Hi,

I have Latitude E7450 with Windows 8.1 with latest driver for fingerprint and I have problem with it. 

This is what windows told me:

EN: Device Control Vault w / Fingerprint Swipe Sensor (WBF location Function) is offline due to an error in the user mode driver. Number of further attempts to restart the Windows device: 5. For more information about this issue, please contact the manufacturer.
Error ID 10111.

And I also get this message:

Sometimes I have problem with logon to windows .... fingerprint is not available. It happens few time a day. 

Please could you help me with this problem?

My Dell XP L720X running windows 7 SP 1 will not install any new drivers for my devices. A few of the drivers still work (such as for my wireless printer), but many more do not. My iPhone is no longer recognized and no matter what I do (automatic download, using the drivers and downloads website, etc...) will let me reinstall it. Similarly, I cannot install a driver for my digital camera using any means. I assume this problem would involve for other devices I would try to install as well. I am desperate to be able to use my computer to use my devices. Any help would be much appreciated.

ok so every time I wake up my computer with the power button it takes a long time to come out of sleep mode probably takes over 30 sec or more it doesn't have a virus and it all update it is a Inspiron 17 running windows 8.1

this is actually the second time this happens.
last year I got a brand new alienware 17. for 6 months everything was fine, then the touchpad started peeling off. first there was a small hole in the coating, then it grew with use. it became impossible to use the touchpad as it was unpleasant to the touch nad snagged the skin in a way that made smooth gliding imposible. I called support and they had it replaced.

a month after that I started having various problems and support replaced the motherboard. since I bought it in the US but live in israel, I had to use the local Dell suppport which uses refurbished parts, and they ended up replacing 5 motherboards, each coming with its own problems, and other parts like the keyboard, (the latter for no good reason since the problem started and ended with the motherboard provided by them, as well as any other problem since the first motherboard replacement.) and the top casing as well, since one of thier techs put the screws not in the right order and places and ended up destroying the handrest I had. my warranty ended during that time (that ordeal lasted for MONTHS.)  and seeing as they didnt provide efficient support and wanted a LOT of money for warranty extention, I didnt extend it. but now I am faced with the same problem again, which it the touchpad peeling off and exposing a non pleasant to the touch surface beneath it.

is there any way to patch or repalce it without involving the (rather incompatent, I'm sorry, but it is true) local support, or is there any way to order and buy the part without involving them? (I've had Dell support tech come to my house that didnt know the first thing about the computer and ended up bolting things wrong and damaging the computer. if I now have to pay for the fix, at least I'm going to find a private tech that knows how to deal with alienware. I've had enough heartache with this comp.)

I have a Dell Mini Inspiron Mini 10,  Windows 7 Starter,  I use Fire Fox for my internet browser,   for the last few months fire fox has been slow, and keeps saying "Not Responding" then I will get a Script error or A Shock Wave error,   I have went in and turned off Shock wave to ask before running and  also went back to a previous version of Fire fox and No help there either. 

Can someone Help ?

I have a laptop (Inspiron 15-3521) that is a little less than 2 yrs old. I've been having some problems with the monitor - flickering one and one every once in a while, when I first open it up. No problems other than that. I've been meaning to open it up and reseat the LCD cord. 

In any way, last night, when I pushed the power button to turn it on, there was a little static charge. It didn't turn on, so I repeated a few times (pressing power button on), and after a few minutes, it worked and turned on. Today, I just tried turning it on, and it's not turning on at all. There are four lights - power, battery charging, something else, and wi-fi lights - and the power light comes on for a second when I press the power button, then it turns off. I also hear a faint noise, like something turning inside the laptop and then dying. If I plug it in, the battery charging light comes on. No other lights will turn on. 

I've tried taking the battery off, power cord off and holding power button down for 30 secs, another time for 3 minutes, etc. Any suggestions? There is no warranty left on this.

Hello all,

Ive had my dell xps l502x laptop for about 3 years now and ofc have run into some problems with overheating while playing games.

1st : this laptop is very powerful due to 8+gb i7 in it so it already runs hot

2: when ur playing game the processor is running at 100% due to the setting and from what Ive read about this is it goes from 2.3ghz - over 3 when its under a heavy load

these are reason y after while most gamers are having problems with this laptop but theres a fix! :)

Dell I'm not sure on the exact thermal paste they use in the cpu but its *** after a year or so. Not to mention the internal fan has small opening to let air flow.

So what I did is order internal fan (which has better vents 24$ or so from newgg) and got 99.9% silver artic thermal paste for inside. I watched a disassembly video on youtube on how to get parts out i need to get to the heatsink and internal fan.

When i got to  the inside the old thermal paste was very old n dry up and not even on the spot where it was needed. Clean old stuff off with proper stuff and replace thermal paste and internal fan.(took about 1hour 1st time I've ever taken laptop apart but ive done my share of desktops)

In the end its running like a *** champ again like when i bought it 3 years ago

Before this HW was temp at 60-70c idle and while running game would spike to 90-99c and would lag game itunes and whatever else was running and eventullay would turn off or blue screen.

