Some time ago I've bought Vostro 3460 i7 version. Now I would like to extend the hardware using mSATA drive but after opening the I've noticed that there is no mSATA slot. I've made some search on net and found that there are two types of daughter boards one with mSATA / other without.
So ma question is if may I buy and replace the board that I posses with the one with daughter board. Similar to this?

I have just bought the "new" XPS13 2-in-1 and TB16 thurderbolt dock from Dell Hong Kong official site.
I have to said it was a very very bad experience.
First, since I have received the laptop. The touchpad is often out of control. It will suddenly fly everywhere on the screen, crazy clicking everything and I can hardly control it but to restart. Sometime, it even has NO response.
I have tried a lot of method. Updating BIOS and drivers were not worked.
Once I received this laptop, I went to business trip with it. I have tried all methods to fix it. I read many article online but none of the methods work! This laptop drove me crazy during my trip!!
And most craziest thing is, when I come back from my trip. I try to setup the TB16 dock. It has NO RESPONSE after I plug it according to the instruction. No light, no response, JUST LIKE A BRICK!
I have email the sales to ask for help or advice. She is simply NO REPLY.
I have also asked for technique support from official site. It is just a extremely NOT user friendly. It even cannot search the service code of TB16 dock!
I would say, if you are considering to get a dell, please think it twice.

I am using XPS13 2016 (9350). For the previously 6 months, I have been using the SD card slot smoothly without any problem. But recently, the SD card slot failed. I tried many of my SD cards, and there is not any response when I plugged the SD card into the slot. I tried the Dell System Detect and it reported no error.
Anyone knows how can I solve this? Thanks!

The touchscreen on the laptop is completely black. The computer is turning on and the backlight to the keyboard is functioning, as well as the fan. At times I can get a series of 8 beeps that can be heard. I referenced this and understand that code indicates LCD failure. I connected the laptop to an external monitor via HDMI cable and it is black as well. I did remove the battery for a few minutes and then reinstalled it. I also check the LCD cable connection, unplugged it, and plugged it back in. No change. What could be causing this problem?

I purchased this laptop before 5 years and has been working quite well. Last month it displayed a blue screen with some error. I showed my laptop to local vendor just to identify what's problem with it.
The vendor mentioned that the graphics card isn't working and hence will have to replace motherboard.
Laptop configuration:

Motherboard 04DKNR
What are other alternative for me for having this fixed?
I'm from India so suggest solution which I can get in India.

I received my Dell XPS 15 with a FHD display yesterday. Although the system runs very well, I've noticed that the screen has a slow response rate. It's likely one of the slowest I've encountered so far. Since I game lightly, this is very noticable when objects are moving and makes it very inconvenient. Is anyone else having the same issue or is aware of a fix? Due to this, I'm considering returning it.
Backstory:
Tablet was purchased with Active stylus accessory and it worked OK.
Original active stylus was lost...
I have now bought 2 additional 7202 active stylus and neither one of them work. Did something happen to the screen?
How do I troubleshoot this?

We bought this laptop for PLC software. I put in a new hard drive and when trying to install Windows 7 32bit OEM software, it comes up with this message:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver ...,please insert it now."
We did purchase two Dell Latitude 14 Rugged 5404 laptops around 9 months ago with Windows 7 32bit from Dell but Windows 7 32 bit isn't being sold anymore.

and must decide between xps 13 or 15 kaby lake FHD..prefer 13 if is possible to do some light video editing on it.I travel alot so smaller is better but if not possible to edit on 13 then I will take xps 15.but need info to decide,so please if someone do have some experience to share with me. Tnx

I'm looking at getting a new xps 13. I want the non touchscreen version with 1920x1080. Mainly due to long battery life. My understating is that this resolution is only available on non touchscreen models EXCEPT for the 2 in1, which I don't want BUT a lot of the listings I'm seeing for the non-2 in 1 are saying "1920x1080 touchscreen". I thought u had to get the 3200x1800 to get touchscreen. I'm confused.

I have problems with my old dell l502x. It worked fine for 5 years until it started shutting down and freezing randomly. After reboot it beeps 4 times. I know that is Memory Error, but memory seems to be fine( Tested with memtest). After that it refuses to boot. To start it I have to press FN+F2 and it boots normally.
My question is what can cause this problem and what does the FN+F2 combination do while booting?

I just received my XPS 13 9360, purchased directly from Dell. The first thing I noticed when I started using it was a rattle whenever I make contact with the touchpad. The touchpad seems loose. The rattle is noticeable even when I barely touch the touchpad. I'm not clicking it.
I tried going to the "Contact Dell Support" page but it says "The product is out of warranty and is eligible for the following support options: Solve the problem yourself with our free and easy-to-use online tools." However, when I go to the Warranty page for my Service Tag, it says that the start date of my warranty is today.
Since this is obviously a hardware problem, I think I should just send it back for repair or replacement.
This isn't the best first impression of my nice new laptop. Suggestions?

I was helping somone who accidentally set BIOS and HDD passwords on their Latitude E6420 in an attempt to change their Windows password. They had the correct passwords and the system was working and booting to Windows, but they wanted to get rid of the password prompts at startup. The system password and hard drive passwords were different passwords. When I entered the BIOS it also asked for an admin password which was the same as the HDD password. I then went into the security section of the BIOS and unset the admin and system passwords, but when I got to the HDD password it would not take the password anymore. I saved and exited the BIOS and it no longer asks for a system password at boot up, but it is still asking for an HDD password and is no longer accepting the password that had previously been working. I tried putting the system and admin passwords back, and it still won't take the hdd password.
So here's how it was originally set and was working just fine.
I then attempted to remove the passwords
I then set the system and admin passwords back to how they were. I had to remove the hard drive in order to do this because the BIOS would not let me set an admin password when there was a password protected hard drive present, I put the hard drive back in after.
Is there a certain sequence that has to be followed when removing the passwords that I did wrong? Is there any way to get it back to working with the passwords like it had been originally? I know the password can be reset with a master key, but it will wipe the drive, which I am trying to avoid if possible.
Yesterday I shut down WIn 10 on my inspiron 3552 for the first time, upon reboot it shows me 'hard drive not installed' it run diagnostics automatically. I read lot of posts, I reset the Bios settings but still Bios shows there is no hard drive, I remove the hard drive disconnect and reconnect to the connector but still it shows me hard drive not installed, but if I connect hard drive to my sata to usb adaptor I see the hard drive is working properly. it appears and shows files connected to my other laptop via usb adaptor. May it be the sata connector fail?
