Latitude E7470 Pointstick clicking on its own

Hi,

I have encountered a problem with my Latitude E7470. When "Tap to click" for Pointstick is enabled in Dell Pointing Devices application, after some while Pointstick seems to begin clicking on its own. When the option is disabled, this behavior does not occur. Even after completely reinstalling drivers and application, this seems to repeat.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem (besides keeping the Pointstick "Tap to click" disabled)?


XPS 13 Touchpad does not consistently respond

Received new XPS 13 about 12/31/16. Touch pad does not consistently respond. Often takes 6 or more clicks to get it to respond. Went in for service about 1/6. Returned to me 1/17. Marginally better, but still totally unacceptable and unusable. What do I do? Return for service, AGAIN? Unacceptable performance for this level of investment.

Error 2000-0142

Guys, I own a Inspiron3537.

It worked fine and I shut it down at night. In the morning when I tried to boot up, it was on the automatic repair loop. I performed the e-PSA and the errors I received are :

1) Fail PSA V4228 error 2000:0142. Validation 124181. Hard drive 0 -S/N S314J90DA14515. Short self test unsuccessful.

2) Fail PSA V4228 error 2000:0131. Battery. The battery is not installed.

Please help me.

Inspiron 5348 - All In One Will not power on

The All in one when pressing the power button will not turn on, but the monitor does. it will then shift to HDMI input. External monitor does not work but it will accept an HDMI input from another computer. NO White Lite blinking or amber. Tried to reseat the RAM and a different Hard drive.

Any Other Ideas?

DELL XPS 15" 9550

I bought a new DELL XPS 15" 9550 on November 2016. Last week I got a blue screen in the middle of a presentation with my customers and had to cancel  the meeting and apologize. I thought it was an easy problem to solve but when I phoned Dell they told me that they had to format my computer and reinstall Windows 10, meaning that I would lost all my data. When I said that that was unacceptable they asked me to contact Microsoft. Same answer: format the CPU. I decided to take my laptop to a private technician and after one week he just told me that I will lose all my info. 

When I talked to DELL, after 90min talking to 5 different teams they explained me that it was my fault because I did not back up my data and that despite the 1 year warranty there´s nothing that they can do.

How can this happen in a laptop 2 months old? How can it be so easy for Dell and Microsoft to point each other without providing any explanation or solution. Is this going to happen to my laptop again? Might I lose all my info randomly in the future?

Extremelly disappointed with Dell, you are responsible of what you sell.

Dell Inspiron 5378 2-in-1 got the Error Code: 145 after replace HDD with SSD.

After turn on laptop the PSA diagnostics running and got the Error Code: 145. Then, shutdown after click continue. This happen after I replaced HDD with SSD drive.

I did update BIOS to the latest version before replace SSD.

Please help with this problem because I needed to upgrade to SSD.

15 5558 broken hinge cover

I purchased Dell 5558 last year through eBay. I am a cautious user of digital gadgets. My laptop cover and its hinges are broken because of normal wear and tear. This product is bogus and worst. besides there is no proper service from dell. I think lenovo products are better than Dell at least they provide prompt services and their spare parts are easily available in market in India. I suggest every one not to go for Dell 

Part number for Studio 1555 backlit (UK) keyboard with function key symbols

Hi all.

The keyboard that I now have on my Studio 1555 has no backlight and the function keys have the media key symbols shown more prominently than the function key symbols (i.e. F1, F2 etc are printed very small in blue on the top right-hand side of each key cap).

I'd like to buy a new backlit keyboard with the function keys symbols shown more prominently than the media key symbols (I am already aware that there is a setting in the bios to switch between these two alternatives).

I've already seen the backlit D344C / 0D344C but someone that I've spoken to says that the eject key won't work on a Studio 1555 since it is "not compatible".

Does anyone know if Dell make/made a (UK) keyboard for the Studio 1555 which has both a backlight AND the function key symbols shown on the function keys? If so, what is its part number?

Dell Inspiron 5523 awkward memory problem

Hello, I have in my service a Dell Inspiron 5523, Service Tag 358YKW1. The laptop worked with 2 x 4 gb ddr3 12800 low voltage memory modules which is supposed to work with. Suddenly stopped working with any other memory modules than one 2 gb ddr PC8500 1,5v. Is working without problems only with this memory module, like is in love with it [:|]. I tried everything 1gb, 2gb, 4gb ddr 3 different frequencies and brands,low voltage and normal. I think is a chip problem, but I wanted to eliminate the bios problem. So I downloaded a bios update from Dell website but when I try to update the laptop hangs does'n matter if I try to update from DOS or any Windows (7,8,10). I located the flash chip on the motherboard and I could try making a reflash on that chip externally but the Dell download section offers only an *.exe file, no bin file. Long story short, do any of you guys had similar problem ? Or do you know how to get a bios file? not exe, but  *.bin, or whatever this ami bios had ? Thank you.

Hello,

I own a Dell E6440 with the I7-4610m 3.0 processor, 16 GB of ram, and the AMD 8690M dedicated gpu (besides the integrated Intel-HD4600 one), running Windows 7 X64.

The drivers I have installed are the ones that are listed in the Dell webpage (specific for my service-tag).

My problem is that while playing, i get random FPS drops (from 130 to 30 in ~30 min). I've monitored the CPU&GPU temp and they're reasonable (60-70 Celsius) for both the CPU and GPU.

I'd blame this on overheating though, but something else made me want to reconsider. Everytime I exit a game that i've been playing for a while, my laptop reboots and I get "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." in the Windows Event Viewer 

I assumed that it has to do with the fact that there is a problem with the GPU switching. Since the computer doesn't reboot until I close the game.

Has anyone got similar issues and/or a solution to this? What drivers should I install? 

