dell 5420 Laptop not working after BIOS updates to A19.

Since my laptop prompted for updation. I checked the drivers for my laptop Dell Inspiron 14R 5420, and found only BIOS A19. so I downloaded it and installed it, after that my laptop is not logging in, just it always getting restarted showing the message. "your system had encountered a problem and restarting now". please help me out in sloving as it affects my work badly. 


Let Dell website install the drivers or do it manually?

Hello, I just joined. I got a Dell Inspiron 3537 (i5, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, 1 GB Gfx card, Win 8 x64 Single Language OEM UEFI) two days ago, and on the first day, I messed up. The first thing I should have done is make recovery disks; instead, I saw that there's only one 450 GB partition (C drive), and I used Easeus Partition Master to partition it. When the computer rebooted, it just wouldn't start. You can see the thread I've made here:

Anyway, I've decided to format and re-install Windows 8, and I'm going to download Win 8.1 Single Language. I've already read the guides on how to do it.

On the Dell website, I used the "Detect My Product" option, and it detected the model and the service tag and express service code. I then clicked on "System Analysis", and it showed four drivers as needing updating.

My question is this: after formatting and reinstalling Win 8.1, when I reach the part about installing the drivers, how should I do it? Should I first download all the drivers for my model from the website, and install them manually in the order given on this page:

Or should I open the Dell website, do a System Analysis, let it scan and decide which drivers to install, and then let it do the whole installation? I think the chipset drivers should be the first to be installed; will the Dell website do it in this order?

Dell Inspiron 1720 with two ExpressCard slots

I am reassembling a 1720 after system board replacement. This 1720 appears to have a dual ExpressCard reader setup, one on top the other.

The PCB without the cage is marked: DA0GM2TH8C0 and the PCB with the metal cage is marked: DA0GM2TH8C1. There is also an additional HDD circuit board, which I cannot see how to fit.

The otherwise good instruction manual does not cover this point. Online videos also only show one ExpressCard fitted.

I have spent quite a bit of time searching for an assembly guide which shows this without success.

dell inspiron 15r 5520 not being start and charge

hello friends,

my 2 years old 15r 5520 laptop is not being on, when I push power button then it blinks for a while, for 5-6 seconds and cooling fan ons  too for the same time duration, then gets off. When I do same with changer plugged in it happens repeatedly. it is not being charged also, the charging LED is not blinking.

I am so much worried... what should be the probable problem please please suggest.

XPS15 brightness issue

Hey, I just got my XPS 15 last week. I have an issue with brightness, I think its a driver issue or sensor something.

I use maximum performance / on power or balaced on battery. I love the 4K display is very bright.

Yet, sometimes it reduces brightness while I work. Could be a combination of keys, i didnt figure that yet.

After that, it wont let me enhance brightness at all. It looks as 80% and it wont go higher. After a while I found a  solution - to disable HD Graphics 4600, and to enable again from Device Manager.

But, this is time consuming and annoying... Please help. I want to keep brightness higher.

15R 5537 display Menu

Hi everyone, I would like to brighten and enhance the color on my Dell 15R 5537touchscreen  laptop. I've done the grey screen calibration - nothing. It says pull up the on screen display menu and to look at my documentation to know where to find that. There is no documentation that came with it and I can't find the answer on here even though it seems like a simple request. Can anyone help? Please and thank you.

Hello all! I am DedSec!

 

I've been using my laptop (Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition) for almost 2 years now and I must it is a BEAST! Dell designs great products. However I have this little issue. I want to boot from USB but... there is no option for it (lol right) nobody had this issue before. However, I managed to update my BIOS from A02 to A11. Still, I go to LEGACY BOOT category and no USB option. I go to Boot Options, no USB option (just Hard Disk, CD/CD-RW, Network). Any solutions? It is very crazy lol, cant understand why this happens.

 

P.S If I ask you to explain something somehow better please don't get mad, I am only 14 and I am from Greece, I love tech but we are humans, not machines :)

680M GPU is not function/detected Where can I go/send for repair?

Hi all,

   This morning I was gaming and all the sudden the screen flashed and the computer shut down.  I turned it back on and the NVIDIA GPU is no longer being detected.  I'm not sure what's going on, but it has been a bit screwy lately - I've played different games and had weird artifacts in the game.  I'm now wondering if the GPU was dying or something.

   I can't find anything on the Alienware website regarding sending my computer for repair or taking it to a certified Alienware repair specialist.  Can anyone help?

can i upgrade my Dell Vostro A840 with Intel Celeron 560 cpu socket P currently installed with faster cpu for socket P. Can you tell me which cpu are supported in the bios and can i possibly install cpu with 1066 FSB speed like Intel T9900 or what is the fastest cpu supported?

