Dell XPS 15 l502x - touchpad button.

Hello!

I've owned my XPS for a year now. I've recently spilled soda on my touchpad. Fortunately, the system works fine but the left touchpad button is all sticky and i can barely press it. My question is: Am I able to pop out the button just like any keyboard key in order to clean it up?

Thanks for the help!

Cellphone interference...?

Hey there, good afternoon guys.

My notebook doesn't seem to have any problems right now, but I want to ask something in order to keep it that way. Here's the background:

My previous notebook (not a Dell) had an awful problem after something like 3 years of use or so. The screen went really really dark all of a sudden. If you pointed some light at the screen, you could still see everything there, but it was way too dark for me to use it normally. At first, it would be fine depending on the angle I would open the notebook, but it kept getting worse until it got permanently like that. I had to plug in a separate LCD screen in order to continue using that notebook, since no one figured out what was wrong with it.

Now, I have a Vostro 3550, and I noticed that the same phenomenon occurs if the back my cellphone happens to touch the area just to the right of the touchpad. The screen goes extremely dark, and reverts back to normal when I take the cellphone away. It happens whether the phone is turned on or off, but only if it's the back of the phone that touches that specific area of the computer. This is the first time, though. I found this out by accident today, it's not like I leave my cellphone there all the time or anything.

So what I want to know is: is it okay to have the notebook and the cellphone relatively close to each other (in the same desk, for example) or does it cause some long-term damage? Do you know which component is affected by this? I'm really worried now, because of my previous notebook. The cell phone is a Nokia X2-00, by the way.

Can someone please shed some light on this?

XPS 12 Touch Keyboard

I'm having a very annoying problem with my new XPS 12.  When used as a tablet, the touchscreen keyboard will not stay up.  It randomly disappears as I am typing.  Sometimes it seems to play a game of cat and mouse with me, where it will stay up just long enough for me to try to type with it, then it will go away before I can get a letter in.  I have played with it a lot, and I am not touching any other part of the screen.  When the computer is open as a laptop, and I pull up the touch keyboard, there is no problem at all.  However, as soon as I turn it to a tablet, it will again randomly disappear so I can no longer type.  I have updated all drivers and re-installed Windows 8, and the problem persists.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DPC latency issues (Dell Inspiron N7110)

I've been having problems with DPC latency since December, and I can't get them to go away. I have been to many different websites and tried many suggestions, but the problem hasn't been fixed. I even did a factory restore, but it didn't work. I've had this computer since October 2011. Does anyone know how to fix it?

EDIT: I ran LatencyMon for two minutes, and these are the results:

MEASURED INTERRUPT TO USER PROCESS LATENCIES
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The interrupt to process latency reflects the measured interval that a usermode process needed to respond to a hardware request from the moment the interrupt service routine started execution. This includes the scheduling and execution of a DPC routine, the signaling of an event and the waking up of a usermode thread from an idle wait state in response to that event.

Dell Latitude D800 will not power on.

I have a Dell Latitude D800 that will not power on. When the power button is pushed the green power indicator light comes on, the CDROM spins for a moment, but then nothing happens, there is no BIOS information displayed, no power on self test, no Dell logo. It just sits there with the green power light on.

I have tried removing the power & battery then pressing the power button for 10 seconds (actually, I have tried as long as 60 seconds). I have tried to turn on with the power connected but not the battery. I have tried removing the connector cable for the power button and the connector cable for the display and then reseating them.

Any advice about how to get the computer to turn on would be greatly appreciated.

Won't boot. Cap Num Scroll Lock on.

Hi,

I Have an Inspiron 1520, 2gb ram, 8400M GS

I installed a webcam driver and tried to reboot.
Num-lock Scroll-Lock Caps-Lock on not flashing. No beeps. No dell logo. After 5 secs, it restarts. I don't have a battery. The power indicator is on. My AC adapter light is also on.

What I've tried so far:
Removed both 512 ram 1 at a time and still the same results. Tried other ram.
Unplugged and plugged back in the CMOS battery.
The battery works on another laptop.
Removed WLan card.

So does this confirm that the mobo is indeed dead?

Hi,

What is the default Administrator user name and password? It looks like I have a problem with one of my boot sectors and I have used NeoSoft's recovery DVD to try and get some operating system up and running. However when I boot I get as far as the log in screen and the system asks for Other User. It makes no difference what I type in it then tells me "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted." I need to get passed this so that I can log in and then restore my backups. It is a Studio 15555 running Windows Vista. Any advice

Thanks in advance,

Well i went and downloaded the drivers from Dell first.they went into a folder on my system of course named drivers.Arent they automatically installed.I also run Zonealarm antivirus and firewall.now the one driver program i used said i had 24 used it and it seems as though they came back the next day on the list. Its called Slimdriver its  a freeware program, has great reviews.it did most of the work, but a few seem to repeat, never have used the second program and probably won't.

i need to find out how to download for a Dell Inspiron 1720 the Bluetooth Periph. Driver., wont install.it say to put a disk in that you got with the system ,did that, didnt do anything.when i started up my computer it also wanted to download it like 5 times,i had to keep hitting delete till the driver downloader stopped, then i went into control panel and removed them from the device manager, the device manager looks great now,no yellow error codes or anything that shouldnt be there.anyone have this driver where i can download it from,i went to Dell drivers put in inspiron1720 and windows 32-bit and didnt see it unless i missed it.well thank you

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 15R SE 7520, the windows experience index is 5.9.  I purchased this laptop for it's performance, but this "WEI" seems awful low to me compared to my netbook running win 7 pro and only 1 meg of ram.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

Just now I open  an account in dell website.  I am very happy to open the account, I hope it will help me too much to solve many of my problems. It is mentionable that during sign up my account I did not find my country name, Bangladesh. I would be more happy if you  enlisted my country name there.

Laptop - Inspiron 7520 running windows 8 x64

The wireless continuously randomly disconnects - and has to be reset to re-enable connectivity.

In examining the Dell Support Center App - System History ... I see numerous critical events ... indicating the following:

Application Error

Problem signature:

P1: WLANExt.exe

I have downloaded all the latest drivers for everything ... but I cannot stop it from disconnecting on a random basis. I have two other computers on the same network - Windows 7 and Vista - neither has the problem - ever!

Any assistance to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi,

I have installed Ubuntu 12.10 in my Laptop alongside Windows 7.

I have a problem with the fan while in Ubuntu.

The fan is always on at full throttle, which leads to Laptop becoming very hot from bottom & also near the fan on left side.

I have also noticed that it sucks huge amount of electricity because the AC Adaptor becomes extremely hot.

The Dell Drivers doesnt list drivers for Ubuntu.

How do I install drivers for the same?

Thank You.