Now it idles at 44-50c and only gets up to 70c max while playing games even multi clienting :)

One last thing about the processer as its auto set at 100% even after I did all this I still set it at 99% power. I read that at 100% power over time the fan will stop working and tbh that 1% drops temp down and you dont have to worry about it going full power and getting too hot again. Heres how to do that

control panel > power option >edit power plan>advance setting>admin change settings that are currently unavailable>processer power management>maxium processer state> change to 99%

I had set at 60% before I had thermal paste and new fan just so I could continue to use it until I fixed it :)

 Hello, I own an Inspiron N5050 with HDD locked and asking me for password. I can not find a solution on Google for this. Decided to call Support here and they wanted to charge $120. to renew my warranty and give me the code. Is there anything else I can do without having to pay all that extra money?  Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I updated the BIOS from its original firmware to A12 on this website

Unfortunately, it hang up at about Block 8/12. I waited for more than an hour and then turned it off. After that the laptop couldn't be turned on. I think I had bricked it

After searching on the web, I found some suggestions on mydellmini forum. I tried to use a USB drive to reflash the BIOS per this guide

However, no matter what key combination I tried (Fn + END or END or CTRL + END or Fn + B), the laptop did nothing. The light on the USB did come up but no flashing light, no beep-sound

Someone mentioned that they were successful only when using the USB Floppy Disk drive. I have bought the USB drive but the A12 firmware above is 4 MB and won't fit into a floppy disk

Anyone has the download link to the original system BIOS file that can fit into a Floppy Disk? I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet

So as you can see I'm not overly trained with computers and technology... but after a few days of being online looking for ways to solve my laptops problem I've become a little more familiar with what is going on... after running a preboot system assessment... my processor fan and hard drive are the 2 fails... I'm more concerned for my hard drive

the error code was 2000-0142

and

validation 19215...

can anyone help I'd hate to buy a new laptop

I recently purchase Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU N2830 @ 2.16GHz last December 16th 2014.

Now after I made some Run Test to update and ensure the drivers are up to date as well as to check for some errors. Then I got a failed status on my overall run test result. The problems stated there are the following:

I have a Inspiron 580 running Windows 7 that was posting hard drive failure messages.  I was able to backup to an external drive and created a system repair cd.  I purchased and installed new HD and attempted to boot with CD.  No prompts shown and monitor goes into sleep mode rather quickly.  Pressing power button shuts down immediately (no wait time as you would get with a booted device).  Pressing F2 during boot has no impact.  I had another dell and captured the key strokes needed if I could actually see anything - F12, Down Arrow, Enter,  <any key>.  I heard CD running, still no display.  Pressing power button does not shut down immediately.  Numerous posts suggest changing the boot order.  Re-installed failing HD hoping I could get in and make change.  No such luck, never get boot menu.  Any suggestions?

Dell Laptop: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU N2830 @ 2.16GHz

I would like to know these Two (2) errors I got from running Dell diagnostic test (Quick Run Test)

My laptop was 4 months old - Bought this one December 2014. Kindly explain these indications and the error signs of what steps for me to repair or will I require to get a new hardware on warranty.

My daughter is using a Dell Inspiron 11 3147 with Windows 8.1 and touchscreen. She has consistently complained that the colours appear washed out. This has been present ever since buying the computer in December 2014, but has corrected itself without doing anything once or twice in that time.

The colours do look very washed out. On close inspection, you can also faintly see previous windows displayed on the monitor through the current windows, including during rebooting, as if they are burnt into the display, though they do go eventually.

I have spent a while trying to look into this and correct it, and have tried the following.

1. Rebooting.

2. Adjusting display properties - brightness, colour management etc; and running the colour calibration tool. This changes screen brightness, contrast, colours, saturation etc, but the washed out appearance does not change.

3. Running the boot diagnostics, both the full set and the screen (power on +D) and I get no error messages.

4. Trying an external monitor - which looked perfect over HDMI.

5. Updating the drivers - display drivers and BIOS all updated, so Dell System Detect now says no updates for the system.

Having read various other posts describing similar problems, I think the problem is with the laptop display or connections, and would appreciate your advice. The computer is still under warranty.

I just got a Dell Inspiron 17R 5720, and I haven't found a description anywhere of the Function keys.  I want a list of the functions with the Fn key pressed and without.  Also do the Ctrl, Alt, Windows key or Shift keys affect the performance of the Function keys?  Thanks for any info you supply.

Because the laptops display was broken i chose to remove it today, which the laptop horribly dislikes, i'd like to know how i can disable it, i have an external display right now which is prefer and actually works.

Im aware of the cmos battery method buti hope that maybe theres some way of doing it without taking the entire laptop apart again because im still somewhat afraid of breaking it.

Hi guys

I have a dell studio 1747, unluckily it's not under guarantee anymore but still.

I want to factor restore my laptop but it doesnt work in a single way. I tried using dell save backup program but it doesnt work anymore, seems like it is corrupt. I also tried reinstalling the dell save backup from the download on the website but that doesnt work also. I can't uninstall the first version (probably because it is corrupt). I don't know how it became corrupt because I never deleted anything.

My last option was creating a bootable usb (bootable cd doesnt work because my cd-reader on  my laptop is broken also :/ ). This doesnt work either. I can't seem to download the dutch windows iso from the microsoft page because my windows serial number is from a version that came installed on my laptop, so I have no access to the iso-files and I also dont find any dutch iso on the web.

This really bugs me. I really need to reset my laptop back to the beginning but it is in no way possible. Please help me.
