Seriously?????

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop back in May.  Apparently the motherboard took a *** on Sunday.  After spending about an hour on the phone with Dell, this is the revelation that with.  They put in a ticket for a tech to come to my home with a new motherboard.  This was suppose to be Tuesday evening at the latest.  The tech called me Wednesday morning to inform me the part hadn't arrived, and he would call me first thing Wednesday morning to setup a time to come out.  3pm Wednesday rolls around, still no call.  I decide to reach out to him.  He tells me that he has a bad day & won't be able to come out until tomorrow................unacceptable!!  I call Dell back Immediately.  After 50 minutes on the phone, the manager assures me that the tech will be calling me.  And, that the tech will be at my place by 5pm.  The tech ends up calling me back 1.5 hrs later to inform me that he has me scheduled for 9:30 tomorrow............NO!  After expressing my displeasure over this, he says he can make a special trip for me.  This outsourced tech guy shows up, beats the *** out of my laptop trying to get the keyboard off (this took 25 minutes).  He installs the new motherboard, comments on how it's odd that he has extra screws now?  He boots up the pc........nothing but beeps.  He says (with no further testing) that Dell must've screwed it up over the phone....?  He said that he doesn't have time for this because he must make class on time.  So...................he puts me back on the line with Dell.  Going to send me a box, ship my pc to them.....blah, blah.  The tech walks out my door.  4 minutes later I'm calling him to let him know that I just rebooted my pc & it's working now.  "I have no Idea what top tell you....good luck" was his reply.  Come to find out that my RAM is now fried.  The laptop is scratched to hell as well.  I was escalated to Dell's advanced support.  Once again they want my laptop to check if "their" tech messed anything during the installation.  Not happening!  To settle this.....they're sending me two sticks of 4gb ram to replace my fried 8gb stick of ram.  How the hell does help.  I had two 8gb sticks.  So to solve the issue......I'll go from 16gb's down to 8???????  What a complete joke you are Dell.  Motherboard failing after five months????  This is the first, and the last, product that I will ever purchase from you!

I'm done venting now...

XPS 14 (L421X) will not boot and continuously beeps

I first experienced this problem a couple of days ago. When I try to wake my laptop up from sleep the screen will not light up, though the backlight for the keyboard will, and the computer beeps continuously (I've let it go for about ten minutes). The only way I can stop the beeping is by holding the power button until the computer turns off. When this problem first happened a couple of days ago I left my laptop alone for an hour and it came on without a problem and worked fine for two days. However, this started happening again last night. I let the laptop sit overnight but it still wouldn't turn on in the morning. I let it sit again while I was at work but it's still not working. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How to escalate Dell repair order. Been two months.

I have a Dell XPS 15Z. The screen developed a snag and half of the display started displaying lines of various colors. I called Dell Customer support and they suggested a screen replacement.

They asked me to pay Rs. 11,000 before they could import the screen and said it will take maximum three weeks to repair it. Its been close to 8 weeks, and the customer support team calls me every week and ask me if the the technical team called me. Each time they say they will email the tech team, and that's all they can do to hope for a resolution this problem.

How can I escalate this issue as I am fed up of the lousy dell support team. My unique tracking number is 572562-4590689

Inspiron 1545 - inadvertently downloaded Dell Windows Vista update

Just realized the Dell updates I was installing on my 1545 were all for pre-Windows 8 versions. (The Dell Dell product support page did not identify the Windows version on the list.)

Will this cause anything to malfunction, i.e., do I have to do a system restore, or can I just leave the updates for older versions of Windows installed?

Latitude E6440 won't power on issue

Hi, I'm a PC technician for a university, and since we started deploying E6440s, we've been having sporadic problems with them not turning on. When you hit the power button, it will light up, but after a few seconds, it goes off again. Nothing else happens.

When this problem occurs, the only work-around is to remove the laptop from a dock (if it's on one, but I have seen the problem occur when the laptop is not docked) and remove the battery, wait a few seconds, and reinsert it. Then it powers on normally.

I've tried updating the BIOS to the latest version (A07), but that doesn't help.

For some of our users, this seems to happen at least once a week.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

Venue 11 Pro - GPS settings

(running on Windows 8.1 Pro)

Not sure what I've done, but I can't find any settings to do with the built in GPS.

When I started trying to use maps (I downloaded 'HERE Maps') the programme roughly got my location right, though it was about a mile or so out, perhaps due to being indoors, though my other GPS devices (on different laptops etc.) have never had such an error. However the only location my tablet will now give me, is about 150miles away in London.

Please be nice and gentle with me... can anyone give me basic steps to change my gps settings please and possible ways to make good.

Thanks for your patience :)

not replacement of defective items of my laptop

My laptop with service tag<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> and service code<ADMIN NOTE: Express service code removed per privacy policy> . Which was under warranty till 8/10/2014.And service request no is  <ADMIN NOTE: service request number removed per privacy policy>which was filed during its warranty period.Since I purchased this laptop, got technical issues. But they did not fix my issues satisfactorily. Whenever I logged complain against my issues I got very poor resolution. I think I got defective laptop So I always faced issues.

Around 3 months ago I logged the complain regarding  LCD display, Hard Drive, battery charger, DVD Drive. When ever I complained about these issues they just killed my time 3-4 hours by same diagnostic test,  formatting and re installing the operating system and other things which was very fruitless to me. I got frustrated with  technical support. Which affected my health. Some times they behaved so rudely that I got depressed.

