I have a XPS 14" with Core i5, 4GB RAM with Windows 8 preloaded

I am not able to connect to the Wi-Fi in my home. The laptop is just a few days old so I have not tested Wi-Fi connectivity in other places like Starbucks, etc.

I am 100% sure that my wireless (Cisco Linksys) is working normally since I have other devices and three other family members (kids and my wife) that connect no problem. We are not doing anything fancy with security or firewalls.

I can connect to my home Internet by using the ethernet cable (that is how I'm connected at the moment).

Ironically, I was able to connect to Wi-Fi for a short period of time (about 1-2 hours) a couple times only to see the Signal/connection just stop working. I am pretty good with computers and work professionally in software sales.

I have downloaded many updates from both Dell and Microsoft including product drivers. Ive run so many updates that I couldn't tell you all of them but (as is common with Windows products) I have spent many cycles (update / restart) updating hardware drivers, etc.

Please let me know how to troubleshoot this as all of the standard Windows & Dell help suggestions are not making a difference. (i.e. forget the network, disable and re-enable, unistall/reinstall driver, etc).

Hello

My system is:

E6430 i5, 128gb ssd, win 8 64bit, Intel HD4000

Bios A11, freshly installed Win8

All drivers from Dell website

The fan continuously spins even if CPU usage is less then 1%

Any ideas for solution?

Latitude E6410 A09 Bios is not available for download. This, even when all filtering of downloads is OFF. Three versions of BIOS updates are available, including A10, but each result in a message letting me know A09 is required first.  But again, A09 is nowhere to be found. Any links to BIOS A09 would be much appreciated.

Hi

I searched and found one answer but the links provided by Ravi no longer work...

I'm having a terrible time with my card reader, it can't read/find my SD card (Tried a few to make sure) and on occasion when it does find the card it takes forever to open folders/files?

Usually gives error saying (PCIE Card Reader - Not Responding)

Please Help....

finger movement on pad doesn't mover cursor, light on above pad, pad  left and right control keys on pad not working able to control system by wireless mouse.

Dear all,

I purchase a dell vostro 5470, and want to install at 128GB msata as boot drive, but do not know how to do it. As it comes with windows 8.1, and with UEFI, i'm not able to change the boot drive.

Anyone has done it before can share some light?

Hi guys,
Have  a Latitude E5410 and I', trying to update the BIOS from A09 to A10 whether I download it from the Dell Drvier stie and try to run it, or use the Dell Client system update I get prompted to enter in my BIOS password which is fine, I get the BIOS update warning saying it will update then reboot my system etc but after that nothing happens. The BIOS remains at A09 no error messages. Its not the end of the world and worst case is wait for the A11 BIOS to come out but its got me beat :)

Any help would be appriciated

I have tried SAFE MODE (That failed because no power management services where running)

Fresh install of 7 so no AV or anything

Compatibility mode on the BIOS installer

I recently purchased a Dell Battery type J1KND and a Dell Battery Charger (out 19.5V, 3.34 A) for my Dell N5010. 

For the first 4 days after receiving it it all worked perfectly fine. Afterwards my battery could not be detected. The reason I bought it in the first place was because my old Dell Battery had the very same issue. Later on it could be detected but it malfunctioned and only lasted for about 20 minutes. 

Now my new battery seems to be causing similar issues. I read that I could fix this problem by unplugging both my charger and battery and holding down the power button for 5 to 10 seconds. I did so.

Afterwards, when I plugged in my battery and charger again Windows would start and suddenly shut down. When I turned on my laptop again Windows prompted me to use Start Up Repair. I did so and yet my laptop shut down again.

I repeated this same process of turning it on and going through start up repair about four times. Each time my laptop shut down. 

Finally, I removed my new Dell battery and when I went through Start Up Repair the System managed to go through the whole process and open Windows. So now I'm working without any issue as long as my battery is not plugged in and I'm connected to the AC. 

I turned off my computer once more, plugged in my battery and the same issue persisted: as long as the battery is plugged in my laptop will suddenly shut down. 

I will greatly appreciate any guidance that I can receive. 

Extra details:

• I already tried updating my BIOS and it didn't help fixing my problem
• I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium
• I've had battery issues almost from the moment I bought this laptop
• With my old battery my system constantly suggested that I bought a new one

I have just bought a new dell e6430 laptop. It came with ubuntu but i removed that and installed windows 7 pro. (x64).

