Dell XPS 15 9550 Battery Not Charging

$

I recently got my XPS 15 and was messing around with the BIOS settings for battery life.  I changed from the Adaptive mode to Custom charging, from around 80% to 90% thresholds.  When I booted up my machine, the battery indicator on the taskbar shows "plugged in, charging", but that clearly is not the case, as the battery life gradually decreases as if it is not charging at all.  Also, it no longer shows the estimated remaining time, but "Calculating...".  I tried reverting back to the Adaptive mode, but it still has the same problem.  I also installed the Dell Power Manager program to see if that helped things, but it hasn't.

Has anyone else had this problem after changing the battery settings in BIOS, and how can I fix this?

How can i properly boot an OS after i switch out my hard drive for an new SSD on my dell inspiron 15R SE 7520 laptop?

I have a question regarding how to boot into my OS after i switch out my current hard drive with an SSD. I dont really know how to safely do it, but I dont want to clone my hard drive onto my new 1TB samsung evo 850 SSD SATA III. I was just wondering if its safe to boot from a USB flash drive after i start up my laptop the first time on my new SSD, i saw other people saying theyve had problems doing this. Would it be better to boot the OS from a CD drive instead? I dont have a windows 8.1 disk and apparently Dell doesnt make these OS disks anymore.

TLDR: I just want to know a safe way to boot into my OS(windows 8.1) from a new SSD(samsung evo 850 1TB) that I just replaced my current hard drive with on my laptop (dell inspiron 15r 7520 SE), and will i have to purchase a new product key for this as well? Or will it automatically detect my current windows key on this laptop?

Wi-Fi Adapter keeps disconnecting / showing no connections available.

Right, before I go into detail, I'd like to point out I've attempted all the "tweaks" suggested. These would have no weight in actually fixing the issue, not in my case anyways.

My Wi-Fi adapter is constantly loosing connection and not only that, its actually loosing connection availability (so when it drops off my perfectly fine signal, it then decides to not find anything). I am using Windows 10 (this laptop was originally Windows 8).

Now, this is more a request than a question. UPDATE THE BLOODY DRIVERS, I'm using the "latest drivers" for my Dell Adapter, yet it still doesn't work (how do I know? because its a windows 8 driver and its returning KERNEL_SECURTY_CHECK_FAILURE when debugged, well done Dell, you didn't update to Windows 10).

I will do you a favor, and wait patiently for this update without making to much fuss...You're welcome btw.

Unable to restore laptop 3521

I Upgraded to Windows 10 with excitement only to be disappointed with it's performance.

I did a system image on a usb stick.

Rebooted on usb stick to go back to Windows 8, only to discover it would only go to 3%.

Error code came up as: 0x4-001100200001005. I am unable to capture laptop screen.

I have a screen capture of the usb stick that I created before rebooting:

I removed the usb stick and tried to boot without it and get this message:  "No boot device found. Press any key to reboot computer."  I press any key and this rehappens over and over.

laptop is: model number 3521, service tag is: <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>

laptop was operational before removing Windows 10.

Can you please advise me on how to correct this issue to the email address provided?

Thank you for the opportunity to post.

Sincerely;

David Woolard

Is this the correct HD/SSD for Precision M6800 2nd HD bay?

Hi,

I just bought a new SSD for my M6800 laptop with the view to re-installing Windows10 on it.

The 2nd HD bay/caddy look to me like they are for a normal 2.5 HD, this is an SSD and I wonder if it will fit securely, I've not taken the SSD out of it's plastic sleeve in case it needs to go back.

The manual for this Dell laptop does not show if an SSD will fit.

This is what I bought

http://www.originstorage.com/product/OMLC256SATA-2-5

Has anyone installed one of these, or any other SSD 2.5 into the second drive bay of a M6800?

Thanks in advance

Inspiron 3521 Crash

I have this Laptop with Windows 10 upgraded on it from Windows 8.  It was working properly before the issue listed below:

I decided to remove Windows 10, not before creating a Recovery USB Drive (see attached photo).

(The USB Drive was automatically labeled:  SYSRECOVERY

I created my USB Drive and  created a Recovery USB Drive to rollback to Windows 8.  After what appears to be a successful Recovery USB  Drive Disk, the recovery starts and goes to 4% then I get an error message:  0x4001100200001005 and the recovery process stops with an error message. The only option is to reboot the laptop with the same issue.  I removed the USB Drive and rebooted. I get an error message:  "No Boot Device Found.  Press Any Key To Reboot Computer."

The computer is a Inspiron 3521.

The service tag is:  <Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK>.

I have ran the Dell Diagnostics with no errors detected.

I have switched from boot options from UEFI to Legacy and Legacy to UEFI with same results.

I've tried to use different boot disks to no avail.

Your advise is sincerely appreciated.

Sincerely

David Woolard

Dell Inspiron 9400 and the charger has stopped working.

