I spent more than 5 hours being transferred around for a very simple issue. I told the first person I talked with (on chat)my issue and was told they did not have the technical expertise and I needed to call in (they provided 800 number) I called in - I was then transferred to level 2 support and after waiting on hold for a time I was hung up on without talking to anyone. I called back and was told again that I needed to talk to L2 support. They told me I was out of warranty and they transferred me to the out of warranty folks. I told the out of warranty support folks that I would pay to have the issue fixed - I was then told that it was a basic issue and they didn't have to charge me. They told me to press (F12) to restore my computer. My computer is a mini and doesn't have an F12. They then said they couldn't support this and would have to transfer me to a different group - specifically the mini group - they then transferred me to wireless. The wireless folks said they couldn't help me and they transferred me back to out of warranty. who then said that I couldn't get support unless I paid $59.00 us. I told them that I had been willing to pay for support more than 5 hours ago but now not so much - I was then told that they wouldn't help me and there is no work around. I asked to speak to a manager and was told the same thing. I then asked if his time was worth more than $59.00 for 5 hours he said yes of course but your unit is out of warranty and there is nothing I will do. This is a terrible answer and terrible service. I am so disappointed in Dell - I have been a staunch Dell customer since 1997. The last two years have changed my mind. Especially this last issue... to be told that your (Dell's) time is worth more than $59.00 an hour but my time isn't worth $59.00 in 5 hours. Terrible and I cannot see me wanting to use the Dell services or recommend Dell to anyone any longer. Sincerely Kevin Weck... former Dell Employee of 14 years.

Now I want to upgrade to 4GB. but do not buy the company's Nanya RAM => so I can buy a 2GB ram of other companies (eg, Kington) installed parallel to the old ram or not?

McAfee Security Advisor
I have an Inspiron 15 R Special Edition running Windows 8. The Win8 tile view has a double-wide tile named McAfee Security Advisor. When I select it, a screen appears with the message that "Security Information Not Available. There's a problem showing your security information right now."
I've waited many hours—days, actually—for the "right now" to clear. I've run all the McAfee and Dell checks to no avail. The McAfee Security Center indicates that my subscription is current; that everything is on, current, or active; and that "Your computer is secure (no action required)."
Does this feature really work? Or, should I turn it off or uninstall it?

M17xR4 Losing Connection
Well I just got my new laptop 2 days ago and I can browse the internet just fine on my own but when I try to play online games with my friend I always lose connection about 5 to 10 minutes in and don't know why. It's not my internet because I can play just fine on my other computer. I figure its something to do with the default setting it comes with after purchase but I can't figure it out. I want to turn off the mouse tap on my Insperon N5050 with Windows 7
I am having a serious problem while typing where the focus jumps to wherever the mouse is located. This makes typing very difficult. I am hoping that if I turn the mouse tap functionality off, it may help. I have seen numerous internet post about the synaptic drivers and updates that might provide a setting but after I upgraded the drivers, I still see no setting to turn this functionality off. I had a simple setting in the Mosue setting in my old Vista machine, but there is no setting I can find on my Windows 7 laptop. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Advance Secure Boot Options
I own a Inspiron 7420 with Phoenix Securecore Tiano UEFI Bios. Anyone know whether there is a way to modify the secure boot key options in BIOS? Because these seems like basic functionality and I just could not find it. This basically only allows secureboot to be used with Microsoft Windows! Argh!

Display Resolution
It is noticed that there is a display resolution problem suddenly occurred in my XPS 15z (L511z) laptop. I just noticed when i saw my user account picture; it is really blurred, I have tried changing the account picture and still find that the thumbnail view is really blurred. It is having a problem with the thumbnail view everywhere including websites also like facebook and all. Any body can help to resolve?

windows 8 wifi keeps disconnecting from internet but stays connected to router
Hi
system = Latitude E6330, windows 8 pro, 8GB RAM,
system will maintain a wifi link to the internet for a few minutes then drop the internet connection but still remain connected to router.
have changed advanced adapter settings so that power saving does not stop the wifi adapter. But the problem still persists.
any help and guidance would be welcome.

