I want to upgrade the stock 128 GB SSD to a 250GB Samsung Evo 960 PCIe NVMe SSD? Is it possible? Has anyone else done this and was able to get full speeds of the SSD without any issues?

Dell XPS 9560 Screen - left side cooler and right side warmer

Hi,

I recently bought my Dell XPS 9560. My dell xps screen appears cooler on the left side and slightly warmer on the right side. It is not noticeable in any color but when I visit websites with a white background like google, I can notice that the right side is slightly warmer (yellowish) which is distracting. Any idea on how should I proceed with the issue?

Thanks

I'll keep this brief.

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 14 3000 in mid 2015. Around mid 2016 it completely shutdown. I bought a new charger, nothing happened. I bought a new battery, nothing happened.  The charge light doesn't come on and it doesn't respond to the power button, no beeps, no lights, nothing. I totally just left it alone for about 6 months, but my severe laziness gets stronger by the day, and let me tell you, the whole of idea of sitting at a desktop actually makes me sad.

Please....Help me.

New Inspiron 15 and initial boot.

Booting up my new Inspiron 15 for the first time. Made it through the first few steps, including connecting to my network, but it's been sitting at the blue screen with the spinning dots and "Just a moment...." message for well over an hour. How long does this step normally take?

Need help restoring laptop

alrighty... so I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 11" laptop... it's only 32gb, which I was aware of when purchasing, but since I figured it'd only be for browsing, skype, and such things, it wouldn't be much of a problem. boy was I wrong. turns out 14.5gb is already taken up by system files... oh well. I removed all the "ads" and unwanted games, I got McAfee set up, installed skype, it ran fine, still had between 10-15gb left. my mistake happened when I installed iTunes, plugged in my phone, and for some reason thought it was a good idea to back it up to the computer (impulse, probably). of course it did not finish backing up. an error message popped up saying there was not enough space on the computer. doh! I checked how much space there actually was, and now I was in the red zone with only 1gb free! so of course I uninstalled itunes and all the other apple software that came with it, thinking this would get me back to the 10-15gb I had free, and I'd be good. this did not happen though... after uninstalling itunes and all the associated files, I now only had 3gb free??? how? I assumed there were hidden files somewhere, from my phone backup beginning but not completing. I ran Disk Cleanup multiple times, but it doesn't seem to help. I then decided, "you know what, I'm just gonna factory reset it and start over and not install itunes this time". only problem is, when I go to do that, I'm told additional disk space is needed! I need at least 6gb to run a system restore!? so I did some research, I disabled hibernation mode, I did some weird Image Cleanup that took more than an hour, I removed skype, as well as any/all other programs that looked like they could go, and even some that were probably quite important, such as McAfee and various Dell System Help things. There's literally nothing more I can uninstall that seems safe... I have zero pictures, videos, or documents, only system applications and drivers, yet I'm still 1.28gb away from being able to restore. Is it even possible? Is there something I'm missing?

Dell Latitude E5470 Issue after BIOS Update HELP!!!

I decided to update my drivers and BIOS this morning. My laptop encountered an error during BIOS update and I was stuck in Automatic Repair. 1. I tried restarting the laptop several times. 2. I tried system restore which worked after my second try. The problem is Windows applications like Calendar, Mail, Cortana are not working. It doesn't run and the application is grayed out. 3. So I tried resetting Windows, remove everything which was not successful. Problem got worse, I got stuck on the Dell logo. 4. I ran Diagnostic. No hardware issue found. 5. I tried booting from my bootable USB which contains Windows OS. But my laptop is unable to detect it in BIOS. 5. I read some forums and learned about Legacy vs UEFI and Secure Boot. I disabled the Secure Boot and enabled Legacy ROMS. My laptop was able to boot from the USB and I was able to reinstall Windows 10. Now, the problem is I want to change it back to UEFI with Secured Boot. From what I gather, I should do the following: 1. Download Windows OS 2. Make a bootable USB in UEFI mode and GTP partition 3. Change laptop to UEFI mode while Secure Boot is disabled. 4. Re install Windows 10 Am I going in the right direction? Please help me.

Battery charging not working

OK, yes this is an old system.

I have a Precision M6300 (actually 2 of them).  This one has Win 7.   The battery charging is not working consistently.

The battery is new, but NOT a Dell battery.

Before everyone says that is the problem, NO IT IS NOT.    It is the 4th Batteries Plus battery I have used in Dell products, and all have worked fine.   In fact it is the second in this same unit, and the previous one worked fine for a long time.  It is a Ray-o-Vac product.

So, the problem is that it says it is charging, but it is not charging.  It is stuck at 38% and does not charge.   It charged fine for several days prior to this.  Does not charge whether the charging light is on or off.  Right now it is off.  If I unplug and plug in again it will charge for a few minutes and then stop charging.

AC adapter runs the computer just fine.

System diagnostics says the battery is working

System diagnostics  says that the motherboard components are fine.

Battery worked fine for several days, charging and powering the computer as it should.

Battery shows 2 lights solid green when the battery button is pressed.

I see in several posts that I should find battery info on the computer via control panel, but all I am offered is to set a power plan, there is no battery monitor as there was with the old XP OS.  So I get no information from the system, but since the diagnostics say all is well I assume that all really IS well as far as the battery and the charging system.

Suggestions?

LCDs compatible with Latitude E6530?

