I recently purchased a Inspiron 15R-5521 two days ago and i noticed a very tiny black spot on the screen.
I tried the troubleshoot by press and hold D and turn on the laptop but the black spot remains at its place.
Please advice!

Laptop becomes unresponsive after being powered on from hibernation mode
Hello, I again am having a problem with my Inspiron N5110 laptop. This time it is when I power on my laptop after it has gone into hibernation mode, after being in sleep mode for over an hour; I have the power settings set to make the computer enter hibernation mode after being in sleep mode for over an hour so, it boots up fine but it seems like it stops becoming responsive. No programs, when launched, open up and when I put my cursor on the task bar, it becomes that familiar spinning icon that indicates it launching or running a particular program tasked. I have sat several minutes waiting for it to respond and open the program(s) I've tasked it to, but nothing happens. I was wondering what could be the problem here and what could be done here to fix it, like a bios update or something?. Thank you to whoever helps!
PS. if it wasn't already known, my laptop runs Windows 7 as it's OS. Also please do share links where I can get various updates if these updates are the solutions, Thanks again!

Alienware 17 fan issue
Hello! I bought an Alienware 17 and got it yesterday. I'm extremely satisfied! I love this system! Although it takes time getting used to the new UI of Windows 8, I really enjoy my time using the Alienware. However, I have a question regarding the fans....
While using the laptop for heavy tasks, I only feel air being circulated by the left fan and not the right and seeing as I spent $3000 on this laptop, I want to make sure everything is in working proper order. I was wondering if this is normal or if this is a malfunction in my hardware. I haven't gamed yet on this for more than ten minutes straight, but still when the left fan is on, the right one isn't. I haven't seen the right fan ventilate air even once yet! So I was wondering if the right fan automatically turns on after there's a certain amount of load on the Processors or if this is a real problem.

Laptop login issue
I have an Inspiron mini - when I put in my password to login initially, it gives me the message, "The User Profile Service service failed to logon. It will not let me login unless I go through save mode. I have already ran a check disk operation and that did not help. Any suggestions?

Dell 7520 BIOS Options
Neither the User Manual nor the Me and My Dell manual describe the BIOS options. Are these written down anywhere? In specific, what is the difference between an administration password and a systems password? Neither of these names are self-explanatory. And by what is the difference I mean i want to known when each password has to be entered and what it is designed to protect.

Alternative Power Button for M2400
I have an M2400 that is running fine with a new SSD but the power button on the laptop no longer works. If I put it in the docking station I can turn the laptop on and off and even remove it from the docking station and it works. If it is running and removed from the docking station. The button will not turn it off.....
Is there any alternative on/off or way to fix the button???????????????????

Dell Vostro A860 Won't Turn On
I bought my Dell Vostro A860 in December of 2008 and it has had a very easy life. At least a year ago (maybe longer, I'm not sure) both the battery and the power adapter stopped working correctly. The battery wouldn't hold a charge and the adapter wouldn't charge anything (it is the same adapter as another laptop I have that has a healthy battery. The adapter would not charge the healthy battery either. And the battery in the Vostro would not charge with a known working adapter from the other computer either). But, oddly enough, even with the seemingly non working adapter and battery the computer could still be used as long as the non working adapter was plugged in (although the adapter would not CHARGE anything it would, however, POWER these devices). Because Dell batteries and Adapters cost so much I have been using the computer like this for the past year or more. It has been very inconvenient but I have made it work. Earlier this week the laptop would not power on. Thinking that the battery and adapter had finally given it all it had, I finally broke down and ordered a brand new battery and a brand new power adapter. The new hardware arrived today, and when I used the new parts to replace the old parts the system still will not power on. Before I ordered the new parts, the system, when you would plug it in and turn it on, the little light on the front would blink blue once then blink orange 3 or 4 times, then blink blue again, and so on and so forth. Now, with the new parts, when I plug the power adapter into the computer with the new battery the blue light blinks once and then nothing else. When I put the old batter back in it goes through the same process, the blue light blinks, then blinks orange, then blue, and so on. But still, with both batteries, when you hit the power button NOTHING HAPPENS. One thing I have observed is that the part number for the battery I was sent is not the same part number as the battery I had. I was sent battery F287H but the old battery was G069H. The new batter has a rating of 11.1v and a capacity of 48 Wh. The old battery had a rating of 14.8v and a capacity of 32Wh. At first I thought possibly I had been sent the wrong battery, but when I type my service tag into the Dell website the G069H batter is what pops up as my correct part, so maybe the differences in the batter don't matter. Another thing I have observed recently is that the laptop gets very hot sometimes, almost as if the fan may not be working properly.
So my question is has anyone had any experience with this?
Can anyone help me with how I might go about fixing this problem and getting my computer turned on?
Do you think I have two unrelated problems in the non functioning battery and power cord and the fact the the computer will not power on?
Any little bit of insight, advice, or help would be greatly appreciated. And if you have any other questions please ask them and I will get back to you with an answer. I am sort of up a creek and need all the help I can get.

