I have a M6600 with Windows 7 x64bit.  While I am in windows, it fails charge.  It says "82% available(plugged in, not charging)".  I tried 3 different power adapters, including port replicator, but it shows same problem.  However, if computer is plugged in, but not in windows, such bios setting, it charges without problem. The bios diagnostics shows that there is no issue with battery or charging.  What could be wrong?  Upgrading to BIOS ver. 9 did not help either.

I have a M6600 with Windows 7 x64bit. while I am in windows or using autodesk maya, it fails to charge. it says "60% available(plugged in, charging) , then it says remaining 60% then, 60% available(plugged in, charging)" I tried to unplug the AC then plug it again then it repeats. I also tried uninstalling the ac at device manager but its no use. I also tried to take off the battery and then put it on but it also repeats the problem. by the why I tried to take off the battery and plug the AC it boots but it shuts down immediately after the windows logo appears. what could be the problem?

I can't enter my XPS 17's BIOS.

I bought my XPS 17(L702X) 3 years ago. And today I found that I can't enter my laptop's BIOS now. I don't remember when is the last time I tried to enter the BIOS, but I do remember in that time this is functional.

Well the situation is that I can use my Operating systems (WIndows 8.1 and Ubuntu Kylin) normally, and I can enter the boot options (press f12 when powered on). But when I try to enter the BIOS (press f2 when starting or in boot options choose setup), the screen just went black. In fact ,before it goes to black, at the left-top there is a flashing little dash, as it is processing the entering, but after that, no thing but a black screen. The fan is just working as normal, but nothing on the screen.

I tried to flash the BIOS (A19 to A19 to A18 to A19 again), I tried to release the electricity in the CMOS by unplug the adapter and take off the batteries, both computer's battery and the CMOS battery beneath the touchpad. And I tried to remove all the hard drives, the CD-Drive and even the memory, And I tried to unplug the adapter and remove battery and push the power button for 20s just as what I saw in another question's answer in this forum. But unfortunately, nothing works.

So, I really hope someone could help me out. Thank you very much!

E5510 BIOS update failure

I am Japanese Dell User.
My laptop is E5510, and BIOS version is A07.
Though original OS of my E5510 is Windowes7 pro 32bit, I am trying to change os to Windows 7 Pro SP-1 64bit version.
But , 64bit OS installation was failed.
Clean install of 64bit OS was passed.
However at device driver installation stage, I encountered windows 7 installation error.
Based on dell instruction, I installed  Dell System Software, Intel Chipset installation utility, Ricoh R5U24X, Intel AMT HEIC, Audio device Driver, Video Driver.
Then I installed NIC driver (Broadcom 57XX GIGABIT controller, Intel wireless network driver), Dell Multi-touch touchpad, Windows installation was failed and shift to recovery installation mode. But Recovery failed.

I think BIOS update is one of possibility to solve 64bit OS installation problem, I planned BOS updating A7 to latest revision(A16)).

By dell web, BIOS revision A9 and previous revision should be updated A10, andthen updated A10 to A11, A12,,,, A16.
So, I plan to update BIOS by two steps, 1st step  A07 to A10, 2nd step A10 toA16.
But I failed BIOS update at 1st step(A07 toA10) as described below.
Of course, BIOS version is still A07.

1st trial : Under window7 environment, I download E5510A10.EXE on desktop.
By double-clicking E5510A10.exe, caution message appeared regarding BIOS update.
I clicked "OK" button on caution message to update BIOS, but nothing occurred..

2nd trial :Under windows7 commannd prompt mode.
I type desktop\E5510A10.exe (enter), but the result was as 1st trial.
After aborting BIOS update, winsows show message.
Message is in Japanese. I translate into English.
That is;

trouble event name:    APPCRASH

                       4:    0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789

3rd trial:
To initialize CMOS, removing/re-attaching main battery and coin battery was carried out.
After this action,, same procedure above 1st  trial was carried out.
But the result is as 1st trial.

Anyone to advise me the way to update BIOS.

Dell Inspiron 3537 Memory Upgrade

I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 and I bought a memory upgrade (G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 PC3-12800).