I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 and the charger has stopped working. I've looked on the Dell support site and they don't sell replacement chargers.  I've looked on ebay and they are awash with dell chargers from £6 to £99.    But how can I be sure they won't be some sloppily made Chinese clone that'll burn my house down!?

I would have a go at repairing the charger if Dell had not seen fit the heat weld the two halves closed!

What actually the mSATA is doing?

MGJN9 Charger broken - Not Accidental damage

$

I bought a Dell Inspiron 5558 a week ago off ebay. Its a Thailand import and I had the warranty transferred today successfully.

But, yesterday when I checked my charger, the adaptor was broken on one side (check the pics). And, I am pretty sure that the piece never fell down. The damage is obviously from the inside and it is almost evident that some internal part of the charger bulged out and broke the external casing. Anyways, I called CC and they told me that it would be taken under accidental damage and since the charger doesn't have accidental cover, I would have to pay for it.

Now, when I think about it, it isn't accidental damage at all, and it almost looks like a heating issue on the inside. But, Dell wants me to pay for a manufacturing defect saying it's accidental damage. I need help here. Though the charger still works and I am able to charge the laptop with it, I still need to replace it. So, any help is appreciated since it has been less than a week since I started using the laptop and I was expecting much more from Dell.

Apart from that issue, the CC is awesome and they took the time to clear every doubt I had.

Installing Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 17 5758 notebook

Hello,

We purchased a Dell Inspiron 17 model 5758 notebook, which comes with Windows 10

preinstalled.  We need to wipe that OS and install Windows XP. Please no comments about

the OS being non-supported or no drivers. I will obtain the drivers (Video, Network) that will

work with this system from Intel.

That being said, I am getting stop errors A5 and 7B on the install. I'm not so worried about

the A5 as pressing F7 will fix this error and it can be addressed later. The 7B is giving me

a bit of grief. Now, this laptop has newer BIOS than some of the older Dell laptops and desktop

that I have dealth with in the past.  The SATA mode only seems to have SATA and Disabled. I

really need ATA/IDE mode, which this BIOS does not seem to have.

When loading WinXP using a floppy with some generic SATA/AHCI drivers, I continue to

get stop 7B errors. How can I get past this?  Is there a specific driver that will work better?

A BIOS update? Or am I out of luck with this one and have to resort to an earlier Dell Inspiron

model?

Thanks

Mike

Hey guys, I bought my Xps 15 two week ago (I7 512GB 16GB 4K Touch screen) and had the same static sound problem so I returned it and changed one. Unfortunately, the new Xps 15 9550 still have the noise problem.

This morning l read all your posts and tried to solve this problem, When I  turned off the MaxxRadiao 's Speaker Enhancement , the Static noise disappeared. It has been 30 mins and l no more heard any sparking noise or static noise when I watched videos and streams. So l thought this might also worked for you guys.

Here is the solution:

Double click Dell Audio and Turn off the speaker Enhancement.

If this also work for you , please let me know

Dell XPS 15 (9550) Dead - Suggestions on what to do?

After a few weeks of using it, my XPS 15 died - just shut down while I was typing - just dead.  It is charging - the light at the front lights up, but when I press the power button, it just lights up(the button) for a sec, then turns off. Nothing happens to the rest of the laptop (the screen does not even turn on).

I've tried disconnecting the battery to remove the static, that did not work.

Hoping someone here can help. Thanks!

Power Manager Lite Problem

$

Got a new Dell Inspiron 5555 back in November and works relatively fine until this last week when the Power Manager Lite box shows up on screen consistenly at booting up and when plugged in.  Sometimes the AC adapter shows it's plugged in and charging while other times it is not charging.  I've done everything I know to do such as check all connections and even gone into BIOS to change to "disabled" the ac power adapter warning. But still this box with Power Manager Lite keeps showing up.  Is there a defect in the warning system or is my AC adapter corrupt?  It is the same adapter (Dell 45 watt) sent with the computer in November so I don't know if that's what is the problem or not.  Also sent email to tech support but haven't heard back from them yet.  For example right now the adapter is plugged in but not charging yet it is attached correctly!  This is so frustrating!  Any advice?

E6500 No power lights, No power up

E6500 Model PP30L Year 2008

Will not power up.  If the power button is pushed, nothing happens.  No lights.  No sounds.  Nothing.

This laptop was working.  It needed a new hard drive, so it sat for several months while I saved money for a SSD.  I left the laptop turned off and the AC adapter was plugged in.  .

The light is on at the end of the power adapter.  I tried a different power adapter from another laptop.

The battery shows 5 lights when the test button is pushed.  I tried starting with the battery in and with the battery out.  The battery charging light on the laptop does not turn on.

I tried everything that I could find on this forum and several other forums.  Like removing the drives, reseating memory, holding the power button with the battery and AC removed, etc.

Any ideas?
