Dell SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Network Adapter Issues
Hi,
Our company recently purchased two Dell Inspiron 3721 Laptops (Windows 7) with two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Docking Stations. Both laptops are fine and can connect to the network, but both network adapter on the docking stations don't seem to work on either computer. The lights on the network adapters for both docking stations don't light up and the adapter settings on the laptops show the LAN connections as "Network cable unplugged." The cables work, as we tested them on the laptops themselves. We've also tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers with no success. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks You
Dell M4700 Touchpad Reverse Scrolling
Hello Dell community
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Pro on my M4700 and reinstalled all the drivers.
One thing I noticed was that there is no "reverse scrolling" option on my Dell Touchpad program?
Before, there would be "reverse scrolling" under two finger gesture options, now it's gone and the Dell Touchpad program was the newest available from the Dell website.
What can I do to fix this? Thanks!
E6420 - Bios A07 - Diagnostic false positive - Lcd Cable
Hi everyone!
I found a weird bug with the A07 bios update on the E6420 (i5-2520m). The disgnostics utility report "Lcd Error 2000-0415". When I revert back to A06, the problem disapear.
Anyone can repeat this error? I had open a case to replace my lcd cable and I will contact Dell to cancel the cable replacement. But if no one can repeat the problem, maybe the cable is really damaged and the A07 bios is better detecting it.
I have no problem using the computer.
Thanks.
Inspirom 15 three years old now having wierd problems
My laptop seems to heat up pretty quickly even though I have one of those things with a fan to sit it on. About once or twice a week, the whole thing starts making a horrible noise and I have to shut down fast. 30 minutes later it is OK again.
There is a lot of jiggling of my screen at different times. Do I need a new Motherboard?
Also, how do I combine my two drives? My main drive is almost full but there is nothing at all on the other drives.

Dell XPS 15 1TB and 32GB SSD
I have a few questions regarding this new Dell XPS. If anyone knows the answer please help.
1) Why does this has two hard drives? Is the 32GB SSD contains only the OS?
2) Can I remove both hard drives and install only one SSD?
3) In the reviews, it states that the battery run time can go up to 11 hours. Since on Dell site, there are three XPS 15 with different price ranges. The lowest and the middle price have the same battery, but the highest price one has a different. So which one has this battery life time or is it all of them?
Thank you

Which drivers to install from Dell drivers list for Studio 1558
I just reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit after getting a new hard drive. I am confused as to which drivers I need to install now. I have a Studio 1558. I have input my service tag on Dell's "Drivers & Downloads" site. Under the list of drivers found, when it shows filtered drivers for my service tag, it only shows 3 files: Dell 32 bit (Graphical User Interface version) Diagnostics Utility; Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module Application; and Dell Wireless WLAN 1520 Half MiniCard Driver. The 2nd and 3rd show an importance level of Recommended; the first shows Optional. When I toggle the filter to show all related drivers for my product, it lists 34 files. I know I need more than the earlier mentioned 3 but also don't imagine I need all 34. The vast majority show as importance level Recommended, a few Optional, and 1 as Urgent (Dell System Software Utility) though I have already installed this one.
I have also looked at Dell's webpage that shows what order to reinstall drivers in. This list kind of matches with some of the 34 drivers on the drivers webpage. But even when I believe I need to install a driver from the "Chipset" driver category, how do I know which one to install? Or do I install all "Recommended" drivers in each category?
Thanks for your help. I've tried to figure this out, but I feel like Dell has left a gap in their instruction.
Not a technical question really - but...
Is there a digital pen I can use with the XPS12 (2-in-1) - has anyone used one that works well?
Internal Cell Battery for XPS M1210
Has anyone had to replace the internal cell battery on this model. Any idea what type of battery it is and/or where to buy one?
Dell XPS 15 L502x performance issues
Hello,
I purchased my Dell back in January 2011, however it has recently been suffering from an increasingly annoying performance issue which has rendered it useless for anything other than the most basic of games and tasks.
Essentially, when I run an intensive game, anything really, I'll get anything from 5 to 18 minutes of playtime before the picture on the screen freezes, accompanied by a horrible audio glitch which repeats ad infinitum. The only way to recover the machine from this state is a hard shutdown, holding the power button.
I've researched around this problem a little, and I'm aware that this model in particular has a number of issues. I've tried cleaning the fan with compressed air to no avail, but I did notice that the issue became particularly prevalent when I was signed onto nVidia's auto-driver update and game optimisation facility, GeForce Experience.
I would be very grateful if I could receive a little assistance with this issue, it has been driving me bananas for months now and I would like to restore my system to its earlier levels of functionality.
Thank you
RE : Dell / Skype / Headset (Help Please ?)
Hi folks,
I am totally new to this site and I have only had my Dell Inspiron 17 (Windows 8) a couple of weeks now.
A couple of questions for you please in relation to using my Dell with Skype.
i am using a Logitec Headset with Mic and so there are TWO mini-jack leads which need to be inserted into my laptop as the lead splits into two at the end. But i do not have a INPUT terminal for the Mic mini-jack (only one for the Earphones). There must be a built in small condenser mic on my Dell ?? But for recording purposes (i am a musician) i like to keep this setting permanently turned OFF. There is a Mic built into the Logitek Webcam but again, i much prefer to use the operator style headset Microphone as it is close to my mouth and i can then adjust it manually by moving it if its too loud/quiet. i am not sure what to do here because i (wrongly) assumed that (like my old laptop) there would be mini-jack terminals for both Headphones and Microphone.
Is there going to be a way around this issue please ??
Hope someone can help !!
Much appreciated,
Paul David Seaman
Drivers
I have windows 7 and just had to reboot my laptop again. The dell dock (don't know what it's really called) that is across the top of screen that has the media player and skype and all those links, well I'm missing that and need to know what drivers to download to get it back. Plus the mouse pad does not let me scroll down with my fingers or emlarge screen with fingers either. What do I need to do? I have done this before but can't remember how. PLease help!

Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 - Color Calibration?
hey all,
purchased a 17R SE 7720 a couple of months ago. ran into some driver problems for a capture device on Windows 8 so i quickly installed Windows 7 & the capture device worked perfectly. within a couple of days i noticed something just looked off about the colors, & to some extent, sharpness too. the display looked subpar, especially when placed next to laptops 1-4 years older than this laptop. i ignored the issue, imagined that somehow maybe, this screen was meant to look like this, that somehow it's better for gaming performance, but pretty much everyone that has seen the laptop has told me, that something's just off about the screen, like it's often hard to explain, ~low contrast? i connected the laptop to an external display, & the colors looked gorgeous & spectacular, which really makes me upset about the screen. i checked and noted that my screen is supposed to be a "TrueLife" LED screen, with better contrast and deeper colors, yet my display appears as if it's a classic LCD. am I spoiled by high quality screens built years ago? i always respected Dell for their ultrasharp series and figured purchasing my first Dell purchase, the screen would be the last thing i would have to worry about.
about a week ago, i couldn't ignore the issue anymore and called Dell Tech Support and spoke to a very nice woman & explained my situation. after upgrading my bios, doing some color tests & sending some pictures comparing screen quality, they decided to send a Dell Tech to replace my screen. the tech arrived relatively quickly and replaced my screen in probably less than ten minutes, a quick, surprisingly simple process. as he left, i glanced at the screen and upon first impression, it appeared a little better, but the problem still persisted. convinced that maybe the screen is configured better on Windows8 somehow, i reinstalled Windows8 to no avail.
after reading some reviews & forums, i noted one person claimed the first thing he noticed was a very high blue and was better once he configured it. i quickly tried using the Intel HD Graphics 4000 color enhancement settings and tried experimenting by lowering the Blue brightness, contrast, and/or gamma, to somewhat better results, but i still can't seem to get it perfect. also, i figured making the changes here would effect external display settings as well? there has to be a better solution.
eventually i found this review, which strongly states to calibrate the display using an X-Rite Colorimeter, & something about being a non-IPS display? i even tried downloading his .icc profile, but couldn't seem to get it to work.
i went to BestBuy today, to see if other Dell laptops looked like this. I only managed to find one Inspiron in the Ultrabook section, which appeared to have the same problem. Pretty much all the other laptops on display from HP, Samsung, Toshiba, etc looked gorgeous by comparison. convinced that perhaps Dell doesn't use quality screens anymore, i inquired about the possibility of purchasing a screen from another manufacturer.
i was curious about this colorimeter technology and ended finding a video where someone uses a Spyder3Pro to calibrate a Dell laptop display which really got me excited, because the device appears to solve my problem. however, these color configuration products seem to be rather expensive, especially given that i only plan to use it once. i quickly searched craigslist in case someplace offered color configuration as a service and had these devices, but couldn't find any leads.
i decided to call Dell Tech support, hoping that perhaps Dell Technicians carry this configuration tool, and could simply send another tech to properly configure a color profile, but apparently i don't live in an ideal world and am often too optimistic. the Dell rep was honest & understanding however, explaining how the most they could do is replace parts & that even if i replace the screen, it most likely would be futile as a screen can only be as good as the instructions sent to it? perhaps a certain new hardware chipset/controller is the real culprit?
regardless, i feel stuck and confused about my next step. & thats why i'm writing this long post.
i have considered purchasing one of these color configuration devices & perhaps use it for a day and sell on ebay?
i don't know of any photographer friends in NYC that possibly carries one of these tools.
i imagine there are makeshift methods to calibrate using a printer, but i'd rather it be done professionally / properly.
the color issues are noticeable while web-browsing, watching movies, during gaming, using photoshop & pretty much everything else i do on a computer.
here are the comparison pics i took to send to Dell before the screen replacement,
Sony Playstation 3D Display ( 1080p external monitor from 17R SE)
Four Year Old Sony Vaio screen comparison (1280x800)
One year old Toshiba laptop comparison (1600x900)
17R SE Screen Specs:
1600x900 17.3" Glossy / "TrueLife"
Monitor ID - AUO159E
thanks in advance for any replies!
if not, at least this experience is documented somewhere..

Super Speed USB 3.0 Docking Station Display Issue
I just purchased and received a Super Speed USB 3.0 Docking Station. I have successfully set up my laptop and dual monitors. Now on the primary display there seems to be some strange flashes that looks like bubbles in the upper right quadrant. I don't think its the monitor because when I switch primary monitors, the anomaly moves with it.
I am running Windows 8.1 I didn't see this issue when I was using my laptop with another additional monitor.
Hoping that someone has thoughts of what is causing this or what I can check.
TIA
Dell Inspiron 7110 It will not boot up only a couple of lights on the right start and then shuts down.
I personally think ithe problem was due to Microsoft Update failures of about 3 days in a row. Has anyone have a clue to getting it back going? I didnt do an original recovery disk!
New XPS 13 (9333) Constant Noise
I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.
I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.
Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.
