I have a dell inspiron 3737, now it has installed bios version a08, and having problems with audio under linux, seems that it has a wrong pin config when read from bios. After search I have found a bios update to version A09 but when i try to update, using an usb with free-dos, i obtain the error:

Error: could not allocate page memory table

I tried too do a downgrading to version A07 but i obtain the same result.

Any ideas in how to solve that problem?

I have a Precision M4700 laptop running Windows 10 Pro x64 anniversary edition. It has a STMicroelectronics 3-axis digital accelerometer with driver version 2.2.3.8. Every morning the Dell software tells me the driver is out of date and tries to install a new driver. It reboots my system, and then tells me that the driver is up to date. I have tried to manually remove the driver, and then manually reinstall the driver. This has happened so many times, I am sick of it!

Is there a later version of the driver? I do not see it on the Dell support site.

Is there a way to let the update software know that it is already up to date, and stop doing this?

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement motherbaord for an XPS L702x? I've recently recovered an old one of mine from my family, and they appear to have damaged it. Any time a power adapter is plugged into it, the light instantly goes out, which is lively caused by a short. I have stripped the laptop completely, and determined that it is 100% the motherboard that is causeing the issue, and would like to replace it.

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I have reinstalled a E6520 laptop with Windows 10 64bit.

Tried everything, but I can't get working the fingerprint reader.

The best I could achive is that ControlVault Device and Biometric Tools are visible in Computer Management, but under Biometrics Tools, the device is marked with exclamation mark.

The driver which I have installed: Security_Driver_P62GJ_WN64_4.5.17.305_A07

Any other driver seems to be worse, generally no biometrics device found with other drivers.

Anyone can help with a soluton?

I have recently purchased the highest specification new XPS 15 (www.dell.com/.../pd. This comes with a 1TB SSD. I would like to add an additional SSD for Windows, programs and some files and use the existing 1TB SSD for certain other files. (I have this setup in my current laptop and find it works well).

I think I can add an M2 SSD because the lower XPS 15 has a 32GB SSD along with a larger normal HD.

Can anyone please confirm it is correct that I can add an M2 SSD to my computer?
Are there are limits as to how large it can be?
Would a 'Samsung 960 EVO 250GB m.2 NVMe Solid State Drive' be suitable? Are there any other models I should consider? Will this be at least as fast as the included 1TB SSD?
Do I need to buy insulation for the M2 drive, if so what and from where?

In terms of installation would the process be:
Create bootable USB stick with the Dell operating system recovery image
Remove back cover
Insert drive with insulation
Replace cover
Install Windows to new SSD
I can then wipe the existing 1TB SSD and format as single drive

Also does the Dell recovery image include all relevant drivers for my computer or do I have to download and install them separately?
Do I need to install the Samsung driver?
Do I need to do anything with the BIOS (except maybe change boot order)

Anything else I should have asked but haven't?

I am used to changing/adding HDs and installing operating systems and partitioning drives etc but normally this is with the standard size ones on computers with an optical drive where everything runs off the DVD until installed but just want to check as I don't want to mess up my new computer and haven't come across the M2 drives before.

Any help very greatly appreciated!

Hi, whenever I fold the keyboard part of my laptop under the screen, and the touchpad and keyboard are disabled, i.e. tablet mode, my wifi connectivity weakens. Using the Wifi Analyzer app, my strength of signal is shown as -36 dBm or so when I'm using the laptop as one normally would, with the keyboard in front of the screen. But when I flip the keyboard under, I can watch the signal drop in the app, down to -77 dBm. This occurs when I'm standing next to my router, and no matter what orientation I place the computer (away from my body, upsdie down, right next to the router, etc.); the signal strength remains in the weakened state. When I flip the keyboard back to normal "laptop mode," the signal suddenly increases again to around -36 dBm.

My guess is that something is happening with the power; maybe the wireless card gets less power, for some reason, when I fold the keyboard under. I have tried updating the wireless driver and the Quickset software. I've also checked the power settings, and the wireless is getting "maximum power." Finally, I've unticked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" box in Device Manager for the wireless. None of these seem to make a difference.

Any thoughts on what is happening and/or how to fix this?

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS 15 (L502X) bought more than 5 years back. My usage is moderate to heavy with stuffs like games and programming.

With time I felt my system was reaching its limits, hence I upgrades few parts with time. Currently its specs are i7 processor ( II generation), 12 GB RAM, 1 GB Nvidia GT525M, 500 GB SSD, Intel AC Network Adaptor .

Now my problem is this, my game play is going fine, but I do observe that system is generating more heat most of the time. Even opening up an progamming editor spikes the CPU usage, memory usage is also high but that is expected behavior.

I am beginning to think maybe I will have to buy a new laptop. I do plan to switch to Alienware next. That will cost quite a lot, but maybe it will justify the cost.

My question is this: When should I be thinking of an system upgrade? What all factors should I consider to make that decision?

Hi,

First question: Using the ASUS ROG PG279Q with TB16 and 9550 - No 144Hz possible via DP or Mini-DP. Everything fine till 120Hz but when switching to 144Hz the screens flickers like crazy. Unusable!

Tried until now:

- Drivers updated for Nvidia and Intel

- All Drivers for TB16 installed

- Tested on Mini-DP as well as DP of TB16

- Monior and same Cable work fine at 144Hz on Lenovo Laptop with integrated Intel Graphics

Any hints please?

Second question: Also, is it possible to force the NVidia Driver a different Refresh Rate when in use? So for example, in Desktop mode when doing office stuff I am fine with 100Hz whereas when I play and the NVidia kicks in I would want that to use 144Hz or even 165Hz

Latitude E6430 doesn't start after upgrading RAM

Hi.

I tried to upgrade the RAM, but after installing the new modules the laptop doesn't get to BIOS - it just powers on and the screen stays blank. I returned the original modules, but nothing changed. Sometimes it just keeps working for hours, sometimes it turns off by itself (in this case the indicators start blinking).

After several dozens of attempts I managed to get to BIOS with one original module installed. I ran diagnostics, it didn't show any issues. Then I installed the other one - the problem returned and stayed even after removing the second module. I tried both slots in different combinations.

I checked all the modules on other laptop, they are fully functional. Does anyone recognises this problem? Is there a procedure to solve this?

Hello I recently purchased a New Inspirion 15 7000 Gaming Laptop with the 1050 ti and a 4k screen. I've been experiencing extreme mouse lag on the laptop. It only happens when I move the mouse off of an open window onto the desktop. Whenever it's on an application I see no problems but as soon as it's on the desktop it's hard for me to do anything. I do experience lag on open windows as well but it's far less often and doesn't last more than a few seconds.

Anyone have this problem or know of any potential fixes?

Just out of warranty(of course). Recently i noticed these moving bubbles(circles) that are gray and white translucent popping up on the left side of the screen and when they do mouse take on a life of its own and windows start opening and closing and all hec breaks loose like the laptop is possessed. then just as quickly it sometimes stops on its own- other times if i move the screen a bit forward or backward it stops.Other times thicker vertical bars show up along with the circular bubbles and again the laptop freaks out and windows open and close and shrink and enlarge without me even touching the mouse pad. All drivers are up to date-even bios and all win10 updates are fine as well. No new software added at the time or since the issue.It happens sometimes and not always.If i move the screen all the way back and put pressure on it the black likes will show up.Not always but sometimes. My feeling is this has something to do with the cable that connects the screen to the main part of the laptop but i just dont know how to get to it to maybe seat it better if it is the issue...if anyone has any ideas please do let me know.Thank you

I have dell n5110 i7, with vga intel hd graphic 3000 & Gforce GT 525M! My graphic worked properly before but after reinstalling windows, the vga is detected as gt 440 and the driver doesn't install so it doesn't work. Any solution please
