My refurbished latitude d610 won't power up. I have removed the battery and run off ac adapter but it won't start. The green battery light is flashing which I believe means the battery is fully charged.
When I press the power button the second light on the keyboard and status lights stays on for approx. 8 seconds and then dies it looks like a bag with an A in the middle and the device status light dies just after, it looks like the power on button.

I have been having this issue for a few days now. Sometimes, just restarting by holding the power button down and then turning it on, fixed the issue but now that's not even possible. It loads the Dell Inspiron screen and then goes into the boot menu. I researched online and it seems some other people have had a hard drive issue when running diagnostic but mines says "No Hard Drive Detected". Keyboard/Mouse doesn't even seem to work at this point so I can't even hit "Continue Testing".
This is EXTREMELY frustrating!!!!
Ever since I upgraded to the Window 8.1 I have been getting the BSOD everyday (sometimes several times a day) It has been getting continually worse. The error message it shows is "Driver IQRL not less or equal (netwlv64.sys)"
I don't know if this is connected to the BSOD, but sometimes my computer won't connect to my home internet. It will just randomly disconnect and I can't reconnect unless I restart my computer.
I have looked it up and tried some of the solutions people have suggested in other forums, but none of them seem to work. I know it is a problem with one of my drivers, and I am pretty sure it is the Intel (R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN but I don't know how to go about fixing it. I went to the Dell Drivers and Downloads page and I found this driver that is supposed to help with Intel WLAN connection problems. (It is the Intel Intel (R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABC Network Connection, (R) Wireless WiFi 4965AGN, V.N/A, A00) but I'm not sure that what I've been experiencing is a WLAN connection problem, and it says not to download unless it is.

I recently purchased a latitude XT along with a PR12S media base (with CD). The tablet so far is working great, however the media base not so much so any help would be greatly appreciated. I am completely up to date with my service packs, etc. running Win 7 and have installed the latest BIOS update from Dell. When I dock my XT and go into the BIOS the media base does not show up, that being said I do see the cd spin up on startup, but again it never shows up in BIOS and the CD is not available in the one time boot menu.
Once in Windows I see the USB device within the media base and am using external usb keyboard mouse etc. through the base, external monitor support is available and working through the base, but no CD. The battery shows fully charged, however it does not show up as plugged in (on AC power). The other non function item is the audio out, it does not work from the base but works through the tablet port directly.
I have browsed quite a bit and the media base option I have seen is only the PR12S, does anyone have any input on maybe what I am missing or maybe a different part number that I have not found. or maybe a driver I am missing?
One last note on the drivers, I have also updated the TUSB driver to the most current available as well as the N-Trig digitizer.

I have an Inspiron 14z-5423 Ultrabook with Windows 7. It's been giving my lots of problems since I got it. The latest is this blank screen and 8 beeps. The screen is lit up when I turn on my laptop but nothing appears. Then it starts to beep 8 times per interval. I saw on another forum/entry that it might be a display driver problem, so I ran the diagnostic and it's still does this. It happens just about 50% of the time whenever I turn on my laptop.
Help is greatly appreciated.
Basically, I'm trying to upgrade the RAM from the current 2x2GB chips -these- to a couple of 2x4GB chips -these- and I've been having issues.
The symptoms are:
The laptop boots to bios, and to any OS loading screen, tried with Win7 on the HDD and Ubuntu (with a live disk), both 64-bit versions.
After the loading screen for the OS the laptop reboots.
I tried before with a couple of other chips (that showed the same symptoms) that when placed in my other laptop reported a speed of 1600 instead of the advertised 1333, so I figured that was the issue.
This is really odd, as the 4GB chips appear to have the exact same specs (other than the size) and therefore should be compatible, and various forum posts confirm that 8GB is the top limit of memory for this system.
The 8GB RAM works fine in another laptop I have access to and reports back all the right specs (unlike the first pair I bought).
I've also checked the BIOS and it is up to date, along with the motherboard firmware.
My only idea is that somehow the current RAM is underclocked, as the only mention I can find anywhere is thissaying that the 1749 is only compatible with 1033/1066 speeds, BUT the chips in there currently are 1333 and report that on other computers.
I'm really confused, and have tried a load of different avenues with no success. Has anyone got any ideas here?

