Inspiron N7110 recovery and drivers

$

I am at my wits end and I'm hoping someone can help.  Something happened to my N7110 and it will not boot.  It starts to boot, everything looks fine, gets past the Windows splash screen, but the desktop never appears -- just the wallpaper with a mouse cursor sitting in the middle.

Every other boot option ends the same way, if it gets that far.

I have lost all of the original materials -- it turns out I kept an old Dimension ResourceCD with Windows 98 and got rid of the CD for this machine by mistake.  I've downloaded the Windows 7 ISO from Microsoft, and used their tool to make a bootable USB drive, but now I'm running into an error about a missing CD/DVD driver.  I've learned from other threads that this is probably actually a harddrive/SATA issue, and I need to download the driver from Dell for it.

Ok, that's great.  But I can't figure out how to get the driver because the Dell support site wants to scan the computer to confirm the correct drivers and configuration before allowing a download.  But I can't boot the machine to access the dell website without the driver.

Any suggestions out there?

Thank you!

Inspiron 14 from preparing automatic repair to a blank screen

Hi,

I been having difficulties in starting up my laptop for many days. Initially it keeps getting stuck at the Dell logo which says that it is preparing automatic repair. I have read on the forums that I should try to run diagnostics by hitting F12 repeatedly. However when I did that, the screen is now blank. There is power, light indicates it is turned on, but nothing on the screen. What can I do? Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Replacement of Seagate Momentus thin with WD Black 750/7200 RPM drive (supplied as option by Dell)

Ordered the WD Black750 GB/7200 drives as it was a purchase option for Inspiron 11-3147.  I've opened that thing up about 5x times trying to elegantly get the WD in and no matter what I do, there is a slight bow/flexing of the keyboard/cover.

It just doesn't seem to fit... ?  There's no pieces/parts to remove that would provide more clearance so I'm trying to figure out why Dell would offer a HD that causes the product to bow/flex and sit awkward.

Any clue out there?  Thanks!

I just purchased an Inspiron 15 3542 laptop with i3 processor and installed windows 7.  I have downloaded and installed all the necessary drivers.

I can see the bluetooth icon in the taskbar and in the settings I've checked all the relevant boxes as well like "Allow other devices to find this computer" and "Allow bluetooth devices to connect to this computer".

Still it isn't able to search for any bluetooth devices and any bluetooth device is not able to find it too.

Please help.

Inspiron 500m + Docking station PD01X (bios or?)

Hello to everyone.

I have an old Inspiron 500m in perfect condition, upgraded with 2 gb ram and 160 gb hdd. :)

Recently, I got a docking station PD01X.

Is there any way to use the docking station with Inspiron 500m?

Maybe loading a Latitude d500 bios (D500_A10.exe)?

Eventually, will I have the possibility to move back to the Inspiron 500m bios if I change into a d500?

Has anyone experienced changing a Latitude bios into an Inspiron?

I also noticed that, in Inspiron 500m driver page, bios is different - it's reported Dell Inspiron 600m System BIOS, A17:

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/inspiron-500m/drivers

@Dell: can you confirm? Maybe it's a mistake? Can I receive the last Inspiron 500m bios (I am actually mounting 500m_A08)?

Thanks!

Hello,

i am so pissed that my laptop keeps restarting, again and again and again. it's running Windows 7 Home Premium. been using it for more than 3 years now, this is the first problem i hv with the laptop. i believe the problem starts when i accidentally clicked 'YES' on the Adobe Flash player updates. starting on, i get windows explorer not responding error, screen freeze and slow system. then, i started to believe there has been virus detected. so here's what i did:

1. i scanned with AVG 2014 & Malwarebytes (later installed. my pc were installed with McAfee). lots of threats detected! everything were removed.

2. uninstall every programs that i suspect infected; CODMW3 games, fancy cursors, torrent

3. still got 'windows explorer not responding'

4. run sfc check. no problem.

5. delete any unwanted files in D

6. i tried to reinstall my CODMW3 (love it too much that i can't live without it). i fall asleep in the middle of the installation process. battery was dead. the next morning i woke up, turning on the laptop, it won't even successfully load, then self-restart again and again.

7. run the dell pc diagnostic from the boot screen. no errors detected. exit. start-restart-restart-restart and i'm getting crazy!

please help! and oh, it's company's property.

Dell Inspiron 3531 DDR3 or DDR3L ?

$

HI everyone,

i'm new to the community and i have a question.

i've bought the Dell Inspiron 3531 and i saw that from dell store it comes with 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz Ram and Celeron N2830.

On intel site the N2830 requires only DDR3L Ram that runs at a lower voltage, 1.35V instead of 1.5V like DDR3.

Intel support told me that is not good to use DDR3 at 1.5V on the SoC N2830.

Now, i would like to know if the DDR3 shipped with my notebook are DDR3 at 1.35V or classic DDR3 at 1.5V. I called the Italian support where i live and them didn't know it. If i search on the DELL store for a ram upgrade to the inspiron 3531 it gives me DDR3L and not DDR3.

Sorry for my little confusion, but i don't want to use my notebook with a non correct hardware.

Thank You

Hi,

I have the XPS L511z with following configuration:

- Windows 7

- BIOS A12

The battery is replaced already.

Without the battery the laptop works with the charger.

With the battery (Windows 7)

0% available (plugged in, not charging)

With the BIOS the battery is recolonized.

Please advise.

DVD not reading, spinning and not ejecting

My sisters laptop (she says it's studio 15) doesn't read DVDs, when inserted they spin and make a continuous noise about once every secon, the DVDs also won't eject when this happens so I have to turn off the laptop and restart it so I can press eject before it starts reading it or it just continues spinning and make the noise while the laptop is on

It doesn't always happen but when it does it continues until the laptop has been shut off for a few hours and I have no idea wth is happening

And it does not happen to specific DVDs, DVDs that worked just fine might get stuck on a later day

Dell XPS Tablet won't power on?

I've had this tablet for over a year, but I haven't really used it until yesterday. I plugged it into the wall, and let it charge the normal 4 hours. Still after that, nothing happened. I did the "unplug, hold power button for 10-15 seconds, then plug back in for an hour" suggestion. Still nothing. I know that this tablet is no longer being sold, but it's also only been out of the box one other time. There's no reason for it to not power on. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get it to power on?

Lock screen freezes after pressing CTRL + ALT + Del on Dell Vostro 3700 - Windows 7

Hi there,

I was wondering whether anyone could give me some pointers on how to resolve this issue, I have performed the same steps as what I have mentioned in one of my other forum threads http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3514/t/19602856, but luckily enough the power option for the power button hasn't been changed unlike the computer mentioned in the link provided nor has the disk got a bad sector, however I can only work out a temporary fix and that is to either perform a Check Disk, put the laptop to sleep by either pressing the power button or closing the lid before powering it back on again using the power button or opening the lid back up and then pressing power button or sometimes even a remote shutdown using Command Prompt. I have even amended the sleep and hibernate values to never in the power options and that doesn't seem to have fixed it either. Your help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,
