Hello Guys

I'm trying to Downgrade the Dell Alienware 17 R4 to Windows 7 and like i'm having the same problem i had downgrading the XPS 8910 and The Alienware R5.

With the XPS 8910 and Alienware Aurora R5 i solved the problem Downloadin by dell the following ISO of WIndows 7: G13K9_PW4KGA00_W7SP1PRO64_ROW(DL)

This ISO it does not work on this Laptop(Alienware 17 R4). Basically when start  the system with Windows PE it does not recognize the USB port so it lose the Installation media.....

I tried to Inject these driver into the boot.wim

Chipset_Driver_JWGWH_WN_v6.1.7601.28099_A00

Chipset_Driver_PVR15_WN_v8.1.0.1252_A00

Chipset_Driver_TW4VR_WN_v1.0.4.220_A02

Chipset_Driver_YC5PN_WN_v9.3.0.1019_A00

But nothing has change when i start the Installation of windows from usb key...i lose the of usb ports and so  the media with the installation of Windows....

I have to add the driver also in the Install.wim? There is the possibility to download the CAB drivers?

I noticed a few posts about screen flicker but this is not regular enough to be called a flicker - it happens every few seconds for a tiny fraction of a second.

There was one suggestion to delete and reinstall the video driver. This laptop has two video 'cards'. Which one? Or both?

I think the BIOS is up-to-date.

I've tried running diagnostics but the PC crashes. I can't get it to run diagnostics on bootup.

Still under warranty but not for much longer.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I recently purchased a new XPS 9560 from the Microsoft Store (i7, 512gb SSD, etc). However, a persistent issue has emerged where the laptop will randomly shut down and/or randomly restart. I've run a bevy of diagnostics, booted in safe mode, tried calling Dell support, tried contacting Nvidia support, and have consistently run into problems when trying to pinpoint what exactly is causing this issue. If anyone has dealt with something similar or has a suggested solution please respond!

There are several keys on my keyboard that do not always register. You have to touch them several times before they register.

Is a new keyboard needed? If so how do I order it and what will it cost me?

Guys,

We have some Latitude E6440 and E6540's and we are not able to get the express card slot to recognize a pcmcia card.  I just updated a 6440 to the A16 BIOS, but when I plug the adapter card (with pcmcia card), Windows 7 64bit will not recognize the card.

I even tried booting into a Linux live CD to see if it saw it there, but it didn't show up - but, I'm not certain this live CD (parted magic) would have pcmcia drivers.

PCI standard PCI to PCI bridge shows up in device manager with no yellow exclamation point.  The pcmcia card does not show up in Device Manager either.

Can you all advise?

I bought a battery 6 months ago. The battery doesn't charge beyond 70% but suddenly after a few months, it charged to 100% since then, it discharges to 80% and shuts down while still maintaining the 80%.

How do I resolve this?

Hi,

I have Dell Inspiron 13 7000 (7368).

I notice, whenever I charge my laptop (off-condition), there comes a strange sound near the AC plug in.

But, it disappears when I turn on my laptop.

Any thoughts?

Hi

I have an XPS 15 9560 with 256 GB SSD. Is it possible to swap this with a 1 TB SSD? I notice there is an empty place for an HDD where it could go but there seems to be no connection cables. Before opening it I had imagined it would connect to where the existing 256 GB SSD is currently connected.

Just bought this used laptop and the touchpad works fine but when I connect a USB mouse, it's dead. Works fine on other computers. Suggestions?

I just got my new laptop one day ago and when i take my computer of AC at 100% charge it automatically drops to 95%. I ran battery diagnostics and on top of that and the new battery is already at 90% of its capacity, shouldn't it be at 100% considering its brand new?

Hello, I have a quick question about charging the Xps 15 with a portable charger. The one I have in mind is called ''AUKEY 30000mAh Portable Charger with Quick Charge 3.0 & USB C '' and here is the link to the item: www.amazon.ca/.../ref=ox_sc_act_title_1

So, I'm baffled by this issue and it actually makes me wonder why the heck a company would do this. So, this computer is lightning fast because of its: DDR4 2133 MHz memory, SSD, and i7-7500u with intel HD 620 graphics. I'm half-way happy with it and makes a great school computer for I can write on it and it currently has no problems running the processing software required for my EE major. But I have a big issue with its processor safety precautions.

Just making it clear..... I didn't buy this laptop to game. I bought it for school and wanted to lightly game away from home because the components are suitable to do so.... or so I thought.

So, I went to play overwatch on it because I saw that a dell xps 13 with the same specs (but the i3 kabylake) could do it smoothly and with decent graphics. As soon as I opened up the game I noticed that my cpu frequency dropped from 3.50 GHz to 1.65 GHz instantly and resulted in horrid performance.

I came to the conclusion that the cpu has a limiter so that it wouldn't get too hot, but then I remembered that the dell XPS is thinner than my computer and wondered how the heck it could run it but mine couldn't? I went to the service manuals for my computer and the dell XPS and I saw that the XPS has the same gimpy strand of copper leading to one dissipation fan as mine does, and I was left completely befuddled. I also have to mention that when I was running the game my computer never got hot (got warm but not even close to hot).

So, I pose this question for you all.... why can the xps run at maximum frequency under load but mine can't?

P.S. I also have to mention  that I'm disappointed in Dell for leaving so much space open inside of the computer. For the people who want to use their i7 to its full purpose need that extra space for another fan and more copper for heat dissipation.

Hi,

Yesterday during working in  Word, my Dell Inspiron 5737 suffered an error and my laptop started automatic fix and also after the restart it updated my windows (win 10). Problem is that my windows wont start anymore. I only get black screen with cursor after the Dell logo and occasionally "Choose an option" menu. I cant start with safe mode either since I get black screen then also. Any attempts to recover/reset my windows with files or use dell system recovery has failed. My only concern currently is to retrieve my Word file.

The sound on my machine seems.to have failed. However, it works when Skype is connected. So if I want to heat anything, I need to make a Skype call and this enables all other sound!

Bit strange that. Have done all the usual things like drivers and previous versions etc.

Anyone else had this?

Every now and then and in seemingly unpredictable ways, my built in keyboard stops working. I can lug one in and that works but I have to switch off and switch on again to fix, works 90%of the time. Restart does not. Help.me?
