I currenly have the BIOS, but there are a few BIOS updates, ( BIOS A13, A16 ) .
but after trying two time to update the BIOS it didnt seem to update.
What should I do?

Inspiron D820 bad memory and overheating(?) shut downs
I have had a refurbished Inspiron D820 for over a year. It always worked fine until recently one day it did not start, no dell screen, only caps lock flashing. I removed the RAM (2GB) below the keyboard, apparently dead, and it started fine again (though slower, with only 2 GB left). I started working and then the fan made a lot of noise, there was a click and the laptop shut down. It seemed to be a CPU overheating problem, which I confirmed using I8kfanGUI, since it was the only temp that appeared high enough (around 100·C or more). As soon as windows starts, the temperature is already high. I disassembled it and cleaned the fan. It had a clog blocking par of the air way. I thought it would solve the problem, but it still persists. The computer starts ok, works for a bit with the fan, suddenly the fan speeds (noisily) and then click, shut down. How are the death of the RAM and the CPU overheating related? Could a CPU overheating killI the RAM? Why did the shut downs never happen before the death of the RAM? I appreciate any opinions and recommendations.

Inspiron 5421 won't start
My Inspiron 5421 won't start. I can hear the drive start and after a few seconds I get a 4-beep code (RAM read/write failure). The warranty expired about 6 months ago. Suggestions?

installing windows on new hard drive
Can I use my recovery cd's to install windows on a new hard drive? Will it bring up my windows activation key ? I lost everything cause my hard drive went out.

HL-DT-ST-DVDRWBD CT30N not working properly
I have a XPS 17 (L702X) laptop and recently updated the OS system to window 8. I haven't had any problems until I went to burn a dvd. The HL-DT-ST-DVDRWBD CT30N now say it is a cd drive only and can not burn dvds. I have never had this problem before. I tried updating the driver through the control panel and it says the driver is up to date. It also shows no restore points in which I can go back to when it was working properly. Is there a driver download I can use to correct this problem?

Is it Dell, Is it Win 8.1, is it Me
Love gadgets and figuring them out but I have to admit I think this new laptop has won and I've lost.
Dell Inspiron15 5547.
Have figured my way around 8.1, love the touchscreen and keyboard.
Don't love the higher resolution screen, two finger scrolling that works until it doesn't requiring a reboot, touchpad that is so sensitive I send incomplete messages, delete text, etc.In fact, while typing this I apparently came within a micron of the touchpad and the cursor was typing in the middle of a word two sentences back. Happens all the time.
Got all the latest drivers, made all the adjustments in control panels, touchpad properties, display settings. I could just turn off and on the touchpad when typing lengthy text but why should I have to?
There is no happy medium in adjusting the size of text in display settings, medium is too small and larger is too big. So it devolves into enlarging and shrinking each page or window to meet my needs.
Do I have to download Dell Detect every time I want to check for new drivers, etc? Apparently so. When I select to automatically install the items detect says I need why does it not appear to actually download them? I end up downloading manually and installing.
Why has the promise of all this technology fallen short of the marketing hype with the current case being the most egregious.
I loved XP, Vista was an improvement and 7 better still. So why am I having so much trouble with this computer?
I had to vent, doubt that there is an answer. I have spent hours and hours trying to figure it out on the FAQs, google searches all for nothing. All of this since 11/20/14
I fantasize destroying the laptop and mailing the pieces back to Dell or perhaps I will just return it to Costco and take my friends advice and try a Mac.

My Inspiron 6400 would not startup
Hello Folks,
I had left my Inspiron in standby mode for 2 days. Then when i tried on the power button, it would not boot. Only the power button would go green for 3 seconds and thats it. no sound no other lights coming on.
I tried some quick fixes, like removing the battery and trying on only the adapter, pressing down the power button for 30 seconds and replacing the RAMs back in. All in vain.
Any suggestions would be of great help!

Dell 15r 5010 no bluetooth
Hi all.
I have a dell inspiron 15r 5010 win7 is.
My Bluetooth has been gone since dell done a HD change I while back. Not in network and sharing and the other dell app syc thing for mobiles does not let anything happen.
My phone can find the PC under Bluetooth device 385 but does not respond.
I have reinstalled driver and the application and it still does not work.
The icon is in the task bar, it starts to load that nothing.
I went into bios and it is enabled but my computer is also shutting down when I go into bios after a few seconds to a min.
Can anyone help me please.

i bought a dell inspiron 15r in KSA one year ago..it has win 8..now i m in india..due to some problems i think to install win 7..while instaling i did nt find boot frm dvd otion..it has uefi frmware..then in change boot mode i changed to legacy mode..then i found dvd option..i started the proces..it shows all the drive..accidently i formated the drive.while selecting the drive it shows that cant install because GPT partition style..now i m stuck.now nothing in laptop.it has some reserve OEM space though..i dont hv any recovery disk or wind8 disk..i hav only win 7 disk..plz help me out its very urgent.

Dell XPS L401X - Need Help
Hey there, I have a Dell XPS L401X (Late 2010) laptop which I brought from Dell. My question is that, I want to buy a better GPU from Nvidia and I have an Nvidia GeForce 245M Which Only has 1 GB VRAM and I literally can't play cool games with it.. so, is it possible to do so? to replace the GPU with another one? And I even want to put up another RAM chip, so, I have a 4 GB ddr3(or something) RAM, Should I only ttake 4 GB ddr3(again) RAM chip or is it fine like 2 GB DD-whatever ram?

Inspiron 3521 BSoD
Hi, sorry if this is the wrong place to post, I'm not sure where else to put this.
I've been running into problems with my laptop (e.g. critical_process_died) and I understand I might need to do a factory reset.
Problem is that I am being prompted for a disk to restore old properties from, and I didn't download a backup image of the system.
How would I be able to get my hands on the disk that allows for a factory reset?

Latitude E6530 keyboard problem
I just found that my E6530 keyboard bends a little in the left upper corner. When i push a little bit harder the A or S or D key, the keys around move a little bit. Does this happen to anyone or is just me?

New M2800 light bleed from bottom of display?
I recently received my new M2800 workstation and I instantly noticed that there were several light patches at the bottom of the screen.
I upgraded the panel to the UltraSharp IPS option and although it does look great in windows this is the worst light bleed I have ever seen and did not expect if from an UltraSharp.
The LCD troubleshooting page is not working on the FAQ, but I don't know what to do.
I would like to keep the laptop, but would like to know what can be done about my display.
I forgot to take a picture but it looks something like these but only from the bottom of the screen.
I will update an actual image as soon as I can.

XPS Restore
I'm trying to do a factory restore on a 2010 Dell XPS L701X using the Dell Datasafe Backup. When booting, I choose to restore to factory condition/setup. At 55% of reformatting I keep getting an error, the error reads, "Error Ox001100200001005". It will not go farther, when I click OK, the computer simply reboots and the cycle starts all over again.
