My fan stopped spinning and I'm looking for a new one

Hi,

The fan on my Inspiron 5558 stopped working and I think I should buy a replacement fan/heatsink assembly. The label on my fan says AT1AO002DT0, but no vendor I contacted has this part, However, I could buy the AT1AO002FF0 one.

I've noticed that both assemblies have the same 'Dell Part Number', which is 1GRYN, 01GRYN.

My question is: Are the AT1AO002DT0 and the AT1AO002FF0 the same thing or even compatible? Can I replace my AT1AO002DT0 with a new AT1AO002FF0?



Latitude E5440 - Unexplained: Beep - Pause - Beep

A few times now my E5440 will give a low beep... then a few seconds go by, and another beep.  It just happened a minute ago - only two beeps this time.  But I think it happened a few days ago and beeped several times with the same pause of a few/several seconds in between the beeps.  It's so quiet that before I've thought I was imagining it.  But this time I was sitting in front of it typing.

There are no pop-up notifications on the screen anything is wrong, such as the 'disconnection' sound when you remove a portable HDD, or your Wi-Fi disconnects.  Nothing to indicate what the beeps mean.  The laptop is working perfectly.  Battery is fully charged.  I can hear the fan turning and changing speed but it's 2:30am here with no outside noise and I can barely hear the fan.  (I assume it would be spinning up like crazy if something were overheating.)

I'm at a loss what it means.  Does anyone know?

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit if that matters.

Inspiron I7 5759 No Num Lock indicator

I have been having the devil of a time trying to get a Num Lock indication on my Laptop. For SURE I will NEVER buy another Laptop without a visual indicator on the key or the screen:) Dell originally set it up when I first bought the machine with an icon in the task bar, but after another tech was troubleshooting a speed issue with my laptop the indicator when away and no one at Dell could seem to fix it. Registry Hacks did not help so I found a program called TrayStatus. Freeware from binaryfortress.com! Works great and has other indicators that can be enabled. SO far a GREAT little program:)

XPS 15 product registration

I have just registered my XPS 15 9550 for the first time.

Accidentally I have inserted a wrong email address, and I can't seem to find a place where I can change it. I have used the dedicated "Dell product registration" software

Any ideas?

XPS 13 9350 (2016) Touchpad Help/Question - Please respond

Are there touchpad-specific drivers for the Dell XPS 13 9350, beyond the generic Windows 10 drivers?  I don't see any on the web site and contacting technical support only resulted in running a bunch of diagnostics.  My touchpad works fine on the generic drivers except that I can't horizontal scroll (e.g. going through folders in File Explorer).  Is this normal or are there laptop-specific drivers that improve functionality?  For example is the touchpad Synaptics, Elan, etc.?  Thanks...please respond as this is bugging me...lol.

Recovery discs

Hello.

My daughter's laptop is having issues and we need to send it off for repairs. We did not create recovery discs when we received it. I tried to back up her files--not sure if that was successful while trying to recover her system with the Dell backup & Recovery last week. I was not able to complete the recovery process.  I just created recovery discs. How can I check to see if they are viable discs? The backup and recovery option I tried last week was not supposed to damage system files. I am wondering if the recovery discs I just created will recover her system or if I need to purchase a recovery disc from Dell. We will need to get her computer up and running as quickly as possible so I want to  make sure I have recovery discs if they have to replace or reformat the hard drive. Help?

Precision M3800 motherboard power defect: replaced with another defective motherboard

I could use some creative customer service here. My M3800 shipped with the known power-on motherboard defect. It was replaced at no charge, which was very nice. However, the replacement (2nd motherboard!) is now having the same intermittent dead / no power problem.

To get the computer running, I have to remove the case (12 screws) and un-plug the internal battery to 're-set' the electrical fault. After I put it back together, the computer starts normally. This is not very convenient, especially when meeting with new clients.

The problem is that I am being told I am outside the 3-month repair warranty. I think this stinks! It's a known issue and I would like someone at Dell to step up make my expensive computer work normally all of he time.

