When scrolling in Windows 10 using the trackpad of the XPS 15 9550, sometimes scrolling is extremely slow. (You can scroll, and physically sit back and wait for the scrolling to finish.)

I noticed this in windows which contain a treeview (e.g., the left pane of the Windows explorer, foobar2000 album view), and not (yet) in other windows (e.g., Chrome, or the right pane in the Windows explorer).

When plugging in an external mouse and using this to scroll, this does not occur, indicating a possible issue with the trackpad drivers or settings?

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Hello, I would like to seek help if anybody can give me some solution.

Earlier today, I had just problems with my laptop. It shu down by itself then a message appeared "No boot device found." I tried pressing any key several times, then I shut I down and cooled it off. After a while, I was able to open it again.

Then after a couple of hours, I was in bed and was just watching something, my laptop shut down by itself again. This time, no message appeared, I unplugged right away and can smell something might be burning inside.

I tried cooling it off again, but when I tried turning it on - the power light appears but nothing in the screen. Many times I tried this. Then when I gave up, I noticed the power light going from orange to white then gone then repeat. So I tried turning it on through long press, but to no avail. I dunno how I'm gonna remove the batteries, I thought of it, but it's screwed. I'm afraid I might mess up more if I open it up

Would appreciate any piece of advice that can be given soonest.

Whenever my e6430 wakes up from sleep, it locks the maximum speed to 2.4ghz, usually i runs at 3.1-3.3 whenever i'm doing something intensive. Restarting the laptop fixes it and allows it to reach the 3.1-3.3 cpu speeds but it's not really a convenient solution.

Any ideas? Thanks.

dell inspiron 11 3000 wifi just stopped working. Have tried all the trouble shooting and rest system 2 times. I took card out and reinserted like someone suggested no help. All test say no driver found, I tried a driver thru usb adapter but it said it was wrong one. under driver in device manager it don't show a wifi adapter. Even under hidden no wifi shown. ?? could it be a bad card if so how can i be sure or any ideas.

Hi,

I've just built a near perfect  home office setup.

- XPS13 9350, 16GB RAM, 512SSD, Skylake i7

- Dell WD15 Dock (tried and failed with the delinquent TB15 variant)

- Dell UZ2315H monitor into the dock, via HDMI for graphics, and USB for the monitor's camera and audio bar.

My problem is just this:-

Through the single USB C connection to the dock, everything works perfectly except the screen's built in webcam

. 

When I plug the screen's USB cable directly into the laptop, it works fine, and I can toggle between the laptop webcam and the screen webcam.

Any tips? I think I'm up to date with all drivers..

We just purchased a new Dell Inspiron 15-3552 for our son. Being on a limited budget I would like to uprade his old Dell B130 running XP.

I used the Win 7 Advisor and it looks like it will work. When I first thought about this there was a discussion about it having to need some Drivers, needless to say my ancient brain can't remember the details and of course I can't find my notes.

I will be most greatfull to receive some specifica as I am not technically, and mentally, able to understand.

Not sure if anyone has the same problem. My Alienware 13 R2 was a new bought version if this year with i7 6500U, 16G Memory, 512G SSD, 960M 2G video card, bought on Deal FIsh. When I want to add a second SSD into the system, it is not recognized. I have tried several options, with Samsung EVO 850 and EVO 950 pro, they don't work either. The origional SSD is Samsung 951, but I could not find it in any market, since it is a 3.3V = 1.5A SSD. Most of the people just talk about the slot, but does anyone knows that the impact of different Current?

Surely I know how to format a new drive, but not recognized is in BIOS level, not in Windows level. I have enter the bois, and could not find the new drive I had put on. I have tried use an only new drive in slot 1, and BIOS could not recognize it either. My bought Samsung SSD were all 3.3V = 2.7V.

Thanks to anyone who can make efforts on that.

Apparently, a tiny ghost or unknown forces have changed a setting on my computer without any input from me or anyone else [^o)].  Prior to today, whenever I performed searches on Google or did any other functions on my computer, any results appeared on the same page and not in a NEW tab.  If I wanted to view the previous page, I just used the back key.  Now when I search, a new tab opens up each and every time at the top of my screen, creating a zillion tabs.  I know I can close all the tabs at once when I am ready to end my session.  But, what if I want to save a few and close the rest?  I would then have to go through each tab to find the ones I want to save, which would be time consuming, tedious, etc.  How do I keep any search results on the same page and then just use the back key to access previous pages, like before?