Inspiron 5050 is very slow
I have a new Inspiron 5050 laptop (11 months old) and it is has become very slow since the past few weeks. When I start it, it takes very long to open the login screen - almost 10 - 15 mins. After, I login, it takes another 15+ mins for the home screen to display. In between, I get a black screen and nothing seems to happen. Please help me to resolve thsi problem asap.

I cant enter into bios using external monitor
Hello,I am using Dell Inspiron n4010 from the last 2.5 yrs.My laptop monitor stopped working thats why I bought an external Dell monitor..................Its working fine but I need to install the windows now..........Unfortunately,I cant enter into the BIOS from the external monitor and cant change the boot device to DVD rom.
Can anyone please tell how can I enter into the BIOS by using the external monitor(I have set it as a primary monitor but it still not working)??The screen comes up after the windows turns on..........Is there any way to recover it???????Please help..........

Installing Windows 7 (instead of Windows 8) on Dell 14z 5423 and experiencing the problems
Hi Guys!
Today is my time for the little story, I am not a native English speaker but I will try my best.
I purchased dell Inspiron 14z model 5423 some time ago, It has Windows 8 on It, I never used it before so I realised that it's better to use something that I know, at list a little bit and decided to downgrade to Windows 7 64bit. Before that, I looked in the Internet for any problem that can come up, most that I found lots of people were experience "stuck on dell logo",some were experience something else but I didn't find answer for the question that I am facing now :(
So what I did, in case if everything will go wrong, I made a backup (I didn't get any cd with my pc) also I burned Live CD of Ubuntu cause some people were telling it will be easy to delete partitions and install windows, moreover I put the image of Windows on flash (I was thinking it will go faster instead of DVD!), I tried to load from CD with Ubuntu Live cd but UEFI recognised CD at the beginning but later stuck and after reboot it is stopped seeing my dvd-rom at all?!?! :( So I pressed F12 => Change Boot Mode Setting. => Legacy Boot Mode, Secure Boot Off =>reboot
I booted with live CD and I was really surprised when I discovered 7 or 8 partitions; 2 was formatted in FAT some in NTFS and two was not recognised?!? they were marked with "!". I formatted partition marked "OS" (also one thing that I didn't get it was partition in 30 GB labeled “data”, what was it for?),I decided to keep all that hidden partitions and booted from flash drive with windows => pressed install and when I tried choose partition for windows it showed me that partition is in GPT and installer can't install windows on it, I searched Internet and find solution with "diskpart" but I will have to format all my HDD with "killing" hidden partitions,except mSSD and I did it. I thought that's it time for windows 7, but NO during installation it's stuck on 10% or later after couple tryes on 24% with error that windows can't be installed!!! :( I was trying to do different thing in bios,cause as far as I understood I switched off UEFI by doing this (Change Boot Mode Setting. => Legacy Boot Mode, Secure Boot Off), I turned on and off the "Intel rapid start technology" changed Sata operation from "Smart response Technology" in to "AHCI" "ATA" nothing worked as i mentioned 10 or 24% and error showed again :(
So, I decided to install windows from CD, I rebooted my computer on an choose "install windows" but how I was surprised when installer showed me that, I can't install windows on that kind of partition because it's MBR?! and I need GPT, how come?when I tried to keep hiden partition and my HDD was in GPT installer didn't let me use GPT,showing me that i need MBR!?!?ok my bad, didn't try CD when pen drive was rejected by installer.So I did same steps with "diskpart" commands and converted back in to GPT. Windows Installation begin and finished after couple reboots.
Later on, I downloaded drivers from dell web page after writing my product number and choosing Win7 64bit. I downloaded them in order that page was showing and I tried to do installation in the same order, so not everything installed from the firs time and order I download it, cause it's asked me for the fresh "framework", so most of the drivers were installed even Intel rapid store technology, the utility installed well but now I am not sure If i am using it or not, if it's working properly??? how to check it? although!!! I didn't install iRST (Intel Rapid Start Technology) and serial ATA : Intel Rapid Start Technology this 2 drivers extracting the files but when it's installing the error appears "THIS COMPUTER DO NOT MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE"? Also I tried to get back to UEFI Change Boot Mode Setting. => UEFI Boot Mode, Secure Boot On and next error is showing up "Internal hard disk drive not found,to resolve this issue,try to reset the drive. No bootable devices-- strike F1 to retry boot, F2 t oenter setup menu, F5 enter PSA."
So what I am asking for is to help me with:
1) How can I check If I am using Intel Rapid Storage Technology?
2) How can I install Intel Rapid Start Technology (iRST)with out this "THIS COMPUTER DO NOT MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE"?
3) Is it possible to come back to UEFI boot and fix this issue ("Internal hard disk drive not found,to resolve this issue,try to reset the drive. No bootable devices-- strike F1 to retry boot, F2 to enter setup menu, F5 enter PSA.")?
Also, Loading at the beginning is bit to slow it’s sort of stuck on dell logo for 5-7 seconds and later loading windows. what may cause the problem?