Yes, I have run every diagnostic known to man and the internet.


Inspiron 15z 5523 Ultrabook not turning on, Not Charging,No lights,No sound

I shut down my laptop the other day...while it was shutting down I closed the lid and placed it in my bag(the battery was around 35 maybe)... Charged my iPhone while the laptop was off and after some time the charging stopped. I ignored this and after sometime tried to turn on the laptop ... It wouldn't turn on... No red lights for low battery no display... I plugged in the laptop ... No lights ... Tried reseating the ram without any luck ... Since it's inspiron 15z 5523 Ultrabook from late 2012 I cannot go down to the battery easily. The laptop has never been opened.except for changing ram that too 2 years ago

Driver Discrepancies

Several months ago I installed two driver updates for my XPS 15 9550. I received a message from Dell Support Assist that these drivers were out of date. I took a look at what was installed and found the following:

1. For the Intel Management Engine Components:

  a. Programs and Features shows v11.0.0.1167 as installed  (which agrees with the Dell Support site)

  b. Device Manager indicates the driver version as v11.0.0.1166.

2. For Intel Serial IO driver:

  a. Programs and Features shows v30.100.1519.7 as installed  (which agrees with the Dell Support site).

  b. Device Manager indicates the driver version as v30.63.1519.7.

Which is correct?

How to change bios to usb boot for 7737 laptop

Hello everyone! Ever since day 1, my Dell 7737 has always performed like a snail. Most forums recommended i do a format with a fresh copy of windows 10. So that is what i will try. I downloaded a fresh copy of 10 to a usb drive. I want to change the boot order so that when i restart, i can get the laptop to read from the usb and install fresh copy windows 10. 

Also, I've been advised to do a "custom" installation from the installation menu offered, and delete all partitions, even Dell recovery. How would i do that???

I know my Service Tag and can tell it to someone who will tell me how to unlock the HDD.

Inspiron 15-5000 Shuts down when I connect/disconnect AC adapter

I got this laptop newly refurbished and it was working fine. I would connect and disconnect the AC adapter during use and the laptop would keep running. Once I accidentally plugged the jack in only about half way and it stayed that way for a few seconds and an error came on the screen about not recognizing the adapter.

Since then, I'm not sure if it's related to that, but whenever I connect/disconnect the adapter, the computer reboots, immediately. 

I shut it down, removed the battery and drained the laptop and it fixed the problem temporarily. It just keeps happening. 

Help!!!

Hi,

My new Inspiron 5559 suddenly freezes and I can do nothing. I have to power down and get it back again. In between the screen blanks too.

I purchased a new one just one month back.

Dell Latitude e5440 - Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD not recognized

I purchased a new 500GB Samsung 850 EVO mSATA SSD for my Dell Latitude e5440 (running Windows 7 Pro).  The new drive was not visible in 'Computer', so I downloaded, installed, and ran the Samsung Magician software.

The Samsung software shows the drive is present.  And there was a "Validate" button - which I clicked - and now: "Drive Health Status: Good" and "Serial Number: Genuine" is displayed.

However the SSD is not visible when I double-click Computer, and the Samsung software states:

a. "AHCI Mode. Deactivated (IDE or RAID).  AHCI Mode is required for the best SSD performance."

b. SATA Interface N/A. Unable to detect SATA interface details.

c. OS Optimization N/A. OS optimization is only supported for disks using an OS drive.


Question 1: Will enabling this AHCI mode allow Windows to recognize the SSD?

Question 2: How do I do that?

Question 3: Will activating AHCI mode 'switch off' (disconnect) my 2.5" HDD?  (I want to keep Windows 7 on the 2.5" HDD, and install Windows 10 on the SSD to have a dual-boot system until I get used to Windows 10.)

My laptop is DELL LATITUDE E6530. I am using window 10 x64, and I have updated wifi + bluetooth drivers. It was unsucessful. Please help me to solve this. I also attached update - log file.
