Here is the incident. 

I was trying to re-install my phone software using Nokia OVI suit. Then suddenly blue screen appear in my laptop and it said that your computer experiencing somekind of a error   

"Kernel security check failure " is the error it showed me. Is this the problem with my RAM ?? (please say no)

I have never came across  this error before this is the first time. 

It happened twice.

And i had been complaining about a slight lag of video and audio while im watching a moive. And it happened after approx 30 mins later. 

My laptop is Dell inspiron 15r special edition. and im using windows 8. 

Core i5 (3rd generation) , 6gb RAM, 2GB video card, 750GB hard drive is my hardware configuration.

I bought this laptop last week.  Within two days it developed a boot configuration error and would not reboot.  It came with Windows 8 installed so I had to order the installation disc and the drivers disc.  Last night I reinstalled Windows 8 successfully, but when the machine rebooted it showed the "checking media" message before the logo appeared.  My questions are:

1)  Do I need to be concerned about the checking media message since the computer seems to be booting ok?

2)  Is there any need for me to reinstall what's on the drivers disc?

3)  Since this is such a new purchase, should I just exchange the laptop?

4)  If I do exchange the laptop, will the installation disc work if I get the configuration error down the road?

Hallo,

ich bin neu hier und bin unsicher welchen Dell Inspiron 17R SP ich mir kaufen soll. Mich Interessiert in erster Linie das Inspiron für z.Z. 1099,- aber ich frage mich ob der 3D Bildschirm sinnvoll ist und ob den in der Zukunft vermehrt brauchen werde. Es wäe nett wenn ich da ein paar Tipps bekommen könnte.

Dann überlege ich, wenn die 3D Ausführung keine große Zukunft hat, ob es sinnvoller ist den für z.Z. 859,- zu kaufen und den mit einer ssd aufzurüsten.  Ach so, was bedeutet das genau: 2 x 1 TB, 5.400 1/min, mit 32 GB mSATA-SSD ??? Mich verwirren die 32 GB. Sind das nun 2TB + 32GB oder eine einfache Festplatte mit 1TB und eine Festplatte ssd mit 1TB ? Ich kann mit den 32 GB nichts anfangen. Dazu muß ich sagen, dass ich mich nicht wirklich gut mit der Materie auskenne und immer noch ein by CouponDropDown">Notebook mit Vista habe ;-) aber jetzt muss dringend ein neues her.

Zu meinen Anforderungen gehört, dass ich das Notebook im Multimediabereich und zum by CouponDropDown">spielen nutzen möchte was diese Geräte ja auch bieten. Ich denke, dass Spiele in 3D wohl nicht so gut laufen werden was mich nicht weiter stört aber ich kann mir gut vorstellen viel Freude an 3D Filmen haben werde.

We have taken delivery of some of these which unexpectedly came with 32GB MSATA SSDs in them in addition to the 500GB HDD.

When we have installed all our corporate software and try and clone an image of the machine to restore to another 3360 of the same spec, we are unable to reboot the machine we have restored to.

I'm guessing this is something to do with the 32GB MSATA SSD being used as some sort of boot disk/RAIDed cache using Intel Smart something or other technology.

Can anyone give any pointers as to what we should be looking tot do to image/restore these machines?

I have a dell 5521 running Windows 7 Home Premium.  I have only had it a few weeks.

Data Management shows me 3 partitions ... Dell Utility, Recovery and OS C:.

I thought that if I ever wanted to set my PC back to original factory settings I could use the Recovery Partition (via F8).

IS THAT TRUE????

Online I found directions on how to Create Recovery Disks using Dell Datasafe.  Should I also be creating these recovery disks.

I wish the PC came with some sort of documentation.

hello i have a dell inspiron 15r. i recently got a 9 cell battery off amazon. i love it. it works great. one thing i was wondering. i currently have 3 chargers i use. i have 2 PA-12 family chargers 65WATT (1 PA-12 came with my old dell duo docking station, just looks like a normal one. the 2nd is one that lets you fold it up and wrap it up) it charges my laptop fine however it gets really hot when i am charging the battery and using the laptop. my 2nd charger i have my dad (it was his old lapotp) gave me a duracell 90WATT charger. they all work. one question i did have is. will my 90watt charge it faster? i know a little about electricity, i know my phone will charge faster with a higher amp charger. is it the same for the watts? and is it safe to use my 65watt chargers on my laptop with the 9 cell battery?

