Anyone knows how to go back to the original system (or application) setting of XPS 13 Ultrabook? I deleted a number of applications Dell put on when I purchased XPS Ultrabook, but now I want to use several of them. Is there any easy way to go back to the original system setting with having all applications Dell put on? I don't think any CD was enclosed in the box.

Create ISO from USB Restore Disk?
Anyone know how to create an ISO disc from a USB restore disc?
When I created a restore set of discs for the laptop, I created a USB disc instead of DVDs. Now I'm trying to see if anyone knows how to take it from a USB and make an ISO file so that I can put it on an external HDD for extra safe keeping.

Disable Trackpad?
So I've done everything, messed with the FN+F3 key to turn off the trackpad but nothing works. I use an external USB mouse and I can't stand it when I'm typing and my hands hit the touchpad erasing things, moving things, or whatever.
Any ideas?
**PS... Yes, I do have the latest software for the touchpad installed.

I just restored my N5030 Inspiron and it works until I restart then it crashes with a Status 0xc000000e and I can not get any further. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

15R SE - RAM & HDD Upgrade Qs
Hi,
There are a few contradictory posts around here on how much RAM is supported by the 15R SE, some saying 8BG some 16GB(with the loss of some intel technologies). Can anyone please tell me how much the laptop supports?
The laptop initially came with a 750 GB HDD that seems to the bottle neck in performance with 100% disk use on boot up/AV scan become an all to frequent frustration. Again there are some contradictions on whether or not the laptop has space for a second 2.5'' SSD drive to help boost performance, can anyone clear this up also?

Processor Swap- Inspiron N5110
Hello all,
I recently got an Inspiron N5110 as a gift. I had asked for an i5 or an i7 processor, but instead I got an i3-2330M CPU @ 2.20 GHz.. I was wondering if I would be able to replace the i3 with an i5 or an i7, and if so, what, if any, other changes I would have to make to my computer, such as RAM, etc. I will post the information below, and if any more information is necessary, then please request it.

usb issue
so today i just got my laptop from purolator and when and if i accidently try and put my usb device in upside down it seems to turn off my computer hard power off?
any solutions or any idea as to what is wrong ect?
its odd and ive never seen it hapen in my 5 years of wroking with laptops and advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated :)

network adapter issue
My Inspiron 7720 has recurring problems with loss of internet connection thru wifi in my house. It only happens on this computer so it is not a problem with my router.
My network adaptor seems to need resetting/restarting a few times a day.
Really annoying for a brand new computer.

XPS 15 - error code 0146 - replace hard drive but how do you reinstall windows 7 without the disks
Hello everyone,
My one and half year old XPS 15 notebook just stopped working. It fails to boot to WIndows and just gives a error reading disk error. When I use the diagnostic program during initial boot up it gives me an error code 0146. I think I need to replace the hard drive but how do you reinstall windows 7 without the disks. And obviously i never created any system recovery media, and have lost the hidden partition on the hard drive. So what do I do? Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Inspiron 1121 Continuously Beeps on Startup
When turning on the computer, I press the start button and I get the black screen with the words "Starting Windows" in the middle of the screen. As soon as the "Starting Windows" appears, the computer begins to beep continuously with short but fast-paced beeps. The beeping continues until the colored Windows Logo appears above the white words "Starting Windows" and then the beeping stops. The computer completes its start up and seems to operate normally. I did not time the beeping but I counted about 270 beeps. None of the keyboard keys seem to be stuck. I did remove and replace the battery which seemed to fix the problem on the very next start-up but when I shut the computer down and started it up the second time the beeping problem returned. Help Please.

