Hi. I have inspiron M5110, with A8 3500M processor and also it has 6620G2 video card i think. 

But my motherboard is not working, i think its integrated video card is broken or something. I want to buy one M5110 only for its motherboard, and sell all other parts. But the other inspiron M5110 has A4 3300M, and also i think 6480G video card, not the same as A8 3500M. 

The question i want to ask is, will this motherboard work, with A8 3500M on it, while it has another video card(6480G and not 6620G2) on it. Please answer me as quick as you can because the laptop i want to buy it can not last for long. Thank you

I went to this page:

and downloaded the finger print drivers and installed them buy running the install as admin.

I am running Windows 8.1 Professional.

The drivers seemed to install properly (installer said it was successful) but I can't seem to figure out how to use my finger print reader in Windows 8.1.

I went into the device manager. There is still ONE unknown device and I can't seem to find the finger printer reader device so I am assuming the unknown is still the finger print reader.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dell 15 3521

F3 Is supposed to turn touchpad off and on and it doesn't.

Do I need a touchpad driver.?

Also System Detect program wont download runs awhile then displays message it didn't successfully download.

Any help with these problems greatly appreciated.

Whenever I close my laptop, it seems to properly go 'to sleep'.  But sometimes when I return to it and press the power button, instead of awakening it tells me that the computer has reset.  I'll see a message saying that Windows shut-down improperly and it asks whether I want to start Windows normally.

What are the best steps to trouble-shoot this?

Original Dell laptop battery was dying and also had to jiggle the power cord for it to charge. Then I replaced the DC power jack several months ago. At that time I also purchased a new Dell laptop battery. Those steps worked flawlessly with no issues until last night.

Now neither the old or new Dell battery will charge from the AC power adapter (or charge very long) when the laptop is on. If the laptop is off both the old battery will charge.

The new battery gives 4 amber / yellow blinks then a white one on the power indicator. The last time I had it on it blackscreened on me.

The old battery gives the solid yellow which turns white after charging a while.

Motherboard tests didn't show any errors. Nothing in a full virus scan. The only other odd thing is going to Start>Shutdown the other day did nothing.

Tried uninstalling the AC adapter drivers and having them auto-reinstall. No dice.

15 month old laptop has grown very flaky but all tests for malware or hardware indicate no issues.  Generally the windows 8.1 machine is almost unusable. Tests have included: System Mechanic, Power on System Analysis, CHKDSK, Windows Malware removal tool.  Dell driver update has been able to bring everything up to date (apparently?).  Using Command Prompt "ipconfig /flushdns" often brings on a brief period of usability of a web browser (same basic behavior with IE, Chrome, Firefox).  This was how I got to use the driver update utilities from Dell

*this is my first time ever posting, so apologies if this ends up somewhere it doesn't belong*

brand new Alienware 17 was delivered today. loving it so far. [Y] ... but not quite loving that there is no webcam software (my mx17 had Live! Central included). "no matter", I thought to myself and found a potential way to obtain that software via My Dell Downloads.

I have the mx17 registered and attempted to register this new one, but the green "register" button disappears immediately after it is clicked, and one can see what looks like a red loading circle within that very short timespan. why is this occurring? I even used a different computer and nada still. just as frustrating is the fact that now I can't seem to even sign into my My Dell Downloads. "An error has occurred when attempting to sign you into your account". it seemed as though I was maybe lucky to have signed on at all when I first did. [*-)]

Dell XPS M1530 Alps Touchpad not seen in Fedora 20 - 3.15.10-201.fc20.x86_64 - will not scroll . Fedora 20 loads it as a mouse.  The Alps Touchpad works in Vista, so it isn't broke.  Has anyone been able to fix this issue in Fedora 20 - there doesn't appear to be a drive for it.

i am using inspiron 1720 and i would like to upgrade the os to win 7.. but i am unable to find the suitable drivers for win 7 so please any one could help out..

my bios A07.. is it necessary to upgrade the bios as well let me know.. and what about win 7 x 64 drivers if possible let me know the procedure to upgrading of my laptop

I purchased an Inspiron 11 3147 with what appears to have a non K-Slot security slot. However I have been unable to find out what kind of slot it is. Along with the laptop I bought a Kensington security cable (Dell part number A5883764). The bar on the cable is too wide to fit into the slot on the notebook. The cable fits fine into my other devices with a k-slot. The only explanation I can come up with is that Dell just didn't make the slot big enough, which I also find hard to believe.

I opened a case with Dell, but the support tech was not able to find a compatible security cable and advised that I contact Kensington.

Attached is a picture showing the slot and cable.

Has anyone else had similar problems?

I want use an external monitor & keyboard on my Dell Precision Laptop.   I choose eitherduplicate or Projector Only but when I close the lid the machine goes to sleep.    How can I close the lid & keep it running.

This an odd one. I cannot online pay Verizon. After many hours on the phone with Verizon, a tech casually mentioned if I had tried it on another laptop as they could find absolutely no reason on their end why it shouldn't work. I felt like an idiot as I had not. I tried it with my wife's Dell 15R & had no problem. I have no problem making online payments to any other vendor. This computer only & to Verizon only does this problem occur. Help!

I have a Dell 14z-N411z Laptop.

The laptop is now freezing whenever I try to access any files but works fine if I am just browsing the internet or opening up microsoft office etc.

Leading up to this problem, my battery failed about 3 months ago and I didn't replace it until recently. During this time the Laptop was used by hooking up the A/C Adapter. More than a few times, it was turned off abruptly by removing the a/c adapter or just by pressing and holding the power button.

I am thinking that many of my files may be corrupted because of this. Or is my HD failing? 

Will a complete factory reset and wipe be able to fix this issue? I can still browse the internet, open up applications etc fine I just cannot open files without the computer freezing up on me.

My laptop I haven't had for a year as yet and haven't used that much and im having issues when I try to turn it on it goes into a mode of no screen just the lights on the front showing on and making a noise like a bouncing ball?

I have to take my battery out for it to shut off , and I leave for a bit and go back to it it may do this two to three times and all of a sudden it will kick in and load up is it something I should press like the F 8 or ex one of these to make it come back on correctly?Ive noticed it more when I just push the button to shot off before battery dies or I don't want to sign out correctly and just push the off button? can you help me figure this out please its seems to be a simple problem but very flustrating when im trying to get online and cannot get the computer to come on??

My 11 month old Inspiron 15 has frozen 3 times in the past week.  After about 30 minutes of use each of those times, the screen freezes, the touchpad does not respond, and hitting Control Alt Delete does nothing.  I have powered off and rebooted each time and was able to continue my work.  I ran Hard Disk Diagnostics and all came back ok.  What could be causing this?   Could it be an overheating problem?  I did not have the laptop on a soft surface and the bottom did not feel hot.

After I ran the diagnostics, I got a report saying that my warranty is good through 1/23/2015 for Limited Tech Support from Dell and "Rapid Response Depot" from CTS also thru 1/23/2015.  Who or what is CTS?

Totally amazed.  Just purchased above unit. Can't find out how to turn on the backlit keyboard? I know it has one because it says so on the sticker on the base of the keyboard. Help please.