I have a dell Inspirion N5110 i7 . I get a continuous beep sound when the laptop starts . But it stop as soon as the windows starts . I have done a full Hard drive checkup using the Dell Support Center ( Powered by PC-Doctor ) and it has passed the test . Please tell what might be the problem. Could it be a Bios problem ?

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS L702X.

Is the Sandisk Ultra Plus SSD 256gb drive compatible with it?

Also, I have a back up and driver CD's that I ordered with the Laptop. Do these contain Windows only or all the system as at factory?

Add this to the long list of problems I'm having with my touchpad on my XPS 15.

The computer keeps switching to the modern view when I am typing in the desktop view (Windows 8 obviously).  My cursor is no where near any corners or sides of the screen so I have no idea why it is doing this.

I have disabled all gestures other than scrolling.

 

Can anyone help please?

Hi,

I'd been having problems with the fan in my laptop going on/off all the time and read a fix about uninstalling the NVIDIA graphics driver and updating BIOS to A12 and since then I haven't been able to put my laptop into sleep mode. Whenever I close the lid of the laptop or use the shortcut to enter sleep mode it enters directly to hibernation. I thought it was a problem with the BIOS so reset it to A06 but to no avail.

I tried fixing it by going through power options and control panel however when I go to the 'when I close the lid:' option there is no sleep option there which is frustrating. 

Currently running on 64bit windows 7. It's really frustrating as I'm used to just closing the laptop and it entering sleep mode.

Hi, after a week of using this convertible Laptop, I love it, every thing is great, but one point I feel so upset is the smoothness in handwriting of capacitive stylus, I tried JustMobile Alu Pen and Jot Adonit classic, both didn't create a smooth letter output as I use them on the iPad4. I tried on different note taking app but it doesn't make much difference. I wonder why both the iPad and Dell use the capacitive touchscreen technology, but iPad can make writing much better, will there be any way to improve this writing on Dell Xps 12 ?

Hi!
Decided to purchase SSD capacity 512GB and interface sata 3.0. Can anyone help me in some places read that some supposedly does not support SSD larger than the capacity of 256GB!? Is that true?, Who can confidently answer me?
And I also wanted to know what I have is an interface on a laptop sata sata 3.0 or 2.0? specification such as sata 3.0.

I have Upgraded dell m6300 cpu to x9000 from T7500 but cpu overheating.

I cleaned the fans - does not solve the problem.

If working with IE/words such then everything is OK.

But if working with softwares that takes 80% CPU and more than after few minutes computer shutdown - usually at CPU 103C degrees.

Fans works but are not working at full speed.

Sometimes they works in full speeds but just for few seconds (1-3 sec) then goes to low speed even when CPU is in 100C.

I reinstalled chipset from dell site - did not solve the problem.

I know m6300 supports x9000 so what is the problem?

Why Fans are not working in full speed to cool cpu when needed?

I didn't see a "General Software Forum" so I figured I would post here. I recently purchased an AlienWare M17x from a friend and want to reinstall the OS. It has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Is there a preferred method that will retain all of the "AlienWare" logos and drivers required and such or do I just reload and search for all the drivers myself? There's no D:/ drive with the drivers and such...

Saben si venden piezas como las "caratulas" o partes plásticas exteriores (digamos que el cascaron) para las Studio 1535 o similares, ya que la parte donde se enciende y donde tenia un botón para ver la intensidad de las redes WiFi están completamente quebradas y pues surge la incertidumbre que pueda quedar inservible mi laptop

Help! My laptop boots but nothing appears on the screen and it is beeping 8x continously. I tried connecting it to a monitor via a cable and this appears:

When I choose start windows normally, the laptops BSODS and hangs so I am forced to force shutdown it but when I choose safe mode, it boots but  the window  looks like the latter picture (rainbow colored, thick vertical lines) but much blurry. Help anyone?!? It looks like this:
