I have an Inspiron 7559 that is failing to boot. It displays "(A7) Me FW Downgrade - Request MeSpiLock Failed" just after showing the white Dell logo.
I think my daughter turned it off when an automatic BIOS upgrade was started. The system was reporting the BIOS was at 1.2.0 but it couldn't see any USB drives. I ran BIOS recovery which left me with version 1.1.3 and the ability to see USB drives - still not able to boot into Windows 10.
I downloaded the latest firmware (1.2.1) and created a new bootable USB drive to update my firmware. If I run the Inspiron_7559_1.2.1.EXE from a DOS prompt or from the BIOS Flash Update option after hitting F12 it fails with "Unable to start a Secure Flash session".
Running from DOS:
I get promoted to Start to Flash: Y

Uploading the ROM into the BIOS completes.
Uploading the ME Capsule data into the BIOS completes.
Begin to update BIOS from version 1.1.3 to 1.2.1 fails with"Error: Unable to start a Secure Flash session."
I've tried various boot settings of UEFI/Secure, UEFI/NotSecure and Legacy. Also Dell DDDP and Rufus to make bootable DOS USB drives.
I've also tried using the recovery utility (hold esc + control when connecting in the AC power) with a USB and a BIOS_IMG.rcv - I get a black screen and 3 amber flashes followed by 4 while flashes on the LED. Without a USB I will get the recovery screen.
Diagnostics did not report any issues.
Would love to know what I need to do flash this laptop. This security stuff is really annoying.
Thanks!
