Inspiron 15R 5537 DVD Drive HL-DT-ST DVD+-GU90N will not read any disk
I ha a major virus problem, all my partitions including the recovery were corrupted.The drive has been cleaned and Windows Pro 8.1 has been installed. Everything is running fine EXCEPT the DVD drive. It is recognized by the Device Manager but will not recognize any disk. MS Fixit-no help, Troubleshooter-no help. Dell driver scan and update all recommended drivers-no help. Any help please.

Alienware m14x 2000-0142 hard drive replacement and installation
Hi there,
just recently had my Alienware M14x windows 7 operating system
(its three years old and out of warranty)
crash out on me. I managed to perform the diagnostic before it went completely
ka-put, and receieved the 2000-0142 code and found out i have to replace the HDD.
The questions i have are,
what hard drive disc would work for me?(part number PCJG4, desc. HARD DRIVE, 500, S2, 7.2, 2.5, 512E, DRU)
Is this as simple as opening it up and changing out the hard drive?
or would i need to install anything along side it?(like new windows software)
and once i remove the other hard drive is it possible to get any of my data off it with an external hard drive setup?

unknown devices after windows 7 reinstall
My Alienware 14 crashed and the only thing that worked was a complete reinstall of Windows 7 from the Alienware CD. After installation, I still had 3 unknown devices in Device Manager. I cannot seem to find the right drivers for these:
Network Controller
Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Unknown Device
I am hoping someone smarter than me has seen these errors and has a fix.

Inspiron 15a (3541) driver issue
Hi there,
I am missing a driver for the PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller. I have gone to the Dell Support page and installed all the drivers there and yet my Device Manager still shows that there is no driver for said controller.

My Dell Inspiron 15 3521 Making Loud Clicking / Tuck Sound
Respected All,
I am facing problem in my laptop. First when I start, It starts normally. When I shut down. and then start again same time then it gives my clicking / tuck tuck sound with a 2 to 3 seconds of interval. The screen is black. Nothing displayed. When I wait for 5 to 10 min. and then try to start laptop. it start working. The sound is coming from the left side. When the computer starts. It is very normal. No HDD sound and nothing. just run normally. but when I Shut Down. and Start it on the same time. It gives me that annoying sound. I try the hardware diagnosis by FN+Power. It shows no error. All the tests passed. Can anyone help me out that what is problem in my Laptop please..

Dell Inspiron N5110
Laptop model: Dell Inspiron N5110. My laptop had recently been lagging terribly, taking about 10 minutes to just open the start menu. So indecided Id restore it to factory settings, which I did and it still remained the same with windows lagging terribly. So i got a windows 7 disc which I had an reinstalled windows completely and everything seemed to work fine no lag nothing. So i proceeded to install all drivers necessary and after a restart of one of the installations windows fails to boot and keeps taking me into startup repair. Everytime i try reinstall windows this happens. Please help

How to access bios on dell inspiron 7537 ?

I recently bought a dell inspiron 7537, 1 TB storage, 8gb ram, Intel i7 with Intel HD graphics card. I tried to press F2 when dell logo appears on power on. But it loads phoenix secure core setup instead of bios. How can I access bios from here.
Also can you recommend when's I should over clock my laptop running @ 1.8ghz to 3ghz. Thanks in advance.

My INSPIRON 14Z 5423 connects to the internet by wi-fi and cable but does not access any site.

I'm an unhappy owner of 5423 Inspiron14Z Ultrabook. After a year of use presented a serious problem. The machine connects to the internet by wi-fi and cable but does not access any site. I'm for weeks trying to solve the problem with Dell with no solution. Any procedure recommended by Dell resolves. I've never seen a machine that connects to the network and does not allow access to any site. Dell support in Brazil cannot resolve the problem or recommend me a technical assistance to solve. *** time I switched brands. For years I have HP equipment in the Office and at home and never had this kind of problem or support.
What should I do with this Dell equipment ?

Ghosting on my touchpad!!!
Initially I was VERRY disappointed. I opened the box and….DOA (dead on arrival). Which means, here in Greece, after a couple of days they gave me the same laptop with a different set of batteries. Then I experienced a ghost touching in mouse pad. I decided to download all the drivers existed in Dell’s website. Unfortunately a driver for the Wi-Fi encounter a problem and Wi-Fi stopped working. This means no internet connection and no possibility to resolve it. So I did a clean installation of Windows again. Then started an extreme ghost problem. To resolve it I had to buy the Microsoft Arc in order to use my laptop without touching the screen. After this I downloaded I driver which improved things but the ghost problem remains not so often. I found that if I push a little the chassis under the mouse pad, things are working!!! Yeah. Now I have 2 small plastic "caps" under the mousepad and everything seems to work fine!!! I don’t want to mention other laptops brands but I had a lot of laptops in my life and the aforementioned experience is my first.

Dell Inspiron 7000 series dual monitor issue
Today tried to connect Dell Inspiron 7437 to external monitor using HDMI cord; it did not work. I changed setting to external monitor only and now cannot get an image on laptop screen or external monitor when HDMI cord is connected. Tried to restart computer; still goes to blank screen as soon as I plug in HDMI.
1. How to a return to default setting for laptop display so it's only set to laptop?
2. Is it possible to connect inspiron 7000 to external monitor with hdmi?

M4500 Precision
Hello,
I have a Dell Precision M4500. Very nice laptop, which never let me down.
Until today...
It simply does not start up. When I switch it on, the only thing that happens is the Ventilator that starts to blow for a few seconds, but then it switches off. Next to this there are 3 leds that turn on, of which the left one blinks for a few times. Then all switches off. No more life...
I opened it already to get out the memory cards, one by one, to see if it would start up without one of them, but this does not help.
Is there anyone who can help?

anyways it has been running super slow then today im looking at i see this

Latitude E6420 HDMI audio
I have an Latitude E6420 loaded with Ubuntu 14.04. As the subject states, I have audio when displaying through HDMI. Absolutely no problems with the video, so I began searching for a driver I might have missed but to no avail. Does anyone have any suggestions to remedy the situation?

Broken wlan card
I have a dell inspiron m5010 that i got from a friend (with no charger, luckily i had one from the inspiron 1520) running on linux and after months of that annoyence i took it to a store to get win 7 reinstalled (and it was a dell aproved store)on it and he said that "the wlan card has something wrong with" and its not identified at all in device manger, not even as "unknown device" , is there any way to safely replace it, and i do know it came with wifi and as of its service code is 5 years old and its warrenty has expired.

Discoloring / Stain of Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Laptop
Hey y'all
I have discoloring on the palm rests, cover to the computer, as well as the corners. I've read some forums which said it was from sweat, but since it's on many sides I don't think it's due to that. I've tried rubbing alcohol, WD40, soap and water, even nail polish remover to see what would get it off and nothing takes it off. It doesn't get hot in the areas where it's discolored just the bottom where the fan is if it's sitting without ventilation for a long time.
I'm not sure what it is, but my question is: Is there any way to get it off without replacing the computer?
Update: I just got off chat with Dell and they are sending someone to replace the parts that are affected on my computer BUT I am just wondering for future references if this starts to happen again. I doubt anyone would find this post useful but I can post an update to see if the discoloration starts to happen again after the affected areas get replaced.
