Inspiron 3521 won't turn on

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 3521, bought it a couple of years ago. I was working on the laptop and I got up for a while, when I came back the laptop was in standby mode so I pressed the power button and the laptop showed me a message "Error has occured and windows need to reboot" I pressed the reboot button and the laptop booted up and while it was still booting the display was all funny with little white and color boxes. I immediately pressed the power button to turn it off sensing there might me some boot error. Again I tried booting the system but it would not go past the dell logo. I tried a few times but with same result.

I tried again after some time but this time the screen was blank not even the Dell logo. After which I tried resolving the issue by visiting the dell forums.

I have

1. removed the battery and pressed the power button for 30 seconds which made the dell logo appear again but that was it.

2. did the static discharge again this time the screen showed me the dell logo with Boot options and the blue progress bar. I pressed the F2 key and nothing

3. Tried it again and this time it showed "Media Fail" twice.

4. Tried it again and this time it showed me some options to disable and enable some things. I pressed the key to boot in Safe Mode the laptop rebooted and the blank screen was back.

5. I have done the memory module switch with no luck. If I remove the memory it gives 2 beeps. I replaced the memory in its original slot.

6. I then removed the CMOS battery to reset the Mobo to it original configuration. I got 5 beeps. I replaced the battery with a new one.

The laptop still didn't boot just the blank screen. I am not getting any response on the 1800 helpline I have tried for the past 3 days. I have done all the trouble shooting I could I even tried the Fn + Power button but nothing.

Now when I turn on the laptop the power light comes on the fan starts the optical drive comes on the hard disk light comes and on and then the laptop power down. I dont know what to do any more. I read somewhere on the Dell forum that it could be mobo related and replacing it would do the trick but I have an i7 so it would cost a lot more and still no guarantee that it would stay good. The laptop was all good but ever since Microsoft shoved windows10 down our throat I have been experiencing one issue or the other like every time I reboot the laptop me standby and sleep setting revert back to default. The laptop sometimes would not know whether its in standby or hibernate mode. I didn't want win 10 in the first place and rejected the upgrade many times but it would still download automatically and ask for installation and I had no choice but to upgrade. I think the generic drivers i.e. the replacement drivers for certain components which are provided by Microsoft slowly corrupt the said component until the laptop stops booting altogether. Please help as I need my Laptop for presentations for my client. Its just a mess all around.

My dell inspiron 1510 with windows 10 is constantly restarting and asking for pressing f1 j2 keys and onpressing f1 key it keeps restarting and on dell logo press f2 and f12 options . Kindlyhelp . On running dell diagnostics at the end blue screen with message on the left bottom a message is there Running MATS Test and below that Pure Call is written . What to do?

Which wireless driver for Inspiron 3543...nightmare

Hello Everyone,

Ive been trying to install the right driver for a dell inspiron 3543 but it does not work. Error messages, etc...Ive tried some different versions and nothing. I am using windows 7 64bits

Few months ago I managed to install a different driver for this model and it worked fine. But I need to install again and I cant find this driver.  Does anyone know which driver would work for inspiron 3543? as the Dell company also dont know  :((  cowboys!!!

Battery not fully charging

I have Dell i5  Inspiron 3543, I am facing problems in charging battery my battery is not charging more then 47%, when it reaches to 47% it say's battery fully charged and show 100% but when I unplug charger then it again shows 47%. I have also updated the BIOS please let me know what should be problem also when i check battery health it is saying your battery is performing normally. 

Does Gaming damage the CPU?

Hello,

I have a DELL Inspiron 15z for 2 years now.

I wanted to play PS2 games using PCSX2 emulator so I can make full movies of the games and upload them to Youtube.

But when I run PCSX2 using Direct3D11 (Hardware), the temp of the CPU after some time reaches 81.

Is that OK and will not damage the CPU?

I have read about the i7-3537U CPU and it has a max temperature of 105.

I wanted to know what is the max temperature?

Does it mean that it is the number of temperature when the CPU hits, it will be damaged?

Again, I am using PCSX2 but while playing, when I notice the temp is above 80 or above 75, I exit the emulator and take some break for the CPU to cool down and then play again.

So is that OK as long as I don't let it reach the MAX?

Using ePSXe to play PS1 games also makes the CPU temp goes to 74 as well..

this laptop is E6540 and i believe they came with 130 watt adapter.

here Dell is offering for this machine a 65 watt, 90 watt, 130 watt, 180 watt andf 240 watt !!

what is going on here  ?  they cannot all be good, yes?

i'm just bougth a dell XPS 13 (9350) i7-6560U,

i use this computer for running VMware.

my VMware file are on a external ssd,

each time i connect my external SSD on the left side and start my vitual machine, no problem.

when i connect my SSD on the rigtht side, my virtual machine start but after a time (small) i loose the connection with the ssd.

i need to can run SSd on each usb side.

do you have a solution for solve my trouble?

