Hello

I purchased my laptop on December 5 2016. The warranty covers until March 4 2016. Randomly my laptop will disconnect from my wifi network and say there are none available. When I go onto the wifi settings it says no connections are available and therefore can not connect to the internet. I thought at first my router was not working but then realized I couldn't find any wifi networks at all, not even my neighbors. It will happen randomly when I'm on my laptop, or when I boot it up after shutting it down.

It is extremely annoying and I usually restart my laptop to solve the issue. Around 65% of the time, when I reboot my laptop it will work again, but then only to have the same problem later on in the day, or the following day. Sometimes I will have to reboot my laptop several times for it to work, and I get extremely frustrated and would like to get it fixed asap. 

I thought it was my wifi driver not working, but when I went on the dell driver update website it confirmed all drivers were up to date and functioning properly. I believe it is my network card in my laptop, but I'm not sure as to the malfunction of it. I bought it at Best Buy and would like to sent it to their repair team called Geek Squad who does full repairs under warranty. I would just like your opinion on if it is my network card or not, and if I can avoid the repair and fix it myself with your help, it would be greatly appreciated. If not, I'm not concerned.

Is it possible to remove the keys from the keyboard (safely)? I was doing a no-no and split soda in it and a few keys are sticking.

Happy New Year,

I'm having unresolved problem with my INSPIRON N5040. I upgraded to windows 10 and I later did a recovery after I noticed some slowness in the system operation.

After the recovery, the error I got is :

An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives than don't contain an operating system.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.

I have used Windows 7 USB DVD download tool, Rufus Portable, ZOTAC WinUSB maker, RMPrepUSB and Universal USB Installer but non of them could solve the problem. I later created windows 10 media through USB drive. After inserted the USB, my PC displayed windows logo for about 1 minute and 30 seconds and displayed the following error:

What can I do. Where can I get a recovery tools and can I use USB?

Hi, the 14 7447(i5) laptop variant I have has no backlit keyboard since the variant they sell in the Philippines has no backlit keyboard. The feature is extremely useful so I'd like to ask:

Can the non backlit keyboard be replaced by a backlit variant?

Hi,

   I recently purchased a Dell Latitude 10 ste 2 tablet. I put my sd card into the slot and for some reason it won't pick it up. I have tried everything to get it to work. I feel like I'm missing a driver for the SD card slot. The person that had the tablet before me updated to Windows 10 and the SD card slot did not work. So once I received it my hubby downgraded it to Windows 8 hoping that the update or driver will install it's self. Nothing happened and it still didn't work. I even bought the right SD card for the tablet (64gb SDXC 48mb Sandisk Ultra Plus). I am stuck with a tablet that I can't even upgrade the memory. Can someone tell me what's missing or what I'm doing wrong so that I can use my tablet the way it's suppose to be used? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi everybody,

I'm currently at Paris and my XPS 13 is badly damaged (hardware speaking). I need to replace the speakers and possibily the carcass.

I would really like to know if there's a dell boutique in Paris where I can get my dell repared with the proper replacements.

The FedEx website said that the package from Dell had been delivered to my house on the 29th. I asked  my parents if they had seen it, and they did not. I called FedEx the next day about what had happened, and the driver told them that he had delivered two packages to my address that day. The only one of those Packages that I ever saw was a Lostprophets CD. I then told FedEx that my package was stolen, and they will contact Dell for a replacement. Because I am NOT spending 150 more dollars on a second box to get stolen.

When I tried to chat online with Dell about my laptop, which I had received in Marh 2013, I got this message:

Our records show that your Dell product support warranty has expired. We are still here for you and offer a variety of solutions, some of which are listed below.

I have an early 2015 xps 13 i7. And I am thinking whether to upgrade to the sky lake version, invest on the Xps 15 or explore an alternative form factor such as surface pro 4 i7.

I am new to cpu numbers but I noticed the top new xps 13 uses the 6500U they had Intel 520 graphics. Any idea why dell did not go with the seemingly better 6650u as in surface pro 4 with iris 540 graphics? Any plans to expand options later?

Hi all (Dell - mods - would especially appreciate your response):

I am considering buying a Samsung 950 SSD for my XPS 13 9350.  The machine currently has 128GB SATA SSD.

Does anyone know - and I called and chatted with Dell Tech Support and it seems like they are not too familiar with these concepts - whether these machines support 2 or 4 lanes PCIe for the SSD?

