I have a Latitude E6410. I had to format the hard drive and reinstalled the drivers and Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit.

Installing the free fall sensor driver poses a problem. There are two types of filed for the free fall sensor

1. Hard Drive:   ST-MICRO_FREE_FALL_SENSOR_A11_RCHTX_SETUP_ZPE.exe   (6MB)

2. Update package for Microsoft Windows:  Chipset_Driver_RCHTX_WN_2.00.10.34_A11.EXE   (12MB)

As per the installation instruction the update package must be installed and the the hard drive file. I installed the update package and had to restart the laptop to complete the installation. After the reboot I installed the hard drive file. It un-installed the previous installation, I had to reboot to complete the installation. Is this right or am I doing something wrong?

Hello, I receive there is 1 weeks ago a M6800 laptop with his port replicator. When the laptop is plugged to the port replicator and I press the power button (on the laptop or on the port replicator) the laptop starts but it is frozen immediatly and the big "DELL" logo is displayed. I do not see Windows starts screen and I can not enter in the BIOS. If I unplugged the laptop from the replicator station, it starts immedialty and it is work. If I plug the power charge on the laptop it starts immedialty and it is work. Something strange : I plug the laptop to the port replicator, I starts it, the starts process is frozen of course at the "DELL" logo. After that I unplugged the laptop (I do not shutdown it, so the laptop is still on), the laptop continue to starts until Windows. After that I plug the laptop to the port replicator and it is work... So I think the problem come with the port replicator detection at the BIOS level... What is the problem exactly ? How can I resolve it ? Best regards,

somehow managed to switch this on but cannot find any key labelled number lock in order to switch off.

Hello everybody,

I have this problem with my DELL VOSTRO 3500; when I press the power button the PC doesn't start up, instead the led flashes (together with the play/pause and the frontal power ones).

I already read and tried what is described here and here, with no success. In fact I didn't try to use another AC adapter/power cable, but I'm not sure that the problem is there. In my case the led flash every 5 seconds when I plug the power, while with the battery its only one time.

I also tried to remove parts one at the time: HDD, optical drive, RAM, button buttery and finally the entire palm rest, but I couldn't see anything relevant. Nothing changed.

Thing that might be a lot relevant is that I smell something like burnt plastic near the  network connector and USB port.

I bought this PC during winter 2010, and it had already a problem with the motherboard, that however had been changed immediately. I don't know if 3/4 years are a lot for such a machine (considering that I use it most of the time), however I also recently had a HDD failure, so I substitute the original one with a SAMSUNG 840 EvO SSD 2.5''. I'm like loosing trust in the product.

I'm asking if there is a way for me to fix the issue. If instead is a problem with the motherboard, how much would it cost to change/repair it? Any other suggestions or advice is more than welcomed.

Hi

Windows 7 is working fine in my computer. But, I am unable to instal Ubuntu alongside. I ran the diagnostics and got the following error:

Error Code 0146

Msg: Error Code 2000-0146

------------(Some text like Msg: HDD.......)

Then I ran the HDD specific tests from my Dell Resource CD but no errors were detected.

Can you pls help me in this regard?

So,

I desperately need the SSD speed. 

I know i can use the intesl caching stuff, but i dont want to!!

• Intel® Smart Response Technology: This technology utilizes the speed advantage of SSD in caching where the frequently used information is stored on the SSD instead of the Hard drive.
• Intel® Rapid Start Technology: This technology enables the system to boot back with-in seconds after getting into hibernation.

What i am looking to do is, put a 128GB mSATA SSD drive in the slot, fire windows into in and use this as my OS & APPS drive, (Drive C:), and then use the existing drive, the 1TB mechanical drive as the storage drive (Drive D:). 

The dell site, say i can not use an MSATA SSD to boot with...i see no reason why!?

Can anyone advise?

Also, i cant find the spec of the mSATA...dont know whether its SATA 3 or SATA 2.

I'm trying to instal the following driver: «Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver, Windows 7* 64, Windows Vista* 64 (exe)» on a LATITUDE E5400 win7-64b, but it says the system doesn't meet the minimum requirements.

Am I installing the wrong driver ?

i tries to install Wi-Di from dell website, following error is coming. please see attached file.

Using Dell Ispiron - 5520 , windows 7 , processor i5 2nd genration, graphics card intel 4000.

Hello,

 

I have some questions about my Dell Inspiron 17R Notebook 3D (Inspiron 7720) laptop:

 

1. Under the laptop where the hard drive is at, there is an empty spot and it looks that another hard drive would fit there.  What is this empty spot for?

 

2. Can I add another 250G SSD to this laptop? Where should I put it? Is the empty spot above is for this?

 

3. I got this laptop about three months ago, and it was really very fast at the beginning.  Now it is slowing down and I wonder if this is normal and how much slower can go as the time pass by?

I have a Dell Inspiron 3520 laptop that will not boot properly. We owned it since new. When initialized it asks for a Startup password. There are no passwords on this machine. If I hit enter several times rather than enter a password it says it is preparing an automatic repair. Then troubleshooting. Then a blue screen titled Automatic Repair - your pc did not start correctly. I'm given the option of Restart or Advanced options. Under advanced options are Continue to Windows 8.1, Use a device (USB, network connection, or windows recovery CD) Troubleshoot, or Turn off your PC. Under troubleshoot I have an option of Refresh your PC. When I try this it states "You must log in as an administrator to continue, but there aren't any administrator accounts on this PC". I've checked the Bios and there are no passwords shown. It won't boot in safemode without requiring the setup password. I've tried running the system disks that we downloaded from the machine when we got it but they don't work either. Every significant entry requires a "setup password" which we never set. How do I get the machine to repair what ever is wrong or allow access?

I recently bought an Inspiron 15-R 5537 and saw a related post in these forums about how the 5537 has no backlight to the keyboard, yet I'm looking at the box right now and it says "Backlit Keyboard". So what's the truth and if there's no backlight, does that mean I can get a free upgrade due to the fact that I was lied to when purchasing this laptop?

Hi. I have Dell 3521 Touch Screen Core i5. My Bluetooth is not working.... When I try To update the drivers, an error comes that I have to activate the device... my wireless switch is enabled and working...please refer to images below and help

In the morning the pc was working just fine, i turned it off and then back on to change to a another operating system. Instead of taking me to the boot options it took me to a black screen saying;

intenal hard disk drive not found

 to resolve this issue, try to reseat the drive.

No bootable devices--strike F1 to retry to boot, F2 enter Setup Menu, F5 enter PSA

I didnt did anything to the pc, it was just sitting in the table and so I doubt it may be related to the hardware as several forums say.

When I enter the BIOS it says on Fixed HDD; ST500LM012 HN-M500MBB                                              (500 Gb)

Here the details of the computer

Dell Inspiron 15N 3520

Windows 8 (with 8.1 Preview and Ubuntu)

uses UEFI

Core I5 2.5 GHz

4GB DDR3 Ram

500 GB of HDD (i think it has a 32GB SSD cache)

Please help, i have tried reading all over the internet and trying everything  that does not require opening the device (the device is new and is not easy as I would like it to be).

Can anyone tell me what to do or if it can be saved without any hardware change? It only has about 2 months and  i have important information inside (yeah no back up...)

Hello,

We've had this laptop almost a year now and we've yet to get the optical drive to work. It hasn't been too big an issue, but I want to get it fixed. There is no driver installed for the disk drive and that is the way it was shipped to us. I cannot seem to find the driver on the dell website. Any assistance would be appreciated.