When I install both 8gb sticks the laptop wont boot, and it makes a repeating sound through what seems like an internal speaker.

Any idea why the sticks will not work...the specs for the memory upgrade seems to be alright, even though I notice that when I removed the original memory sticks it says on the PC board that it supports ddr3L.

Is ddr3L backwards compatible with ddr3?

MouseKeys and lack of NumberKeypad

I just purchased the Dell XPS 15 (9530) Laptop and it lacks the numberpad making it impossible to use my mousekeys for a specific game I play.  I have googled to find an alternative way to use mousekeys on this laptop and have not been able to find anything that works.  My next thought was to by and external number keypad to hook in via a USB port. However, I would have no idea if that would work or what would be compatible to purchast for this computer.  I am on the verge of just bringing it back to the store I purchased from because I am very unhappy with this.

Any suggestions or thoughts would be happily accepted.. Thank you.....

Inspiron driver issue?

I have an old Inspiron 1525 that I mainly use for internet. I'm running Windows Vista SP2 32-bit. I know I should upgrade, but it's served its purpose until last month. The problems started suddenly, even though I didn't make any changes that day. I do have an antivirus program that hasn't detected anything since then. Most of the time it just freezes, but I do get the rare blue screen. I've had to use safe mode with networking most days. Sometimes I'll just leave it on for days so it won't freeze when I try to start up. I was able to capture the blue screen details that I'll post below. From what I've gathered, it could be a problem with the wireless driver, but I'm computer illiterate.

Dell 7720 Laptop shuts down 2 seconds after boot

$

Hi everyone

I have a Dell 17R SE 7220 laptop. I regularly clean its heatsink and fan assemble every 2-3 months to keep it running cool, because once the GPU was fried up and was replaced and serviced by Dell. My laptop is still under warranty.

This time it had been a while since i did that, and the laptop overheated too much. Even when using Google Earth, it would heat up and turn itself off, GPU temperatures soaring above 90 degrees  Celsius..

This one time it got shutdown while i was away. I came back and found it off. Thought it would be another overheated-auto turn-off. I started it up, but then  it refused to start up.

When i press power button, the keyboard lights up, the quickset buttons blink, the Power/HDD indicators light up. and in 2 secs it turns off. The fan does not start spinning though. But that might be because the laptop doesn't get heated up enough for fan to start up. I have checked again for any loose connections, reseated HDD, RAM, Wifi, SSD etc (the ones located just inside the backboard, easily accessible) but nothing works. I tried it both on battery and AC power. I also tried discharging everything by removing battery and holding power button for  30 secs, but doesn't  work.

I've checked the forums. Somewhere it says that CPU pins mights be loose. Before opening it up again to re-seat everything on the system board, I'd like to know if there is an easy solution for this.

XPS 15 (9530) NFC (Near Field Communications)

Hello, I have a XPS 15 (9530) Ultrabook with NFC, but cannot seem to get any device to pair with it, so don't even know if the NFC is working or not! I am unable to find any mention of an NFC device in the Windows Device Manager either, so am wondering if their is a problem with NFC on the computer. So . . . 1. Has anyone else with an XPS 15 with NFC managed to pair any other NFC device with their computer? 2. Should I be able to see an NFC device in the device manager? 3. Can you turn NFC On\Off on the XPS 15 - If YES, how?? 4. I believe from the computer literature for the XPS 15 that the NFC detection is fitted in front of the touchpad on the top of the computer, and this is where I should 'Tap to Pair' - Is this correct? (I want to make sure I am at least trying to pair in the right location!) Any advice that can be offered on how to diagnose, use and pair with the NFC would be very much appreciated. Thank you :-)

USB ports don't all work and docking station USB ports do not work

Hello

I have a Dell Latitude E6430 laptop running windows 7 64-bit.  When I try to use it with a docking station, the USB ports on the docking station do not work.  When I try to use a USB mouse with it, it only works with one of the USB ports.  When I try using my printer (HP laserjet 1320) through the USB ports, it doesn't work (it did previously with a Dell latitude E6430 running windows 7 64-bit).

I've installed the latest BIOS upgrade, updated the USB and intel chipset drivers.  How do I get these working?  Thanks,

Dave
