Ok - I decided to go ahead with a fresh installation of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I had been unsuccessful with the recovery disk generation and decided to proceed with a fresh installation from an OEM version.
Three days later, I am down to one infuriating yellow bang in device manager = Broadcom USH!
I've tried very hard to find the driver to resolve this to no avail....anyone out there able to help?

I picked up a E6420 from a guy and it's in very good condition. I decided to upgrade the RAM to 8gb and put in a 120gb SSD.
Memory works fine,but I can't get the Samsung Evo 850 SSD to boot from AHCI. I have read solutions for Windows 7,but nothing for WIndows 8. If I go into the Bios and select the default of Raid,then it boots up fine. Samsung Magician also notices this when I load up the program.

I re-install my Windows to solve this problem but it happened again.
One of the USB 3.0 hubs gives that error.

My xps 15 will not recognize mt SDHC card in the internal reader. Tried looking in Disk Manager and it is not showing up there either. Any suggestions? Fairly urgent i get this figured out.

You can clearly see that my fingers move about 3/4 of an inch before the screen starts scrolling. I have the latest touchpad firmware installed (9343_Firmware_T792T_WN32_18.1.48_A00.EXE). I have tried changing the taps delay and turning it off completely.
Can we please have a Synaptics touchpad driver for the people that are unhappy with the Microsoft Precision touchpad driver? Not everybody buys the touchscreen version of this laptop and does not need the features it brings.
Hello. I bought my Dell Inspiron 15 3531 about a year ago. Everything was running smooth untill it suddenly died and refused to power on. My warranty is still on(ends on march 2016) but I am living in Brazil right now. How do I contact dell customer support? Does my warranty still applies in my country?
(About the issue: It simply doesn't power on. I connect the cable to a wall socket and the green led lights up, but when I plug the cord to the laptop, the green led turns off. I tried removing the battery and press the power button, nothing happens either.)
So I am currently trying to fix a Dell Inspiron N5040 for a friend, and so far with the tests I've done with it, it will not post at all. It does not output to the laptop display, nor does it output to an external display which I am 100% sure is working, as I just tested it with another PC. When booted on, the LEDs work fine and light up white (at least the ones that are supposed to come on with the computer) and the laptop also gives me one beep--I looked this up and apparently it means BIOS ROM Checksum in process or failure (so a definite fail to post at all). I did a little more reading and this could be a few more issues, such as with the motherboard or processor. However, I would like to take a crack at the BIOS first just in case, especially since it would be the simplest thing to do. I have the service tag so I can easily access drivers and whatnot online, however, the BIOS file for the laptop is a Windows executable file, and I do not want to accidentally corrupt my own (UEFI) BIOS by running it. If anyone knows if it is safe to open, or has any other suggestions for fixes and whatnot I would love to hear. Thanks!
I have a 19 inch Dell labtop and when I press the power button it beeps four times the disc tray pops open then it powers off. And it has a black screen the whole time ! Help, please

Ok, so I had purchased a brand new Alienware 17 r2 (early 2015 release). After countless hours trying different cables and being on the phone with Alienware/Dell support, I was told my new gaming laptop does not output to an external monitor(that supports 144hz/ASUS VG248QE) at 120hz refresh rate? I was so turned off by the support and vague answers I was getting, I asked for a return shipping label.
My questions are:
Does DELL manufacture any laptop that outputs 120hz or greater? If so, which models?
If not, maybe I'm searching for the wrong thing because I cant seem to find anything on the internet that shows me a list of either laptops or laptop GPU's that support 120hz or greater. If not, which gaming laptop manufacture's do?
Look, I loved my AW 17r2. I thought it was well built, felt solid, and all the lights were pretty neat. But not supporting an output of 120hz or greater on a $1500 gaming laptop is a deal breaker to me. With that being said, why even put a mini display port or a HDMI if it doesn't support high refresh rate?
The thing is, Im ASUS fan by heart, but decided to give Alienware/Dell a chance because of the horrid support through ASUS after my G75VX just stopped working all of a sudden.
What I am ulimately looking for is a gaming laptop built similar to my old ASUS G75VX. I CANNOT STAND this new integrated GPU/Dedicated GPU to save battery. I dont care about battery life since this will be my LAN machine. I really want a laptop with out an integrated GPU and can output 120hz refresh rate at 1920x1080. I have tested a HP, 2 Alienware's and ASUS G750jw laptops, and all seemed to have that new integrated(Hybrid)GPU garbage. I would really like to find one with win 7 64bit, but thats not a deal breaker. If I could find one with the new hybrid GPU's and outputs 120hz, I will even take that.
Is it me or is that new hybrid GPU's just wont do 120hz because of the integrated card?
Hello everyone, I hope you can help me with some issues I am having with this laptop.
1.) Windows update - did them all, except one KB3000850. I just gives me error. I tried some steps of resolving it with some other updates on Microsoft.com but no luck.
2.) This is supposed to be a touch screen. First I was told you need to register, you need to activate windows, you need to update your system. I did all of that and still no luck. And the worst part is that in Touch and Pen Devices it says not supported. What gives? Was I sold a non touch display? (even though on the box and on the laptop it says "touch display")
3.) Problem in Device manager. It is constantly looking for something, because it collapses and expands. The problem is under USB controllers - Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)
I love my laptop, from the way it looks to the way it feels, however this issues are something I would like to clear. Please help in any way you can.