Ram Upgrade
Hello. I am thinking about upgrading the ram on my n5050 (Inspiron 15). I've checked a website to see what kind of ram is compatible, in this case it could be any of these , DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-14900, DDR3 (non-ECC) ( Source from http://www.crucial.com/uk/upgrade/Dell-memory/Inspiron+Laptops%2FNotebooks/Inspiron+15+%28N5050%29-upgrades.html) However i just want 2 gb so my memory goes to 6gb because i don't want any trouble with memory for the next year or so, but most people say to buy 2 sticks instead of just 1 because there might be a problem with the ram compatibility. I was thinking about buying a samsung 2gb ddr3 pc3 10600-1333 mhz ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-memory-10600-1333MHz-SODIMM-laptops/dp/B004F1KY3I/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1378062796&sr=1-6&keywords=2+gb+ddr3+204) but i'm not sure if it is gonna be compatible with the default N5050 ram. Also most pairs of sticks of ram are quite expensive compared to a single stick. I would like to know which is the best option, to buy the single 2gb ram or to buy a brand new pair of ram sticks, and if the 2gb would be compatible with the default n5050 ram.

my Studio XPS1340 isn't that old...
and my battery was replaced by warranty a little over a year ago...
it was charging fine...then suddenly, when I rebooted, I got:

Press <F12> and Any Key to enter Boot Menu
Do I just need to replace the battery?

nVidia Geforce GT 650M NOT DETECTED on Inspiron 17R SE 7720 after BIOS A11 Update
Hi everyone,
A week ago I did some updating on my Inspiron 17R SE 7720 including Bios update to the A11 version. Unfortunately after this update I realized that the nVidia Geforce GT 650M graphics card was gone from my system.
I read other posts and people that have come accross this issue suggested that re-installing the bios would fix the problem, however in my case it did not.
Also I have installed the newly released BIOS A12 and A13 versions but non of these have fixed this issue.
Also re-installing windows does not either fix this as suggested by others in other posts.
I have also run the computer diagnostics from the bios and the card does not show up there either, is like if the nVidia Geforce GT 650M graphics card was not installed on the system.
Lastly I have run a version of Ubuntu on my Inspiron 17R SE 7720 and run a system check and neither the card is detected, just the Intel HD Graphics 4000 is detected on windows or linux.
Please someone from dell help us fix this issue, as it is definitely a BIOS PROBLEM.
If you are one of the unlucky ones like me that saw disappeared the nVidia Geforce GT 650M graphics card from your system, please share your experience with me.

changing power plan doesn't change my CPU clock speed
I have an Inspiron 5520 with a 3632QM Corei7 CPU, I used to change the power plan, the clock speed of the CPU would hike or decrease accoording to my selection in windows power plan options, but now i've noticed that when i change the power plan from "power saving" to "balanced" or "performance", my CPU clock speed is fixed at 2.19Hhz (checked with Windows 8 task manager and CPU-Z)
I've checked the Bios and speed step is enabled for the CPU, how can i fix it back to the way it was?

Inspiron 14z 5423 problem with ePSA test!
2 days ago, when i was working with my laptop. suddently it was rebooted and had some beep .After shutdown and start,I still work with my laptop and nothing happen. Today, i have free time. I check my laptop by F12 -> Diagnosties ( ePSA test ), I get attention " All tests passed ". But, when i click to " Perform quick audio check", i get that notice like picture below :
My laptop have a problem ?? I search on Internet that notice talk about VGA problem.

Disable Touch Pad on Dell Studio 1749
Using Win 7 (64 Bit). No hot keys listed on Dell site to disable touch pad. (no Fn + key). No Fn key control. Nothing in system tray to control touch pad. Nothing in Bios to disable touch pad. No hot keys on key board that indicate touch pad controls. Nothing in Control Panel Pointer device controls to disable touch pad. Nothing in mouse controls for touch pad. Using Logitec wireless mouse. No response from Dell. Hours spent doing this. How can I disable the touch pad on the 1749. Please, no guess or "maybe try this" responses please. Thx.

7720 17R SE switch lids?
I currently own 17R SE 7720 Dell.
So far soo good. It serves me well.
However I can not unotice that like other Dell laptops it has the option of switching lids.
But I can not find any new lid panels for the 17r SE.
However I can find some for the "standard" 17R.
Are they compatible? Can I buy a lid panel for 17R and put it on the SE one?
Experience with this people?

5520 Touchpad
Help! I inadvertently deactivated my touchpad, not knowing it controlled the mouse pad, and now I can't figure out how to turn it back on! I had to borrow a computer just to send this plea for assistance...LOL! I know it must be easy, but not obvious.

Dell Inspiron M5010 not powering up and just gives 7 beeps
Hello. I purchased my Dell Inspiron M5010 in January 2011. In December 2012 I had the same issue I have today. It will not power up and just gives me 7 beeps. Last December I called Dell but my warranty was expired. They confirmed it was a motherboard issue and suggested I take it to Best Buy. I did and they replaced my motherboard for $265 but today it did it again. No warning of any issues (just like the last time). I have tried releasing the residual static (unplugging, take out battery and holding the power down for 30 seconds) but it did not work. I am extremely frustrated with Dell especially since I had bought a Dell Ultrabook as a gift last November. I hope Dell has been quality on that machine. Can someone please give me other ideas on what to try to fix this? I don't want to synch another several hundred dollars only for it to not even last another year. Thanks.
