The Display on my Inspiron 17 is messed up.
The screen display a large (2 " wide) white band from top to bottom. This occurs from booting on through logging in to my desktop. I would imagine it is a display adapter (grpahics card??) problem. Can I fix this myself with a new graphics card or is the display adapter intergrated into the mother board? I have only had this laptop for about 15 months, purchasing it new in Nov 2014. Please, anyone, advice is requested. My Email address is listed incorrectly, it should be "ROBT02@TINGLEYPHOTO.COM"

Stylus compatibility for Inspiron 13 7000 7359-8404SLV
The Inspiron 13 7000 7359-8404SLV comes with a passive stylus. I have been trying to find out if an active stylus will work with this model finding conflicting information. Does anyone know if an active stylus will work with this model and if so which one?

Dell inspiron 13 7000 series laptop Screen Reflection issue
I bought new Dell inspiron 13 7000 laptop last week. Till now its awesome but have one problem with screen. The screen has too much reflection. It shows perfect reflection when watching videos / movies which are little dark. What to do ? I can't watch the movies ....

SMART Threshold Test Failure
Hi. New to the forum, though I have been using Dell products both at work and at home for some time. I recently decided I wanted a small laptop to use at home when I didn't feel like sitting at my computer desk. I purchased and received 3 days ago, an Inspiron 11 3000 2 in 1 laptop. I went through all the set up and everything was hunky dorey. Then I opened the SupportAssist app and ran the 10 minute test. Everything passed except the hard drive. I got a message that the drive had failed the SMART Threshold Test WHD18-ZII. The hard drive is a 32gb eMMC, which, if I understand correctly, a large format SD card.
Does anyone know what this means? Does the test work on eMMC drives? Can the drive be replaced or upgraded? Is anything else compatible?
I called Dell Support and could barely hear or understand the guy. I was at work and had limited time. For whatever reason, I was unable to connect to my work WiFi. the support person didnt' seem to have a clue what I was talking about and was heading towards having me return the laptop for them to fix. I'd rather get a refund and try again with a new warranty.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Dell i7 5558 Adapter Heats
Updated bios nothing helped, Searched alot still can't find any solution
To my surprise when I checked my friends adapter I found it warm, but mine was at super hot condition, I feel like I can cook on that heat
Preciously I had dell latitude had no issues win7 os which was awesome this dell i7 5558 has many problems

Laptop seems to be consuming more power is 65w adapter sufficient for that?

Dell Precision M65 CMOS Battery
My M65 laptop has been having the problem of not remembering the date and time anymore.
I have read in several places that all laptops have CMOS batteries, but I have not been able to find it on my laptop after disassembling it two times over the past year.
I cannot find any information on the M65 on whether it does have a CMOS battery.
If it does, could someone explain where it is?

Alienware 14 Battery / AC Adapter problem
Hi,
I was playing a game last night on my Alienware 14 when it suddenly shut down. It would not turn back on and it was not out of charge. I have tried the power drain trick and it hasn't solved the problem. When I try to plug the AC adapter in, I hear a spark, the light goes off on the adapter, and near the power plug on the computer starts to smell. I believe I still have it under warranty as I got it for a present in October. Furthermore, I am unable to access Dell Support via email or chat because it doesn't recognise my service tag or my express service code.
Is there anything I can do to fix this problem, or is it completely broken? Will I be supplied a new laptop or will I have to pay for a new one out of pocket? If so is it possible to transfer my hard-drives?

