Miss Vostro1000 drivers

Dear Gents,

I have my vostro 1000 reformatted, and reinstalled on windows xp. But seems like i am missing plenty of drivers, which i had it sorted out (somewhat) by checking the device manager

currently, outstanding drivers (with yellow exclaimation mark):

- Ethernet Controller

-SM Bus controller

-Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Can you assist?

Also, i had tried to download the little program(DellSystemDetect.exe) from dell (to check for missing drivers), but installation failed, with below error details. Can you advise how to circumvent this problem? As i do like to check which/what drivers i am missing from here

Bought a Dell Inspiron 3520 laptop in May, 2013 the hard drive locked up and is asking for the hard drive password, I try to get help from Dell (it is still under warranty) it asks for the service tag I enter and it say service tag not valid please enter a valid service tag, Please help

I have been following this thread for some time now, and want to thank all of you who posted helpful information and results. Like everyone else I purchased a new Inspiron M5030 from Best Buy in September of 2011. Right on schedule the machine died the first of August nof last year and I got the dreaded black screen, seven-beep syndrom. I used the quick fix on the net to bring it up long enough to transfer my data to an external HD.

Since then I have been trying to get some useful response from Dell. My first contact was the usual sorry out of contract, but we will fix it for slightly more than you paid for it new or you can extend your warrenty (on a broken machine?). As I followed the various reports of the tread; I tried contacting Best Buy -- they denied all responsibility, but I notice they no longer carry Dell; I tried contacting all three reps mentioned on the thread with no response after several tries; I tried the phone number given for out of contract help and ended up being daisy-chained through an endless number of reps all of whom claimed that there was no problem until I dropped into a black hole. Having invested to much of my time and patience on a problem that is properly Dell's, I gave up and resorted to shake & back.

My machine is back up and running for now -- hopefully until I can afford a new laptop (not Dell). I wish those of you who are still trying to work with Dell all luck, but after staying with Dell for four machines I will be buying Japanese and filling with the BBB. Thanks again and goodbye!

Latitude E7440 - Keyboard backlight not working

Hi all,

Unboxed an E7440 with the touch panel today. It came preloaded with Windows 7 Professional 64bit. After initial setup, e.g. user account creation, locale settings, etc..., I am unable to enable the keyboard backlight, and cannot find any driver updates via Dell, or special support packages.

The Fn-Right arrow key does nothing, all other Fn-<blue keys> work as expected.

Have I been delivered a lemon, or are there any specific drivers I can find (via the dell driver cabs or through the recovery partition image files ?) to check.

Of note: I also have a corporate E7440, identical HW configuration (no touch screen, only difference), with our corporate Win7 32bit image. The keyboard backlight on it works.

E Port II Docking Station USB Ports Not Working

The USB ports on my new E Port II docking are not working with my new Latitude E7240 Laptop. Full configuration of the laptop is below. Talked with Dell and they sent me a replacement docking station but the same issue surfaced. Looked at the Device Manager and no extra USB ports show up when connected to the docking station. The side laptop USB works fine when the docking station is connected. Anyone else experience this? I'm stumped about what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Laptop shuts off when moved

I have the Inspiron 15R Notebook (Inspiron 5521). I bought it back in April and from the beginning it has randomly shut off, but I overlooked it because it did not happen very often. For about the last month, the shut offs have happened almost every time I shift my computer to a more comfortable position. I have checked online and the general consensus appears to be loose components on the motherboard. I have a one year limited warranty. Can this problem be fixed under my warranty and how do I go about sending it back to Dell for the repairs?

I upgraded my XPS501X laptop to Windows 8 without realising that the software had not been tested on the laptop. Have had numerous problems with it since. Did read a blog post about reinstalling the drivers in the right order to fix issues with it. Is there a guide on this?

Intel Turbo boost-not working;
Bluetooth not working-even though I have the latest driver/version installed;
Webcam central does not work;
Nokia software for a Windows 8 phone does not work/recognise phone when plugged in via cable, and of course cannot access via bluetooth.
Also have Nikon camera software installed and the NKmc2.dll error comes (it's a Nikon message centre file)

There may be other problems but these are apparent and causing problems. Any advice?

I've got a new Inspiron 17 3721 with Windows 7. Its all up to date for Windows and drivers. Possibly not up to date on Dell software as I can't get into My Dell Downloads. I'll save that issue for another post.

I cannot get DataSafe to burn the DVD Recovery Media. It will burn disk one but it never accepts disk two. It just keeps ejecting it and asking for an empty disk. I'm using new out of the box DVD-Rs, the same type that work fine for disk one are being rejected when it asks for disk two.

