During startup I get a black screen that give me the following options: F1 Continue ,F2 Setup, or F12 Boot menu. When I hit F1 windows starts. I tried updating BIOS but the black screen continue appearing every time. What do I need to do to solve this?

I got a Dell Latitude E6530. The system is completely up-to-date except for the BIOS. "Analyze my system for updates" from the Dell website shows that "Dell Latitude E6530 System BIOS A11" is available (current is A09).
The downloaded executable (E6530A11.exe) runs fine, restarts the computer but on startup no BIOS flashing starts.The OS is starting fine with no error messages and that's it.
Does anyone know why the flashing doesn't start?

The screen on my Inspirion M5040 started showing streaks (striations) after I picked it up by the lid the other day. Ithought a felt something crack.
The screen is streaked and a little lighter on the top 2/3. The darker the page contact the more pronounced the streaking will be. At times the text is obsecured.
Can anyone tell me what I did?
Did the screen crack?
Did I fry the graphic part of the proccessor?

I have a Studio 1536 that has intermittent overheating issues - I get the #M1004 error code. I tried elevating it, got a cooling fan and that has helped as in it doesn't overheat and shutdown as often. I also updated the BIOS. After experiencing this problem for a while, I started getting warning messages that my battery needed to be replaced.
My question: Are the two related? If I replace the battery, will it solve the overheating issue?

I know this is a little off topic BUT does anyone know how to get rid of OtShot I think it is a malware program. Problem is since this program somehow got into my computer it has created different advirtisings that repeatededly flash which brings on my daughters epliepsy if she happens to be on the comouter. Can someone please help the computer is supposeto be fu for her and not a trip to the E.R.

When ever i play Hitman absolution ,the laptop automatically shuts down. The same thing happened when i played battlefield 3.
I changed graphics to low, updated Nvidia driver as well and 'm also using cooler also.

Hi all, I'm attempting to restore my vista premium XPS-M1530 to its original factory condition as if I pulled it out of the box. Two years ago I did this successfully, but now I am running into a problem. Following the instructions given by Davet50:
"Instructions from the user manul Dell Factory Image Restore Turn on the computer.
1.When the Dell logo appears, press several times to access the Vista Advanced Boot Options Window.
2. Select Repair Your Computer."
After selecting the repair setup my computer does not enter the process, instead it starts the windows OS as it normally would. Any thoughts onto why I cannot get it to enter the setup?

I have the M17x R4. It says my laptop comes with the soundblaster recon3di.
From what i understand it is just a software and there is no separate sound card in my computer.
A real soundblaster recon 3D would have an headphone amplifier.
But we only have the software, so i wouldnt be able to power a headphone that lets say, have 150ohm of impedance.
Basically what I'm asking is does the m17x R4 have a headphone amp.

I have enabled Fn Key Emulation under POST settings in BIOS. however it does not work in Windows 7. Scroll lock + Up/down has no effect.
it does mention in the setting's description that it does not support Windows XP but supports DOS--how useful! so does that mean Windows 7 is not supported either?
I have installed latest Intel's chipset and display drivers but I can't change display brightness inside Windows settings. the slider has no effect. Ambient light sensor also doesn't work in Windows but works while in BIOS.
is there any way to change display brightness inside windows or using USB keyboard?

I'm using Dell N5110 Windows 8 Pro.
I have all the drivers updated. Yet, two of my USB 3 ports are not working at all. It isn't hardware problem, as when I plug in my Portable HDD, the light of the HDD switchs on but no detection in the Windows. :(
Left side's USB 2 is working nice, and its the only working USB port so its very annoying to work with just one port.
Please help me.

In other thread, I found that they told that to uninstall all the USB drivers from Device Manager. I did, and after the restart, all those drivers showed up. Like this:

I've got a Latitude e6410 with an Intel GMA HD , Bios version A10 and Windows 8 64bit. At home, I'm running my laptop on a PR02X docking station with 2 monitors. While one monitor is connected via the DVI port (no probs), the other one (Philipp 227e4lhab) is using a DVI->HDMI cable.
That seems to be the problem, cause every time the laptop goes sleeping the following happen: While one monitor (the DVI one) is waking up, the Philips one shows only a warning with "no cable connection". Switching the monitor off and on again solves the problem, but it's really annoying over a longer term.
Is there any solution?

I have a problem with my Laptop Dell Inspiron 15r n5110 i7 with Nvidia Geforce 525m (Windows 7)
My CPU was overheating while i was playing games to 100°C and it was shutting down... And i reduced the power in the "CPU Power managment at maxmimum 60%" It solved the problem but i wanted max power. I alarmed this problem to the Dell Support and a Technician was send at my place to replace the cooling body. Today he did change it and the temperatures went suprisingly down from 95 to 75°C at maximum CPU power. But i dont know why after the change my temperatures of the graphic card went realy high. They are goin from 50 to 96-97°C in 1-2 minutes and the Laptop shuts down.. (while gaming)
Basicly before the changes the CPU was overheating and the Graphic card was ok, after that CPU is cooler and the Graphic card is overheating... I dont get it
I am using a cooling pad but it cant keep up that heat.. I have the latest BIOS / Nvidia driver updates. Dell diagnostics are saying that everything is OK.
Is it possible that the technician accidently blocked the airflow to the graphic card. Or the problem is software related, i have to change something somwhere or downgrade a BIOS maybe? Im realy running out of ideas. I woud realy appriciate any kind of help..

Background:
I'm attempting to use Symantec Ghost to create a Win8 x64 enterprise image of my Dell Inspiron 17R 5720(http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/ServiceTag/BKGN1W1). When booting from a ghost boot disk DVD I get this error:
Here is the blue screen error message I'm getting:

I contacted Symantec Ghost (http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/when-will-come-new-version-ghost-gss-30) and they say the problem is with Dell. I did a Dell support chat and they say nothing is wrong with the BIOS and if I install Windows 8 enterprise it is not support, etc. Microsoft support says to contact Dell, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314830 when I get this error message.
So, I'm stuck in the middle and hoping someone else has resolved this issue.
Note, I can install Windows 8 x64 bit enterprise with no problem using the Microsoft Win 8 DVD. Problem is when I attempt to clone the laptop using a ghost boot dvd.

Today I was surprised to note a new program on my laptop. My Dell, some sort of Dell program associated with the company PC Doctor on my computer.
I never downloaded this program (to my knowledge at least) however, the laptop recognized it as legitimate and a virus scan picked up nothing. Does anyone has any idea where this program came from?
Hi, It's been about 9 months since I got my laptop.
Since couple days ago, it won't charge. I tried my charger and battery with other n5110 models and they worked.
I think either motherboard or charging plug broke.
