I have a Dell Inspiron I5 5559 6th Gen i7 system. and Im about to upgrade my RAM to 16GB. but the memory I bought is CL=9 module.. but the memory modules which are already installed in my system are CL=11. I'm noob for those tech. so the Q is.. does that new Ram would work fine..

Clock speed matched =  1600Mhz
Voltage Matched= 1.35V
Pins Matched= 204pins

Only the CAS Latency is not matching? Will it be a problem?

Dell Precision 5510 4K UHD Touch display problem with vertical line

Hi guys, since yesterday I have one vertical line on my screen. I am sure it is hardware problem. I red some topics in the web about similar problems and decided to take off the bottom aluminum part of the case and to make sure  the display cable is on its place and is not lose. Everything looks OK. After that procedure the problem still exists.

So my question is : is there way to repair it without need to change of the whole screen assembly ? Can I change only the LED display cable, as I found some spare of them on Ebay ?

Does anyone of you experienced such a fault in this model display ?

XPS 15 9550 i7 CPU capped to 0.8GHz

Hello,

My XPS 15 (i7 6700hq) is performing very poorly lately. I used to have issues when alternating from power to battery use and CPU would get stacked at 0.8GHz.

Now, CPU won't go above 0.8GHz no matter what I do, making the laptop unusable for demanding tasks.

I have tried unabling SpeedStep and TurboBoost, updating BIOS and changing power profiles; nothing works though.

I need help please.

Thank you in advance,

USB 3.0 problems

I have a Dell System Inspiron N7110 running Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) Service Pack 1 that has 2 problems with the Renesas USB 3.0 ports.

1. If I simply power on and let the system boot, the ports are not activated.  If I power on and press F2 'configuration options' and do not change anything - just press F10 and exit out, the ports are activated during the boot.

2. After the computer has been running awhile [variable time spans from 1 to 5 hours], the ports become inactive and I have to reboot as described above in order to use them.  I have tried removing everything from the ports right after a successful boot but the deactivation still occurs which would seem to rule out any of my USB devices as the problem.

I have updated the BIOS and the Renesas drivers from the Dell website without the problem being solved.  I just noticed that the Renesas Electronics - USB 3.0 Device Driver  and Renesas Electronics - USB 3.0 Monitor  are both 32 bit versions.  Could this be cause of one [or both] of my problems?  Are there 64 bit versions of these drivers?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Battery Light Rapidly Flashing Orange?

Hi!

I have a Dell Inspiron 5758.  I've had it since October of 2015. I've never had a problem with the battery, I run it on AC power and battery pretty consistently.

Just yesterday, I noticed that the battery indicator light was rapidly flashing orange and the laptop also powers down when I unplug the AC adapter.

The battery icon says it's at 67% (plugged in, not charging). I ran a couple tests:

1. Diagnostic test on Dell.com, under Product Support. Just gave me a warning icon for battery.

2. Dell Power Manager says "Error" under battery health.

I was reading that sometimes a BIOS update can fix this? I'm just confused as I've owned a couple Dell computers in the past and have NEVER had this issue before.

I run Adobe programs quite often, so I'm wondering if this performance could drain the battery life?

Any insight is appreciated.

I have a Dell XPS 11 that will not boot.

It hangs on a black screen with the Dell logo in the center.  Pressing F2, F12 does nothing.  I have removed the battery unit from the machine, but that made no difference.

I am unsure of what to try next.  Please see the photo below.

Dell Command Update doesn't work

I have a latitude E5470 and since a month more or less, the Dell Command Update always shows me the same two drivers:

Intel Rapid Storage Technology F6 Driver (16,0 MB, 21/1172016)

Intel(R) Management Engine Component Installer (106,4 MB, 21/10/2016)

I have tried to install the two together or one by one but always when I verify the installation, dell Command Update allways shows me the same drivers.

How Do I install this drivers?? Could I reset something to try to install these drivers??

Thanks

List of Full-Height PCI-e Card Wireless N Adapters for Vostro 1500

$

Hello,

I am looking for a list of Full-Height Wireless N Cards for the Vostro 1500 that will take advantage of all three antenna cables.  I have to ask because I don't know if the BIOS has a Whitelist or not.  I am running Windows 10 and have BIOS A06 installed.  I am currently using a Netgear WNR834B RangeMax Next Wireless Router with 802.11b/g and 802.11n Draft.  I currently have a Dell Wireless 1395 card installed.

I have read on this site about the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, but there is no Windows 10 driver support and I have also read about many problems in Windows 10 with old Win7 drivers (including the Win10 Inbox driver v12.4.1.4).  I know about the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300, but it is a Half-Height PCI-e Card and the antenna cables don't reach.

