I purchased this stupid laptop like stuff in march 2016, I hardly use it for personal purposes, since I have a official laptop. Within 10 months, THE HINGE ON LEFT IS BROKEN, when I try to open it, the screen seems to detach from panel,  I have given to a authorized service centre in bangalore India,  they say it is not covered under warranty,  I have read so many people having similar experience with the laptop model,  seems to be a,  and still they dont want to admit it,  I am planning to go to <legalistic>,  because I have Invested my hard earned money to buy a branded product.  My invoice no is <private data>,  THIS IS MY LAST DELL PRODUCT.

Latitude E7270 Unknown Device

I'm getting unknown device in Device Manger of a Latitude E7270 laptop, which I install Windows 7 64Bit on. I've installed all the drivers on Dell support site and ran Windows Updates and also ran Dell Support Assist and other Dell Tools. However nothing is showing as hardware problem or needing driver updates. I've also tried the ST Micro  electronics driver without any luck.

Many thanks,

Dell Inspiron 13 7000 cracked screen

I have owned my Dell Inspiron for almost a year. About 4 months ago, I woke up and noticed a crack across my screen. At first I thought that it might have been some of my housemates that accidentally stepped on it. However, as I was thinking about it recently, that scenario seems highly unlikely as I kept my laptop closed and close to my bed when I wasn't using it. I was careful with it and didn't damage it in any way I can think of. I've owned several other laptops and never had a problem with cracked screens before. I've only now gotten around to calling Dell and asking for my laptop to be repaired to which they've said that it is not covered under warranty and that I have to pay over AUD600 for a new screen and additional AUD130,140 for it to be installed! That is ridiculously overpriced! Not to mention, that as I've been reading some of the forum posts on this page, it seems that the cracked screen is a designer flaw and not my carelessness.

Has this happened to some of you as well? What should I do?

A Question for Inspiron 15 7560 (7000) Owners - Display Colour Accuracy

$

Hello there,

I would really like to purchase the Dell Inspiron 15 7560 here in the UK. I would mostly use it for writing and light photo and video editing, with the odd bit of digital art thrown in.

Unfortunately, there are very few reviews out there on this model and I have been unable to find out how colour accurate the display is. I'm looking at the Adobe RGB and the sRGB here.

Do any of you that own this laptop know the percentage of colours the display can cover....or have the means to test it for me?

Thanks so much for your time and help!!

External keyboards have random occurrences of keys repeating

Got a user with a Latitude E7470 on a ePort Plus dock, external mouse and keyboard, dual monitors - all connected to the dock.

The problem:  Sometimes keystrokes repeat themselves - docs, email, spreadsheets, etc. - and it isn't always the same key, nor are the number of repititions of the keystroke the same.

Tried adjusting the key-strike sensitivity in Control Panel; also swapped out to a different make keyboard (new, too).  No change in behaviour.

I'm getting time with it later today to do some troubelshooting.  Thought I'd update the BIOS and other Dell drivers, and run the on-line Dell diagnostic.  I think it might be the USB controller, but it's just a guess.

Any ideas on what to focus on?

Solutions to dealing with hardware problems on my Dell Inspiron N5010.

I have an old Dell Inspiron N5010 with

      4 GB RAM

      Intel core i5

ATI Raedon HD 5470 graphics card (1 GB)

It is about 4-5 years old, so warranty is definitely void.
I have been running into some pertinent issues lately. Specifically,

1. Sometimes the screen does not start up when I power the laptop on-not even the DELL booting screen shows (basically the display ain't on)

2. The computer is persistently getting hot even during light use-like right now while web browsing

3. The computer suddenly switches off at times (happened about 3 times in the last month so far)

4. Its display corrupts when I run a disk defrag. Previously, there was that one time when the screen corrupted right from the boot screen and the next day, this problem just disappeared. The sceen had blue lines and corrupted blue pixels. It happened a couple of times even later but then I ignore it. I thought I should mention it here.

