Hello,

I have an issue with wifi connection on my Dell Inspiron 1420.  The connection gets disconnected every 2min,  again I have to disconnect and connect to the wifi.  There is no issue with my wifi as I am using few different devices connected through the same wifi connection.

I do not know what is wrong may be something with the drivers not sure as I am not familiar with that area.

Thanks you in advance for the help.

Dell Precision M4500 - Wont boot past BIOS splash screen

I have had several Dell Laptops (D630, D830, E6410, E6510, Precision M4500), and with the D630 and E6410 Dell was VERY helpful after the warranty expired (in one case by 5 months).. even replaced a system board or 2 since tons of people were reporting issues similar to mine on the D and E series. NOW on my Precision M4500, I called Dell 1 day (24 hours) after the warranty expired. Issue: The system would REFUSE to boot past the dell BIOS splash screen. It would finally boot after 10 or so power cycle attempts. Dell refused to "help" me but did give me some advice now ... 1 month after the warranty expired - the issue is back System Info: Dell M4500 16GB DDR3 RAM (Dell Certified) - issue remains when I use the 8gb in my e6410 bluray drive (I also tried to boot using the dvd drive in my e6410, issue remains) intel 6250 wifi/wimax card gobi 2000 card Bluetooth i7 cpu NVidia FX 880 gpu bios level a15 os: dual boot via GRUB - Ubuntu 13.10 and windows 7 ultimate (both 64 bit) when it does finally boot, I get a message about intel management engine booting the factory image or something to that effect it will NEVER boot past the bios splash screen on battery only (even with a new battery) once booted, I can unplug and get about 2 1/2 hours of usage from the pc I can access the bios settings with no issues - even on the "no-boot" power ups once it does boot, there are no other issues NOW: after reading on the internet I found this to be a COMMON problem someone posted a fix: disable intel speedstep I have since disabled intel speed step, and have not had 1 issue since BUT - this is a unacceptable "bandaid" and I would like DELL to chime in here and offer a real solution to a common, wide spread problem. after speedstep is disabled, intel turbo (self overclocking) does NOT work and performance seems to be lower I was a certified dell tech in the past, and back this... dell WOULD step up and work with users on issues like this. To be "blown off" 24 hours after the warranty expired is bad for business IMO Thanks. -- bottom line: I am asking for the "real fix" for this issue, even if it is a BIOS update. This issue is present in A07, A08, A09, A10.....all the way to A15 Oh Ya.... im on my 6th Intel 6250 WiFi/WiMAX card - this seems to be a well known and common issue as well.

Dell Latitude E7240 issues

Hello,

So my company purchased a Dell Latitude E7240 laptop with the E-Port docking station (the one with just 1 DVI/VGA connection).  The laptop is fine by itself but it has issues when we undock it and then re-dock it.  The problem is that the user (just happens to be the President of the company :() has 7 or so USB devices and since the docking station only has 5 ports available, we bought a separate USB hub for her (and the USB hub has its own AC adapter).

So if she has the laptop in the docking station docked and turns on the laptop, everything is fine.  However, whenever she undocks it and then docks it again none of the USB devices work.  The problem is that it doesn't happen every time she undocks and re-docks but enough that it is extremely annoying.  Also when this happens, the laptop won't restart or shut down without any issues...it just hangs at "shutting down Windows" screen.  I have to manually hold down the power button to get it to shut off.

We have had a Dell tech come out and swap out the motherboard on the laptop and that seemed to fix the issue but a day or two later the issue cropped up again.  I just received a new docking station from Dell and swapped it out but, again, still having the issue.

The laptop is Win. 7 64bit OS load; has all the latest drivers that I know of...so....anyone else with the similar experience and/or any thoughts on how to fix this?

Thanks!

New XPS 13 (9333) Constant Noise

I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.

I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.

Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.

My Dell Inspiron has vertical lines on it.

Hello

I was playing a game a few days ago and the bottom of my screen said that the color scheme had been changed to windows 7 basic.

I powered up my computer today and it had nothing but these really weird looking purple and pink and gray lines going down the bottom half of it and the top of it.        I can see the middle of it just fine.

I'm not a computer genius but can someone please tell me what is going on and how to fix it.

Hi,

My boss has an iGo system, but she got a new computer.  She went from an HP to a Dell Ultrabook (Latitude E7440) -- and the tip that used to charge her HP computer will not charge her Dell Ultrabook.

WHAT TIP DO I NEED TO ORDER FROM YOU TO MAKE THIS WORK?

I can't find the information readily on your website.

All help appreciated!

