Alienware 17 R3 Wireless Card Killer 1535

I bough this Laptop expecting a top line gamer pc but instead I got I *** wireless card that disable by itself and doesnt allow me enable again.. only rebooting my laptop losing everything I was doing ONLINE! 

I already spent days looking for a passive solution through forums, messages on facebook page, email and etc and NO ANSWERS. 

I've saw A LOT OF ppl online complaining about this "Killer 1535" which indeed is a killer, a Wireless KILLER and everyone confirmed that is IMPOSSIBLE fix it, only replacing the card for an Intel one provided by DELL.

I already formatted, reinstalled ...did everything possible to make it stop disabling by itself and nothing worked.

Now I'm here demanding a wireless card replacement.

Action prompt frozen on screen

Inspiron 7537, win8. Connected iPhone6 to usb to charge phone. A prompt with instructions: tap to choose what happens with this device is frozen in the upper right hand corner of screen. Any idea how I clear this. I disconnected the phone from the usb hours ago and the prompt is still on screeen

flicker reappeared...had to roll back to A06

First, I would like to thank the helpful posts in this forum regarding 4K screen flicker on 9550.

When I first experienced screen flicker, I rolled back to Bios A06 on advise in this forum and the problem went away.

Sometime in Dec 2016, I installed Bios 1.2.18 (A16) when you guys said it fixed the flicker...and it did solve the flicker issue.

A couple of days ago, Dell prompted new updates and without checking what update, I clicked ok. The flicker came back and with a vengence...flicker plus horizontal lines...and frequent...making it hard to use the pc.

Since I did not know what was installed and with the aggressive flickering, I quickly reinstalled Bios 1.2.18.  It did not help.  I tried reinstall/update Nvidia driver..still very bad.

I traced back the earlier forum msg's and rolled back to bios A06 and the flicker stopped.

Q: can someone please tell me how to check what update versions of drivers and date of installation in my system so I can check ....last few days was kind of panic.  It is near CNY and I need my system for critical work over the weekend.  I am still concerned about the stability of my pc. 

Q: can someboby shed some light as to what may have happened that caused the flickering to come back?  Can I just stay with Bios A06 and disable all further updates?

Note: I think I just noticed a flicker (...so the system may not be all that stable...I think it is important to be able to check just what has been updates has been installed since 1.2.18 (stable) so maybe can reinstall each of the drivers subsequent to 1.2.18.

Battery issue

Hello,

I have dell inspiron 1440. From past week i am gettting problem with my battery, it charges upto 60% and then it shows pluged in but not charging.  I have tried on ubuntu as well as windows 10 in both os same issue is there. I have reinstalled quick set and microsoft battery driver. Also my battery condition is shown as fine in both dell battery meter and bios. Please help me with it.

My laptop left side hinge broke down after enquiring I came to know this is not covered in warranty and quotation provided to me for replacement and labour is 630 usd. You can imagine how Dell is making fool of its customer. Dell purchase inferior quality items from China  and when it is broken customer has to bear the price. My laptop is I7 5558 (15 months old) which I bought for around 800 usd and hinge which does not even falls into the category of technical part will cost 630 USD. Whole forum is full of this broken hinge problem . why cant Dell just replace it to all or least if people reach out to support they should replace it free of cost. Highly disappointed with Dell . I always thought Dell laptops are toughest and best in world. Mr Dell will be very happy to see how his company is sourcing inferior products and passing cost on to customer.  Truly amazing Dell way to go ... people will stop using your product one day.

Hi guys, my laptop (Inspiron 15 5559) won't turn on but the led light is white indicating it is charging. When I press the power button, the led blinks 2 amber lights followed by 4 white lights and repeats continuously.

Is there any manual I can check to see what the blinking led lights mean?

E7450 Keyboard timeout. How to change?

Hi! I desperately need to increase the timeout on the E7450 keyboard light. How can I do it? Windows 7 64 bit.

The Dell Feature Enhancements Pack does not work. It installs, it shows me the option, but as soon as I change any setting for the keyboard I get, instantly, a DLL error and that tie-in at the control panel fails.

I have a Dell-refurbished XPS 15 with a hybrid drive and want to replace it with an SSD. What are the procedures for doing this? For example, I heard that hybrid drives are installed with RAID mode so I should install my SSD in AHCI mode?

BIOS 1.2.18 causing laptop to turn off instead of sleep in Win 10

I've set Win 10 Power Options so that when I close my laptop lid or press Power button slightly, it would put the laptop to sleep rather than turn off. Last Friday I ran the update software because multiple reminders, part of that updated the BIOS, it took a while that's why I remembered. Now it seems no matter whether I close my laptop lid or press the Power Button slightly it would power off the laptop.

I searched this forum, just last month BIOS 1.2.16 corrected the power button/lid closing issue causing laptop to turn off instead of sleeping despite what those settings were set to do in Win 10 Power Options. Now it seems 1.2.18 cause this issue to come back again. 

Any solution? Thanks

New battery not charging

Hello, 

I have a Dell Precision M4700 with a 6 cells battery.

As it didn't work anymore, I bought a new one from Dell on Amazon, with 9 cells as it was said it was ok for my laptop.