There are no problems on the software side because I have reinstalled the operating system several times- to no avail.

Hello all,

I'm new in this forum,
can someone of you share me to get high traffic with natural way?
You can check Accounting software videos one of my work.
Any suggestions?

Many Thanks !

Secure Erase Samsung PM851 mSATA SSD?

$

Hello all,

One way to fully erase an SSD is to erase and repartition the drive, then fill the new partition, forcing the drive to overwrite the blocks. But I know there is a simple low-level command to tell most SSDs to erase all blocks. How can I do this? The SSD in question is a Samsung PM851 from a Latitude E7250. Is there a BIOS command I can run on the laptop? I currently have the mSATA drive removed from the laptop and it's in an external case, but I can reinstall it into the laptop if a BIOS command is needed. Samsung won't support the drive as it's only sold to OEMs.

I have seen that the program "Parted Magic" claims to be able to do this - but I shouldn't need to purchase something to erase a drive like this. What is the command I need to send to the drive? How do I do it using Dell supported methods? It should be a quick and easy thing to do.

Thanks

How to move Windows from HDD to SSD? URGENT!

Hi everyone!

I have just bought SSD disk of 240 gb and own 5447 model with 500gb HDD. Windows 8 was set on the laptop from the box and now its windows 10, after the update.

Iam still doubt about the way of replacing Windows to the new SSD disc. I see 2 options to move windows to new disc, but not sure which is right:

1) To clone it via Acronis or smth like that on a USB flash. Heard I cant do it with smaller size of SSD, than my HDD.

2) Or  install Windows from the scratch (download image from Windows.com) maybe with a boot flash? But if this way, so what about the license?  I know its embedded in BIOS, will it accept a new windows license request during the install?

Thanks in advance for your answers

"Plugged in, not charging" error

I've had my Dell Inspiron 5558 for just over a year at this point, and for the last six months or so I've been getting the common "plugged in, not charging" error most of the time when I plug my laptop in. The solution I've been using and the only way to get my laptop to charge right now seems to be to open a bunch of tabs and start programs, plugging and unplugging the laptop until the charge light comes on and it charges normally. I'm at a loss as to why this happens but it does usually work. I found the recent BIOS update which I hoped would fix the error and have installed it but nothing changed. Do I need to order a new battery (or charger?) Any help would be appreciated. I have a Dell Inspiron 5558 running Windows 10.

Issue installing Epson V550 S/W on Inspiron 1501

Greetings All,

Before I start, I understand that this is an old computer with an old operating system but I have two (2) desktops (OEM) that have no issues.

I purchased a Epson Perfection V550 scanner the other day and I'm having issues with the software installation.  The laptop is Inspiron 1501 with Windows XP (Media Center Edition).  There is something conflicting with the software installation within the Windows XP (MCE) that is not in the Windows XP Professional version.  The software that came with the scanner was successfully installed into two (2) ASUS desktop computers that have Windows XP Professional installed with SP3.  I'm wondering what the main difference is between the two (2) what should be similar operating systems that is preventing the software from successfully installing on my Inspiron 1501.  I already went through Epson Technical Support when steered me to Dell, but considering that the computer is ten (10) years old and the operating system is not supported (April 8, 2014) I figured that maybe someone here may be able to help.

Thank you for reading this post and hope that maybe someone may shed some light on what could be causing this problem.  Just on other thing to add is one of the desktop computer has the same software installed (aka: Office, Photoshop, National Instrument, etc.) on it that I have on the 1501.

Regards,

Scott

Vostro 3460. No Post/Splash Screen. No Boot

I have a Dell Vostro 3460 which we purchased from Dell 4-5 years ago. 2 years ago we had to replace the hard drive but otherwise has operated generally well. A couple of days ago it was shut down normally for the night but the following morning the machine did not start.

