Lately my Dell Inspiron 17 5000 series has demonstrated flickering of the screen when a certain amount of weight was applied to the bottom left corner of the laptop. I have never dropped it and make sure to handle it carefully. Tonight as I was playing games on the laptop, the screen went completely black after violently flickering for several seconds. I turned off the computer and then turned it back on but the screen was still black. I know that the problem is with the monitor and not the computer itself because I can hear the fan whirring and the backlight of the keyboard comes on. I would try entering safe mode but I cannot see anything on the screen: it is completely black. I'm assuming that there is a problem in some wiring that goes toward the screen but I have no clue.

Changing the Physical Keyboard
I have a Dell Inspiron N5040 bought in France, with French Windows 7. I am back in the UK and would like to change the physical keyboard to English UK. Looking on Ebay the English UK keyboard is the same layout. Am I right that I can buy one and swap the keyboards and then configure it in Control Panel? Seems like it, but I want to check before buying! Thanks

international warranty transfer
Help, Dell are doing my head in!!
Bought a new U3415W monitor from a seller on Amazon (a company in the US), then had it shipped to home in Hong Kong. It worked for less than 1 hour before completely dying on me. No power at all. Tried calling Dell HK for assistance, but they cannot do anything before I transfer the warrant across. I do this but now just received an email from them declining the transfer as the tag does not match the previous owner information. I don't know the exact name so cannot transfer across!!
Does anyone have any advice because this is ridiculous. Dell have produced a faulty product and now making it hard for me to get repaired.

I have some questions regarding the Dell Pre-Boot System Assessment (PSA).
PSA is a diagnostic tool that is built in to your computer and is accessed before the operating system loads.
Question 1:
Will the PSA tool be available/ or deleted after a clean Win 10 install (assuming the Dell Partition will be deleted)?
Question 2:
If the PSA will be deleted, is there a reinstallation possibility? If yes, how?

Num Lock indicator on Latitude E5550
Is there no way to visually see whether the Num Lock is enabled or disabled -- even if only at the time the button is pushed? I guess I'm thinking of a utility or that briefly shows an indicator on the screen.

Laptop becoming extremely hot

I just purchased a Dell XPS 13, I have had it for 2 days and have noticed the bottom becoming extremely hot and their has been no air flow coming out of the grill for the fans. Is this normal/what should I do?

Dell XPS M1730
Hi,
After many years of happy computing with my Dell XPS M1730 laptop it decided to stop working over the Christmas period. The laptop just went blank and switched off completely with NO lights or anything working.
I've since unplugged the power adapter and removed the cable from the laptop, i then plug the power adapter into the mains socket and the blue light appears on the power adapter, however when i then plug the cable into the back of the Laptop the light goes off and there is still no power.
Can anyone help??

New Inspiron 15 7559
I have a user that brought in a new Inspiron i7559-2512BLK. Nice looking, and runs fast!
I needed load Win10 Enterprise on it in order to manage in our domain. So I attached my trusty Win10Ent USB and fired it up. Sortly thereafter, I got a Memory_Management BSOD and it rebooted. Huh...
Ok, well I saw it running Windows 10 Home just fine. So I booted it back into Windows and ran memory diags. No issues.
So I grabbed another DDR3L 8GB 1600 chip, and swapped it out (very easy access, thanks Dell). Same result on Win10 Ent install.
So, my question is, has anyone else reloaded Windows Clean on these? Do I need to inject drivers to the stock Windows 10 install? Or is this unit bad? I'm hoping someone has some in-site or direction.

Dell Inspiron 17 stuck in repair loop
Hi Everybody,
I was only watching a movie when I guess microsoft pushed an update and now my Dell Inspiron 17 laptop is stuck in the repair loop and I haven't been able to find any answers on forums on how to fix this. Have spent many hours searching and reading but no luck so far.
I dont have a recovery disk and my pc doesn't have Windows 8. I dont know anybody who has Windows 8 to make me one. And my laptop came with pre-installed Windows 8. Can anybody help please?

Dell XPS 15-9550 with External Monitor HP2311xi - keep getting blank screen on and off -
Bought DELL XPS 15-9550 with intel Core i7, 16G RAM, 1TB SSD HD, with Nvidia-GeForce GTX 960M from Best Buy last November.
Connected to external monitor HP2311xi through the HDMI.
Issue:
Everytime need to set up display as 2 display, HP as Main and laptop as extended. Then every 5 to 6 min, the system reverted back to single display by first blanking the screens.
Reset the display by clicking detect and the laptop screen come back alive, and then after 5 to 6 same thing happened
Talk to Geek Squad. Change the cable, update the Intel HD graphics drive, reinstall and uninstall. Still happening
Update BIOS to the latest available still not solve the issue
Even after letting it in single display mode, the blanking keep continue. It is very annoying and distracting while working.
Any one encounter the same issue. Please share the resolution

Dell Latitude E5550 randomly going to sleep
I just put out a bunch of new Latitude E5550's for our users. This one user kept complaining that it would go to sleep randomly while she was typing. I tried re-imaging it, replacing the docking station, mouse, power supply and anything else plugged into it and it still kept doing the same thing. But I could never get it to happen while I was using it. So I replaced the laptop all together with a known good one and still the same results. Finally after I was about to give up completely I noticed she was wearing a bracelet and some rings on her right arm. I asked to try removing all her jewelry and see if that makes a difference. Sure enough it fixed the problem. Turns out her bracelet had a magnetic clasp that was triggering a sensor to think the lid was being closed and putting the computer to sleep. I hope this can help someone save their sanity because I couldn't find anything on the web about anyone else having this same problem.

Realtek PCIe Card Reader Driver
When I look at the drivers for my system (my service tag), there is one for the Realtek RTS5242 PCIe Gen2 CardReader. When I get information on my system from Device Manager and another tool, it says that I have a Realtek RTS525A Card Reader not a RTS5242. Also the current driver versions are very different:
(1) RTS5242 is v10.0.370.94
(2) RTS525A is v10.0.10125.21277
I cannot find any information on either of these devices on the Realtek support site so I do not know what is correct. I do not want to install an incorrect driver. Any help is appreciated.

USB boot disc not working
I have a new M17 r3 and have had no end of trouble with Windows 10 I tried to reinstall OS with Alien respawn and that made it worse. I got a recovery USB stick from dell and used that but it installed it on the wrong drive. So I have tried again now it will not boot from USB drive. I need to know were I can down load a clean boot disk and since it may be a Disk drive (virus) problem how can I wipe the drives. The recovery drive does not work. Basically I have a large paperweight. Thanks in advance for any help

Wi-Fi connection issues with new Dell Insprion 7558
Randomly loses connection when other wireless devices in the home are working perfectly fine. Requires a restart to correct the problem, which seems to take longer than it should. The computer has also had a Driver-power-state-failure which consumed the machine for about 10 min. to resolve. Also getting the periodic blank black screen sometimes during wake up. This is a brand new computer that starting doing this immediately. Any Thoughts.

RAID Adapter for XPS L702X?
I have an XPS L702X with a second drive bay but it doesn't come with a RAID adapter. I'd like to put in a second ssd and use both drives in a RAID 1 configuration. Does anyone know of an aftermarket RAID adapter compatible wi this motherboard?
