I have a Dell Vostro laptop 1700 running Vista 32bit... lately I have had trouble with the media player (I think it is #11) and it came in Vista according to what I have read. My first attempt to fix it was to do a restore but that has caused it not to open at all. * So my next attempt and question is = can one of these re-install disks fix the player without wiping everything gone (all my files, etc.). Does anyone know about this for certain??? Thanks in advance.

Adding mSATA drive to the mPCI-E WWAN/TV port, XPS 15 L502X?
Hello,
I noticed that next to the WiFi card there's a free mini PCI-E slot labeled WWAN/TV.
I wanted to know if it would be possible to connect an mSATA drive to that port for extra storage?
From what I read online there's no SATA controller connected to the slot, but some people say there are some mSATA drives with onboard controllers.
However the only person I could find who had tried it said it was not recognized in the BIOS.
The latest post about this topic is from 2012, and I was wondering if anyone have come up with ways to make this slot useful, and if there are new solutions around that were not available in 2012?

Dell inspiron m5030 please help 7 beeps screen won't come on at all
A week ago I was on the laptop using it like normal and I walked away so the screen went black when I came back and tried To turn it back on and all It did was beep 7 x over and over until I hit the power off button. I bought a new battery Bc it was telling me it was time To replace it. Idk what To do.

Lost drivers when downgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7
I recently purchased a new Latitude M7318 for use in my business. I absolutely HATE Windows 8 so I purchased a new Win 7 Pro disc w/ license and installed it. In doing so I lost many of my drivers (including my wireless card)
I have tried to download the drivers for my machine and install them but they are not compatible with Win 7. Geek Squad told me to just reinstall Win 8 because Dell will not allow my laptop to be downgraded. I have a hard time believing that. (If that is true then Dell just lost a 15 year customer)
Does anyone know where I can find the Windows 7 drivers that would be compatible with my M7318 or some kind of work around?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

XPS 13 2015 keyboard illumination problem
My xps 13 (9343) the backlight button doesn't turn on the backlight. When I press Windows Key + X and bring up Mobility Center there is no backlight option. Any help would be much appreciated.

Dell Model P41F Touchpad "Delay" Problem
Hello, I'm having a major usability issue with my new Dell laptop I purchased yesterday. I revisited Best Buy this evening to see if they had a solution to the problem and also to test the other laptops on display to see if it was a defect specific to my unit. It appears that all of the Dell laptops on display at Best buy (as well as Toshiba's) seem to have this very same issue. Whenever I lift my finger off of the touchpad and place it back down onto the touchpad I have to move my finger approximately 3/8" or more before the cursor moves. I can swipe my finger back and forth 3/8" and no movement will occur. It seems to affect the upward movement of the cursor the worse but all motions are affected in some way. Once my finger is on the touchpad movement is mostly normal but at times is glitchy and inaccurate. I've changed _all_ settings within control panel (mouse) and windows 8 "PC Settings" to no avail. The unit I purchased is a QHD display model and the touchpad is nearly useless for the fine movements required at 3840x2160. Text editing is especially difficult!

Tap Delay set to "No Delay"
Enable Swiping In From Edge Set to Off
Double Tap and Drag Set to Off
Please help! I absolutely love everything else about this laptop and I'm sure there are other out there with this same issue!.
P.S. When a USB mouse is plugged in has no delay.
P.S.S. I also have a separate, unrelated trackpad issue, there are no settings anywhere to disable two finger gestures. This makes it impossible to rest my thumb on the left "button" while my forefinger does the movement.

While updating BIOS it says "ROM version should be newer than BIOS version" on inspiron n4030
I am using a Dell Inspiron n4030 pc. I had problems with the charging. The battery sometimes charges and sometimes not with the same charging cable. To resolve the issue I tried to update the BIOS using FreeDOS bootable USB. I downloaded the new BIOS file from dell.com and then tried updating but it shows error "ROM version should be newer than BIOS version." Any help on this issue would be appreciated.
P.s. I am using Ubuntu 14.04 on my pc.

Del Inspiron7537 - Del Backup & Recovery and Partition Problems
My Dell laptop is running Windows 8.1 x64 with UEFI boot. I've been having problems with the Dell Backup & Recovery Utility showing an error due to a corrupted recovery partition. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program but this results in additional partitions being created on the hard drive! I now have 10 partitions on the hard drive ( mostly small) - see the enclosed DISKPART and Paragon Backup reports
Is there a way of reconfiguring the partitions on the hard drive to the configuration of a standard Dell Windows 8 installation without having to wipe the disk and reinstall everything? I have Paragon Partition Manager and Paragon Backup in addition to using the Microsoft utilities (DISKPART). Note the laptop operates normally despite the extra partitions.