After trying a few things the machine did start and ran normally. Shut the machine down, no start. After more tinkering it started again and ran alright. Scanned the machine for malware - clean. Ran a system file check (though that shouldn't stop the splash screen) and no corrupt files found. Shut the machine down and no start.

We have:

1. Removed the battery and tried  the machine on AC only.

2. Held the power button down while it was NOT connected to the AC or battery to force discharge the RAM

3. Attached a different AC power supply at a different AC power source (both used by another laptop without issues) - no response.

4. Held the Fn button while turning on the unit (with no apparent results)

The machines power LED light comes on and the 3 utility buttons (upper right corner above the keyboard) cycle through (they light up) but nothing beyond that. No boot up sounds when listening to the unit.

Any thoughts?

New XPS 15: Does it Have a GTX 1050 Ti?

$

Some people are saying it doesn't since the thinking is they would surely advertise it.  The thing is, the Nvidia card in the XPS 15 is said to have 4GB of memory, which sort of points to the Ti version.  According to Dell support, it does have the 1050 Ti but they failed to mention it on the website accidentally.  So which is it?  Regular 1050 or 1050 Ti?  Can anyone with an XPS 15 check for us?

BitLocker issue with Latitude E5450 and Windows 10

Hello, I'm having a problem enabling BitLocker on Windows 10 v1607 during an SCCM task sequence for one model laptop: Dell Latitude E5450 -- except that it does work about 10% of the time.  I haven't been able to narrow it down to a specific hardware problem and different BIOS update versions and drivers also result in mixed successes (even on the same exactly laptop).  Strangely, the E5450 model has worked historically with the Windows 10 LTSB 2015 version and BitLocker.

Models in our environment that work 100% off the time (with the same exactly task sequence) include Latitude E6430, E5440, and E5470.  We're using SCCM Current Branch and PXE boot for OS deployment.  We do not have any integration with MDT or MBAM.  With the E5450s, when it fails it does so at the SCCM default Enable BitLocker step. The Enable BitLocker step is configured for TPM Only, create recovery key in Active Directory, and Wait for BitLocker to complete.  Also, prior to being built, the computers will have the TPM manually cleared in the BIOS (if previously BitLockered) and the disks formatted at the beginning of the build.

Here's a snippet from the smsts logs (task sequence logs) for the Enable BitLocker step on a failed build:

Command line: "OSDBitLocker.exe" /enable /wait:True /mode:TPM /pwd:AD
Initialized COM
Command line for extension .exe is "%1" %*

On successful builds, the snippet is the exact same up to the "Protecting key with TPM only" line.  At that point, it continues with the following before moving on to the next step:

Protecting key with TPM only

Encrypting volume 'C:'

Reset FVE group policy registery key

Reset FVE group policy registry key in Windows 7

Reset FVE OSV group policy registery key

I'm mostly wondering if anyone has seen the errors "Failed to enable key protectors (0x8028005A)" or "The context blob is invalid. (Error: 8028005A; Source: Windows)" -- or has any idea of what could cause this issue.  Thank for you any help you can provide!

Plugged in, Charging but neither plugged in nor charging

Hello,

My 90W charger pin got damaged and was replaced with wrong connections. When plugged in my running Dell Inspiron 15R, the laptop crashed immediately but was able to turn on after removing charger and removing and reinstalling battery. Now used a working 65w charger from colleague with same laptop model and when plugged shows "Plugged In, Charging" but battery discharges to 0 percent and laptop crashes. Laptop doesnt even turn on now without battery when plugged in. At the moment using my colleagues laptop to charge my battery and use till battery discharges. Further, now date and time also gets reset to 1st Jan 2013 everytime battery removed.

What part is damaged. Can it be bypassed? I dont want to send it for 1 month to get repaired.

Please help.

Regards,

Tabby

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 5748. Out of nowhere, my laptop reboots then displays the message that no internal hard disk is found. I've run the ePSA a few times, reseated the hard drive, then re-run the tests. Every test, particularly the hard drive, passes. Any guidance?