Dell OEM AC Adapters vs Universal AC Adapters: How/Why they work or, Not...
My question is a simple one. And, the answer may be just as simple when explained. However, I have yet to even see the question asked.
First, I understand that Dell incorporates the use a Dallas chipset (DS2501, UniqueWareTM Add Only Memory) into their AC adapters and, laptops. And, that these chips communicate utilizing the "1-wire" center pin on the connector/cable between them. I understand this to be the mechanism that the laptop uses to determine if the adapter is what it believes it should be (PSID- PowerSourceID...?). It has also been cited that, due to the "1-wire"acting as an antenna, these chips are highly susceptible and, prone to damage from ESD. The chips being the greater concern in the chain.
I also understand that if any of the components (chips, cable or, connector) in that chain should fail, then the adapter ceases to charge the battery and, yet, will still allow the use of the computer while plugged into an AC outlet.
And now, finally, my actual question:
How/why does a 'universal' charger work in place of the OEM? The cable/adapter tips only have two (2) points of connection. They obviously do not utilize the "1-wire" center lead at all. And, yet...the laptop will see it for what it is, use it to power the system AND, charge the battery.
I've not experimented with this but, I believe because a 2-lead connection is all that is being made when using a universal adapter that, possibly the only reason for receiving error messages is BECAUSE there is still some connection being made between these possibly bad chips? And, if removed,could possibly "fix" this problem?
On a side-note: Maybe someone can help me to understand the following: Recently, while diagnosing this very problem on a Dell belonging to a friend of mine, I had the occasion to use MY PA-10 AC adapter on HIS machine. IT DID NOT WORK. The same messages were received. And, I know for FACT, that charger was working less than 30 minutes prior. It was then that I began to worry. Not for his LAPTOP but, for MY ADAPTER. I immediately plugged it back into my machine and lo and behold...NOTHING.
It killed my adapter? Anything IS possible, I guess. HOWEVER, days after returning the laptop with no other suggestion other than to purchase another adapter, I find out he had plugged in HIS adapter and, is now charging said laptop with the suspect adapter.
I, on the other hand, have never been able to make MY adapter work again on MY laptop. And, knowing what I know about this whole AC adapter Scam (for lack of a better term), I opted to purchase a third-party universal adapter. Which, I am happy to say, is working well so far.
Anyone with relevant technical knowledge specific to this question...?

Dell Inspiron N5040
This laptop shuts down randomly. I did check the fan and clean it to make sure it is not over heat. I also ran dianogsis test and found no problem.
This just happens one week ago. Any idea how I can fix this. It could be hardware problem, I thought because I did scan the virus and get virus free.

USB Ports and Chipset software Inspiron 15R N5110
My USB Ports arent working properly and, after running Hardware diagnostics and finding nothing wrong, I have been advised by Dell Software supp (Software not in warranty) to download the latest chipset software and BIOS. I have logged onto Dell and seen some other driver software that Dell says should be downloaded and installed. Does it matter in what order I install drivers and why doesnt the Update/ Analyze sytem work. I download the program and try to run it and it says it needs version 4 full or other compatible .NET Framework.

XPS 17 (l702x) Battery Light Blinked Now Laptop Slowed Down With Audio Distortion
My Dell XPS 17 l702x had the blinking battery light and I replaced the battery and everything was fine for about 2 weeks.
Now my laptop has been slowing down and it has weird audio distortion.
I have removed the battery and my laptop is still slow, but it isn't as bad without the battery.
Is there anything that I can do to figure out what is wrong with my laptop?

Latitude XT2 flashes blue lights at F4 and F5 and also the Caps lock tab
Please help me I have this unit and for what ever reason the service tag number has been removed and I can not get this laptop to load up. The start button lights and the fan runs then after 2 minutes the F4,F5, Caps Lock tab flashes a Blue Light. I have tried all day today to get help from Dell but they wont help me because I can not produce the sercive tag #.. I have tried the internet fix of pushing and holding the F12 button the F2 button and the control alt delete button ect. Nothing works. If anyone knows what I can do to reboot my laptop I realy would appreciate the help.

I am not satisfied and faced utter disappointment by dell's service
I have a Dell Studio Laptop bought 3 years back. Recently about a month back there seemed to be a problem with mother board. when i requested the technical support regarding the same, they have asked me to make payment for the part (INR 11000/-) which i duly paid on the same day. They promised me a solution at the earliest and then kept on delaying it by 2 days, 3 days each time i called them. now after 25 days of Painful waiting they say that the parts are not going to be available hence they will refund the money with services charges deducted. Hence this is my complaint on them for keeping me in dark about the actual situation and never reverting back to me as promised. (I was also promised a 5 yr hardware manufacturing guarantee from DELL when i brought the laptop, though its only 3 years now they say they wont provide service) I request Dell people to stop boasting of their timely responses and prompt service. and i also request everyone who are planning to buy a dell laptop not to expect to use it for more than 2-3 years. so if you want to face pain and torture of endless wait you can expect it from DELL. <ADMIN NOTE: Case ID removed per privacy policy> Regards R Abhishek