Dell inspiron power issue
Hi,
I got a Dell inspiron N4110 laptop and it is not turning on , When I press the power button in it, nothing happens (My battery was fully charged). When I plug the charger to the laptop, the charger indicator light is getting off. Charging LED also not indicated in the laptop. Nothing happens in the laptop (No indications - No LED is getting ON)
Please help me regarding this.

Inspiron 15z Intel Rapid Start Technology Issues
Hi,
I have a Inspiron 15z laptop which I cannot reinstall Intel Rapid Start Technology on, I'll explain briefly what happened:
- I started my laptop and it hung on a single colour windows 8 screen - I read online that this is due to RST so turned this off in BIOS, booted to Windows succesfully, shut down again and enabled RST in BIOS
- Since then, I received a warning saying 'your system does not appear to have intel rapid start technology enabled' so I uninstalled the program from control panel
- I've downloaded and re-installed the driver but whenever I re-install the program it fails saying I don't meet the system specs. The log has a line saying '! Didn't find any INF's that match active hardware'
I've checked RST is still enabled in BIOS and that SATA mode is set to RST too. I have a 8GB C400 RealSSD which I presume RST uses but there are no partitions on the disk, is this normal?
Could someone advise on how to re-install Intel RST please?

Beep sound(5 count) on startup
Hi,
My laptop is a Dell Insipron 15z touch ultrabook and it is beeping during the startup everytime. This happens even when i hibernate and then re-login. It beeps in a count of 5 times each and it continues forever until i restart it again.
On running diagnostics i found the below error code:
error code : 2000 0142
validation 87359
Please let me know what the problem is.

USB problems with new Inspiron 7000 serues
I am really disappointed with this new computer. I notice the whole series appears to be no longer for sale in the website. I hope that does not mean Dell is abandoning it. If they are, they should let us opt out, too.
I have the usual touchpad problems with this model, but have had a much worse problem with my USB ports, which are anything but universal.
I have two printers that i plug in (for different purposes), and I now have tape next to the keyboard where I keep notes on what devices I can successfully plug into each of the 3 USB ports. The U in USB means they should all work. I had past problems with the printers first being labeled as offline, then later called not connected.
The printers, which are a bit old but still supported by HP, work fine on all the other computers I've tested them on. I tried to uninstall/install printers earlier, but ended up with corrupted drivers, with pieces of, say, copy 5 and copy 6, which could not be removed.
I have restored to previous points (works for a bit), and have even, upon Dell's suggestion, reinstalled Windows. I am managing by plugging the printers and other devices (always turned off before removing) into specific NUSB (non-universal ports).
I have spent over a hundred hours trying to solve the various problems, and have had to buy extra external drives for the backups. Tech support kept trying to blame it on, say, the printer cables, which work with other computers, including old Dells.
So what is going on with the 7000 series, and what is Dell doing about it, in the short term and in the long term? Anybody out there know?

Small video controls in Firefox for Youtube and other flash video
Hey, I dont know if this is a normal issue but with Firefox the video controls for youtube and other players are extremely tiny and difficult to see. I believe this is a scaling issue but it does not occur in Chrome or IE. Does anyone know a fix for this issue?

Blank screen before start up and after shut down
Hi,
im facing an uncertain problem and have tried solutions after solutions, sad to say none worked. here are the symptoms:-
- blank screen for about 30 secs to 1 min before the dell logo shows up
- blank screen roughly 30 secs after the windows shut down
- laptop refuse to sleep (or prolly i gave up waiting for it to go to sleep) *blank screen
- laptop took some time to hibernate *blank screen
- power button is still lighted up during blank screen
- fan is still spinning during blank screen
- the three light indicators, power light is on during blank screen, hdd shows a bit of activity when power up during blank screen but after awhile there's no activity *dell logo hasnt load yet.
- funnily the laptop is very usable after it boots up, no signs of graphic failure or slowing down. all seems perfect except for the blank screen before booting up and after shutting down which is frustrating.
please help as it tend to get really frustrating just to use the laptop and i use it alot for my projects. will appreciate every effort!
P.S. im desperate :|
