Dell - why aren't you helping your customers with this issue! Not acceptable for a 20 year loyal customer! I'm out of warranty by 30 days, but I understand it was not ever covered under warranty. NOT GOOD. You know this is a common issue, why are you ignoring us. I was just told the repair would cost be $269 and I need a new LCD. WHAT!!!!! If you do not repair this for free I will be sure to pursue further action. Please help! Thank you.

XPS 15 9530 - FAN RUNNING CONSTANTLY + LAG WHILE USING DEMANDING APPS
Hello,
For a while now, the fan on my XPS is been running pretty much constantly, even now, as I type this entry, with only the browser and MS-Word running.
Also, using adobe Illustrator, there is a marked lag between drawing and design materialising. Clearly, the fan and lag issues are symptoms of the same thing, but what is it?
I have 63.5Gb left on my 1Tb hard disk. Is that enough for my machine to remain sharp?

Inspiron 17 5759 Won't Power On
Hello,
My laptop is experiencing problems in that it will not turn on. I have attempted (all unsuccessful)
1) Removing the battery, holding the power button for 60 seconds, and applying AC power (still without battery).
2) Re-seating the battery.
3) Holding the power button for 60 seconds (battery installed). AC power applied for 30 minutes.
Nothing works. Now, I'm sure there is a diagnostic message hidden here. When I press the power button, the Caps Lock flashes once. The battery light will then flash twice amber, then four times white. I can find no information anywhere on this site exactly what that means (other than I'm screwed).
The laptop isn't even a year old and I'm on business travel to Malaysia. So kind of not happy right now.
Anyone know what the flashing lights mean? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Dell L502X fan nearly always at full speed
Good morning everybody.
I have a nasty problem with my Dell L502X. Some time ago I gave it to a technician to mount an SSD in place of the mechanic disk, and the problem began.
The laptop returned to me with the fan running nearly at full speed, and the led/buttons at the top, the ones near to the wifi leds not turning on, and not working at all.
We tried a lot of solutions:
- Change the OS back to Windows 7 and BIOS flashing
- Substitution of the fan
- Substitution of the mother board
All of these did not solve the problem. What could be the solution? I'm thinking that the led bar (bettere: the little card that manages it) causes this issue, but how could it be possible? Any idea? I can't believe it's SSD's fault.

Pressing Backspace key hibernates on Dell E5470 and E5250

Inspiron 15 7000 (7579) Hinge Issue
Hello,
I had purchased the Dell 15 7579 2-in-1 laptop in December 2016. Few hours into my use, the right hinge got locked while closing the laptop and I wasn't able to close the laptop. As I subtly tried to close the lid I observed the display lid opening up from the sides (As shown in the image below), hence I stopped right there to avoid any further complications. I did go to the carry-in service center nearby and they said a part of the hinge assembly seems to be broken and needs to be replaced but it won't be covered under warranty.
Though the Dell support team has been very supportive throughout, what I'm really disappointed in is the fact that the hinge gave away within just few hours despite my careful usage. Even the service center team is witness to no external damage being evident on my laptop. It's so frustrating to have to pay for the whole hinge assembly for a laptop this new. Is this the Dell Experience for new customers who're stranded in such situations?
I really hope someone from Dell reading this could actually act and deliver a solution and not the usual "Our policies don't allow..." Also, I have come across lot of hinge issues being raised across online channels.
This is absolutely unfair on the part of the customer to bear this cost for a part that didn't last for a few hours. Dell must consider reaching out and looking into this beyond their "Hinge Policy".

Lot bough in a auction - Reset Bios adm password Dell Vostro 3400
we're in recycling business and recently we bought in a public auction 79 dell vostro 3400 i3 notebook.
happen that theses system used to be from university located in florida and all of the notebook have a administrator password.We have access to the bios. but on boot only the hard drive and network are enabled. everything else is locked ( USB, CDROM, WIFI, Etc,etc ),I call the university IT department to see if may they tell me the password Info, and they said Nope, they don't give that info to no one. Then I'd contact dell support and after 3 hours on the phone they provide me a very long master password for one system, I input more than 10 times and didn't worked, i called back and they told me that mother board have to be changed and the cost can be between $200~ $700. So i tried some conventional ways and many programs to reset bios with no luck. So i figure it that in order to install windows it might can be installed from the network (because is enabled), then we I bough a Adapter Ethernet RJ11 to Female USB, i've conected to the vostro with a usb stick containing windows installations and when machine booted and after Pressed "F12" i have no network to select as a boot, i have a Hardrive and "Bios pci" to be selected either one, so at that point i select the "Bios PCI" and is not booting from ethernet-USB.
Please, any help or suggestion from Dell gurus?,