I am wanting to use the regular Wireless PCI-e Mini-Card slot with a Full-Height Wireless N compatible Card, and again, I want one that uses all three antenna cables.  I don't really care if it's A/G/N, B/G/N, etc., as long as I can take full advantage of Wireless N speed with no BSOD Screens or intermittent performance.  I want to keep all laptop functionality intact.  I am hoping you can tell me if the BIOS uses a Whitelist or if my choice of PCI-e Mini-Card is limited in any other way.  If so, I would very much appreciate a list of cards that I can select from that still have Windows 10 support for driver updates (like Intel does).  If I can select from any PCI-e Mini-Card then I would like to know that too.

While I have you, I'd like to know if you have a short list of recommended cards for my application that use all three antenna cables.  I have only seen the above two mentioned on this site with respect to the Vostro 1500.

Thanks in advance,

Craig

XPS 13 9360 rebooting frequently on sleep

$

I'm having a frustrating problem with unintended rebooting / shutting down. When I leave my computer at lunch I either Ctl-Alt-Del and Lock it, or just leave the machine sitting there. When I return in an hour, I put in my access code and half the time I find myself on a freshly rebooted desktop, all windows I had open are closed. Sometimes I return to the desktop the way I left it. Power settings are set to go to sleep after 1 hour when plugged in.  I am using a Plugable UD-CA1 docking station. Any ideas how to troubleshoot this? Dell Update says my system is up-to-date.
Thanks,
Martin

How To Stop Dell Notices to Upgrade To Premium Dell Recovery

$

I have a Dell Insprion 3542.  It came with Windows 8.1 and I did  free upgrade to Windows 10.

Every time I load Windows I get a pop up message from Dell offering (for a fee) to upgrade my Dell Recovery from Cloud (or whatever it is called).  It has a choice of "do nothing" or "learn more".  There is no option to not receive this message again.  When I click "do nothing", the message is given the next time I book windows.  When I click "learn more" is only give me the option to "upgrade", not an option "no thanks".  The next time I book windows, I get the message again the next time I book windows.  I don't want to upgrade and I don want to get this message anymore.  Please advise me what I need to do to stop this message.

Thank you.

USB-C issue with Dell XPS 13 laptop

I hope someone can help. I have an XPS 13 through work. It is connected via traditional USB to a VGA adapter that connects to a KVM (which works ultra-reliably), I began to experience an issue though when I purchased a USB-c to DVI adapter to connect to a third monitor. Randomly, the USB will reset (laptop display goes dark and third monitor goes dark (KVM monitor stays strong) and the USB reset "tone" will play. On the third monitor, I have to use the hardware buttons to switch from VGA back to DVI to re-activate the third monitor on the laptop.

Also of note, that third laptop monitor also serves as a second monitor (via VGA) to a desktop also connected to the same KVM switch (Zonet 4-port USB w/ sound). I have reviewed Event Viewer for clues (fruitless so far) and am looking for any guidance on how to diagnose what might be causing the resets to occur.

Thanks in advance to any and all who can post a reply!

Dell Inspiron 15 3542 - Five Beeps (CMOS Battery?)

$

I own a Dell Inspiron 15 3542 and whenever I reboot or start it and I hear five beeps. I looked it up and it says that would be due to CMOS Battery failure. Kind of crazy the CMOS battery is failing when I have other computers that are 3x older with CMOS Batteries that are still kicking just fine.

With that said I wanted to ask is there a preferred place to buy one? And if so can someone tell me where? I don't want to end up buying a cheap battery on eBay or from a third party amazon seller.

E6420 BIOS updated failed - bricked notebook?

Hi,

An attempt to upgrade BIOS of E6420 failed. Now the notebook doesn't boot.

No POST, fans doesn't spin, no lights, nothing. It is completely dead.

The only thing it does: The Power indicator LED on the back side of the lid is glowing white and blinks once every 5 seconds. None of the LED works if you open the lid. Only that one on the outside of the notebook.

I have tried the usual things, including

- Remove battery and power cable and push the power button for 30-60 sec

- Dismantle notebook - remove BIOS battery, RAMs, wifi card etc

- Attempt to use BIOS recovery. Remove battery and power cable and try pushing Fn B, Esc, End etc and reconnect power cord.

- I tried creating a Wincrisis USB however, I'm having problems to extract ROM file from the .exe file. /writeromfile doesn't seem to work.

Any suggestion is welcomed!

Thanks in advance

Gabor

Dell Latitude E5570 Touchpad

Hi all,

I have the aforementioned laptop. The issue with it is that Windows 10 does not seem to register the touchpad in Device Management. I have attempted to rectify this by doing the following: 1) new touchpad drivers from Windows 10 update, 2) new device drivers from Dell support pages, 3) new device drivers from the Dell Device Detector dongle, and finally 4) Bios update. None of these seem to fix my issue.

As a bonus: I am receiving an Alps_Mouse_SetMouseMonitor error as well with every reboot of the laptop that I perform.

Thanks in advanced!