I noticed a huge performance drag after updating the firmware and drivers of my XPS 15 9550. The update took place on August 4, 2016.

Performance of my usual apps (Chrome, development tools and IDE, etc.) went dramatically down. Typically, I would say things take about 3 times longer to happen. I checked CPU usage (normal) as well as memory consumption (also normal) to find out that the issue comes from the SSD drive.

On this laptop: 500Gb NVMe thnsn5512gpu7 NV (toshiba). Attached are the results of a benchmark run with AS SSD. All write speeds are abysmal, to say the least... that explains a lot, but I have no idea how to solve that issue, and whether or not it is really related to the latest firmware+drivers update shipped by Dell.

(Note: I checked the BIOS, it seems that the SSD is currently configured in RAID mode. Never touched that option before.)

Any idea? Other users impacted in a similar way. Thanks in advance.

A diagnostic test found 2 hard drive errors:

Target Read Test and SMART Short Self Test. How serious are these? I put in Windows 10 last week.

I have a dell insprion m5030 windows 7 laptop. On day I went to go and power it on and it started beeping 7 times, with a black screen. I replaced the cpu and it was working fine. Then today it started beeping again. I opened it up and checked everything and didn't see anything wrong. Put it all back together and now when I do not have the adapter plugged in it beeps 3 times with a black screen. When I plug in the adapter it powers on by itself (I do not touch the power button) and then it will beep 7 times with a black screen. Can anyone please help me?! It is not under warranty. Thank you

Hi!
I recently acquired a XPS 13 9350 and after having it working perfectly well, in the BIOS I changed the SSD controller setting from RAID (Intel SRT) to AHCI.

After that, obviously Windows did not load (saying "Inaccessible device") because drivers were not updated, but the computer booted normally.

I turned the computer off, and after some hours I turned it on to continue updating it and it didn't even show the Dell logo.

It only makes a sort of "blink" with the keyboard lights and the screen, both turning on for about a second, and then turning off for about 5 seconds, and this continues forever.

No other signal, no response of any kind.

I cannot tell whether that setting change could have made it not work, but even if that was the case, how can I restore the BIOS to the factory defaults or force it to use again RAID?

The other possibility is that I got a major hardware failure, like a failing motherboard. But again, no clear way of how to diagnose.

I need some assistance with this matter please. I've had this laptop for over 5 years but very recently it quit turning on. After leaving it alone for several months and trying it again, it would turn on but wouldn't let me get past the initial sign-in screen. I have already tried hitting f12 during startup and running the diagnostics test and it gave me the following message while beeping obnoxiously:

error code 2000-0142

Validation: 107408

Msg: hard drive 0 - S/N W0499XZ2

Short self test unsuccessful

I bought this laptop exactly one month ago, and I haven't had a single problem until today. I was in the middle of typing when my keyboard suddenly stopped working. I went to restart the driver, but nothing worked, so I decided to just shut down the computer and wait it out. The laptop started shutting down, with the screen off and everything, however after a while the fan was still gently going, indicating it was still on, and the light on the power button was still on as another indicator that it was STILL on. Holding down the power button doesn't shut the computer off no matter how long I press it, and it just won't turn off or on, as if it's stuck trying to turn off but can't completely. The keyboard is, I assume, still not working, so maybe the power button is also broken.

Windows 10 automatically updated about 4 days ago for me, but I hadn't had any problem with it. The laptop has been working perfectly until today. I desperately can't afford to lose my files, is there a way to fix this/has this happened before with a solution? I could try taking the battery out as well but I don't think I have the proper equipment to take out the torx screws around the battery.

The charging light on the front left-hand side of my computer is blinking erratically when the battery is at 100% as well as when the battery is removed. I've had a few issues in the last couple of days where it hasn't been charging and I'm not sure if that is related.

Hello

I have dell inspiron about a year old and I recently upgraded to Windows 10. Today my system has been refusing to start. I can't even see the Dell splash screen. Only the startup LED flickers and goes away after about 3-4 seconds.  Then nothing happens. This goes on continuously. Monitor is completely blank.

Would appreciate any help.

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop whose Thermal Paste has to be changed. Once I remove the Thermal paste from my CPU and my Heat sink, then do I have to apply the Thermal paste only on the CPU or on the Heat sink or on both the CPU as well as Heat Sink?
