I want to buy a Dell Inspiron 11 to use on my travels. 

Best Buy has version I3137-4725SLV for $360 and New Egg has version i3137-5003slv for $419. (Dell seems to be selling it for $429)

I can't find any difference except that the NewEgg version supposedly has an HDMI slot and the Best Buy one doesn't. (Not sure if this is true.)

Does anyone know the difference between the two and can share that with me?

Does this laptop come with the newer, thinner and lighter charger?

Don't all of the versions come with HDMI?

Hi all,

my Dell Ispiron 17R now is very slow at boot time, when I press the start button it needs up to 10 seconds to display the POST (10 seconds of black screen with the keybord lights on).

After that the boot is fast as ever

Always started a day when at boot was dispalyed a strange message that claims something about the date, infact computer started with a wrong date. I restarted, set the correct time but from that event the boot became to be slow...

I am having problem with Finger print reader and Persona Software.

It was working well when i got the laptop with window 8.0 SL . It had only Chinese language so i upgraded it to windows 8.1 Pro. It (upgrade adviser)asked me to un install  the persona software. which i did. After upgrade completed, I installed the persona software back (6.2) then also  installed the update (6.2.1.309) and it was working perfect.

Then i installed the mSATA in my laptop and fresh installed the Windows 8.1 Pro . I installed the drivers in proper order. And installed the persona software 6.2 and the update. But Now strange thing is that persona software can not connect to sensor! when ever i want to use finger print reader with persona it says can't connect to finger print reader .

I have installed the latest driver from dell for the sensor and windows own finger print log in is working perfect. But its limited to windows login only.

I want to use the persona software because it can be used with websites and also with applications .

I have already tried the windows 8 version of drivers with or without compatibility option but no success!

Any one have Idea how to make this work ?

Hello everybody!

can you please help me? I bought 2 days ago a brand new Inspiron 5521 and i have verey very big problems with the WIFi driver.

I downloaded all drivers from dell.com, but none works.

Bluetooth is ok, but no wireless!!!!!! Can you please help me????

Can anyone help please, my daughter give me a Dell latitude D630. Unfortunately while closing down the mains lead fell out this caused the computer to boot up to the ‘your computer failed to close down etc’. in an endless loop. As there was no backup disc or restore point I had an old copy of xp pro 64 which I loaded over the original xp32, I can’t now access the wireless internet. I have the following driver probs. Display adaptor (Standard VGA graphics Adapter) Modem Dev. Ven = HDAUDIO\FUNC_02&ven 14F1&DEV_2C06 SM BUS CON PCI\VEN_8086&dev_263e Video Controller PCI\VEN_8086&dev_2A03 Network Controller PCI\Ven 14e4&dev_4311 ETHERNET Con. PCI\VEN_14e4&Dev_ I have downloaded lots of drivers, hunted for 64 bit versions and find myself completely overwhelmed by the choices so if anyone can point me in right direction or even supply the required drivers with instructions I would be very grateful Thank you pieman100

I want to replace my primary drive with a solid state drive. The original drive from dell is working and I have created Recovery Media. The original hard drive is 831GB and the SSD is 128GB. I remove the original drive from the computer and put the SSD drive in the primary drive bay. I booted from the recovery CD and restore the boot partition. Everything seemed to work fine. After inserting the 3rd CD, the process of preparing my hard drive is complete and it says to reboot to finish. I click the "Finish" button and the computer reboots. However, I receive the error message "Operating System Not found". I tried a few more times to reboot, this time pressing the "F8" key during bootup and again pressing F12. Same results. I repeated the process twice with the same results. I also tried the 2nd option during recovery to restore both partitions, but it said that I would have to have a drive that is at least 931GB to use that option. What is the best way to install the dell OEM version of Windows 8 onto the new SSD Drive? I have the product key, but Microsoft won't allow me to download Win 8 without buying a new license.

I got my XPS 3 days ago and I've had the lingering issue of the computer not wanting to wake from sleep when I try to open the laptop again. The keyboard and power button lights up like it's working, but the screen never comes back on and I have to restart the computer. Any suggestions for this new computer to work without crashing?