I put it in on but it doesn't charge at all.

Is it a battery problem or a laprop problem?

wifi disabled and recieve Netwtw04 error after using Venue 11 pro 7140 a while

My device is Venue 11 pro 7140 (core m 5y71, 8g ram, 256gb ssd). Recently at the time I use my device for about 20 minutes(sometimes shorter), a exclamation mark appears on the wifi logo and in windows event viewer I recieve a lot of Netwtw04 error. The network disconnects. After powering down the device and wait a few minutes and power on, wifi seems normal. But in about 20 min the problem occurs again. The same thing happens also under ubuntu and even after I factory resetted(win 8). So I'm sure it shouldn't be the problem of drivers. I also found the problem shows up more frequently as I use the tablet more intensively.

XPS 13 (9350) error code 2000-1711 how to resolve?

Hi,

I have an XPS 9350 that apparently had a heat related event while using on an airline. During the flight the power supply got so hot it could burn. The laptop itself never generated a warning, but when I shut the laptop down it would never reboot.  

I sent the device into Dell who serviced the device by replacing the motherboard and reloading windows and returning to me.  Upon return the device booted once, then shut down and would not reboot.  After a lengthy back and forth I gave up on Dell support.  Unfortunately the device is now out of warranty and I am stuck trying to fix this on my own.  

The laptop will boot if I unplug the power supply, hold pwr/F12/D button for 30 seconds. The screen will illuminate and run through a series of shades (Red/green etc.) then shuts down.  When I plug the laptop back in it will boot to a Dell bios diagnosis screen which claims the device has encountered a heat related event "Temperature trip" (error code 2000-1711).  

I have gotten it to boot all the way to windows but then got a kmode_exception_not_handled error msg and BSOD. 

I have run a PSA scan that came back with no errors. 

  1. Is there a temp sensor or device corresponding to this error that trips in these events and may need replacement or resetting?  I would assume that when the MB was replaced this would have resolved this problem? 
  2. The battery sensor shows the battery as full and it keeps a charge.  Could this be the battery? 
  3. Harddrive? 
  4. Lastly, is there a means to reset the temp sensor?

Not sure what to do, would appreciate any assistance as I don't want to toss a perfectly good machine.

On January 4, 2017, Dell inadvertently posted a deal for WD Blue SSD WDS250G1B0A for $19.99. I placed an online order for three.  Dell immediately sent me a confirmation for my order. Five days later, they sent me an email to inform me my order has been cancelled, without any explanation. I immediately called to ask the reason for my cancellation.  All three Dell customer service reps told me because Dell posted the price in error.  Then I asked them "isn't that your fault and shouldn't you honor it"? The third and final customer service rep told me "it's not a human error. It's a system error that posted the wrong price". Then i replied "did your system randomly pick out the item and arbitrarily priced the item at $19.99"? His reply was "talk to corporate. we are not authorized to change this policy".  Nice!  Class up the Ying Yang.  By the way, just about every customer service rep for Dell is overseas, and i've had a difficult time understanding 70% what they said.

Dell, in case you sincerely want to change your image, perhaps you should learn a thing or two about customer service.  Even a small computer store like Fry's Electronics or a company as big as Newegg know that honoring the price you published is the right thing to do. This episode reminded me why i stopped buying from you (commercial and personal use) since 2006. 

M1210 CrystalDiskMark results seem very low?

I am trying to figure out if the results I'm seeing for my M1210 in CrystalDiskMark are normal for this computer or not. Please see the attachment. I know ATA is limited to like 150MB/s but the results I'm seeing for some of the write speeds are sooo low. Is it because I put an SSD in this old computer? I think this is a great computer and it runs Windows 10 surprisingly well considering it's 10 years old so I would like to get it running full speed, any help is appreciated.

BTW I found a driver online that gets the Nvidia graphics working on Windows 10, it's so smooth opening and closing basic apps like Edge.

Vostro 3458 Power Button

Checking to see if anyone else is having issues with the power button not working on Vostro 3458. While under warranty the top case and power button board were replaced. I have several doing the same thing. The button on the board works if you have the unit apart and press the actual button. It acts as thought the plastic from the top case is not pushing the power button itself. Some time I can place small holder paper between the two and it works. I am hoping for a more permeant solution.

It is bad enough that Dell makes a product with a defect affecting many of their unuts (bad hinge design/manufacture), but then makes a statement that part is specifically not covered under any of their warranties. 

C/mon Dell.  You created the problem, man-up to it.

User guide - need help with touchpad setup

I recently purchased an Inspiron 17 5000 series laptop, with Windows 7 Pro, and am having a lot of trouble setting up the touch pad and buttons to work the way I want them to. No matter what I try, the touch pad and buttons are too sensitive. If I move the pointer near a folder or file when in explorer a window opens telling me the file or folder is being moved and I have to quickly cancel the operation. If I move the pointer near an item on the task bar, the nearest program opens when I do NOT want it to. I've searched for instructions or a simple user guide and apparently Dell does not feel the need to provide anything but a quick start guide and a hardware replacement manual. Any specific help setting up the touch pad and buttons to work the way I want them to would be most helpful.