I performed a hard shutdown by holding the power button for 5-10 secs then tried to switch it on.
I am unable to power up the laptop; no response whatsoever.
The fan is not running, neither are the keyboard lights on.
The battery indicator at the side of laptop isn't showing any response either.
Tried to rest it for a while but the same story- no response.
The battery on this model can't be removed so that's not happening..
Such a bad time too as I need to submit my coursework in a week and I don't have any backup!
Anyone with same problem or a solution to this?
I purchased a Dell Venue 11 on 12/24/13 and received it this past Saturday, the 28th. I ordered the $499 version. I was very satisfied with the item and found it comparable to the Windows Surface 2 Pro. I took my time to install all my apps that I needed and to adjust my security settings so that I could log in remotely to my work servers.
Yesterday while I was doing work on my tablet, I noticed my battery was low. So I plugged it in and continued to work. However, the tablet turned off on me about 15 minutes later. I thought maybe it didn't charge as fast as it pulls energy. So I plugged it in to charge while it was off for almost 3 hours. It still would not turn back on. I was using the Dell charger that came with the tablet. I tested the charge with other items that take the mini USB port and it charged them, fine.
I contacted Dell and after being transferred 5 times and dealing with a couple of representatives that clearly weren't familiar with this new product, I finally got someone from tech support to trouble shoot my tablet. They first had me hold the power button for 10 seconds. No luck. Then they had me hold it for a minute. Still nothing. Then we did 2 minutes and tried to plug it in. Needless to say, it still will not power on.
In addition to my tablet being a brick, I also ordered the Mobile Keyboard with it. I received an email stating that I would not receive the keyboard until the end of January because it is'in production'. Very bothersome because had I known this, I wouldn't have even bothered purchasing this item from Dell, altogether.
I am very disappointed in Dell that they would send me out a defective unit. Further disappointed that I wasn't properly informed of the wait time on the keyboard. And even more annoyed at Dell's unwillingness to compensate me for my troubles and the hours of wasted time that I spent installing items onto my tablet, the files that were on the tablet which are now lost and the 3 hours that I had to spend on the phone with them. They would not offer me even a small credit for my troubles. Had this been a different company, I know that wouldn't be the case. I have been a long time purchaser of Dell products but going forward, I will have to think twice. Yes they offer affordable solutions that are practical, but the experience with customer service and the lack of quality of products almost isn't worth the hassle.
I know that dell is not good at publicizing the brand and model of the hardware it uses on its machines. All I was told was that I will have a 1TB drive. Well, it was not working and I got it replaced. What came back was a better drive, SSHD, or a solid state hybrid drive. It has 8GB NAND flash. Is this the norm for the most recent 14R now or did the tech make a mistake that costs them like $40. An SSHD of that model is $40 more expensive than a regular HDD that I had. Just curious. BTW, my win 8.1 boots fast. I never used an SSD but this thing is satisfactory enough.
This is very annoying. My inspiron 15R was OK for a year but recent months I got a problem with battery. It completely discharged. I realized maybe the desktop mode charge is responsible. I pressed the charge to 100% once button. Nothing, not even after restart. I had to disable the mode to let battery charge to full and then re-enable it. Now it's down to 41% and that is below the 50%, still, not charging, not even after I push the charge one time button. I think maybe this is a win 8.1 problem? I upgraded to 8.1 from 8 a couple months ago and before that I never noticed battery was completely discharged.
Any advice? I just got a 14R. It's on the same mode and same 8.1 so I'll see if it does anything at all with this mode.

i am using dell inspiron n7010 and my OS is windows 7 64 bit. built in bluetooth is not working since i buy it. i have tried following and could not any result yet.
download drivers and application software from dell site and try to install. then it ask to switch on "wireless switch" and though i do so it software not run furthermore. so i cannot install bluetooth drivers too. please give solution.
I have an E6320 laptop, i5 processor and 3GB ram that was delivered with XP SP3 32-bit. Everything worked as expected under XP. I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and the OS, software, etc. all work fine within the Windows 7 OS environment, however, I can no longer use the F2, F8, or F12 function keys during boot to access the set-up, safe mode, or boot device menus ... the F-keys are ignored and it goes right into the Windows start-up, whether during a restart or cold-boot.
This seems like really odd behavior as the OS shouldn't load until after the Dell start-up splash screen when the F-Keys should still be active for boot control ... does the Windows 7 upgrade patch the BIOS in some way that requires a change in a control panel setting to enable the F-Keys again? I did not have this problem when I upgraded my desktop workstations ... is this some quirk particular to laptops?

I just got my new XPS 15, amazing laptop but there's 1 big problem,
A high-pitched scratching/screeching noise is produced from the power button area ONLY when the power is plugged in and the battery is fully charged.
I've seen other forums and others have exactly the same problem, Any ideas?
