10).  My laptop recognizes the USB, but I can't open any of the files on the USB drive.  I keep getting errors that say I don't have permission.  Eventually a Google search turned up something about changing the USD drive letter.  I did that, and it worked, but I have to keep changing the drive letter.  For example, I changed the letter from D: to F: but then restarted the machine and was back to the same problem.  Then I would have to change it from F to M.  Furthermore, I noticed that after the restart, when I would first go back to the USB drive and attempt to open file, say a JPEG, the actual JPEG would open and flash up for about a second, but then it would flash the 'don't have permissions error again'.  Any idea how to fix this?

Inspiron 14 3000 Series (3452) - Auto Power On

BIOS 4.0.13 and Windows 10 Pro currently installed.

Is it possible to configure the Inspiron 14 300 series to automatically power on at a specific time?

By "power on" I mean to power on from a completely shutdown state (no sleep or hibernate).

I searched in the BIOS/Setup, but I did not see the option.

Something happened. Please try again

This is my second Dell Laptop from Costco in the past two weeks. The first one let me go through the configuration process that generated a green screen with the message, 'Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again.' Nothing I did at that point got me any farther than that. I called their concierge service but he couldn't do any more than i had already. So, I took it back and got another one. It, too let me go through the configure process and worked for two days before generating the same message, only this time I had the login screen for Windows. I'm going to call concierge service again, if only to get another ticket number. Anybody seend this before?

Dell latitude e6220, very loud fan, high cpu temperature.

My laptop has been acting weirdly recently, the cpu fan has become very noisy and is working at high speed most of the time. I have disassembled and cleaned the fan and reapplied thermal paste onto the cpu but the problem still persists. Average cpu temperature flactuates between 75-85 degerees which is quite high. Has anyone encountered similar problem with their machines? Any suggested solutions?

"Your battery is temporarily disabled" - Updated BIOS, changed both battery/AC adaptor etc

Hey everyone, i have been receiving the "Your battery is temporarily disabled" notification after the laptop randomly turns off. Getting it started again is easy, all i have to do it disconnect the battery and reconnect it and it starts. However at first it might happen once a month, then once a week, now it's a few times a day and even within a few minutes of resetting it, it can happen. It's random at the moment, but it won't last more than a day, typically no less than a few hours before turning off.

So far i have replaced both the AC Adaptor and Battery, and i switch between the 2 with no improvements. I have updated the BIOS, and i also uninstalled the battery drivers, but not the AC driver (it wasn't suggested but i might try it anyway). Still no luck.

Any ideas?

Hot and Crashing

Hello all,

I have a XPS 1645 laptop that had for quite some time now.  Not too long ago, I've notice that the laptop has been getting kind of hot lately.  My real concern was that the system was starting of freeze-up on me.  I've ran dell diag (f12) and I've cleaned the fan ports.  It seems to improve a little, but lately, when I leave it running and I return, I have to reboot cause it freeze-up when I'm away.

I ran Dell Online Diag, and I choose some of the stress test for HD, CPU, and GPU; unfortunately, the system never got a chance to complete the test. Almost immediately it crashed.  Catch22:  I can't find out whats wrong if I can't run program.

Thanks for your help.

Dell Power Companion (18,000 mAh)-PW7015L fo 5-151736

Hi,

I have been very happy Dell user for years now  - My e7k series laptop, two U2711 monitors and my power companion until few days ago.

After 1.5 years around the world and different airplanes, the product was not allowed on an airplane anymore and we travel without checked in baggage (due to time limitation I did not have time to purchase carry on baggage for the battery either).

Problem: The label on the bottom was badly warn (although it has been in plastic bag and safe place) - Battery itself had no or minor scratches. And due to incompetence of the airport workers, they just did not let me board the airplane with this tiny battery, if the label was worn. Meaning I just lost my very useful 120€ battery.

Solution: Do more user friendly and durable labels - As my battery was never mistreated or badly held, but the label content was still almost completely warn off (black content was worn, left me just white label).

Thank you!

I've bought TB16 and update all drivers (Dell Assist does it) and after lowing network settings to 75% my DELL monitors flickering less but now I have major issue since my Dell Adapter - USB-C to HDMI-VGA-Ethernet-USB stop working completely. When I plug in nothing happens (yes, adapter is working properly and yes cables are correct)

In first few days, randomly, Windows was enable to turn on output to adapter (after hour of plugin, plug out same adapter).

Now, it's completely useless.

Can anyone help, any suggestion ?

Inspiron N5010 doesn't start after HDD replacement

Good day

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 N5010 which came with a 320GB WD blue (5400rpm) HDD.  I replaced it with a 750GB WD black (7200rpm) HDD, however the system doesn't even want to boot.  None of the lights go on.  Could it possibly be that the new HDD is not compatible?

If so, can you please assist in telling me which HDD are compatible?

Thank you

Hi,

My laptop suddenly went off and now it wont turn back on it would switch on all the lights would show and the dell logo appeared but would switch back off immediately. By constantly pressing the on off button i managed to get it to turn on for a few minutes until it suddenly did the same thing again. However now there is no logo and the lights just flick on once and back off.

Thereafter I tried to get into the BIOS diagnostic mode by pressing f12 as soon as I managed to get it to turn on. once more however it went off as it was loading this up. Now it just wont go any further than flashing all the lights once and turning back off

Precision 7510 - 2nd laptop same problems - freezing.

This is my 2nd 7510 and i am receiving the same crippling problems.

As i type, i will let you see what the keyboard is doing, you will probably notice some odd errors. My mouse freezes about 8 times a minute. It gets stuck for about 1 to 2 seconds. At this same time, if i was typing, my keyboard would freeze or puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut...< There, tttttttttttttttttthats exactly what it does.

This iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis the exact same problem i had with my previous 7510. After about 2 weeks of normal operation the laptop starts acting up. Reboot fixes it for some time, maybe half a ddddddddddddddddddday maybe an hour.

I have swapped outttttttttttttttttttt keyboards, Edocksssssssssssssssssssss, and mice. I have checked theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee CPU temperatures, they are fine. I have checked the processes, nothing seems to be using to much memory or cpu time. My harddrive is not being taxed. I do not even see a blip on the process monitor when the freezes occur. The freezes happen reguardless of what program is running, oooooooooooooooooooor even if no software is running. It also happens out of Dock.

I have updated aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall drivers, chipset, bios, video, usb. Everything. NOTHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING stops this annoying error.
