According to Dell's spec sheet for the E5520, it can take an i3, i5, or i7 CPU. I have also been able to establish that these units run the i7 2640M chip as the i7 option.
I had my IT guys get me a 2640M, and when they installed it, the machine wouldn't boot. Another post in this forum stated that there may be a need for a new, higher wattage AC adapter.
Anyone have any advice on how to proceed?
I recently got a new work computer (Latitude E7250) and got a new AC adapter with it. I wanted to confirm whether I could still use my old adapter as a spare, so I checked out the voltage and amps, which look to be fine. However, the polarity on the new adapter is different than the old one. Will this be an issue? Does polarity matter if the laptop is docked, meaning does the dock compensate for differences in polarity from the adapter?
Old adapter output: 19.5 V, 4.3A; polarity - c +
New adapter output: 19.5 V, 3.4A; polarity + c -
Is anyone else getting some inverse ghosting issues on their screen? Just moving my Firefox window around leaves a blurred out trail of taskbar icons behind it. I've been able to reliably reproduce it via the UFO Ghosting test as well. It makes for quite a headache in first person shooters.
I have a Dell M6500 laptop with two new identical drives setup as RAID 1 and every single time I reboot, the RAID becomes degraded and I have to rebuild it which takes a minimum of 5 hours. I've tried toggling all of the settings in Intel Rapid Storage Technology as well as enabling and disabling the cache options in windows 7 for the hard drive. I'm not sure what else to try at this point.
Any ideas?
I need help. I have searched everywhere and have tried several things but my XPS12 screen freezes for a short time (5 to 10 secs typically) every few minutes.
I have:
- upgraded my Cypress touchpad software to latest as per Dell (2.5.1.72)
- reinstalled my mouse software (running Windows 10 Microsoft mouse software)
- disabled the touchpad palm rejection
Nothing has worked. This problem began after a Microsoft auto update on Jan 29, 2016 (KB3124262).
System is

Windows 10 64 bit - up to date with all auto-updates

This is the Toshiba Bluetooth stack that you will need to install to get your keyboard to pair.

Google that and download the exe file directly from the Toshiba site. You have to uninstall the Dell 350 bluetooth software if you already have that installed.
The camera is now the only thing I havent found a driver for, but I never used it anyway.

I opened my Inspiron 7559 today and after updating all the drivers including the NVIDIA one, so I installed league of legends, upon playing the first game, I noticed my FPS was around 130 and would cap around there, I found this odd as the laptop I had returned before this was an older model by Dell and it ran the game completely fine at 215 FPS another thing I noticed is the game would freeze randomly, overall it feels like my laptop isn't keeping up even though it has really good specs, what is the possible issue?

EDIT: Last night the game completely froze and I had to manually turn off my laptop and back on again.
My xps 13 seems to be having issues with scrolling on webpages on chrome only. By this I mean it commonly skips. Works perfectly fine on Microsoft Edge. I can fix this by disabling two finger pinch. However, is there a way to have two finger pinch work on chrome and for it to scroll properly? I tried "enabling touch events" under flags for chrome, however there is still no two finger pinch. Idealy, it would work the same way in chrome as it does on Edge

My Dell Inspiron 3521 wont start. Nothing. It is dead. No display, no beeps, no fan.. nothing!! The only sign of life is that the white LED power indicator which is on after I press the power button. But on pressing the power button again, it doesn't go off. It goes off only if I remove the battery.
What could possibly have gone wrong? It is extremely frustrating and I feel so helpless. Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

I have seen this on multiple brand new 7450 laptops. Yes we image and currently I am testing the original software to see if it is a hardware or our image. We have updated drivers and it never seems to permanently fix the issue.
Has anyone else seen this problem? or something similar?

I go the new Dell XPS a5 i5, it comes with 256 GB native storage so expanding sounds like a reasonable option. A full SD card would stick out a lot and would be ugly and may cause the card to get hit and damaged. Has anyone tried any micro SD adapters that would sit well with the XPS 15? I already have one (Basei) and its too short for the XPS slot (I used this adapter for a previously owned surface book, it sat so well on it), but the XPS 15 slot goes much deeper and the adapter would be stuck forever inside.
Any recommendations? please provide link and photo if posssible

I tried to install the Intel Serial IO Chipset Driver update for v30.100.1519.7. (Chipset_Driver_R63P6_WN32_30.100.1519.7_A00.EXE).
But when I run it, it asks to either "uninstall" or "repair" the driver. When I do "repair", the driver is not updated. I still have have v30.63.1519.7.
How do I do an update? I have a XPS 15 9550.

Edit: Well Programs and Feature shows the version updated but Device Manager for Intel Serial IO I2C Host Controllers drivers does not. I am not sure what to believe.

My e5570 has the following isse.
When I put it to sleep or when it go's to sleep and I turn it on again the screen stays black.
If I have a screen it does not respond to the keyboard or touchpad. It does respons to my external mouse.
Do others have this issue?
This way I'm forced to shutdown the laptop every time...

few days ago my laptop started to loose its case screws. I already lost 2 screws and I can find them searching on the Internet. They also seem different from some photos I found here on the forum. They are silver with very small head.
Does anyone know the exact characteristics of the screws (head dimensions, length) or maybe the part number (if it could be useful to order them on the Internet)?

I HAVE A TOUCH SCREEN LAPPY. AN ANT DIED INSIDE THE SCREEN AND HAS SHRUNK IN SIZE. SHOULD I IGNORE IT OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?

I have tried all of the buttons.
I've recently upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10 on my Dell Lattitude E5530 - but whenever I insert an USB stick or SD card it is shown as "Removable Disk (E:)"
But when I try to open it it states Access Denied.
I have:
- Formatted the drive from FAT32 to NTFS - no success
- Removed all USB controllers from Device manager and restarted - no success
- Checked and installed BIOS and driver updates using the Dell Support tool
- Checked in Disk Management and saw that the Removable disk is listed and is Healthy
- I have changed driver letters to something else - no success
- My sysadmin has checked for security/permission issues - local admin cannot access the drive - no success
- Tried to update the device driver (USBSTOR 10.0.10586.0 - is listed as the most current version by the update process) - no success
Any other suggestions?
Hi I have been trying and trying to get my Alienfx to bassically slowly have the lights go on into blue then fade out to black and then stay black for awhile then fade back to blue. I set it but it morphs on then drops off then fades in and out like I waant to. What am I doing wrong?
