Dell Insperon 15 7548 Touchpad occasionally stops working

$

Hi, occasionally my touchpad will become less responsive. It will only move a couple of inches and stop no matter how much I move my finger and I"ll have to lift my finger and put it back on and it will move a couple of more inches. After a minute of this it will stop responding entirely.

My computer and keyboard is still responding. I can alt tab around and restart with keyboard commands. It's just the touchpad.

If I reset the touchpad will work normally for a while, sometimes a week and sometimes for only a few minutes and it will stop working again.

Here's what I've tried to fix it.

Enable and disabling touchpad

Try to update driver from device manager

A factory reset of the OS.

So far the problem still persists. Have any of you encountered this and have found a fix?

I use this laptop for work on occasion and it's a major bummer and interrupts my work.

There's still warranty  left, can I submit this problem and get it fixed potentially?

Obtaining an ISO image:

For some systems you can obtain Dell operating system images through Dell Hosted image

Note: not all systems and service tags will have an image available.

Note: Even though the Dell Hosted Images have USB3, they may not include the IRST driver at this time. ( some may know this at the F6 driver ). You'll need to install the IRST driver manually during the Windows install process.

Dell is currently working to add the IRST driver to the Dell Hosted Images. No ETA on when this will happen at this time.

Dell 5405 rugged new but without foam behind lids?

hi, a friendly hello to all, I am new here :)

I have a question regrading a newly purchased 5405 Rugged 14' laptop. I bought it as Dell factory refurbish on ebay and it was delivered in a sealed Dell box,  never opened, therefore straight from Dell as factory refurbished.

My problem now is that I noticed, that all water and dust foam/rubber pieces behind the USB and other lids are missing. Therefore dust and dirt will easy enter.

I am afraid there wont be even a dust seal under the keyboard.

Is this a factory refurbished issue or normal?

thanks for any ideas

Chris

I have a Precision M4600 that is very slow to charge.  I am using the DA130 AC /DC adapter.  It is taking 2 hours to go from 5% to 15% charged. That seems way too long.

Am I using the correct charger?

Hi ,

Today my network adapter (dell 1830) stopped connecting to my home network.

every time I try to connect it says can't connect to this network. other computers in the house, phones, media players etc can connect to the network.

I have re-installed drivers on network adapter, reset network in windows. It appears to be an issue with the dell, I tried to connect it to my phones hotspot and it would not connect even with no security.

I have tried everything on this page

any Ideas??

Greetings,

Yesterday my computer suddenly went to a blue screen, with that appeared this "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer."

Unfortunately I did not manage to get much more than that because my laptop then restarted.

I ran a system check via "My Dell" and another error about memory came up.

Error code 2000-0123

Validation 22743

Msg: Memory - integrity test discrepancy

Does anyone know what this problem is and how to fix it? Please help.

Bluetooth Security Tag

XPS 17 L702X  running Windows 10. During windows log in, the system calls for Bluetooth Security Tag? Where do I get the security tag?

When system boots into windows the Bluetooth shows that it is paired, however, Microsoft mouse will not work.

I have to delete paired Bluetooth mouse and re pair the mouse for it to work. This happens every time I boot into windows. This is a fairly new occurrence.

Is it because I am signing in without the Bluetooth Security Tag?

Thanks!

Hello,

My laptop  (Dell Inspiron 15 model 3531) turned off and will not turn back on. I've tried removing the battery and using the power cord, however, every time I plug the power cord in the light on it turns off. I've tried removing the battery and pressing the power button down for 30 seconds and then plugging the power cord back into it, with the battery in.....same, no beeping or anything. I don't know if it's under warranty as I got it from school and they are now closed (ITT TECH). I have an older inspiron, but this one had all of my programs from school. Thank you for your help.

Power adapter pins

I have a Inspiron 15 3541 touch screen and "misplaced" my power cord and adapter. I'm using a Dell adapter from a different computer, but when I turned on my laptop, I get a message requiring a system or admin password even before it boots up. Is this because of the different adapter? How many pins did my adapter have? What problems does a different adapter create?

Is the m3800 touchpad the same as the xps15 touchpad? My m3800's touchpad has started to rise and is now about 1mm above the palm rest and is not really able to click. I want to try swapping it out, but can't find any replacement m3800 touchpads. However, xps 15 touchpads are pretty easy to find - would I be able to put the xps 15 touchpad into my m3800?

dell power companion 18000 not charging

$

Hi,

My dell power companion 18000 didn't charge.  I plugged in my power companion to the AC adapter and it basically said 5 leds thinking it is fully charged.    Holding down the power button for 10 seconds, then letting go shows 1 constant led.  Again no problem.   Plugging in the battery to my latitude laptop doesn't charge at all.  Tapping the button once on the power companion turns it on and briefly (15 seconds) charges my laptop and then stops.  I did this maybe 5 more times and then the power companion was completely dead.  Tapping the power button shows no leds showing.  Holding down the power button again shows no leds.  This battery is now completely dead.  I plug my dell ac adapter into it and the battery now starts charging (shows 1 led).  Eventually it shows 2, 3, 4 ,5 leds and shows it is fully charged.  I still need to test how much power it really has but I think it is fully charged.

This is the interesting bit.  I think there is a bug where it doesn't properly show the correct amount of power it has when it close to dead.  Because the battery thinks it is fully charged, it doesn't charge itself at all even though it is almost dead.   Probably there is no way to fix this unless there is a way to update the firmware through the power cord.

Dell uses some cheap ink and it shows.  My power companion isn't close to a year old and the ink is really coming off.  They should use better stuff but who cares about dell quality control?

Replacement "feet" for XPS 13 laptop

One of the two "feet" on my 15 month old XPS13 laptop came loose and after two attempts to cut and save the rest, I had to pull the entire foot off.  Now the rough edge is a problem.  How do I obtain a reasonably priced replacement to glue into place?  I own two of these laptops and I'm concerned that I'll end up replacing all of them, so do you have a better adhesive to use than was first used during manufacture?

Hi all

I am trying to use the internet connection on my Xperia Z3compact from my XPS13 9350 using Bluetooth.

I can setup the connection and I do get internet connectivity on the XPS13. However shortly after I set up the connection between the two devices, I get a blue screen on the XPS13 with the message "INVALID_MDL_RANGE". This happens every time. I have found the following reference to this stop code:

http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#0x0000012E

I am using Windows 10 1607 with atest updates on the XPS13 and

Android 6.0.1 build 23.5.A.0.575 on the Xperia Z3c

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Hi you all,

i'm having issues with mbam here, not running encryption, some how they are existing machines, so i did work once lol. i tried several troubleshooting and i'm stuck. I think dell stopped produce this model, might be bios issue but the latest v. a10 doesn't work. Task sequence and encryption does work in all others models i have here, i do believe could be the usb nic, you need be careful once use their mac add in other machine it might not work for a different one, gpo would not recognize a sequence task for your computer. there is a small setup for reset that but not the case here, What i was looking at its the mbam admin log, and basically i've got is "access denied by the remote endpoint" task category "volume Enactment failed" while applying mbam policies . if anyone has got same problem and sort it out, would be great a lil help here, thanks .
