Dell inspiron 3420 no display

I have dell inspiron 3420 core i5, 8GB DDR-3 ram, 1TB HDD laptop. My laptop is working fine. But if i shutdown the laptop and power on it. It power comes but display does not come. I have to unplug BIOS battery, Main battery and AC Power cord and keep it unplugged for 10-30 mins. After the plugin only AC cord i have to try try several time powering on and off to bring display. Once display comes it runs fine. So I do not shut down my Laptop I always keep it in sleep mode. Any solution for this problem. I have latest version bios installed. I changed ram but no solution .

Please help me...


Problem to switch graphics adapter in Inspiron 5567

I recently purchase a Inspiron 15(5567) laptop which has both AMD and Intel graphics card. And the machine uses Intel graphics card by default. how can I switch the graphics adapter from Intel to AMD in a Inspiron 5567 laptop?

Inspiron 15 7000 series 7559 - Touchscreen stops working after opening lid more than 90 degrees

Hi all,

I received my Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series 7559 a few days ago, and noticed that sometimes my touchscreen would stop working. I would shut down the laptop (and usually close the lid), then later turn it back on and the touchscreen would be working again.

When the touchscreen was not working, it would show up as an error under the Device Manager -> Universal Serial Bus Controllers -> "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)".

What I noticed was that I could always fix the problem by 1) Moving my screen to 90 degrees open or less, and then 2) Restarting the laptop OR from Device Manager disable then re-enable the unknown USB device.

It is a consistent issue, I can use the touchscreen for a day or longer without rebooting as long as the screen stays no more than 90 degrees open, but as soon as I open the screen just a bit wider (to the max open width, I'd say about 105 degrees where the hinges no longer allow it to open), the touchscreen stops working within a couple seconds and then the USB error starts showing up under the Device Manager.

 It's unfortunate because when it's sitting on my lap and I want to use the touchscreen, opening the lid all the way is the most comfortable viewing angle so I'd really prefer to be able to do it. I'm also thinking about opening up the case and looking for a loose connection, but with a brand new laptop I'd really rather not.

Anyway I wonder if anyone else has seen this issue, or has a solution better than "don't open the lid all the way"?

Final note, I have the laptop version with 4K screen, i7-6700hq processor, Nvidia GTX960m. I installed all drivers and driver updates including BIOS, chipset, display driver, etc. and am completely up to date with Windows 10 updates as well. None of that has made a difference with my issue. Tried running the Windows hardware troubleshooter, with no effect.

Latitude E5520 Boot Issues

I power on, screen shows Dell logo like it is starting, then it goes to Windows Error Recovery, then to Windows Boot Manager which tells me if I don't have the boot disc to contact system administrator etc.  It shows a Status of:  Oxc000000f, whatever that means.  I hit the enter key and it takes me back to Windows Recovery which will not let me do anything.  Also on the Windows Boot Manager for Info it says:  The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. I ran the diagnostics full and everything checked out as being okay.  So basically I cannot get past these two screens.

Inspiron 13 7378, Fan making noise

I just received an Insprion 13 7378 and the fan is making alot of noise. I have updated the BIOS, made sure that the vents are not covered and updated all drivers.

Any suggestions?

Latitude E6440 Display Has No Backlight

The backlight on the display of my E6440 died. I can use the computer with an external monitor, but I really need to be able to use the integrated screen. I've read about changing the inverter, but could find no posts that listed the part number of the inverter, so I thought it might be integral with the screen. I replaced the screen but it made no difference.

Is the inverter the next thing to try, and if so, what is the part number?

Dell 7352 AC Charger / Battery Issue

I have a Dell Inspiron 13 7352 2 in 1 laptop. I keep getting an error message saying that my 45W AC charger is not recognized and my laptop will not charge. Im using the packed in charger that came with my laptop. Ive taken out the battery, ive updated drivers. Ive updated the bios. I bought a new dell AC adapter (45W) which worked for a few days then stopped. The only thing that is working right now is using a 65W charger. However the 45W one does not work. I dont know if the 65W one will eventually stop working and would like a permanent fix. 

Intel SATA driver update fails

Long time issue...Finally took a moment to post.

I can't install the latest version of the Intel Sata Driver package on my Precision M4700.The problem is the same whether I install directly from download or via DELL COMMAND | UPDATE

The update fails and complains that .NET framework 4.5 is required. I have .NET 4.6.1 installed, I was assuming this supersedes 4.5.

What should I do ? Go back to .NET 4.5, install the driver then reinstall .NET 4.6.1 ?


problem with Dell inspiron 7559 thouchpad, behaving wired and slow response

Hi, 

I got this laptop few months back. I am having a problem with the touchpad. It is not responsive sometime, sometimes there is so much lag between response. Overall it is so irritating while using it. My drivers are up to date. can somebody suggest any solution?

I have tried to search it online and called to sales and parts & accessories department but they were not able to tell me where can I get the part.

Something wrong with keyboard??

 Ok so for a couple of months now, i have had this problem where when typing the cursor jumps to the front of the text and sticks there until i press the windows key. When watching youtube videos the video randomly jump to the beginning and sticks like it cant pass 0.01 and restarts after i press the windows key. The scroll bar on websites go straight up and cant be scrolled down until i press the windows key. Do i  need a new laptop . Does this happen to anyone else. OR is it just some key ??

This annoys me so much.. you have no idea how much times it happended for this.

Intel Management Components Installer

Ladies and Gents, 

I have an XPS 15 9550 , and i am updating the drivers through the DELL site. 

the Detect drivers action showed me that 3 drivers needs to be installed. 

Chipset |Intel(R) Management Engine Components Installer

Chipset |Intel Serial IO Driver

BIOS |Dell XPS 15 9550 1.2.16 System BIOS

I clicked the download and install and the action was completed successfully.

But when i return to the site to verify the drivers, it shows again the same three drivers in the list.

Last thing i did was to manually download and install the Intel Management Engine Components, and install it manually. 

the result was an interruption of the install 

"the program ended prematurely because of the following error: Another version of this product is already installed... "

i tried uninstall / reinstall.. .repair.. but wasn't successful.

I don't know why the BIOS and the Serial IO drivers are not installed too... but one thing at a time :)

Problem with installing m2 PCIe NVME on Precision 5510

I recently bought a Precision 5510 and it comes with 125GB m2 ssd and wondows 10.  So I decided to upgrade to a bigger capacity of hard drive.  So I bought a 512GB m2 PCIe NVME Toshiba XG3 THNSN5512GPU7.  But after I installed it, the laptop won't recognition it as NVME but regular SSD.  I want to use it as its full potential.  Please help.

I have a Dell U2711 monitor. I have been using it with my Mac (bare with me!) for several years without a problem. I am looking at switching back (my current mac is showing some issues) and getting the New XPS 13. What I am now concerned about is whether my monitor will work at all. As it is an older monitor, I doubt it can do DisplayPort Alt Mode, let alone HDMI. Because of the issues with current Dell docks, I am looking at the Kensington SD4600P. Has anyone had any success using this monitor with any current dell laptop?

Inspiron 7720 - boot only to the bios setup

Hello all. After manipulations with efibootmgr my laptop can't boot from amy drives, only into bios setup. Last change - boot order. The first boot candidtate was selected as 0000, setup. And now I can't revert this change because my laptop boot only into bios setup.  When F12  key pressed i6n boot process, 'F12 Boot Options' label in bottom right conned is highlighted, but boot into bios setup instead. How to restore bot manager on my Dell Inspiron 7720?  Did I have any chanse to resolve my problem? Thank you wery much for any helpful advice.

Warranty replacement of Inspiron AC adapter

I have an active case on an Inspiron where the AC adapter has an intermittent connection between the AC cable and the AC/DC adapter body.    It has been flaky for some time but has recently prompted me to put in a warranty replacement request before I get to the 1 year anniversary.    The support personnel seem insistent on making this a wear and tear issue when clearly it isn't (the adapter just lies there all the time, no stress is imposed).   They have twice pointed out that they would gladly replace it if I had Complete Care on the laptop (damage, accident coverage).  I have replied that this is completely unacceptable and they need to re-evaluate this response, but I want to know how I can file a complaint if they maintain course.   Thanks in advance for any council I could get on this matter.

Laptop doesn't connect with Wireless keyboard and mouse

My two year old Inspiron 15r 5537 running Windows 8.1 has stopped recognizing the dell KM632 wireless mouse and keyboard I got with it.
In Device Manager, the wireless USB receiver is flagged when it is inserted.  When I look at the properties for the flagged USB receiver, it shows an error code 28 and indicates the device's driver is not present.  When I try to get Windows to find a driver for it, it can't find one online or on the computer.  It didn't come with any installation files, and there's no driver on the Dell KM632 support site.
I've tried moving the receiver to another USB port - no luck.  The USB ports are able to report firmware data (i.e. the KM632 model number) from the USB receiver and work with an external hard drive, so they're okay.  The KM632 works on another computer so it's okay too.
It appears I just need to somehow get the KM632 driver back.

Dell XPS15 99550 i7/16GB 4K 500 SSD - Last bios update -1.2.16 System BIOS - big issues

Hello All,


3 days ago I applied the latest bios update to my 1-year old XPS15, running latest and fully patched 64 bit Windows 10 public release.

Since then

A) plugin a rather simple USB-3 hub into the system prevents the laptop from Booting into BIOS, or if manages to do that

B) plugin said USB-3 hub after full windows boot, freezes both USB ports devices.  The unfreeze can be overcame by unplugging the hub and then other device and then re-pluging both

C) after step B, windows explorer becomes very unstable and does not even show all the folder contents to some programs "open file" function.

D) the system does not recover anymore from plain S3 sleep, triggering a windows hard reboot.

I'm afraid the bios option to roll-back the bios version was not active, so I'm stuck.

Finally, the latest Intel diver published at the same time does not install cleanly after the bios update (although I managed to get it to show in the "program files" section.

I always apply the latest updates for drivers and bios promptly as main security policy and so far the system has behaved very well (Maybe with the exception of Hibernation from sleep time out, which always has been a bit faulty)