Anyone have a fix for this?

I have successfully created a USB recovery media but I want this on non-volatile storage.

To make the problem more manageable I have set the wifi switch to only control Bluetooth via the bios. Bluetooth will randomly turn off many times throughout the day. There's no symptoms that its about to happen. I will be using my mouse and all of a sudden it's not working. I flip off the switch, wait several seconds and flip it back on again. Usually in windows there will be a little text box saying that Bluetooth hardware is being detected and then my mouse starts working again. The laptop came from Dell with the 380 Bluetooth 4.0 module installed. I have installed the latest drivers and that didn't help. I have several Bluetooth mice and the problem persists regardless of the mouse I use. Most days I will turn off/on Bluetooth 5+ times to restore functionality. Sometimes I have to reboot the laptop to get it working again. This is a really annoying issue. In all cases I can test the batteries that are in the mouse and they are 100% charged.

Hi All,

I have a power button problem with my Dell Laptop XPS 3d l702x and I do not know what is the problem, for it, Could anybody help me?

I tell you that the problem is the following:

First and when the XPS has its battery, I pressed the power button and the power button light start for a few seconds(but the keyboard light(no light) and I turn off the Laptop and took out its battery and then I pressed the power light button and both(button light and the keyboard turn on) but the hard drive light turn off.

After that, I keep pressed the button light for a few times and the hard drive light start and the Windows System start again and I could work fine with my Laptop and then I tum off the machine.

The next day I turn on the Laptop and I had the same problem and I had to repeat the same steps for the machine start.

After that I ran the Dell system detect test complete and it was successfully(hardware and software)

To be honest with you, I am confusing myself, I guess maybe the problem is the button power but I am not sure since that if the problem was other PC component the machine would not work after I got open the Windows operative system and the Laptop work fine, for it, Could you help me with that?

I have a Inspiron 6400 that now no longer starts. The last two times I started it, it took a long time to load at the Dell screen. last night it could not get past the dell screen and now this morning the dell screen will not appear. I tried taking out the battery and holding down the start button to discharge it but no success.

Any ideas??

Hi. Does anyone have any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?....per dell sales I replaced the hard drive on my inspiron 1545 and continues to install the is that I received with my laptop, however a message appears that there is no boot device. I don't understand what this means or what I am to do. The windows disc will start and begin installation, but when its time to restart and let windows start normally I get this same message. I have ran a full diagnostic and everything passed....one time it did say there was no media...this is foreign to me but it is vital that I have this up and running. I use this for school and I am out of options. Please please help!!! Thank you, Brigitte

My new XPS 1530 BlueRay Writer will not eject disk

I received my XPS M1530 in London last week.

I went to get a driver CD ROM disk for the Brother laser printer

I inserted the disk, the driver were successfully, printed two copies of an exhibition ticket and then tried to eject the disk.

I cannot eject the disk. Why?

Fn - F10 failed

The media bar EJECT button failed

The rebooted and EJECT button failed

Windows Explorer and then right click on the drive and selected the menu item "Eject" failed. It raised a dialog that said "Insert Disc" !??

Help me please!!!

Ps: sent a message to customer support on Saturday night. Tried searching for bios and blueray writer drivers updates on the Dell support site. I have A09 BIOS , the most recent one already installed.

This is a horrible because I love machine, now it would appear I need to get it replaced....

Brand New Vostro 5470 Stops Powering up on battery

I bought a brand new Vostro 5470 from DELL online about 3 weeks ago and yesterday it stops wanting to power up when on battery (i.e. pressing the power button does not power on the laptop).

Thinking it was a flat battery, I let it charge overnight and the symptoms remains, laptop does not power up.

The only way to power it up is to have the AC adapter plugged into the laptop. When it does power up, the battery status on win 8.1 indicates it is 98% and charging.

Anyone facing the same problem?

My config is Core i5 + 4 GByte RAM + touchscreen + 500 GByte HDD + 32 GB mSATA + Win 8.1 64 Bit

I'm trying to upgrade my Inspiron to 8GB of RAM, but when I try to run it with 8GB, the BIOS refuses to finish loading. Replacing one 4GB stick with the old 2GB stick, running it at 6GB of total RAM, it works fine, but not with both 4GB sticks in with a total of 8GB. I'm running the latest (I think.) A17 BIOS revision for my laptop. Does anyone know how I can get the whole 8GB working?
