Dell Precision 5510 Hard Disk noise

Hello !

           I have bought a new Dell Precision 5510 and I switched it on, then i heard some noise from its hard disk continuously. I dont have any idea that what is the reason of this sound. I also run the diagnostic but it did not detect the hard disk noise issue or anything. If someone could explain that why there is a noise in its hard disk.

I've been working in computer retail bushiness ( as a promoter ) and i've been told that dell started manufacturing it's own unique motherboards an memories ( Ram, HDD..etc)
is that correct ??
I really need answers because the customer deserves to have accurate information about the device he's buying (misleading information is a crime ) and I also do not want to compromise my credibility .

Lousy Dell Warranty

So, my daughter bought a laptop about 8 months ago, and the place you plug it in on the side of the laptop broke inside, so she can no longer plug it in to charge the battery. This was from normal use. When we called Dell, we spoke to three different people who assured me that the warranty only covers defects in the hardware and workmanship (I believe this qualifies!). Basically, from what I understood Ryan #741647 and Carey #678278 to say was, if you don't use your laptop, the hardware and workmanship are covered, but if you use it, welp, no warranty for you, buggaroo. Too bad, so sad. Well, that's pretty shoddy, so I will be warning everyone I know not to buy Dell from now on. Facebook, here I come!

Latitude E7450 - Error message "A disk read error occurred"

Hello,

I have a Dell Latitude E7450 with Windows 10. I am unable to get to the login screen as the following error message comes up "A disk read error occurred Pres Ctl+Alt+Del to restart" I do this and get the same error message each time. I did hold F12 so I can get to the boot options. I ran the diagnostics and it completed with no issues found. "All tests passed"

Any ideas of how I can fix this issue?

Boot mode is set to Legacy. Should I change it to Secure Boot?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

New XPS 15 9560 Log In

When I close the lid for sleep mode on my laptop, I then have a question to resolve when opening.

When I open the lid the screen shows a picture with the time. I have to press a key or tap the touchpad. When I do, then I have to click sign in.

Is there a way I can get the computer to automatically sign directly in to windows without touching anything when opening?

 I have a dell inspiron 13 7539  I have  multiple issue 

1 fan makes grind noise

2 SSD makes click noise 

3 track pad is not aligned properly 

4 the display is coming out of the case

5 Usb port is tight and sometimes I can't get USB port out

6 battery life not lasting long 

7 bottom part where the screws are at makes tapping noise

How long will the repair take I'm in college and computer is usable and I purchased Microsoft complete warranty from Microsoft,the computer I got it for Christmas

 Can I send this for repair during march when I have spring break ?

I kinda need this computer till then  and its usable

i try to remove the back cover and use the laptop in gaming again

it success greatly without freeze

i think the problem with fans

Dell XPS 13 9365 Touchscreen not working

Two issues I have found with the XPS 13 2 in 1 laptop I recently got:

1.- The most upsetting, that after the "Urgent" BIOS update suggested by Dell, the touchscreen completely stopped working, so my 2 in 1 is now a "1 in 1".

2.- The delay in the Touchpad and mouse response (even when the setting is at the 'no delay' option) is too long, up to 2 seconds.

Specs below. PLEASE! somebody help me!


Does the XPS 13 9365 camera support Windows 10 face log-in?

I wasn't able to find this anywhere and I don't see it as an option when configuring log-in options, even after setting up a PIN.

Latitude E6540 A19 Bios Update

Hi I am updating my bios from A17 to A19 and every time I run the update I get an error saying that the password is not set or there is an issue with the service tag. I have checked both and there is no error.

I have to replace my DC jack and I'm trying to open up the laptop, but there's this one screw that holds in the optical drive on the base of the laptop that I can't get out. In all the videos I've seen, it's a normal philips head screw, and the people doing the tutorials take it out with the same screwdriver as they take out the other screws. However this isn't working for me.

Here's what the screw looks like (these were the best pics I could get). Any ideas?

Dell Latitude E6420 & MS Comfort Mouse 4500?

Trying to install and use all functions of the Microsoft Comfort Mouse 4500, a few added features a "normal" mouse would not have.  When trying to download the required driver I get an error message saying .NET Framework component is missing, cannot proceed with download.  

Is this mouse and its drivers not compatible with my laptop?