Inspiron 3537 noise coming from the right side.

Ok so I really hope I can get help this time because this is really getting frustrating. So I bought the inspiron 3537 in May and it was always kind of loud, especially from the right side of the laptop. There were two kinds of noise, one was the hard drive making noise because apparently it was starting to fail (already) and the other noise is a noise that I am not so sure is coming from the hard drive. The reason I think that is because dell sent me a replacement hdd after sending them the recordings of the noise but that noise was still there. And after that I contacted dell again and they sent a courier to pick up the laptop and it came back after 4 days. The noise was still there and to add to that, now the hdd is making a beeping/clicking noise all the time...I really hope someone here can help. This is the recording below, I just increased the db by a little bit because my phone mic is a little weak, please help me because dell quite disappointed me, not only by not fixing the old problem but also sending an hdd that is in even worse condition than the old one.(Please visit the site to view this audio)

Where is latitude e7440 bios A09 (A08, A10, A11 keyboard problem)

I have two latitude e7440, they came with bios A09.

We updated to A11 bios, now we are having problems with the keyboard in linux.


We have tried using A08, and A10 bios.

The both versions have problems, A08 duplicates key inputs (Windows and Linux): examplee - and A10 repeats key inputs in linux:  exampleeeee

It is a known problem..

hello....

My dell laptop power button does not work.

following things tried

1)  I charged it with battery in.

2) removed the battery and pluged to a charger in order to have AC power connection.

3) i waited a while after charging (with battery in).

All three options are tried but still power button does not work.


Missing Administrator Console in Dell Data Protection | Security Tools

Dear all,

I have just received a Dell Latitude E7440 with SED SSD (Samsung m841).

Dell Data Protection | Security Tools (version 1.4.1) and Dell Data Protection | Encryption (version 8.4.1.6372) have both been installed by using Dell Digital Delivery (v2.9).

My problem with Dell Data Protection | Security Tools is that I can see on Windows 7 Start Menu the Security Console (Folder Dell/DELL Data Protection Manager) to set up user authentication, but I can not see the Administrator Console to enable the hardware encryption on the SSD drive.

Could you please let me know if I am missing something here?

Latitude E7240 Display Wire Under Keyboard Trim

Ok...yeah I know I might be a little @n@1 about this, but I just received a new E7240.  Is it just me or does the display wiring that goes up along underneath the keyboard trim (the piece between the volume keys and the power button) raise the trim up a little bit?  Dell sent me a new keyboard trim piece (it was a refurbed and it was very loose as some of the tabs underneath looked like they either didn't recognize where they were to go etc.  Anyways...I installed the new trim and it's still raised up a bit.  I've pushed (but not with huge force and everything seems clicked in.  Just curious if anyone else noticed that right where the display wire connects to the motherboard is up a little higher on the trim than the other areas.  Thanks!

Latitude E6320 keyboard only works on occasion

My keyboard has intermittently been working for some time now and I am trying to decide what is the best place to start trying to fix the issue. When it works, then everything works as it should, when it does not work, the keyboard is still lit up and the mouse joystick still works, but no keys work. To get the keyboard to work again I have to reboot and shutdown many times and eventually it will work again. It only stops working after shutting down or rebooting. To me it appears to be an issue with detecting at boot up. It seems it could be either an issue with the motherboard, or the keyboard so was hoping to get some opinions on how to narrow it down to one or the other. I should also add, that when it does not work, you can not access the bios, or anything prior to the operating system loading, so I am 100% sure its not an OS issue. I also dual boot this laptop and the keyboard does not work in either. I can plug in a usb and that works fine. Any thoughts on what the issue could be? TIA

I purchased a new Inspiron in August by October it failed - would not even boot I had to call Dell tech support only to be given incorrect case numbers I was transferred to multiple departments who I had to re-explain the issue - I was disconnected several times with no call back.  Additionally the original call ended with a tech scheduled to call back on the following monday by 10 am which never happened.  It is now 2:30 I am on hold with yet another tech manager who promises to resolve my issue but now we are back to scheduling a tech to come tomorrow.  I was told the parts would not be in until mid november - if they have not even looked at the system because it will not boot how do they know what parts are needed?  further more I was promised by the first tech manager that a replacement laptop would be sent then when on hold for the next tech in a "two part process" I was told my case number was not even valid and I had to start the process over....this is really not what