One month ago they told me that your LCD had replaced while the LCD was not replaced. When I complained about same then they give details which was very surprising. My name is VIKESH KUMAR JHA andI am the student of IIT Kharagpur. While they told me that Your LCD had been replaced and the name of the person whom they replaced the LCD was VISHAL from Chandigarh.

I am the single user of my laptop and how they did replace the LCD display to wrong person.I got very panic to hear that. They always cheated me. I have been suffering a lot due to the defective LAPTOP .

Since I month they are just killing my time and health they are not trying too solve my issues.

I have lost my health and money due to negligence of dell technical support. And they are not even realizing it.

What is the advantage of getting the laptop in warranty with full coverage by paying extra money. They just robbed me by selling the defective laptop to me.  Now my laptop is out of warranty but they did not fix my issued during warranty despite of complaining many times. Due to negligence of Dell technical support my studies has been affected.I need justice. Please look into my matter . Please do needful.

Help - E6440 BSOD BCcode 9f

$

A few months back my company bought a few Latitude E6440 units (about 7-9 of them) and every single one of the has been getting the same exact BSOD, BCcode 9f.

It has been a nightmare trying to get these things fixed. I'm simply looking for any suggestions anyone may have to help resolve this issue. I've been to countless forums and have had to deal with literally dozens of Dell Techs. On multiple occasions, We've had onsite Dell Technicians come to replace the Motherboards and daughter boards for each of these units without any success. We've taken one of the sticks of ram out at a time to see if the issue would still persist(it did for each stick), we've also had to swap the HD itself on a few occasions(no luck).

I've ran Windows Memory Diagnostics tool(thorough) with multiple scans without any issues being found. I've ran chkdsk, sfc /scannow, Ran the Dell Diagnostic tools(before and after upgrading to the latest BIOS version, A07) . I've updated each Driver that I could find available on the Dell website and using my Driver Pack Solutions v14.7(on a separate E6440 having the same issue). I've gone back to Dell's factory image on the machine itself and used a Dell Win7 Pro x64 disk to reformat the units and repeated everything else I've stated thus far after the reformat on each unit. Still the BCcode of 9f plagues me.

I'm sure I've skipped a couple other things I've done along the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated at this point. I just don't know what else I can do to resolve this issue. I've dealt with at least a dozen Dell Technicians at this point and even an engineer without any success.
I truly regret purchasing these units...

(I'd upload a couple dmp files, but it appears the forums won't let you attach those kind of file extensions, funny for a forum of this nature)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated at this point.

Hi everyone,

Recently the hard drive on my laptop failed and I am attempting to fix the problem myself. I have a few questions regarding this:

1. Is replacing the hard drive all I have to do, or are there more steps to fixing my computer?

2. What hard drives specifically can I use to replace the old one?

Thank you so much!

Tech breaks computer; sent used model that feels off?

My Alienware 13" started displaying pink splotches on the screen when it was black. I contacted customer service and they sent me a box to ship the laptop out for repair. It comes back in two days with paperwork stating it's fixed but it's not. We call and they say, "We're sending a part to a local technician." It would have been fantastic for them to say this...

The tech comes out and replaces the LCD and the motherboard and after 4 hours of work, he's broken it to the point where it won't start up. So out it goes in the mail again. After about a week, it comes back with the pink splotches gone after they replaced the LCD and the motherboard again. But now the entire screen flickers. Yay for testing. They say they'll send another tech. We ask not to send the same guy. They agree.

A few days later, the same guy shows up. Lucky us... Two hours later, he's fixed the problem. He leaves, we go on about our lives. The next day it becomes apparent that now my laptop won't charge and there is a loose screw rattling around. It's back to being an expensive paperweight after under a year's worth of use. Oh, and when you open it, the screen makes a popping noise.

I use this laptop for homework and at this point have been without it for some time. So we tell tech support no more, we want another computer, this one has been gutted at least 3 times. The deal we reach is that they'll check for a used model like mine and if after three days they haven't found one, they will build a new one. Three days later they say nevermind on the new one, here's a used one that's a slight upgrade. So they send it to me, it's got a few cosmetic dings that makes it obvious it's not new (thanks), and when I start it up, it looks horrible. Resolution is up but all traces of Alienware have been erased apart from the command center, etc. No wallpapers, just pixelated images of flowers named "img6", "img7", etc. Steam's icon is pixelated and I'm not sure why. Really, the whole thing feels icky.

Should I be doing something to make it look, you know, not outdated somehow? I will admit that the whole process has been disappointing and I'm upset so I could be missing something. Note that my original laptop was on Windows 7; the one they sent is, I guess, on 8.1? Is that normal? Are people getting new Alienware laptops with 8.1 and pictures of flowers as their only background options?... Maybe it's not a big deal but I was expecting a similar experience and was thrown for a wth loop. Even opening things like settings gives me pixelated icons from the 90s...

UPDATE: The new laptop is having the same issue my old one ended up with. When plugged into the wall, the power cord lights up. When plugged into the laptop, it stops. So I switched it to another outlet in the apartment that I know is on a separate circuit and it worked. So then I thought wow, it was the outlet... I unplug it to test again and it stops working. Battery is dying and the cord goes off as soon as it's plugged in.
