Laptop making whistling (buzzing) sound!

I bought a new or supposed to be new laptop dell inspiron 5457 model yesterday. Now when i plugged in my earphones it is making buzzing noise from speakers and my earphones are not working on it. I checked my earphones on other devices and they are working fine with them.

Suposed to be a new laptop because the DELL guy gave me a display model by repackaging and I figured this out when i unboxed this model after bringing it home. I am sure he gave me the same demo model because from past two days i was in contact with him at his shop and use to check the demo model thouroughly and found out same BOTTOM FAN GRILL DIRT on my laptop at same place.

When I was taking the delivery I enquired about the demo model which was not present there and when i asked him he politely told that he has sent back the model to company, while other models were at the same positions. He was constantly saying me that all the demo models keep on changing . So they put new models.

Now this buzzing sound is problem, no headphones are working and i want a complete replacement of my product

Hi, I have had an issue with my USB port for a couple of months now. I have a Dell Precision M4500, intel Core i7, Windows 7 64-bit. When I start my laptop and connect my Lacie external harddrive it takes approx 20-30 mins until it is recognized. Do I need an update or repair?

I am too reliant on my laptop to send it for repair so I want to try to solve issue after issue.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best,

Latitude E7440 Shuts off when bumped or jarred

We have a Latitude E7440 that will shut off when it's bumped or jarred. It's usually plugged into an E dock but when the user undocks it and takes it with them they treat it like a bomb because if he bumps it slightly the system goes completely dead. You can reboot it but your again faced with this bump issue.

We have replaced the battery and that has not fixed the issue. I have looked through the support forums but haven't found any similar issues. Does anyone know what's going on?

This is the strangest hardware problem I have ever encountered. How do I fix it?

About 6 months ago, my dell inspiron 15r 5521 stopped working in a devastating way; my keyboard stopped working. At first, I thought that the keyboard was just broken, which was an obvious answer, as some keys didn't work. I eventually phoned dell to ask them to get myself a new keyboard. I had to wait about a month, but I eventually got the keyboard. When I replaced the keyboard, I noticed something unusual -- the same keys didn't work. There's no way it is a coincidence, as it must be something that has to do with the motherboard. I believe that it is part of the connector that isn't working, but that would not make sense; how would some of the pins not work? Does anyone have any idea on what else it could be, and whether I could get it fixed or not?

By the way, I updated all my drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled my drivers, rollbacked my drivers, and even went to ubuntu after my absolutely *** hard drive failed (but I managed to fix that with some commands as the problem was a logical error). To sum it up, it's not software that's the issue. Thanks for the support!

Latitude E5500 is slow on phpBB forum

My system at work is a Dell Latitude E5500 (laptop) with Win XP. It has performed well on everything we do with any of our computers here. I have never encountered what I thought was a speed degradation or poor performance on the E5500. We have 11 of these E5500's. We have 8 desktops Optiplex 360 to new 3020's.

I have recently encountered a forum "readynas.com/forum" that accessing with the Latitude E5500's is extremely slow averaging 30 seconds while selecting or changing threads, posting or even just logging in. I get the same results using any of the Latitude's. The desktop Optiplex's with Win 7 however get excellent responsiveness. I tried a couple of our older Optiplex 170 & 320's also having Win XP and they performed equally as well. Each system I tested with both Internet Explorer and Firefox with little difference between the two.

Excuse the long description, but I am at a loss. The Latitudes are updated with drivers, etc. It doesn't matter the operating system or browser. It is something in or on the Latitudes that is causing this poor performance. I have posted similar request for help with this on readynas forum. I will point out that this particular forum is based on phpBB.

I hope someone can give me some clues to resolve this.

Windows 8 Dell Inspirion 7720: Windows update causing Audio/Video stutter & buzz + overall freezing

I've had this laptop for 1.5 years, whenever I update the computer will stutter. First noticed this because all videos will buzz and stutter. I noticed my entire computer will temporally freeze at the 1 sec buzz. I have updated all video and audio drivers, and have done virus and malware scans with AVG and malwarebyte. The problem began a day after i updated my Bios.

Temporary solution: Whenever I use a system restore to before the update, the problems are gone, or atleast not noticeable. However my computer keeps trying to updating after i shutdown.

Any suggestions on how to find the problem?

Inspiron 7548 Noise Issue

Hello there,

I just received my Dell Inspiron 7548 laptop and I'm just getting frustrated with screeching/scratching sounds that are coming from it.

Let me explain the issue in detail. As soon as I connect the charger to the laptop, there is this high-pitched screeching/scratching noise that starts emanating from under the laptop (under the screen). The laptop becomes totally silent as soon as I disconnect the charger. I've done the test more than two dozen times and the noise appears only when the charger is connected (and the battery is charged around 90%).

This problem seems very similar to the noise issues that were reported with XPS 15 9530 last year:

Any others facing the same issue? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Dell Inspiron 1545 Battery Replacement

Hi,

My Inspiron 1545 needs a new battery as it will no longer charge and only runs off AC power.

I cannot find any new batteries for this model on the Dell website, so is there anyone that can point me in the direction of somewhere that sells (preferably genuine) replacement batteries? Or failing the genuine part, anywhere that sells high quality replacements?

Also, they must be able to deliver to the UK.

Many thanks,

Alex.

Inspiron 17 7737 Freezing

Hello,

Back in June of 2014 I bought a refurbished Dell Inspirion 7737 from Best Buy.  Ever since I've purchased it, there has been a problem that occurs at seemingly random times.  The picture attached shows what the screen looks like when it happens.  When it happens, you can't do anything on the computer.  You have to hold the power button to restart the computer.  The problem seems to happen at random times when I am using the laptop alone, but it happens when I am connected to a second monitor and I have a lot of CPU usage.  It also happens a lot more often when it is just the laptop without a second monitor.  I was wondering if anyone knows what this problem is and roughly how much it would cost to fix?  Thanks!

Serious issue with brand new XPS 15

Dell, please can you tell me what is wrong with this computer?

Today the technician came out to replace the motherboard in my Dell XPS 15 which had crashed irrecoverably during a BIOS update which was sent by your customer service team and installed on their recommendation.

After the crash, the computer would no longer turn on and it was concluded that it needed a new motherboard. I now have a "working" laptop which has the same issue as before, only this time it now runs much hotter so the cooling fan is always on which kills one of the nicest things about this laptop which is that it is silent and therefore beautiful to work on. Not good for a €1700 laptop which when it works is amazing.

Please see this video as explanation of the fault and help me deal with it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UKAVHNw8y8

I am based in France, so unfortunately have to deal with your customer service in French, and had to buy a French keyboard as well which is silly seeing as it came from a factory in Belgium where I am sure you could have got me a Swiss one.

I bought a new Dell based on a faultless 4 years with my last one, this one however has been an utter disappointment so far.

Alienware m17x R4 fan speed issue

Hello. Just recently my Alienware m17x R4 has started randomly kicking on the fan speed to full blast. I downloaded speedfan to see if things were getting too hot, but everything is under 45, sometimes up to 50-55 when I'm multitasking. I cannot distinguish a single point or reason in which the fan turns on. A week or so ago it started doing this, and it would turn on full blast, then stop after a bit. Sometimes, I had to reboot the machine to get it to turn off. Up until today, it's only done this every once in a while. Today, however, the fans kick on full blast within minutes of me booting up my machine, and do not turn off. I try to reboot, same thing happens. I tried updating my BIOS but no dice. Please help! Let me know if you need anymore info. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

EDIT: Just remembered some other things that might be important. I do have a laptop cooler that my laptop always sits on, and even if the fan in the laptop cooler is going full blast, the fans in my computer remain full speed.

Something interesting that also happens, is when the fans are about to kick in full speed, my computer will freeze for a moment, and I usually have music playing, so when this happens, the music suddenly stutters and makes a loud buzzing sound. This is only for a second or so, but it has been known to happen a couple or so times in a row, then the fan proceeds to kick on.