AMD Display Driver Problems
Hi there
I have a Dell Vostro 3550 which has worked fine until today. I decided to install Windows 8, installed Amd drivers and it installs everything apart from the display driver. Error message: Driver Install: the driver package does not specify a hardware identifier
That doesnt really matter right now because it has switchable graphics and the intel one works fine however I will be doing stuff that NEEDS the dedicated GPU and without the driver i can't switch to it. Has anyone else had this problem?

como puedo adquirir los discos de recuperación de mi Laptop Inspiron 15 3520 Etiqueta de servicio <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> y Código de Servicio <ADMIN NOTE: Express service code removed per privacy policy> con windows 8 ya que me salía un problema con la memoria y el mismo actualizador de Dell me indicaba que debía actualizar unos controladores lo cual luego de hacerlo parece que corrompió el windows que trae instalado. luego tratando de hacer una recuperación de imagen desde la copia de mi pendrive la misma se para cuándo va por un 38% arrojándome el siguiente error 0x4001001300001002 . He tratado de restaurarla pero no me sale el programa de restauración de Dell sino uno de windows que solo me permite analizar la memoria y el cache y me dice que introduzca el cd de instalación el cual no vino dentro de la caja. Por cierto trate de instalarle el Windows 7 que trajo la computadora de un amigo y me dice que no se puede instalar en ninguna de mis particiones ya que tienen un formato diferente. Entre los diferentes errores que me ha venido presentando se encuentran los siguientes - 0xc000000f - 0xc0000225 Por cierto me comunique con Dell Venezuela y me dijeron que no me podían asesorar que tenía que solicitar una mudanza del equipo y perdía la garantía y tenía que comprar una garantía nueva la cual me costaba 260 dólares. Yo me pregunto de que garantía internacional se habla cuando compramos el equipo

Dell xps 15 Laptop overheating

Thanks for reading this in advance. I've been stuck with this problem for a long time now and I haven't gotten the right answer yet.
I ordered a Dell xps 15 last year, maxed out performance: I7 2670qm processor, Nvidia 540m video card and 8 gigs of Ram.
Now comes the problem: Whenever I start-up a game like Battlefield Bad Company 2 (a quite old game), my cpu temperature rises to 95+ degrees. I'm scared of this because it's commonly known that if you game and your laptop goes above 80-85 degrees while gaming for a longer period of time, your pc's lifespan goes down a ton.
I compared my pc's heat to my sister's pc's heat (we both have identical pc's) with a game, and she got a temperature 10 degrees cooler than mine: Same level, same settings et cetera. She even had more processes running than I did at that time. We gamed on the same desk with the same space between the desk and fan.
I messaged Dell about the heat and they came here, replaced the Motherboard and Fan and they also applied new cooling paste. After this my pc still went up to 90+ degrees. I only got it down when I was playing with a resolution of 800 by 600 in windowed mode.
What can I do about this? I'm scared of my laptop lifespan because I also use it for my studies, and don't wanna lose my work in an instant. Any help or advice?

Multi finger mousepad gestures not working on dell 15z inspiron ultrabook
I just bought a new laptop , and explored the one finger, two finger, three finger and four fingers gestures of the Dell 15 Z inspiron ultrabook . I was so excited to use it , but the next day itself, it stopped working. I tried changing the settings, restarting my system, but all in vain. I have been unable to use all the finger gestures except single finger.

I have a Latitude ST128 which the previous owner had installed windows 8 over the win 7, while 8 was on there I was able to use the tablet as a camera and take photos, but since taking windows 8 of and reinstalling windows 7 professional I cannot find how to take photos with the tab. Can anyone enlighten me as to where I find it or do I need a third party program to be able to use it as a camera