Inspiron 3147 Sleep Mode Doesn't Work
I just purchased a refurbished Inspiron 3147. The computer does not wake from sleep mode. Instead, there is a blip of power and then the system shuts off completely. Some things I have determined through testing and observation:
- The power does come on momentarily. This is confirmed by the flicker of light in the power indicator and the brief charge indicator for a USB connected phone.
- The hard drive does not Shut Down. It just goes dead. I confirmed this by testing a handful of software items, including Open Office, Evernote and Chrome. All had recovery dialogue on restart, though there was no Windows shutdown error dialogue.
- This doesn't matter how sleep mode is initiated. All of my Power Management options are set to Sleep Mode. It happens when I initiate it by closing the laptop lid. It happens when I initiate it through the start menu or charm bar. It happens when I initiate it via the login screen.
There is another issue which may or may not be related and that is the touchpad. I'm given to understand that the touchpad is a real issue with this particular model and I intend to address it in a separate post. For the purposes of this post, I will just say that it will not initiate until I manually go in and disable/reenable the trackpad through the control panel. The trackpad settings are inaccessible on startup through the system tray even though the icon is there and clickable. It just won't load. Sometimes it takes several attempts to load it through mouse settings too.
I have reinstalled the BIOS firmware.
I have downloaded and reinstalled the trackpad driver, though this may be unrelated.
I am at a loss and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

I want to exchange my laptop
Hi myself SWAPNITH,I bought Dell inspiron 5558 ,it's cost of 75000/- ,I wasn't satisfied with this laptop because what ever the game iam playing strucks like anything my laptop has 4 GB graphics but it has no use, so I want to exchange this with another one but in nvdia graphic control panel it is saying my graphic card is of 2 GB this shows buying a costly Dell laptop is waste of money.So I request Dell to exchange this laptop.

Problems after hard drive replacement
So I replaced the hard drive on my DELL STUDIO XPS 1645 with the one from my HP laptop (brand new hard drive with working OS) and it just started working, now I have the problem that it still thinks it's a HP laptop? I have already downloaded all the drivers from this site for this model and proper OS (win7 64bit)... I can't get the graphics card to work either (I can tell because I can't play certain games) and when I start the computer there's a message that says the ati graphics card or whatever isn't working. Also the USB ports aren't working.
In device manager, there's 2 sections that show alert symbols:
Other devices: Base System Device (not working) x2
Universal serial bus controllers: Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller (not working) x2
*When I right-click update driver software for Base System Device, then click search automatically for updated driver software, it says windows could not find driver software for your device.
*When I right-click update driver software for Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller, and do the same process, it says the software is already installed and up to date.
Any help is greatly appreciated, P.S. I only have a windows 7 boot disc and the screen is broken so I use HDMI. And.. it still says HP in system specifications

Brand new Xps 13 (9350) is faulty, freezes and becomes unresponsive, laptop is unusable

The Xps 13 core i5 8gb RAM and 256SDD i ordered from the dell website was delivered today with a major problem, it freezes frequently and I am forced to turn off/on the laptop for it to become responsive only for it to freeze again forcing me to repeat turning it off/on.
This problem began during the setup of the laptop. As i was following the instructions during the setup i noticed a few grey horizontal lines momentarily appear on my screen (they looked like static) followed by the laptop no longer responding to any commands (i can still trigger the back-lit keyboard though oddly enough).
During the setup (after the first incident) tilting the screen would cause the same lines to appear and cause the laptop to freeze and need to be restarted again, this happened three more times in the setup alone.
When setup finished it stopped occurring for a little while so i thought i was in the clear, however the laptop soon started to freeze again, these freezes were usually led by one of the following1) The same grey lines as the setup incidents 2) Screen momentarily turning black then returning to normal (but frozen) 3) Screen experiencing heavy static-like lines, turning black then returning to normal (but frozen) 4) Just straight freezing with no lines or blacking out.
Twice ive gotten a kmode exception not handled blue page message when i restarted the laptop however since the % was not moving from 0 even after waiting a considerable amount of time i simply restarted the laptop. Also had a IQRL not less or equal to message and a 'unexpected kernal mode trap' message, neither of which were doing anything productive that i could see so i restarted the laptop both times.
Im so sorry if i have any gramatical mistakes or was not concise about a specific part of the experience but the laptops frozen five times while i wrote this so im just going to post it before we get another episode.
Is there anything i can do about this? I wouldnt mind simply exchanging or refunding the laptop to be completely honest.

DVD tray opens by itself
I have a Dell Inspiron 17 laptop purchased in 2014. Within the last month the DVD tray opens on its own. I am not pressing the release button. I'll be working or playing games and it just opens for no reason.
I've run tests to see if I have any malware or virus and all tests come back negative. I am running Windows 7 Pro. Any help would be appreciated.