Power Manager Custom Charge not working
Hi,
I have a Latitude e7450 that has a problem whereby the threshold values set to enable/disable charging are ignored (Power Manager , Custome Setting , start charge 50% , stop charge 90%). This has only occured following a fresh install of Windows 10. That part was working before under a previous build of Win 10 (just other issues meant a fresh install).
The BIOS settings reflect the 50/90 % values but regardless of the battery % level everytime the charger is plugged in it starts charging.
Am I missing some additional software ?

Double spacing when typing
I have a new Kaby Lake I7 XPS 13. I have 2 issues.
First is poor battery life (balanced plan 50% display brightness getting about 4 hours)
The second issue is the keyboard. It all works perfectly apart from every fourth or fifth word it adds an extra space between words. I see this has been an issue for other Dell laptops in the past.
I've updated all drivers and the BIOS from the website so everything is up to date.
Anyone else seen issues like this and know of a solution?

I Got This Computer 27 Days Ago for Christmas Used it is 6 years old and the warranty expired 3 years ago its an old military rig but ever since i got it i have gotten Blue Screen errors Saying Memory_Management And then it does a memory dump and restarts what is wrong and how can i fix this?

Dell Inspirion 13 5738 New BIOS (1.4.0) breaks 32 GB RAM support
Hi,
I know that it has never been official to have 32 GB RAM support on this machine,
however I have been able to use it with absolute zero issue ever since, then I upgraded the BIOS to 1.4.0 from whatever came with the machine, the computer never booted. It stops at a screen saying "Boot Guard Verified Failed, System wil shutdown"
Only if I removed 1 strip of the pair of RAM it starts to work again.
While then I try to down-grade the BIOS simply by running the older version's exe files, on rebooting when it tried to install it, it said down-grade is not supported.
Not only did I spend a day debugging everything just to find this out (I was told by two technicians that my mainboard was dead and i should send it backl), now Dell is taking away the supprt which was originally there, plus no down-grading?
It would be great if there is a fix, not only am I wasting 16 GB of RAM, I also lost the dual-channel capability which essentially hampered the graphics performance.

Inspiron 7537 beeps 5 times even after replacing the CMOS battery
Hi,
I have a 2 years old Inspiron 7537, it is working perfectly and out of warranty.
It beeps 5 times in Dec 2016 and I sent it to a shop to replace the CMO battery. it fixed the issue.
Then on Jan 2, I drained the laptop battery (not CMO battery) during a trip. It now continues to beep 5 times again.
Should i replace the CMO battery again or it is something else ? i drained my laptop battery a couple times before but don't think it will do anything to the CMO battery.
I did all the possible dell diagnostic and they all passed.
I can replace the CMO battery again but just want to make sure that i am fixing the root cause.
May I please have your comment.

Failed Bios Update and Other Problems
A Dell laptop that I got around September worked fine at first, but about two weeks ago it stopped charging. I was meet with messages that said the charger adapter type and power could not be determined. Though my battery would not charge, it was still able to use energy provided by the adapter to run. After getting sick of not being able to unplug my laptop, I stumbled upon this post: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19451836
The employee who responded to this post claimed there was a fix to this problem, that fix being a BIOS update. I followed the instructions given. I downloaded the system detect program as to not use the wrong files. After it detected what system I had, it gave me the appropriate files. Keep in mind, I am still on Dells website and following the advice of a Dell employee. After the files had downloaded, I double-clicked and ran it. I was given a prompt that I should close all other programs before a continued with the update. I did so. After that, things went down hill. It got through a small portion of the update before my mouse froze. The fans in my laptop were on full blast. I had no choice but to hard reset. Now my laptop is unable to boot. I am at a loss as what to do. I cannot afford a new laptop; the money just isn't there. I can't repair it either, money still being a huge issue. I am taking very demanding courses in school right now; a computer is a necessity, not just a need if I wish to be successful.
I would not have made this post if it were not for the fact that this was the advice of a certified Dell employee, and I followed the instructions of Dell and I used files that were provided by Dell. I was given no waning that doing a BIOS update could result in this. Because of this, I believe that Dell should be able to compensate me in some way.