I've just bought new Dell XPS 13 (9343) Ultrabook, Windows 8.1 (64-bit).
Everything is fine, but the touchpad double tap function is not working....
How can I enable it? I got used to it, when browsing, as it works like the middle button of a usual mouse, allowing open links in new tabs and also closing them without pressing Ctrl+click.
When I try to search and update drivers through the "Product Support" page, it doesn't find any updates for mouse/touchpad.
Currently, in the Control panel and Device manager there are two drivers:
- HID-compliant mouse and
- PS/2 Compatible mouse
Both seem updated and working properly.... And no special settings in the mouse page.

On the Dell and Best Buy site it says that the processor speed of this laptop, which is an inspiron 15 7000 series, specifically 7548, is "up to 3.0 GHz with Turbo Boost Tech". It also says it in the specs that it is just 3.0 GHz without the turbo part. I want to know what is the raw processor speed without the turbo boost, or if 3.0 is the normal speed. thank you guys.
SD card reader for my Inspiron 660 (Early 2012) Service Tag: 4G7HBY1 | is not working properly. Will read a micro sd but not a standard card. I can read the card through the usb port using a camera.

I have Dell Studio 1555 model. When I was clicked right click of touchpad at the time of using command prompt and some Java IDE, it shut down immediately. Nothing is working in laptop, not even Power button. I tried to start laptop by pressing power button for long time, removing battery,AC adapter, trying different adapter but nothing worked for me.
I am sure that it's not a heat issue.
Is that any way that I can start my laptop or somebody please guide me the steps to be followed.
Hi folks. Im kinda new here hoping someone can give me suggestions on what to do.
I have an Inspiron 11 3000 series 3137 Laptop Win8. So it all started when my laptop is unable to load the OS. I tried tweaking the BIOS. I disabled secureboot and chose load legacy. After restarting, the problem got worse. It gets stuck in the dell screen. I cannot press f2,f12 or anything. Its frozen at that point. Here are the steps ive done so far:
1. Draining flea power of the laptop
2. Removing CMOS battery, draining flea power. (I think this laptop doesnt have a jumper)
3. Removed HDD, draining flea power.
These steps did not work for me. Any other ideas/suggestions? Again, f2 and f12 doesnt work, nor any keys.
I think this is not a motherboard problem since this just started happening after disabled secureboot.

I am still in the process of getting started with my new machine. I was getting acquainted with the "My Dell" apps (tools) which I found by "searching". A smaller Dell update window also came up (I forget for what). Then the cursor stopped working and a blue screen auto shut down occurred mentioning something about a Driver_Power_State_Failure? This happened twice. But currently the machine seems to be OK but "My Dell" apps have disappeared and is no where to be found? Any help will be appreciated.
I have an Inspiron 3521, touchscreen version.
Anyway, I ended up finding an entire screen assembly to replace the cracked one (see my digression number 2 below), and the replacement screen is fine.
However, as I disassembled and later reassembled, the very top left screw (while laptop is facing down) wasn't there. Furthermore, on reassembly, screws would not stay in that particular hole, there were no threads to screw into. Additionally, the left of the two screws under the battery cover was stripped, unscrewing it did no good, the screw turned, but wouldn't come out. Someone at the factory was drinking when this laptop got assembled.
Anyway, has anyone else had this issue, with bad screws? I'm a little worried about the leftmost screw, since it's at a corner.

this has been going on for a month now and is increasingly getting worse.
The problem
The screen freezes, mouse won't move and the laptop will take no keyboard input. Only way to turn it off is to hold the power button.
When I try to restart:
At first nothing will happen when I try to turn it on
Then it will turn on but immediately turn off
Sometimes it will turn, I can hear the fans but the screen does not display anything and nothing happens.
On two occassions I have had a 'three beep' error
Eventually it'll turn on, run for a while
Sometimes for hours, sometimes it will repeatedly freeze up
Including during BIOS diagnostics tests or start up/loading screens
Diagnostics show no issues, I did have the hard drive replaced and made sure I have latest BiOS
I'm running temp diagnostics now,
the last time my laptop froze the highest measured temperature was for the mainboard which hit 74 degrees celcius, which doesn't seem overly high
Any advise would be much appreciated :)