Possible virus and now Error code 2000-0142

My son's laptop, just over a year old Inspiron 3520, seemed to be taken over by a virus. It would only connect to a BT Fon wireless internet option which blocked all other connection options and would only allow you to view their advertising page. We tried to run virus checks etc, but the more we tried to do the less it would let us do, eventually we tried an F12 diagnostic test which is when we go this error code. I'm really hoping that this problem can be fixed without an expensive repair bill, any help appreciated.

Touchpad hungs when scrolling in Firefox (M6500)

Hi,

I'm a happy user of Dell M6500 mobile workstation. However there is one thing that drives me crazy. It is touchpad software. I'm using the latest version 15.1.6.2. When I try scrolling with a trouchpad scroll area when in Firefox my mouse coursor freezes, CPU load is 25% (single core fully occupied) and I need to kill SynTPEnh.exe process in order to restore cursor movement. I'm using Win7 Ultimate x64.

Does anyone have any clue how to prevent this?

Thanks and Regards, Marcin

Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 Keyboard keeps jumping me around

So I am having this issue where the keyboard appears to be jumping me all over the place.  Even as I am typing this message it becomes quite frustrating.  I have sent the computer in for repair in the past while it was still under warranty and they determined that it was a software issue...something to do with the drivers.  They said it would cost $120 for them to remotely fix the issue which I do not have.  I have attempted to use this site to update all of the drivers but nothing has been specific to the keyboard or touchpad that might be causing the issue.  I am wondering if this is a driver they have exclusive access to or something.  Has anyone else had this issue and had some sort of progress with it?

XPS13 using Intel Wireless-AC 7260 won't connect faster than 54mbit?

[Apologies for format - tried 3 different systems and cannot correct - PLEASE REMOVE] Hi all, I’ve recently purchased a Dell XPS 13 9333 (Core I7) with Windows 8.1 pre-installed. I have to say overall I’m very pleased with it. Build quality is very good. I use it both classically and with touch screen – so best of both worlds. Everything is now set up as I need, but I have one outstanding issue. The problem is the on board Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 adapter will only connect at a maximum speed of 54Mbps (viewed from Network and Sharing Center) using 802.11g (viewed from task manager). The router I have is a Netgear WNDR5400 (Dual Band up to 802.11n) set to WPA2-PSK only. The XPS 13 always connects at 54Mbps whether using 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz. I'm not after 802.11ac speeds, but did expect to get better than 802.11g - i.e. 802.11n I have tested a spare Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter (WNDA3100v2) connected to the XPS 13 and this connects at 300Mbps using 802.11n every time. Some quick tests to a local Desktop PC (Gigabit connection from PC to router) shows I’m getting MUCH better than 54Mbps with this USB adapter. So I’m convinced my router is OK and in principle the laptop (Windows 8.1) can run a faster wireless connection. The question is why can’t it do it with the on board adapter – having a USB adapter hanging out of one of the USB ports is not a long term option. The latest Dell recommended drivers (10.8.0.6) are currently installed along with the Intel ProSet/Wireless Software (16.8.0). I have also tried removing the Dell recommended drivers (along with the ProSet/Wireless Software) and then loading the very latest drivers from Intel (16.10.0.5). To no affect. In all cases it connects at 54Mbps saying 802.11g in task manager. The XPS BIOS is up to date (A03) The Intel Proset Manual Diagnosis tool runs all tests and passes with Signal quality "Excellent". All tests are done with 10ft of router and in same room (no walls). It's as if the device is capable, but the "Advanced" setting presented to the system (and me) don't include 802.11n setting correctly. Does anyone have any thought about how to get this adapter to connect using 802.11n? I've included output from Advanced Driver settings and NETSH below The Driver Advanced setting are:- ================================= 802.11n Channel Width (band 2.4/band 5.2) – both Auto Ad Hoc Channel 802.11 b/g – Set to “1” Ad Hoc QoS Mode – Set to WMM Enabled ARP offload for WOWLAN – set to enabled Bluetooth® AMP – Set to disabled Fat Channel Intolerant – Set to disabled GTK rekeying for WOWLAN – set to enabled HT Mode – set to VHT mode Mixed Mode Protection – set to CTS to self enabled NS offload for WOWLAN – set to enabled Packet Coalescing – set to enabled Preferred Band – set to no preference Roaming Aggressiveness – set to medium Sleep on WOWLAN disconnect – set to disabled Transmit Power - set to 5 - highest Wake on Magic Packet – set enabled Wake on Pattern Match – set enabled Wireless mode - set to 802.11a/b/g (no 802.11n available to pick) The Netsh WLAN SHOW DRIVER output is:- ====================================== Interface name: Wi-Fi (Latest Intel Driver) Driver : Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 Vendor : Intel Corporation Provider : Intel Date : 28/01/2014 Version : 16.10.0.5 INF file : C:\Windows\INF\oem61.inf Files : 3 total C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\Netwbw02.sys C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\Netwfw02.dat C:\Windows\system32\drivers\vwifibus.sys Type : Native Wi-Fi Driver Radio types supported : 802.11b 802.11g 802.11n 802.11a 802.11ac FIPS 140-2 mode supported : Yes 802.11w Management Frame Protection supported : Yes Hosted network supported : Yes Authentication and cipher supported in infrastructure mode: Open None Open WEP-40bit Open WEP-104bit Open WEP WPA-Enterprise TKIP WPA-Enterprise CCMP WPA-Personal TKIP WPA-Personal CCMP WPA2-Enterprise TKIP WPA2-Enterprise CCMP WPA2-Personal TKIP WPA2-Personal CCMP Open Vendor defined Authentication and cipher supported in ad-hoc mode: Open None Open WEP-40bit Open WEP-104bit Open WEP WPA2-Personal CCMP Interface name: Wi-Fi (recommended Dell Driver) =============================================== Driver : Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 Vendor : Intel Corporation Provider : Intel Date : 05/12/2013 Version : 16.8.0.6 INF file : C:\Windows\INF\oem61.inf Files : 3 total C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\NETwbw02.sys C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\Netwfw02.dat C:\Windows\system32\drivers\vwifibus.sys Type : Native Wi-Fi Driver Radio types supported : 802.11b 802.11g 802.11n 802.11a 802.11ac FIPS 140-2 mode supported : Yes 802.11w Management Frame Protection supported : Yes Hosted network supported : Yes Authentication and cipher supported in infrastructure mode: Open None Open WEP-40bit Open WEP-104bit Open WEP WPA-Enterprise TKIP WPA-Enterprise CCMP WPA-Personal TKIP WPA-Personal CCMP WPA2-Enterprise TKIP WPA2-Enterprise CCMP WPA2-Personal TKIP WPA2-Personal CCMP Open Vendor defined Authentication and cipher supported in ad-hoc mode: Open None Open WEP-40bit Open WEP-104bit Open WEP WPA2-Personal CCMP IHV service present : Yes IHV adapter OUI : [00 80 86], type: [7200] IHV extensibility DLL path: C:\Windows\System32\IWMSSvc.dll IHV UI extensibility ClSID: {1bf6cb2d-2ae0-4879-a7aa-a75834fbd0e3} IHV diagnostics CLSID : {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