I have done a fresh Windows 8 install. I have installed all drivers from dell support. Unfortuatelly device Manager reports Unknown Device ACPI\SMO8800.

I have found a solution for Windows 7 http://www.jdhodges.com/2011/10/acpis-mo8800-dell-unknown-device-driver-solved/.

Can anybody tell me:

1. Does that solution work in Windows 8?

2. Why drivers are missing from my dell support page?

I have a new Inspiron 15Z 5523.
I just bought a new copy of win 7.
When booting up the win7 install,
when it come us to secect the drive to install on,
there are no drives listed to install on.
What can I do to install win 7 on Inspiron 15Z?
Or what do I need to set or configure to install win7?

Hi,

I bought my Dell laptop about 2-3 years ago, and over the last 14 months I've had some heat issues. I have tried different 'power plans' to see if that affected the heat, but after about 5-10 minutes of usage the laptops temperature is 80c +. I have updated the BIOS and made sure everything is up to date. Even on a hard surface, it gets way too hot; I may be over reacting but I've used many laptops and none seem to have such issues.

Any replies are greatly appreciated.

I have noticed my "OS (C:)" drive is decreasing by 100 MB every now and then as long as Windows is running.

My system is Inspiron 15z 5523.

Hi,

I went and upgraded the bios in my E6410 from A05 through to A16 and selected the load defaults option in the A16 bios. As a result my laptop will not load Windows 7 any more, it comes up saying the load files have been damaged but isn't able to repair anything when it attempts to do so.

Any ideas on what I've done or how to fix it?

Can anyone help? I have an Inspiron 1555 using Windows 7 and while surfing the net I suddenly lost wireles connectivity and can't restore it. The router is not the culprit as other laptops are working fine and all diagnostics have been tried. I suspect that the wireless adapter has crapped out. The devise manager shows no problems with any of the wireless settings and availlable networks are seen, but cannot be connected to.

The only setting I can think of is the F2 wireless connect button and that has been checked.

Any suggestions?

I bought my laptop a few years ago, with Windows 7 already loaded & it's worked fine up till now.  Firefox started hanging up, so I switched to chrome.  A few days later, there was a note on the screen that my version was not genuine.  I tried restarting it, and now I get a black screen with nothing but the white cursor-arrow. 

When I first got it, I made recovery discs as instructed, and I've tried putting the first one in the CD drive & restarting.  I can hear the CD drive scanning, but have been getting the same results.  Is there any way to fix this?

I removed wireless dongle of KM113 wireless Key Board (KB) from my laptop. On reinsertion of dongle, I found that Keyboard is not working, while mouse is fine. Special keys on KB like Media Access, Calculator etc are working. Batteries have been checked and found correct. Tried restarting a number of times. Kindly advice procedure to get KB activated fully.

My laptop never recognises its adapter when I'm home in the UK.
Anywhere else in Europe or Asia the adapter works perfectly.
The adapter came with the laptop which was bought in the UK.

I'm guessing the issue has something to do with the different mains supplies,
but I cannot understand why this would be happening. Any ideas??

Gprahics: AMD Radeon 7730M and Intel HD Graphics 4000

I've never seen such a hot laptop, it can literally cook an egg for me. I can't place my laptop on my lap.

My problem is that whenever I start playing "CRYSIS 3" the temp starts increasing and after 20-30 mins. of gameplay the laptop gives up and turns off. Completely off, black screen. Then I need to press the power button (on the laptop) to turn it on again. This is quite frustrating. I mean is this normal ? or one day will I loose my lap

[Note: Previously I've played games like far cry 3, COD, Battlefield 4 the laptop has always been heating the same way, but never turned off. So the turning off thing worries me.]

Any help ?

Good evening,

I'm having an issue with my dell inspiron n411z laptop. Apparently it's blinking 4 orange and one white light. I just purchased a new 44wh battery. Now it would beep twice with the message. WARNING: the battery is not recommended for this system,  the system will be unable to charge this battery. Can someone please tell me what that mean I also checked the bios. The AC adapter type is on 65 W.