Just got given an E6530, minus a battery and "plus" some darkness in the lower right corner of the display.

It's the lowest resolution option that was available. (Of course a county government would go with the cheap option.)

I know there was a 1920x1080 option for the LCD. What other models used the same lids and displays? What's the Dell part number for the 1920x1080 lid?

I don't care if the housing colors don't match, I just want the top resolution. Mix-n-match will make it customized.

Just finished wiping the drive and doing a clean install of Windows 7. Now to get all the drivers. (Someone in the county's IT department screwed up the recovery partition, or replaced the hard drive with one not-from-Dell.)

P.S. Posting is broken in Firefox 51.0.1 32bit. I click the I'm not a robot box, it gets a green checkmark. I click post and it takes away the checkmark and tells me to check the box above.

Question Dell Latitude E7470 Touchpad

0

Hello Latitude E7470 Owners,

I'm a bit fussy about touchpads. I consider buying a Dell Latitude E7470 because of its physical touchpad mouse buttons. However, I read in a German notebook review, that they found the touchpad a bit imprecise. Especially when they scrolled with two fingers the screen content did jump or was lagging. Can someone of you confirm this?

Thank you very much in advance!

Inspiron 5558 touch screen no backlight

Yesterday my laptop screen back light started to flash, now there is no back light.

Plugged into the TV and display is fine and when I flash a light on the screen I can see icons etc. Checked the drivers and they are up to date, so it is probably hardware. The touchscreen doesn't appear to be responding either.

Should I just get a new screen or is there any other component to consider?

Thanks

Problem with clean install and mSATA/ISRT on inspiron 14z 5423

It's been awhile since I bought the laptop so I figured I'd do a fresh install. Boy was that a mistake.   I can get Windows installed as long as my SATA Operation is not set to Intel Smart Response, but that's not what I want. I'd like to be able to use the mSATA and ISRT.

So here's what I've tried:
Set SATA Op. in BIOS to AHCI and do a fresh install from USB of generic Windows 7.  Format Drive 1 (HDD) and install the RAID drivers.  I leave the mSATA unallocated.  Install goes well and I can boot into Windows.  Then install chipset drivers and reboot.  Next I install the ISRT application and drivers.  As soon as I reboot I get into a reboot loop.  The only thing that will fix it is a fresh install.

Tried to install from recover discs I made when the laptop was first new.  Software won't see my HDD until I change SATA Op to AHCI from ISRT. Finsihes restore but then boot loop.

Set SATA Operation in BIOS to ISRT then tried to install from USB and install F6 RAID but Windows setup won't see my HDD.

When I started the rebuild process I didn't go into ISRT and deactivate the cache drive. I think that's part of the problem but I'm not sure

I've also tried to start the process from multiple drive states.  Drives formated. Drives unallocated, drives partitioned.  There's gotta be an easy answer that I'm missing. I hope someone can help

I can get the laptop to work in AHCI without installing ISRT this not using the mSATA but I'd really like to use it.

SD cards are write protected

I am trying to format an SD card, but it is saying that it's write protected. I attempted to do this with multiple SD cards, and I had the same problem. I looked all over the internet on how to delete write protection. I tried the switch on the card, checking properties, commands, regedit, and computer management. Nothing is working. My computer is also recognizing and not recognizing the sd card off and on the whole time its plugged in.

Latitude E5530 OS reinstallation: BSOD on Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver

0

Hello!

I was upgrading my Latitude E5530 with Samsung 850 EVO SSD. I have downloaded OS reinstallation image from Dell support page and put it on USB flash stick. I have replaced HDD with SSD and began clean install.

First surprise was error window telling I need CD/DVD with drivers for my hardware. I saw recomendations to give Intel RST driver, it was recognized, but that did not wort, I could not continue installation. At this time USB flash stick was in USB port on the left side of the notebook.

Next I put the stick in the port on the right side of the note, and it worked like a charm, the system was deployed in 6 minutes.

Next it was attempt to install drivers. I have manually installed NIC driver, then Dell Command Update and let it install drivers. That attempt was messed. Particularly, laptop BSOD'ed on  Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver installation. In the next attempt to install same driver I get error it was unable to install.

I have tried once over, and installed drivers manually in prescribed driver installation order. At #3 there is  Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver. When I install it using setup program, laptop gives BSOD. In the next attempt to install same driver I get error it was unable to install. I knew I have to unplug all USB devices and install this driver from the drive, no matter, still BSOD.

In both cases I noticed left side USB port was not working at all, and other worked intermittently, accepting USB stick, but no activity on USB HDD and USB to SATA convertor.

Later I tried to not run setup program, but ckick Update driver... in device manager and let it pick the driver from unzipped location - it messed machine so bad, that it don't boot now, BSOD's quickly during startup.

So my question is how do I reinstall my machine from factory OS recovery image, so that Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver get installed and my USB ports bacome functional.

Thanks in advance

4G WWAN card in an Inspiron 1526? Compatible Bluteooth cards?

Are there 4G WWAN cards that will work in an Inspiron 1526? Or is that only for 3G, which is pretty useless these days?

Will any Mini PCIe Bluetooth card work or is it limited to specific ones?

Odd that it has 4 places for wireless peripheral labels on the bottom, but only 3 slots for them.

It's another freebie Dell, this one with a broken power jack. Just ordered the power/USB board off everyone's favorite auction site.