I have a Dell Inspiron N7010. My warranty ran out in January. (I'd extended it several times and didn't have the best luck.) I used it last Thursday night and it was fine when I turned it off. When I turned it on the next morning, I got a message that it could not detect the AC adapter. (I've received that message at least three times before. I made sure it was plugged in but then I got the message that says Windows Failed to start. It says a recent download or a install may be to blame but I had done nothing.  Then it goes the Windows Boot Manager. It tells me to insert my Windows installation disc and restart the computer. I only have the Windows operation reinstallation disc and a driver and utilities disk. I've tried inserting them both to do the next steps but I just keep getting that same message. It doesn't even read the disk's. I've already backed up everything.   I get the status code Oxc000000e

I've been searching the dell site for a repair disc but all I get are steps to repair the bio's, etc. Nothing works. I can't type in anything. I went through F2, F8 and F10. I called Microsoft and they went through the F2 and F8 sites with me also. They said to get the disc from Dell. Is this the disc I have? If it won't read it, is this computer junk and has no hope? Thanks in advance

Laptop with 2 DIMMs failing WCMch memory test.  Per another post on this topic, I have done the following:

Reseated both DIMMs.  Same error but system hung and wouldn't quit using the Esc key

Swapped both DIMMS.  Same error but system hung and wouldn't quit using the Esc key

Run one DIMM per the following config:

DIMM A in Slot 1: errored out same test within 1 second of starting. Same error but system hung and wouldn't quit using the Esc key

DIMM A in Slot 2:: no boot, no POST

DIMM B in Slot 1:  no boot, no POST

DIMM B in Slot 2: no boot, no POST


Replaced both DIMMs and system started.  Reran rest and got multiples of this same error.

Bad RAM or bad motherboard?

Inspiron 15 7000 series Keyboard backlight problem

Hi there everyone,

Can anybody please help me,I set my keyboard backlight to dim but everytime I turn on my laptop again after shutting it down the backlight is at full brightness.I know this doesnt sound like that big of an issue but its bothering me alot.I have windows 10 and updated Dell  software that comes with the computer.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

non-US keyboard replacement on XPS L702X

My XPS 17 keyboard had developed trouble with multiple keys sticking or not working reliably, and so I ordered and installed a new one.  Shame on me, but I hadn't looked closely and the new keyboard is not the US layout, but rather Spanish.  Now, although my primary language is English, I do speak and occasionally write in Spanish and I've decided that I will keep the keyboard rather than go through the trouble of getting the exact replacement.

My question now is how can I get the XPS to recognize the new layout?  I know about SharpKeys, but that is a Windows registry interface and I'd much prefer to have the new mapping available when I boot something else (I occasionally use Linux).  Is there a BIOS update or something similar that will do what I want?

I have just installed a clean UEFI Windows 10 on my almost brand-new XPS 13 the touchscreen does not seem to work at all.

I have gone to the support website to auto-detect and download drivers. Went through Dell's diagnostic tool for touch screen, which said it could not detect any touchscreen device. There are no unknown/driverless devices in my Device Manager.

After scouring through many forum posts, I am baffled. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

double finger scrolling is not working in my touchpad ...  

there is no option to set scrolling in mouse settings.

does this model doesn't support scrolling on touchpad?

Hello, 

My DELL precision battery said that it is plugged in but not charging. I am still on warranty. I try to contact online chat tech support but cannot get through. I don't know is it because I just upgrade to window 10 few days ago. I have been using this for 1 year and nothing happen. I bought this in US but now move to saudi arabia for work. I try to call the phone number for support in saudi but no one answering. 

Windows 10 Gestures Not the same as Windows 7

So I just got my Latitude E7470 today. I love it so far, and set everything up while it was still running Windows 7. Everything worked flawlessly. Then I upgraded to Windows 10 (as my desktop uses it and I've never had issues with it and actually prefer it over 7), and now have one issue. 

The mousepad gestures just do not work as they did in Windows 7. In the Touchpad settings, the 3 finger gesture for left/right are now to cycle through apps, instead of going back/forward in browser:  something i've always used.

is there a way to get the gestures back how they were in 7?

Backlight issue driving me crazy

Hi group,

It's a Dell Inspiron 5559, Windows 10. Can adjust keyboard backlight using f10, but it can't be turned off completely. Also, backlight stays on for just 5 seconds and can't be changed. Have spent more than 2 hours on the phone with tech support in India and accomplished nothing but burning up cell phone minutes. Can anybody offer a suggestion?

Laptop on battery disconnects the internet?

Hello,

Yesterday I was running my Inspiron 15z on battery and noticed internet got disconnected and says "No Internet Access"...


I made sure that it doesn't disconnect when on power.

Does that really have to do with Internet? Or was it just a Windows bug or something?

Hello, I bought the Dell XPS 9350 Intel core i5 model on Amazon less then a month ago and it worked perfectly until I started noticing a very annoying buzzing coming from the fan with little pressure on the internals. I contacted two different del support reps and they both suggested sending it to the Dell depot. I already shipped it and it is en route but my question is regarding their part replacement. In the notesI requested that they only use brand new parts in my system and not refurbished or used parts. I have a good amount of doubt that they will do that but I am wondering if there is a way I can tell if they put a refurb part in or not? And after reading the horror stories of the depot if my laptop continues to have issues what steps can I take to get a full refund or replacement? (Dell warranty is good for around a year still, Amazon return is not possible anymore) Thanks
