E 6500 Bios Flash with no battery

$

After killing my old battery, my Latitude E6500 is refusing to detect the new battery I bought for it. It will run off the battery if I disconnect the AC, but will not charge, I have been using a co-worker's E6500 to recharge it.

I have been instructed to run the E6500 Bios flash, however since the computer does not detect the battery, it will not allow me to proceed with the flash. /forceit does not work. Are there any other command line variables I can use to make the bios upgrade perform without a battery check?

No power to dell 1545

Hello all,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 that will not power on.  After ordering a new power cord and battery, still nothing.

I went on line and found videos on how to disassemble the laptop to check the power port. I found that mine was broken.

I ordered a new one and following the instructions I replaced it. Still nothing when I press the power button. No lights on the computer at all.

Is there anything else that can cause this?

Thanks

-No Battery is Detected- 1yrs old Dell Inspiron 3521

Hi there,

I know, same question as probably other 1000 users.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3521 (even though it says 5521 when I log on Dell UK), running Windows 8.

all of a sudden my battery started discharging progressively, until one day it reached 0%, and from that day onwards, the icon with the red cross always appears in my taskbar.

I've tried to resolve the issue by running Dell diagnostic, which resulted utterly useless. every time I tried to run a  diagnostic there was a problem despite me being right in front of my WiFi router.

I've never managed to get in touch with Dell, mainly because I'm a complete dumb when it comes to pc's.

Now desperate, I purchased a refurbished Dell battery on ebay, and still the system won't detect it; once plugged in it shows the charging icon (without telling the percentage) and after 1min the red cross comes again. It behaves exactly the same as the one I've already got.

I'm assuming my AC adapter works fine, otherwise I would have not be able to use my laptop in the last months, and of course the computer runs with the battery completely disconnected. (correct?)

Before discharging completely my battery worked just fine, it all happened in a matter of 2 days. I've always tried to look after it, and more importantly, my inspiron is 1years old. Purchased from Dell Outlet on january 2014 (warranty expired 3 days ago, well done me).

I've tried pretty much all sort of DIY methods, but the BIOS won't update because the system does not detect the battery.

ePSA error code is: 2000-0131, and the message is "the battery is not installed".

I'm a complete NOOB, I was an idiot because my warranty is now expired, and technical support is off on the weekend.

save me, pleease !

Hello,

This is a relatively new computer. Only a week or so old... Yet, I've experienced more than my fair share of Blue Screen Errors (12 and counting!!). Reading some of the other users' troubles, I guess it's a hard drive issue. Here are the summaries of the last 3 errors:

If you can't read the whole table, here's a link with the same info.

I've noticed that it usually happens when I put the computer to sleep (closing the lid). When I try to turn it back on hours later, the device shows the lockscreen but is completely unresponsive - and I get an email (from Soluto) telling me that it experienced a blue screen error. So, I power it off manually then turn it back on and start using it normally again.

Also, the online Dell Diagnostics says everything's fine - as does the boot maintenance check.

Other than the crazy number of blue screens, rather silly trackpad design and questionable speaker positioning - I love this device. Please help!!

Alienware 17 sometimes freezes on boot

Here are some worrying symptoms:
1) Sometimes it will permanently freeze during booting (on the Windows login screen). After a hard-shutdown it will always boot successfully.
2) Sporadically it will freeze for a short time when I am just browsing/gaming etc.. This lasts for half a minute approximately.
3) The Action Center will bring up a warning every now and then saying 'Hard drive is not recognized' although i am able to see and access all of my hard drives (I have a 2x1T RAID0 and mSata SSD setup) .

All ePSA checks I have run pass with no errors, but the above issues persist! Any ideas what could be wrong here? Thanks

Dell XPS 12 AC Adapter Unknown

$

Recently ran into an issue  with the AC adapter not being recognized despite being the original cord and no longer charging the battery. No issues with light on cord flickering or turning off. Purchased a new power cord anyways but problem persists. BIOS shows unknown type for Ac adapter even after BIOS update. Diagnostics scan doesn't detect any problems.  Laptop is no longer under warranty. Seems to be closely related to this thread which doesn't really have a solution - http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19590342

Anyone have any idea why this occurs and if there is a workaround or repair to re-enable the charging? It appears the laptop is just disabling the charging circuit despite being provided the correct power.

Dell Inspiron 7347 Keyboard Backlight

$

I have a slight issue with the KB backlight on my 7347 laptop.  I would expect the KB backlight to go off with the screen illumination (i.e. when it times out) but it doesn't.  I could live with that since I can turn the KB backlight off manually using Fn-F10.  However, what is really odd is that if I turn the KB backlight off manually, it automatically turns back on and stays on when the screen illumination times out.  If I turn it off again manually that wakes the screen up and round we go again!  I don't seem to be able to have the screen and KB off at the same time - which defies all logic!

Anyone have a clue how I can rectify this?

Brand new Dell Latitude E5540 several attempts to boot

$

Hi All,

Need some help to troubleshoot this problem, I have the latest Bios update and the laptop

seems to suffer from wanting to boot properly on 1st attempt. Sometimes it will

take up to 10 tries before it boots up.

Symptoms: Dell logs goes half and the machine freezes, sometimes it will just be stuck

on the logo and not boot at all.

A brand new laptop with this problem is REALLY frustrating. I guess I have to log a call with

them to get them to fix it?

Thanks for any comments/suggestions in advance.

Cheers

Jono

Your battery is temporarily disabled. Please turn off your computer and try again when the unit is back to the operational temperature

Hi,

I recently purchased Dell Inspiron 3542 (Nov14), and I'm getting a battery error when my house is a bit cold.

"Your battery is temporarily disabled. Please turn off your computer and try again when the unit is back to the operational temperature"

This message shows up at bios check and only option is for me to press f2 to enter bios, which doesn't give me any other option. This occurs very frequently, and I never saw such an issue with any other laptop I have owned.

To test, I removed the battery and ran the PC plugged in -- and it worked just fine.

Is there a way to prevent this message from showing up and allowing me to use the laptop?

Thank you.