And regarding the overheating possibility. I've replaced the termal paste, cleaned the vents, but under specific apps CPU temp goes close to 90 Celsius, Is this a design flaw? Are there any aftermarket cooling solutions for this model?

HDD usage 100% due to Dell Factory Setup Manager

I have a Dell Inspiron 3521 i3-3227U 1.90 GHz.
I recently updated from Win 8 to Win 8.1 64bit. After update I noticed HDD usage 100% for no apparent reason.
From task manager I saw that ''Factory setup manager'' (C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell Backup and Recovery\Factorysetup.exe) had constantly 99% HDD usage for a long time and didn't seem to calm down.
I manually stopped this application and then HDD calmed down (0-5%).
Since then every time I turn on my Laptop I have then same problem with ''Factory setup manager''. and when I manually stop this application HDD calmes down.
I tried to start Dell Backup and Recpvery application, and then ''Factory setup manager'' started again with 99% HDD usage. Dell Backup and Recpvery didn't seem to open so I manually stopped ''Factory setup manager'' and HDD calmed down for another time.I repeated that for many times with same result.

I never had such a problem with Win 8 before.
Any suggestions to solve the problem? Thanks in advance.

my laptop dell 15 7559 the screen goes black during working and speaker make noise if i was played song during working but the device still working the keyboard is lighted and i hear the cooling fans i bought it last august this problem apears randomly but i noticed this more when i am playing league of legends and happens with charger or not and i have to restart it from power button i updated nvidia driver but no solution this is three cases after restart

first : starts normal

second : black screen with orange and white led which is in front of lap

third : strange colors

forth : blue screen

Dell 11 3168 wont load OS needs device driver (MMC?)

I have a Dell Inspiron 11 3168, Tag GS5B0C2, that will not allow the re-installation of Win10 or a Win7 OS. I have tried all combinations of the BIOS Legacy/UEFI - Secure boot (OFF) settings, along with the USB boot memsticks having multiple different versions of Win10 and Win7.

I have even loaded Linux/GPart on to a USB memstick, booted into Linux Gparted and wipe the hard drive clean.

This laptop was given to me because someone, prior to me, had done "something" and it would not boot whatsoever or respond to any keystrokes other than Bios setup(F2) and boot order (F12), and I would get an on screen display of either generic DOS "No boot device" message or a Dell message saying "No boot device"!

As it stands with the hard drive wiped, and a bootable USB memstick loaded with either Win10 OR Win7, the installation process proceeds normally right up to the point where you choose the hard drive to install OS, and then an error message is displayed that says "A required drive device driver is missing" that does not appear to be on either version (Win10 or Win7) of the bootable USB memstick.

I opened this machine up and there is NO HDD or SSD in this unit, just a permanently mounted 32gb MMC chip from Sandisk.

The problem lies with WHATEVER OS I try to install with! (UEFI or LEGACY) It needs to access the "MMC 32gb" chip as a hard drive. I shot an email off to Sandisk (mfr of the MMC32gb Chip) and they say it was specially made for Dell and they cannot/will not supply the driver to me!

I was directed by a friend to go here(link below replace xx with tt) and select "Operating System" download for this 3168 and the MMC driver would be slip streamed into the image file download!!

I went to the link above to get  "3168 " system image with MMC driver, and instead of downloading the 3186 image file, You MUST download a DELL "dellsystemdetectlauncher.application" file first, to start the Dell 3168 SER TAG: GS5B0C2 Image download! I guess something is supposed to happen after you install the above download, but nothing did.

A GOOD guess would be installing that file on my Lenovo Thinkpad was not the proper procedure.  Where else would/could I install the dellsystemdetectlauncher.application" download considering the 3168 is NOT booting up?

How the *** am i supposed to install a Dell system Detect program on a computer that doesn't start/run/boot up?

So, beings the procedure recommended listed for getting the Dell 3168 is impossible to implement, how do I acquire/supply/provide that MMC driver or the 3168 image file to start the OS installation process?

I have a Dell XPS 13 9360 laptop. Purchased almost a year. This is already the third time the laptop won't boot up and gives me an LED error code. Last two times I was able to run a self test and it fixed itself. This time it won't even run the self test when I press the Fn and Power buttons. Reboot it with pressing F2, no luck seeing the BIOS screen. Please help.

From reading this forum, seems like alot of XPS 13 users are having problem with their laptop. Should Dell has a fix or recall for this issue?

XPS 13 9360 Bluetooth stopped working

This morning after resuming from suspend the bluetooth adapter suddenly was not recognized.

Normal lsusb:

Restart did not resolve the issue. Power off and power on did make the bluetooth adapter appear again. Can this be a driver issue?

Several Problems with the new Dell Inspiron 7559

I've purchased a new Dell inspiron 7559 with an i7 6700HQ processor, 16GB ram and also with a 4k display at the dell retail outlet. There are several problems occurring with this device right now.

First thing is the Windows animations, the operating system that is provided with this device is a Windows 10 home version and the windows animations on this device ***. If the scaling of the screen is reduced to 1080p then the animations workout pretty decent and I've used other branded devices featuring a 4k screen and the animations on that devices work normally, if the problem is with the 4k display then why did they launch this device featuring a 4k screen?

The Second thing is the Touch Pad, occasionally the Touch pad doesn't respond to the input and points where ever it likes and the cursor takes a free tour all over the screen.

The Third one is the ScreenBrightnesswhen I reduce or increase the Brightness with the function keys, after the level which I fix, the brightness automatically adjusts either by going up or down the level from the level which I've fixed.

I've contacted the Dell Tech support team, that was of no use, But how the *** even they can solve the problems which is with the mismatch of the build specs of the laptop?

The Dell Software Team should release an Update of the Windows 10 rectifying just even the animation problems with this device.