Hi Community

I'm a DELL user for more than a year now and I'm having trouble with my DELL M5030. Whenever I open up my laptop it only gives me a black screen and 7 beeps. already checked memory and its working, thinking it it a memory issue. Also, I tried following some info in this community like powercycle the laptop by draining the battery and start it over. I really need help. Hopefully someone will give me instructions how to fix this issue. Thanks

Hardware malfunction - NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error - The System has Halted.

I recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 (32 bit) on a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. I have 2gigs of mem.   After the upgrade a few days later the computer freezes up and nothing works except to turn it off.  On occasion, I get the following error message:

"Hardware malfunction - NMI:Parity Check/Memory Parity Error - The System has Halted."

I have searched various forums and also searched the Internet and was told that simply removing the memory and reinstalling them should fix the problem but it hasn't.  I have also ran various memory check programs from both Dell  32-Bit Diagnostics Utility and Microsoft  Windows Memory Diagnostic all to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas or solutions?

Thanks

CANNOT BOOT TO WIN 7 64-BIT GPT PARTITION WITH UEFI SUPPORT-INSPIRON 7537

Ok,  My machine came pre-installed with windows 8 which I did not need for business purposes, my goal was to downgrade to windows 7 64-bit with UEFI functionality, I had a hard drive from a previous Inspiron machine (1721) that i wanted to clone to my insprion 7537 machine, the older 1721 hard drive had about  209 GB's used out of 500 GB, I was migrating this to a 1TB  SSD (hybrid) that is of the newer  machine (7537),  I carefully formatted the 1TB ssd drive with GPT partition table requirements ( 100mb EFI/ 200mb MSR/ CORE OS) , upon doing so I used a third party application to clone my older disk to the newer disk, the end result is that windows 7 gpt partition is not booting up, please see my snapshots below, any insight would be greatly appreciated .
