I purchased a dell Inspiron 14-5447 two weeks ago, and I am already experiencing major issues with it.

The computer randomly crashes, and restarts very often. More then every hour usually. Sometimes I get a blue screen, but I don't always. Some error messages I have received include kmode_exception_not_handled, irql_not_less_or_equal, refrence_by_pointer

I have also noticed if I tilt the computer the screen spazzes out, and if I turn it upside down it will completely shut down 

These are not normal problems for a brand new laptop, any suggestions to fix it?

kind Dell Technical support,

i wish activate the Intel vPro and intel T.X.T. features on one dell XPS 13 with I7-2637m cpu ( chipset QS67 ) and TPM 1.2 microchip.

the I7-2637m is suitable to Intel vPro technology ( like T.X.T.  and I.P.T. ecc ) but the bios settings don't have nothing for activate T.X.T. and intel vPro.

is possible activate them on this pc ( configured like stand-alone pc )? and how i can to do?

My dell inspiron15 makes beeping sounds every time i on my laptop and it doesn't turn on. It makes beeping sounds countinuosly and uniformly.can u please suggest me a solution

My dell Inspiron 5323 a year old was working fine till last night.

Today morning on pressing the power button the dell logo came on

the screen lit up but did not fully boot up.I switched it off by pressing

The power button and tried powering again but it was dead.I then connected

The AC adaptor which worked and the laptop charging light was on but the

battery light never came on.Tried this 2to3 times but the same result.

Could someone help?

hi 

i have a huge problem with my power button as i have set it to do nothing when it is pressed and it shuts down my computer evry time what could be the problem causing this and help would be appreciated

I own a Dell XPS 15 L502X. The control strip that is next to the power button has suddenly stopped working and overheats to extreme temperatures. As a result, the connector cable has been heated to a crisp and heats up the right palmrest to uncomfortable temperatures. This is rather worrying as I do not want my laptop fried by an unnecessary luxury feature gone bad.

I would have snipped the cable to fix this issue, if only the same cable did not also supply the power button; the control strip and power button are contained in a single unit (terrible design there). I would appreciate it if anybody could point me to where I can buy a replacement for the control strip and power button unit. Or any fix, really. I am unable to use my laptop for fear of causing further damage due to overheating. Please, please help.

Hello,

I have a Dell XPS L501X laptop. It can't recognize a SanDisk Ultra 16GB SDHC memory card using the internal card reader. I managed to work around this using an external card reader.

I'm using this memory card:

My 4 year old Studio 1558 appears to be dead. My son was using it to play games and it just died on him. This is not totally unusual as we have had problems with overheating in the past but he had it running on a cooling pad. Since then, we have been unable to get it up and running again.

The power light comes on and the fan is running but the screen is black. I have tried the 30 second power button with the battery removed trick but with no luck. I have also switched the power on whilst holding down the D key which causes the screen to flash through a series of different colours.

After Factory Restore can no longer log on.

I am helping a friend with her grandson's computer. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron N5050 with Win7. He apparently acquired a rootkit  (virus protection had lapsed a year ago). I obtained his user name and password and, after multiple recovery attempts, restored the computer back to factory settings. Now, the user name and/or password are not recognized. I have checked with grandmother, father, grandson, etc. and they insist that I have the correct user name and password, yet I cannot log on. Any suggestions? I am a retired computer science teacher and help friends with their computers, especially when the family cannot afford to pay for assistance as in this case.

hi dell team

i purchased the system 5 days ago.

my system config is

core i3 2nd gen

4gb ram

500 gb hdd

shipped with ubuntu currently running win 8.1

battery backup 6 cell model - 4 hrs

the laptop is getting heated up for no valid reason and left area till mousepad is hot even after 15 mins of usage

i have updated the latest bios also.

the system has 2 yrs of warranty

pls help soon as i am unable to use system  due to its heating problem.

I' ve just received my new Ultrabook 13 (9333) with I7, 8GB Ram and 256 GB HDD and i'm very happy.

The laptop came with Ubuntu, so i had to install Windows 8.1. I connected an external USB CD-Rom and i started the installation. After the first settings of Language Preferences, i deleted all the partitions, i left only one and installation started. At 3-4% of the first step, it apperead an error message that cannot continue because some files are missing (something like that). First i thought that the media had a problem.
 I changed the media with another and try it again. The same error... i changed the usb port and then again the same error. At next reboot i realised that I couldn't access BIOS. Neither F2 or F12 is doing something...

I powered on the laptop with FN+power on button and the diagnostic tools appeared no errors.

I could not install windows 8.1, there is no BIOS...

Any idea ?

I am confused:

On 'My Dell' it says: Memory - 4gb installed of 16gb supported.

However I have seen posts on here that suggest that the laptop can only take 8gb memory.

And Dell do not appear to sell memory above 4gb (though my manual has a picture which suggests there are 4 memory slots, which would make 16gb memory feasible).

Can anyone give me a definitive answer as to how much memory this laptop can take please. And if the answer is 8gb, then why does 'My Dell' say 16gb?

Also regarding the hard drive. I have looked on the Dell site for a replacement hard drive but they do not seem to offer one. So if I ever needed to replace the drive, or wanted to replace it with one of a higher capacity, would I have to look elsewhere than Dell for this?

I do not need to replace my hard drive now, but as my OS (Win 8.1) appears to be licenced to this machine only, I believe that, in the event of a hard drive failure, I would need to replace it with an exact copy in order to restore my OS, hence wanting to find out if Dell offer these.

And finally. I downloaded a copy of the manual for my laptop from Dell, assuming this would be a complete guide, but it is only related to replacing various parts. Can anyone tell me if there is a manual/guide that will tell me about the laptop itself (things like which F key to press if I need to get into the boot menu and other useful stuff) and where to find it.

I replaced my inspiron 5521 screen but i only get a partially lit screen with no bios startup screen. i know i have it installed right because i can plug my old broken screen up and it works as before. the parts numbers are the same on the back of each screen. what am i doing wrong?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1440. When I press the power on, the power button lights up and goes out 5 seconds later. That is, the Dell screen never comes. Very rarely, it starts up, shows the Dell screen, then shows "Starting Windows", then shows the cursor but is unable to go to the screen where I can insert my password and login. Please help.

Post upgrading to Windows 8.1 Pro, only 1 of the USB ports has stopped working. The other 2 are working fine. I have the latest BIOS A16.

Any ideas how to fix.

Hi,

I have a problem after I upgraded my video drivers. It appears that after loading Catalyst 14.4 I am no longer able to use the switchable software tool. It no longer appears when I right click my desktop. It seems I am in the AMD 6970 all the time. First, will this cause an issue with my laptop? Second how do I restore the switchable software?

I really can live with the AMD being primary, I dont run from battery very often. I am mainly concerned with damaging my laptop.

Hello, I have a Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop that I have been using for a year now. I was working perfectly fine until today when I saw that the laptop has stopped charging the battery after 48%. I checked the battery power options and nothings seems amiss. I ran the dell diagnostics on the battery and it shows that the battery is fine. Could someone guide me what could be the problem and to fix it? Thanks BRgrds Jollyn

Hi, everyone, I have a Dell Inspiron 7537 and...

...Ever since I updated my software from windows 8 to windows 8.1 I lost all the features displayed on the windows mobility center related to the cutomized section from dell. I had to download the drivers to get the gestures configurations for the mousepad, the same happened with the audio drivers I downloaded both from the dell site, but i can't control the usage of the backlight of my keyboard, It turns off like every 20 seconds when there's no activity, and I want to configure it differently and get back the cutomized section of the mobility center, 

it used to look like this

please help!