I have a few peoblems with the drivers, when i entered the service tag on the drivers donwload page i got a selection of drivers that I downloaded.

Now, among these is the dell camera firmware update and also the intel rapid store techology under chipset heading and the dell contrilvaul biometric framework driver. These simply won't install.

The intel rapid store says that the system does not meet requirements.

The other two simply open the folder with files after extraction and nothing happens......

what to do?

Also i get three items related to the intel rapid stroe and can't figure out the difference between them. Can anyone help?

My Dell Laptop XPS (L521x) takes a long time to shut down after it has been running a while. I am not sure the fan is turning on. Is there a way to check the operation of the fan?

I have a Dell M 5030 as well and am having the same issue that MANY others are having on the SAME machine, 7 Beeps no boot. I have read everything and tried just about everything except using a soulder gun on the chips. From what I understand from ALL of the post as well as from DELL is that it is a processor/CPU issue and to fix it you will need a new motherboard!  From where I stand if the same problem is happening to a large group of people on the SAME laptop from DELL, then it appears to me that Dell should recall these computers and fix the issue or have a class action suit filed against them. I have been purchasing Dell computers not only for my family but also for my businesses for a long time now. If Dell can not step up and fix this issue with one model of laptop then Dell can rest assured that I will no longer do business with them. I would further like to state that I purchased the M5030 for my mother and that being her first computer does not set well with her as far as brands are concerned. Dell, get it together and admit that this model has an issue and recall them. At the very least to save loyal customers.

I have a Dell Vostro 1520, which cam bundled with XP and Vista. At the time (7 years ago) I chose XP, but have been considering upgrading given the end of XP support.

Yesterday, while tidying, I found both the Dell XP and Vista DVD-ROMs. Is it possible now to upgrade to Vista using that DVD? What is the procedure?

I have vista 32bit basic edition.  I recently tried turning on my computer at the windows error recovery screen came up. It gives the options to start normally or run the diagnostic utility.  Regardless of which option I choose it returns to the error recovery screen. I have tried pushing f8 to start in safe mode but it won't. The only options are f2 or f12. I do not have the windows vista reinstallation cd.  I have looked at the forums all over the internet and haven't been able to find one relevant to my issue. Any help would be appreciated. I have got some feedback from friends that there is nothing that can be done and I will need to reinstall the entire OS. THANKS

Bonjour!

I got a petit problem. My laptop is a little bit used by now, a friend of mine and I have been using this M11XR2 since it came out, but by now is getting slower, a lot of install and uninstall programs and so on. I would like to factory restore this thing like new but a huge problem: doesn't have a CD reader, and I got the CD that came with, the windows thing one. So, what can I do?

Just tell me how please.

I am trying to setup my laptop with the built in display + 2 external monitors. I have done a bit of reading and was under the impression that it would be possible with a displayport + avi/VGA + built in. I have this setup at the moment but am unable to get 3 monitors working. I currently have my two external monitors on (Displayport + AVI) but any time I try to switch on the built in display, it wont work and goes black again.

hi,

    Yesterday I bought Dell Inspiron 15z 5523.The keyboard backlight does not work. I have tried the following:

OS (Windows 8 64 bit)

1)  Fn+ F6  -- > Nothing happened

2)   Opened Windows mobility center --> Keyboard back light option not available

 3)  c:\Program Files\Dell\QuickSet\BacklitKB  -- > Unable to detect the backlight keyboard

Please Help .. Thank you

I have bought this model and installed clean windows 8.1 x64. Can you say what I must download to make fingerprint working...

I have downloaded all from download center but it doesn't work - it needs something more than driver...

Hi,

I had been using my DVD/Bluray drive but after a reinstall of windows 7 I am not able to access the DVD / Bluray drive. or rather I am able to access it after re-installing the driver and then after I take out the disk in the drive again the drive becomes unrecongnizeable

I reinstalled the firmware PLDS DS-6E2SH 12.7 Tray BD-Combo Firmware Update(SE2_CD11.zip ) from Dell support site but this did not help.

The only way I can get it to work is by uninstalling the device, rebooting and when it starts up again, it reinstalls the driver and the drive works. A thing to note is that this also does not work everytime.

I spent 2 hrs with tech support but they were not able to fix it. Wondering if there is anyone who can help