I've downloaded update package for Seagate ST500LM000 avaiable on :

but when I execute update package aborts with this error:
"Unable to identify BIOS HDD0.
Download and use the USB boot key or ISO CD image version of this utility.
Where can I find this version of firmware update?
In additional information's section of this package download suggests that, if package fails installing i must install with ATA operation on bus, but in E5540 there's NO ATA option on SATA's BIOS option.

Dell XPS 15 constantly crashes.
Hi guys,
I got my Dell XPS 15 yesterday and was super excited, but not for long. After downloading most of the drivers and updating the BIOS (in random order) I used the laptop for a few hours. About 5 minutes after finishing a game of league of legends it crashes, and gives me this screen.

The 0% never goes up (waited an hour and was still on 0%) I shut it off by holding the on key and restarted it. First is didnt restart just made the fans go for 2 seconds, doing it again made it restart. Used the rest of the entire day no problem.
Next day, again after playing league of legends, about 2 minutes after a game it crashes again. The same screen. I restart and about 10 minutes later it crashes again. I didnt start league this time. ONLY Spotify was playing. I thought it might have something to do with the video drivers so I decided to do a clean windows 10 reset.
Finished the reset and started downloading drivers, now I read that you should download them in a certain order. I started downloading all the Application drivers as recommended, they were all downloading for about 15 minutes, then before I can click install on any of them (I wanted to wait till they were all downloaded) it crashes again. This time giving me this screen:

Critical_Process_Died. I have no idea what to do to fix this. It doesnt seem to be a common issue since I couldnt find anyone with the exact same problem on here. I know I should probably just call the customer service and ask for a new device but I really just want this freaking thing to work. Any advice?

Dell Inspiron 7559 SSD Boot Problem
Hi,
I've upgraded the SSHD in my laptop with a 480gb sandisk extreme ii SSD. It has been used in another computer absolutely fine, so I know it's working. My problem is that if I turn the laptop on from complete off, the SSD isn't detected and the dell troubleshooting software comes up, and if I enter the bios I see what is in the photo. If I however exit the bios so the laptop does a soft reboot, it then detects the SSD and loads windows absolutely fine. Is anyone able to help? What I would like to happen is for the SSD to be recognised immediately so that I can boot straight into windows. Thanks in advance.

Unable to install DigitalPersona finger print reader on Windows 10
I have a dell vostro 3560 on which I made a fresh installation on windows 10. After the installation of all the drivers, including the fingerprint reader one (Synaptics FTP Sensors (WBF) (PID=0011) Ver 4.5.505.0). I tried to install DigitalPersona 6.2 which I downloaded from my personal area on My Dell. The problem is that when the installation arrive at the point showed in the image below, it doesn't go any further ahead:
I left the computer working overnight, but in the morning the installation was still at the same point as in the picture.
I'm really frustrated, I would like to use the fingerprint reader. Any idea ?

8 Beep Sound from Dell Vostro 2520
Hi All,
Its been a week am facing this problem, all of a sudden am hearing 8 beep sound when i turned on my laptop. I have connected to external monitor and am able to work.
I have tried turning on the laptop by holding 'D' keystroke in keyboard and I can see colors shown up and then same error raises.
Even I tried pressing F12 just after turning on the laptop but still I can hear 8 beep sound.
My laptop is not in warranty.
Please suggest me best solution/troublesoot.

Driver Downloads caused issues, help?
2 Days ago I downloaded drivers; Dell Wireless WLAN 1501 Half Mini-Card, Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth driver, Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module application, and AMD ATI Mobility Radeon 550V Graphics driver. Then after it rebooted, I had lost use of a number of programs and functions (Office no longer loaded, internet didn't want to connect, Dell re-install software gone, etc.)
So, I went to restore, and when I did I got the message "An unspecified error occurred during restore, 0xc0000022", I've tried to locate this code without any luck. I now realize that they probably didn't install in the correct order, but don't understand what happened.
Any help/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
