Hello everyone,
I have a dell inspirion 17 r n5150 that i have had for about three years. I was playing counter strike when the computer mysteriously shut off. now the computer wont turn. I just replaced the battery last month. I detatched the battery, held down the power button. still nothing turned on. Whenever i unplugged the charge box from the wall and plugged it into a new outlet the light on the box turned green. when i plugged it into my computer the light on the box flashed green one time and turned black. Tested it with another charging cable and the same thing happened. all of this happened with the battery plugged in and with the battery taken out. I NEED YOU HELP PLEASE. what should i do?
Hi,
I have alienware 15 and it recently developed a problem with its charging. It keeps going on and off. Power cables are plugged in correctly, no sign of any damage to laptop and charging cable. It just keeps flickering.
Please help
I purchased a Dell XPS 9530 with 3yr NBD service in Feb 2015. Shortly after purchasing it I became aware of a problem when connecting a Garmin satnav. The Garmin would connect then disconnect almost immediately and proceed to connect/disconnect whilst the Garmin was plugged into the USB. It didn't make any difference if the Garmin was plugged into the USB 2.0 or 3.0. At the time I didn't think that it was a serious problem and assumed that dell would release a new driver or Firmware update to combat the problem. I was mainly using this XPS to familiarise myself with Windows 8.1/10 and was using my older Windows 7 laptop to work with mobile devices like the Garmin.
In November I was forced to move to working on the XPS only. Still having problems with connecting multiple mobile devices with USB and after updating all the drivers on the laptop it was clear that there was still no solution to the USB connect/disconnect problem. At this point I began to suspect this was no longer a Driver/Firmware problem and having exhausted all my technical knowledge I decided on 14th December to Report it to Dell Technical Support. Dell Hardware support swiftly pass me off to Dell Software support where I was informed that the service would be charged for should the resolve the problem. Having spent a couple of hours trying to resolve the problem remotely the technician ran out of time and we agreed he would try and resolve it at a later date. In the meantime I discovered a workaround for the problem but it was a drastic measure to say the least. If you disabled the Nvidia graphics controller then the USB's would function properly. I also rolled the Laptop back to the Factory image to prove the fault existed with it installed. When the software technician called back I informed him of my findings and he spent another couple of hours connected remotely to the laptop. Eventually he passed me back to Hardware support who dispatched a motherboard and USB daughter board for next day repair.
On 18th December a engineer arrived on site with a REFURBISHED motherboard and new daughterboard for replacement. Having informed the engineer I was unhappy about the Refurbished part I agreed then to let the repair take place. After the repair there was a smell of burning from the laptop and the Mouse, Screen & Keyboard failed to function. We were unable to confirm if the original fault was resolved so another Motherboard was dispatched that evening to be replaced on 21st December. I also specified I did not want a refurbished part and I requested a newer revision of the motherboard.
On 21st December an engineer arrived to replace motherboard but again it was a REFURBISHED part and it was the same revision as the last part. I agreed to let the repair go ahead but even though the motherboard worked better that the last replacement it still had the original Fault with the USB's. The engineer left after he reported this to dell.
Later that evening (21st December)I contacted Dell who accepted that the next step was to apply for a replacement and they told me that a decision would be made in the next 24 - 48 Hrs. As of now 3.15pm on 29th December having contacted Dell a number of times in the last week I still haven't heard if I am going to receive a replacement laptop. I have to say I am really disappointed with my experience of Dell Technical support in this case.
Is this a known fault with the XPS 9530?
Has anyone else experienced problems with USB's and mobile devices on the XPS 9530 and if so how would they rate their experience with Dell Support?

I'm trying to run a scan of my Inspiron 1545 on dell.com, but when I click 'run' on the System Detect .exe I get an error "Application cannot be started. Contact the application vendor". And when I click "Details" I get this message:

My numeric keypad does not work. What can I do to get it working? One of the main reasons I got this computer was for the keypad.
Hi,
I gave my Inspiron laptop to a local repair shop to its non-working wi-fi repaired. Because of their non-professional style of working, they short-circuited the motherboard itself.
After a lot of conflicts, I took the case to consumer court.
Now, is it possible to know how motherboard got kaput (bad) and at what day/time?
Is there any log file generated in windows which keeps a track of last operation done in windows?
This information can help me win my case.
Thanks.