Precision 7510: Problems with Pointstick

Hi,

this is my first post, so first of all hello to all fellow forum users.

After having used only ThinkPads for almost 20 years, I now switched to a Dell Precision 7510 since approx. 2 months. In general this is a wonderful machine, but I'm very unhappy with the pointstick. The ThinkPads' pointsticks always worked very well for me, with high precision that allowed to control even the smallest pointer movements with ease.

The Dell's pontstick in comparison does not work well for me. Sometimes I have to apply a high force to make it move at all. Sometimes when I try to make small or slow movements the pointer gets "stuck", e.g. it stops in the middle of the movement and then it moves on.

Is it possible that I have a bad exemplar, or do others confirm that the Dell pointsticks don't work as well as the ThinkPad pointsticks in general?

Also the form of the pointstick is not optimal for me. With the relatively high force that I have to use sometimes I slip of the stick and push one of the keys around it. Are there different forms of pointsticks available from Dell as accessory?

Dating back to Christmas 2014 I received a Laptop from my sister. Upon receiving the laptop it immediately didn't work, so my sister contacted Dell and they arranged a deal to send us a brand new laptop. This new laptop was a Inspiron 15 5547. After having the laptop for exactly 5 months, the left hinge screw fell out. I had not dropped the laptop or anything, it fell out simply from opening and closing. I contacted Dell and they sent out a technician. The technician confirmed that Dell had shipped my laptop already with missing parts and that I should send it in for repair. So I did and I got it back. No more than just a lil under a YEAR later the same issue transpired. The SAME screw fell out yet again and it started to raise up a little bit. After a while of just trying to deal with this issue, Im using my laptop and I tilt the screen down just a little bit and the whole screen goes black and it shuts off and I smell a gas smell and refused to turn on or even charge.

At this point Im thinking something has to be wrong here so I contact Dell AGAIN with this issue only to hear from them that they couldn't do anything because my warranty was up. This was in May of 2016, it hadn't even been a year since the previous incident. Dell did not even reset my warranty from when they sent me back my laptop that they shipped with missing parts. They kept the same warranty from December 2014 when they sent me a laptop THAT WAS DEFECTIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE. So I'm told theres nothing they can do about it. Fast forward to today, I still have no laptop because I dont have the money to replace and I begin to search for a motherboard for the 15 5547 just to check prices. Only to be lead to a thread on this site with MULTIPLE people complaining about the SAME EXACT ISSUE.

Disgusting to believe that Dell KNOWS they shipped out products with manufacturing and design flaws and yet refuse to do anything about it.


looking for recovery disc to my Inspiron 11z 1121

I have problems with my Inspiron 11z 1121, System is horribly slow and wanted to recover to factory state. Unfortunatelly recovery partition is gone and I have lost recovery media . Is there any chance to download recovery media to my laptop please?

Latitude E6400 only starts on AC power with no battery inserted

Hello,

My E6400 will not power on with the battery installed and will only start with AC power after I remove the battery, hold the power button for 15-20 seconds then insert the AC adapter.  I have tried installing a new battery and the same issue occurs and even went as far as unplugging the BIOS (?) battery.  Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. [:)]

Just tried to turn on my Alienware 17 R4 bought on December 2016 and this showed up (sorry for the bad quality, couldn't take a proper screen cap for obvious reasons).

I would greatly appreciate any tips on how to proceed.

XPS 13 9350 Warping

I went to take my XPS 13 with me the other day and noticed the cover sitting up about 1 cm. I then saw the touchpad had popped out. Then on further examination the keyboard looks like a rough day on the ocean all warped and wavy. What is this all about? It sits connected to a dock for about 2/3rd of its use and then I take it with me now and then. I hope Dell is going to replace my laptop as this is unacceptable for this quality and price point.

Refurbished e6420 not installing OS

I have a refurbished e6420 that will not install the win7 OS. When I start it up without the boot disc, after the Dell splash screen it asks me to launch startup repair. When I select that, it shows "loading windows files", and after it completes that, goes to another screen with a small loading bar and Microsoft Corporation underneath. It appears to get stuck here. It does not detect the factory-furnished CD in the disc drive, so I tried to boot from a USB loaded with win7. Result: shows "loading windows files" and then freezes on windows splash screen (left it for a couple of hours just in case). It has not successfully booted since its purchase, and I am trying to fix it as opposed to selling it for parts. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