One Dell rep on the phone told me 2 lanes.  A Dell chat support told me 4 lanes.  Neither seemed too confident in their answer and one referred me to a Wikipedia page as a source.

I know the 9350 supports PCIe connections.   Just trying to figure out if it is 4 or 2 since that will impact the speed - and decision on what SSD to buy.

From what I see the machine also supports NVMe - but if anyone knows this for sure please let me know.

Hi guys,

I have a massive problem with my new Alienware 17 r3 laptop I did a clean install of Windows 17 r3 as per request of a Alienware support agent here and since then I keep getting

BSOD's for Nvidia graphic card, SATA Raid controller, when i open Support Assist i sometimes get a BSOD sometimes it completely shuts down the laptop, I do a scan with the support

assist app and i get Primary surface test : ERROR WVC07-L7R for my GTX 970 and I did not have this error when I first had the laptop 1 month ago. Some of the Alienware software dont

work I try reinstalling the on screen display twice and still does not work when i click the function key and F1 i still dont see no on screen display to either reoot or shutdown in

order to unplugg my graphic amplifier.

So what did I do wrong ? id there a specific way to install Windows and Apps/Drivers for Alienware?

I have a SSD boot drive so I installed the RST drivers when I booted off my USB key in order to view my SSD to install Windows 10 on it.

Steps I took to install Windows and bring my laptop to Alienware Factory Specs:

1- booted with my USB stick

2- Installed SSD drivers

3- Selected my SSD from the list and formated it

4- Installed Windows on the newly formated SSD

5- Once in Windows I installed all Alienware apps then installed all the drivers then did the bios update like the recommend on the Dell support page for my Alienware 17 r3.

Now with all this finished I have all kinds of errors (BSOD) and like I said certain Alienware apps don't work and I get BSOD's when openning the Support Assist app from Dell.

So please help me and if I did something wrong it would be nice to know so I can make it right and redo the clean install. If i would of known in advance that I would of gotten all

these problems I would not of touch it and left it the way it was. As I only had issues with the Killer networking DoubleShot that the Alienware could not fix that is when he

decided and told me to go ahead and do a system reset (clean install). WOW what a mistake :(

Hi Guys,

I have a Dell Latitude E5450 with Windows 7. This morning suddenly when I took off my charging cable, my laptop got shut. I plugged in the charger again and I am able to boot my laptop, however as soon as I remove the cable is shuts again.

I have already tried different chargers, it doesn't work with any, it says 52% charged (Plugged in but not charging).

 I see a yellow light blinking at the bottom right indicator of the laptop . My laptop is 5 months old.

I checked the F2 BIOS ans it says 52% charged, idle , battery needs to be replaced.

I have tried different steps like disable/enable the battery from device manager, I cannot remove my battery as it is locked under the screws.

Please help me guys. Will it help If I use the original charger ? I am using a different Dell charger in Office (Old Latitude Charger).

I have dell xps 13, yesterday the laptop warmed up and after that is not working without the charger.

another thing is that the battery light in top of laptop is orange, not solid.

I  need to install a program and i need to use the All Programs tab from the Start Menu. However, Dell has changed the Start Menu and i can't figure out how to call up the All Programs tab. 

I would appreciate some help figuring out how to find it.

Hello,

This may sound weird but my 1 week old dell laptop started to make weird squeaky noises while powered on.

The sound is squeaky/squealing and is relatively quiet comparing to the multimedia speakers and the system beeps.

I am sure that:
- Its not the multimedia speaker or audio jack, because the sound comes from the inside of the case, even if the audio is muted or with speakers plugged in
- Its not the BIOS related beeps, because its far quieter than the beeps i got from the diagnostic software.

I cannot distinguish if its mechanical or electrical but my guesses are:
- a faulty fan with noisy bearing, however the sound seems to be independent of fan/cpu load.
- HDD mechanical issue, however it is not related to HDD load and just happens randomly
- Some sort of short circuit inside the case.e

The dianostics, both the pre-boot one as well as dell's windows diagnostics software shows that everything is ok. I am not sure if "laptop is making unusuall noise from time to time" is good enough to call for tech support.

So, have anyone from You guys had a similar issue and may tell what might be going on?

Dear All,

Please help me i am in big trouble!!!

I went to the setup by pressing F2 button after starting my dell inspiron n 5010 where i press load default settings. Now my laptop is asking a system password from me and i don;t know the password. The password is a black prompt window. I am sure its the bios password. I have the tag# and Customer number.

I will be glad if anybody helped me. thanks