My Inspirion 15 (l15RV-6190) won't even get to the BIOS screen. I took the battery out and held the power button for 30 seconds and when I reconnect the power supply the power light comes on for a few seconds and the switches off for a few seconds a few times before finally staying on. I tried swapping the memory chips and reseating the hard drive The screen stays completely black and there is no sound. Please help. Thanks.
Hi all,
I'm facing the exact issue posted in the Video of the below thread. Can someone suggest me the right fix to get rid off this issue.
I'm running Dell Precision M4800 Workstation I've just upgraded my BIOS to the latest (A15) available version.
I'm quite concerned as this is the first BIOS upgrade that significantly impacted my machine performance in a negative way... What I mean by that is that my boot up time has increased dramatically - with previous BIOS versions it was super-fast while now it takes up to 20-25 seconds until Windows seem to load.
I've changed the POST test to minimum (it was initially set to thorough) but I have not noted any significant improvement.
Before I go for a "reset to default" option, I'd like to ask for any advice on that.
Hello!
After clean installation of Windows 10 to my Inspiron 7720 I founded that after using of USB flash drives error appears in the system registry. The error lies in the fact that the search query in the registry freezes and goes forever. Through trial and error I founded that сatalogs with endless trees appears after usage of USB flash drives.
This catalogs are situated here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\DeviceClasses\{7f108a28-9833-4b3b-b780-2c6b5fa5c062}\
Please see picture attached. How can I fix this problem?
İ would like to ask about the power share option of my dell ins. 7537 after windows 10. İ didnt work after update. İ allredy looked into the bios settings but the bios says power sgare usb option is on. Does anybody have the same issue?
Dell XPS L421X
with intel i5-3317u cpu
8 Gb RAM and Windows 10
I have serious issues with overheating ,CPU reaching 96 degrees and idle temp around 65 degrees...
(updated bios, ran multiple checks for motherboard and cpu, hardware cleaned from dust, changed thermal paste, new OS, no viruses)
Please, help
Just a few lessons learned, hope this helps someone: I tried upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on an Inspiron M5030 and had nothing but problems, it seemed to keep locking up and either going back to Windows 7 with an error, or just locking on a black screen and I had to restart and Win 10 would reinstall Win 7 back to where it started with an error. I finally ended up reinstalling Windows 7 from Dell restore drive. I then downloaded ALL Win 7 updates that were available (takes a LONG time). I did NOT install any antivirus programs or Dell updates to drivers or utilities. After all Win updates were installed, I let auto update do the Windows 10 upgrade and it finally worked. I get a few error messages that something is not running correctly, but I do not think they are show stoppers. If you can afford to blow out your hard drive and reinstall, this worked for me. Good luck.
After successful update from BIOS A15 to BIOS 16, my mSATA SSD operates only in SATA II mode (instead of SATA III)
The default Chipset drivers (version 8.1.10600.150) shipped with the Inspiron 7353 and 7359 seem to cap the Skylake i7-6500U processor at 2.5GHz (instead of the 3.1GHz turbo frequency). Looking at the Passmark benchmark database it seems these 2 models consistently have 20% less CPU performance than other Dells with the same processor. (I can't tell if this affects the i5 version)
This is similar to the drop in GPU performance described in this post: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3519/p/19658296/20858259#20858259
Using Device Manager to update the Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework drivers to version 8.1.10603.192 seems to fix both the CPU and GPU performance problems, but I'm not sure if using non-Dell drivers would create more problems.
I installed Windows 10 -win64- on my Inspiron N5010 (prior was Windows 7). Now bluetooth is not working! How can I fix that? Do I need a new driver and where to find it?
Help please asap.
I bought an inspiron 7559 last month on amazon. The model is the one with i5 and sandisk SSD.
Today it suddenly freezes when i am browsing the internet. All inputs doesn't work, and I pushed power botton to shut it down.
Upon restarting, it freezes again a few seconds after entering desktop. If I choose not to login, it will also freeze after a few seconds.
The next time I reboot, dell preboot diag shows up and gave me a failed short test result on hard drive 1. That hard drive is an intel 535 SSD which I installed in addition to the M.2 SSD coming with the machine.
Considering my boot drive is not hard drive 1 but 0, I removed hard drive 1 from machine. Freezing persists.
I tried using factory recovery, but after that the machine won't even boot. It shows a blank screen and when it does boot occasionally, it freezes at windows 10 logo screen.
Just FYI, each time when it freezes, the heat is up and fan runs loud.
Considering now all pre-boot diag tests passed(though after i exit the test sometimes a blank screen will show up), is it still possible there is a hardware error? If there is a software error instead, why doesn't recovering from factory image work? If you have any ideas, please reply me asap.
